| GM Chyro |
A book refuses to be trampled by Brallenera, as she makes haste to chase the blinded creeper.
Joseph, blind as a bat currently, continues his verse of bad jokes about dark places.
================
Creepers, round 4
Carr (blind 5 rounds) & Ting
------------
Red creeper (blind 4 rounds)
------------
Brallenera & Joseph
Ting Tang
|
Sure thing.
Ting decides to ignore the rings and rods for now, and steps towards the notes. He flips the booklet open and lets the pages flurry before his eyes, one page has a page marker on it. It describes which ring goes where.
Jackpot!!
Following the instructions in the book, Ting begins to place the rings and the rods where the book describes. "Oy 'is Book 'as some interesting pictures, yeah!"
not sure how many he can do per round or if you need a skill check from here, if it's a disable device he will take 10 (29) on it.
| GM Chyro |
We'll keep it 1 a/round.
-------------
Creeper wimpers, as it's still blinded.
-------------
Brallenera & Joseph
| GM Chyro |
Joseph keeps up another round of terrible puns.
"I hear something near me.."
Joseph draws his rapier and makes a gambled stab to his right.
Rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d100 ⇒ 94
"AIIEEE"
It is an actual hit.
======================
Creepers, round 5
Carr (blind 3 rounds) & Ting
------------
Creeper (-6)
------------
Brallenera & Joseph
Carr
|
Carr continues trying not to get hit, audibly perceiving his surroundings while maintaining defense. Defense, will roll perception if necessary.
Ting Tang
|
'Well one down.' ting continues combining rods and rings hoping to have the light back on soon. "I's is tryin' ta get tha lights back on, wroight"
assembles the second one ;)
| GM Chyro |
With Carr & Ting busy, the creper makes a feeble jab towards Joseph.
Shiv: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
1d100 ⇒ 30
This is to no avail, it is as blind as it had hoped to get the team.
-------------
Brallenera & Joseph
| GM Chyro |
Brallenera's attack lands.
"Aieee!!"
Joseph smiles, though that might be Julia's influence.
Rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d100 ⇒ 13
Joseph's not doing anything useful this round, and given the yelps of pain, drops inspire.
====================
Creepers, round 6
Carr (moving in?), Ting works on the device.
---------
Creeper (-17)
---------
Brallenera & Joseph
| GM Chyro |
Carrgets the feeling his blindness should pass soon...
Tings inserts another sunrod.
---------
Creeper (blinded 2 rounds) attempts to stab at Brallenera.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d100 ⇒ 32
---------
Brallenera & Joseph
| GM Chyro |
Joseph rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
1d100 ⇒ 85
Joseph's rapier misses the creeper.
==================
Creepers, round 7
Carr patiently waits. (Last round blind)
Ting places a third sunrod.
-----------
Creeper jabs at Brallenera
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d100 ⇒ 69
A close call, but not good enough.
------------
Brallenera & Joseph
Brallenera Thalkham
|
+1 axe: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19
Dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 = 14
1d100 ⇒ 37
Brallenera finally manages to hit something, or someone.
And when she hits.. she doesn't do it half heartedly.
Awww, I just hope it's not you SongBird.
| GM Chyro |
You would hit, you have darkvision.
Brallenera strikes down the creeper, and the little guy explodes in a bright flash....which both she and Joseph will recover from even if they get blinded for 36 seconds.
Combat over.
Ting Tang
|
'What the blazes?' Hearing Brallenera say something about not hitting someone, then seeing the flash of light, Ting stops assembling the light machine turning to the door and calling out, "Is you's blokes all wroights?"
Carr
|
"I didn't want to exclaim what with the fighting going on, but I do believe I am blind." Carr states rather calmly, hearing his allies speaking in a relaxed tone.
Carr
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"I can heal a great many things, but blindness is not yet one of..." His sight returns. "Oh wait, better now. That was odd."
Ting Tang
|
While the others were regaining their sight, ting finishes searching the room. "So's did you blokes see's anythin' import... Oh, never mind wroight."
Once everyone is ready to go ting will inspect the two doors in the wall near each other. He will then inspect the door to the south west, taking care of any traps or locks, he then opens them and looks iside.
Ting will take 20 [30] on perception, searching the two rooms they are in. Then he will take 20 [30]on perception inspect the doors, if they are trapped or locked he will take 10 [31] on disable device for traps or take 20 [39]on disable device for locks.
| GM Chyro |
Ting finds the doors hiding nothing of interest.
Stacks of books, not fitting on the shelves, and supplies of ink and even spare (and thin) pillows for the chairs.
Ting Tang
|
"Oh well's, on we's go." Shrugging his shoulders, Ting then proceeds to the South west door and carefully looking for any traps, he checks the door for locks and proceeds to open it.
Ting will take 20 [30] on perception inspecting the door if it is trapped or locked he will take 10 [31] on disable device for traps or take 20 [39]on disable device for locks.
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Brallenera gives her healing magic stick to SongBird so he can heal a few of her wounds
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Awww, thanks, I feel better
CLW wand 23/50
Carr
|
Carr looks decidedly unfazed now that he can see again. "Sorry I wasn't much use there, what with not being able to see. You're quite effective with that axe."
| GM Chyro |
That's a given, Carr, one does not simply piss off the dwarf, without facing the consequences.
And so.....
A narrow passage leads south from this musty storeroom. Beyond, an arching, iron tripod rises from the center of the room, spanning a narrow hole in the packed dirt floor.
A wooden-handled winch holds a thick chain that leads down into the darkness below.
The floor is 40 feet below the opening with the chain.
The chain can be descended with a DC 16 climb check.
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Awww...Want me to get down? Just cause I'm a dwarf, I'm supposed to be at ease underground?
Despite this unusual grumpiness, Brallenera is ready to get down
Climb: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 4 = 20
Awww...just a question before I start... Can you follow me?
Ting Tang
|
Quickly searching the room and inspecting the winch for traps, Ting nods his head. "You's bet yer bippy! I's'l foller ya, wroight" Sheathing his sword, ting gets ready to follow Brallenera down the hole.
Ting will take 10(20)on perception inspecting the room and take 10(22) on perception inspecting the winch for traps. He will then take 10 (18) on climb to follow Brallenera down.
| GM Chyro |
Ting finds nothing.
Have you taken ACP into the climbing yet?
| GM Chyro |
Armor class penalty. The - values from armors/shields on Str and Dex skills, like Brallenera did.
Ting Tang
|
Armor class penalty. The - values from armors/shields on Str and Dex skills, like Brallenera did.
Sorry, didn't get a lot of sleep, yes, ACP was taken into account. Ting wears dark leaf (leather) lamellar and his shield is on his pack (he's been using the sword two-handed) so there should be no ACP.
| GM Chyro |
When Ting gets down, after Brallenera, he finds a mechanism from an elevator platform jammed. After doing some tinkering (with +21 on DD), he manages to get it working again, allowing Carr and Joseph to safely come down.
-----------------
A makeshift platform stands between a series of limestone stalagmites protruding from a seemingly endless subterranean lake.
Only a small pool of light illuminates the platform, falling from the hole in the cavern’s ceiling above and holding back the thick darkness stretching in all directions.
Three ornate ivory gondolas float nearby, tethered to one of the planks forming the haphazard platform. A 25-foot punting pole is found at the stern of each gondola.
A rope tied to the tallest stalagmite stretches taught into the darkness to the south.
1) Any preference who shares a gondola with another?
B & J in the 1st, C & T in the 2nd?
2) Each square on this map is 10 feet.
3) A PC can move the gondola 10 feet, either by the pole or rope, as a move action.
4) This is what you volunteered for, optional encounter. Gl.
Ting Tang
|
once everyone was on the makeshift platform, ting, sword in hand points at the three gondolas and then the taught rope stretching south. 'Do yous think we's should take tha floaty boats ta wherever tha rope goes?"
Sheathing his sword and making sure his ioun torch was comfortably spinning around his conical helmet, Ting climbs in the first gondola, "Come on Carr you's may as well floats wit me, Wroight."
Turning to Brallenera "Brallenera does you's want ta go foist seein' you's can see in tha dark?"
GM Chyro, any skill checks pulling or pushing the boat?
| GM Chyro |
Ting, if you want to pull or push with your hands alone, you'll have to swim, with a +2 bonus on swim checks if you're holding the end of the gondola to push it. Badass, but you've got means currently. It's up to you. :)
| GM Chyro |
3) A PC can move the gondola 10 feet, either by the pole or rope, as a move action.
Ting Tang
|
sorry, just being cautious, Swimming along would be a good surprise, but would also make him an easy lunch, so he will stay in the boat ;)
Ting waits for Carr to get in and then follows Brallenera by pulling on the rope.
Carr
|
Carr hops in, not particularly minding that he keeps being able to move in space and time without much effort on his own part.
Thank goodness for elevator, my ACP blows.
| GM Chyro |
Joseph looks with a raised eyebrow at Brallenera.
"You would have me sing, in this dark cavern? Who knows what lurks in these parts."
The two gondolas are loaded, and Brallenera and Ting pull the ropes, setting you on your journey across the underground cavern waters.
About 125 feet from your starting point, everything beyond 20 feet (30 feet for B & C) is darkness.
Partially due to the light of Ting's stone, and a bit of poetry from Joseph, who seemed to have done under pressure.... ^^
A sudden sound of hundreds of flapping wings approaches the gondolas.
I've made a small table for the gondolas on the map.
Prep those splash weapons. Better you hit them, water isn't a solid surface it can splash upon.

Brallenera: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Carr: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Bats, round 1
Ting
Carr & Joseph
Would someone care to bot Joseph for this fight, thanks.
-----------
Blue swarm
Green swarm
-----------
Brallenera
The bats are still a good 40 feet away, and not yet in sight.
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Awwww. I should have bought some alchemic fire. Or a thunderstone. Wonder how bats would react to a thuderstone.. Can't you do anythin", SongBird?
Carr
|
"I am fresh out of alchemist's fire or acid..." Carr mentions, fully prepared to start pulling the gondola the other way.
| GM Chyro |
I guess i'm still botting Joseph.
Pardon me, but didn't someone stock up on splash weapons?
Joseph: "And behold, the bloodsuckers with wings.
But despite winged, not getting any blood would suck.
So suck on this, our blood runs hot, as does our temper."
Inspire is up.
Meanwhile, Carr pulls his gondola 20 feet forward, while Ting retrieves a set of vials from his pack.
I reckon it possible, with two move actions.
------------------
Blue swarm descends upon the boat with Brallenera and Joseph.
Swarm dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Fort Joseph vs distraction: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Pass.
The two of them are bitten by many bats, but Brallenera's hardy skin prevents her from taking damage this turn.
Joseph takes 2 dmg, and starts bleeding.
The green swarm descends upon the other gondola.
Swarm dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Carr & Ting take 3 dmg and start bleeding from the many bites.
You also get to make a DC 13 fort roll, or you'll be nauseated for 1 round.
----------------------
Brallenera
Brallenera 57/57
Carr 19/31, bleeding
Joseph 28/30, bleeding
Ting 31/36, bleeding

Inspired +1 slashing of bats: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 25
dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 12
slashing crit?: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 25
dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 13
There is quite a buzzing sound as Brallenera hacks at the bats. Bits of flesh, bones, and wings fly away, and the blonde dwarfess, grinning like only a axe wielding berseker maniac can grin, is soon covered in the blood of the bloodsucking flying rodents.
| GM Chyro |
Would that it be so....these are diminutive creatures, immune to weapons.
Brallenera's onslaught would be so, but the bats are so tiny, that her weapon proves ineffective.
