GM Chyro |
Yes, previous round was your assumed-but-not-happened move.
It was a 2x move from the bottom of the stairs to get up there to said square.
-------
With behind, there are 3 adjacent squares that can qualify for 'behind'.
But you'd be jumping both up and a distance, DC would be pretty high, especially considering the lack of running start.
Ting Tang |
So last move he took a double move and moved to the top of the stairs, being in the square behind Brallenera, but still on the steps.
So lets figure out this round; assuming he is on the second or third step down, what are his options? Can he draw (move action) and throw a chakram (attack action) at the woman? Can he step up to the south (move action) and attack one of the lava creatures (giving up an aoo)? Can he step to the north (move action), drawing a chakram while he does so and throw it at the woman as an attack? Several ideas, just not sure which is "Legal." Sorry about the questions, just want to interpret the room the same way you are
GM Chyro |
- He can draw a chakram, but to see the woman, you need to be on the top floor.
- That creature is out of your reach, but within sight. It would even gain cover from the, i don't know the exact word, 'safety beams'.
- Unless you have dimension door, you can't step north. It's higher up. :P
It leaves moving up and taking 1 aoo.
GM Chyro |
Stepping south on the stairs, you can't reach the creature.
You previously asked about that. The only way to attack it, is via range, with cover, or moving up the stairs for melee.
Ting Tang |

As one of three very specific question I asked "Can he step up to the south (move action) and attack one of the lava creatures (giving up an aoo)?" you answered "It leaves moving up and taking 1 aoo." so I assumed you were answering that specific question.
If he can move someplace onto the third floor and attack a lava creature, giving up an aoo without standing in a location he will get attacked by the fire wall lets do that. Just place ting wherever that may be.
if ting cannot attack without being hit by the firewall leave him on the steps twiddling his thumbs.
GM Chyro |
To that question, i answered;
- That creature is out of your reach, but within sight. It would even gain cover from the, i don't know the exact word, 'safety beams'.
Either a reach weapon or a range weapon would be required.
--
On the current situation, as long as the wall of fire is up, that area is slowly doing damage, but only on Hafshi's turns.
Las Lajas |
+1
Ting Tang |
OK apparently I am more confused than I realize...ting will delay, if any creatures moves within his reach please let him have the attack rolled.
Ting seeming to not able to get up the stairs, waits sword drawn. He turns and shrugs his shoulders at Joseph and Las, "Does you's tink 'at Brallenera is comin' back downs?"
Las Lajas |
Las shrugs, "If she can grasp the concept of waiting until the wall of fire expires, maybe. Otherwise she'll stand there and burn to a crisp despite being able to walk five feet to avoid the fire damage."
GM Chyro |
Ting Delays. Until when is usually good to know.
-----------
Red attacks Brallenera.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d4 ⇒ 4
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d4 ⇒ 1
Its claws can't hit their target, and just like that, the creature dissipates.
"It's now just you and me dwarf. Are you up for the challenge, it seems i'm all yours."

Brallenera & Ting Tang
Las Lajas |
Can Las be halfway up the stairs so that he can fire his crossbow and avoid fire damage?
Las Lajas |
I'm talking about being 5' from the top of the stairs so that I can shoot over the top, just like one shoots around a corner.
Brallenera Thalkham |
Awww... Just like I like it. Gimme a second, please. Doesn't hurt to be polite, even if we want to kill each other.
Brallenera drinks a potion, then calls the others downstairs
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Aww boys, come up, there are no more devils now, you can shoot the priest through the fire. You shoot her, you harm her,she can't concentrate on the wall of fire, and I kill her. It's a simple plan.
Must calculates how many Rage rounds I've spend, out of my 14, but it will be a busy day at work today. Does a five foot step near the stairs to get out of burn range from the firewall
GM Chyro |
To see her, the third floor is your spot.
Las Lajas |
"Brallenera, why would we stand up there and allow ourselves to get burned? The spell will expire in less than one minute."
Las stands at total defense and reminds Joseph to ready that grease spell.
Las Lajas |
No, it got dismissed.
GM Chyro |
Las Lajas keeps his position, while Brallenera drinks a potion.
Ting Tang
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
No, it got dismissed.
Right, then to quote Ghostbusters "This b@$** is TOAST!"
Joseph makes his way up to assist his companions, looking towards Ting's weapon and then casts a spell upon it, making it shift and shape until it becomes a shining silver.
Doing the same spell as I wanted to earlier, but without the demons I'm only using it for the part where it acts like greater weapon enhancement, giving him a temporary +1 enhancement to the sword. IT's not much, but it means he might do slightly more damage.
GM Chyro |
Pansies :P
Ting remains in position as well.
There is a pulsing voice in your head.
Give in to the flames, little one. Walk towards me.
The voice is clearer when you look around, and look towards the relief.
================
Hafshi, round 8
Joseph moves towards Ting Tang, and enchants his weapon.
------------
Hafshi (-7)
The heat deals 1d4 ⇒ 3 damage to Brallenera.
Footsteps accelerate, and from the wall jumps forth the fiery haired woman. "Begone from the sanctuary!"
2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8
Acro: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 3 = 16
Trip?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16, her whip doesn't properly connect to trip Brallenera this time.
-------------
Ting Tang
Las Lajas
Brallenera
GM Chyro |
Well, it seems plausible to me you can, but if you want to set up flank, you'll have to acro your way past her CMD.
Las Lajas |
Is the fire still up? And a reminder to Brallenera, she's disarmed.
Ting Tang |
seeing the priest at the top of the stairs ting moves forward and attacks her through the doorway, jabbing with his sword, "Tanks, lordy joey, we's'l see what yer magic can do, wroight."
attack:two-handed, power attack, furious focus, +1 temporary enhancement
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 6 + 1 = 17
GM Chyro |
Ting's attack isn't his best of the day, missing Hafshi by quite some.
Las Lajas & Brallenera
Brallenera Thalkham |
Brallenera pick her axe back and attacks the cleric
Attak: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 13
Dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 8
GM Chyro |
You might have to switch to another weapon.
I think she disarmed you on the square she currently occupies.
It misses anyway.
Here ==> Las Lajas

Brallenera & Las Lajas
GM Chyro |
I noticed,
The round number is ahead by 1. We're still in 7, going into 8, as i've skipped a number.
Brallenera, you were disarmed in round 6, and in that round you stepped back to drink your potion. Hafshi jumped through this round to where you were previously.
Las Lajas |
Las waits until there is no fire at the top of the stairs.

Hafshi, round 8
Joseph passes his action, meanwhile being teased by the voice of Julia.
You are letting the meatshield, go to waste? You bad boy.....hahaha."
-------------
Hafshi (-7)
The firewall deals 1d4 ⇒ 2 to Brallenera, Hafshi seems unaffected.
Hafshi then makes a full attack.
Whip, trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Whip, trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Mace: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
She trips Brallenera, followed by a bash over the head with her mace.
-------------
Ting Tang
Brallenera & Las Lajas
Ting Tang |
"We's'l need ta try 'is again wroight." ting, seeing the woman trip Brallenera, takes a moment studying her and then grasping the hand and a half sword in both talons swing it at her.
Move action: studied target, attack:two-handed, power attack, furious focus, +1 temporary enhancement, + 1 Studied target
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 6 + 2 = 18
confirm crit.: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 for damage: 1d10 + 6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 6 + 2 = 23
GM Chyro |
And Ting strikes a mighty blow on Hafshi.
Brallenera & Las Lajas
Brallenera Thalkham |
Awww..i'll need more healing, Songbird.
Brallenera tries to get back on her feet, while counter attacking
Getting an AoO, I suppose
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 13
Dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 14
GM Chyro |
Hafshi indeed strikes with her mace.
Mace, vs prone: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 4 = 211d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Las Lajas |
If Brallenera wants to get healed, then she needs to come down the stairs were the rest of us won't take damage from the fire wall. It's not like the priest is going anywhere.
GM Chyro |
@ Ting, nope.
And i figure it's a pass from Las.
Las awaits proceedings above.
"Sure....take your time...who did i get myself in with? " :/
