Involved, acro check DC 10 to move faster than half speed.
If you don't pass, you drop prone. Being blinded also incurs a -4 penalty on most Str and Dex skills.
As for the darkness, it's a radius spell, this goes as far as 60 feet centered on her.
I'll have to check whether it goes around corners. :P

AoO Green: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d4 ⇒ 1
AoO Red: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d4 ⇒ 4
The two creatures hit Ting, but not for a lot of dmg.
----------------
"Attack the one with the weird wand.", Hafshi commands the creature.
Red crawls 5ft forward.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d4 ⇒ 4

K. Planes: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (17) + 8 + (1) = 26
Las retreats down the stairs. As I assume Las was at the top of the stairs, his first step should be out of the darkness.
Acrobatics (if applicable): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
GM Chyro |
You'd walk several spaces, the stair's 'entrance' is behind Brallenera. You'd end near Ting with a 2x move, that ok?
[spoiler=Kn. result]
The creatures are lemure devils.
The lowest of devil class. Mindless but if directed, otherwise driven by instincts, they can serve purpose.
They are immune to fire, mind affecting spells and poison, and are highly resistant to acid and cold.
They are vulnerable to either silver weapons or good aligned weapons.[/spoiler
The green lemure continues its attack on Brallenera.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d4 ⇒ 2
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d4 ⇒ 2
It hits once, but Brallenera's unaffected by the weak hit.

I assume Las shares the info about the devils...
Joseph, maintaining his performance now casts spell on Brallenera's weapon, making it change into a glittering sheen of silver.
I LOVE this spell. It's perfect for situations like this. Here's a description if needed. Sadly you don't get the +1 enhancement as I see your weapon is already enhanced, but now it's silver so even if you do min damage, that'll bypass DR. :D
Lord Joseph Wraitheart |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
After a discussion about the darkness it appears Joseph can NOT see bugger all, even if he's close enough to smell Brallenera he still can't see her and she's be created as concealed so I'm re-doing the action.
Joseph will attempt to feel across the walls to find his way towards the stairs.
hopefully NOT rubbing up against Las uncomfortably in this darkness since there is a good chance he might get stabbed...
GM Chyro |
Ok.
Joseph leaves the fight for what it currently is.
It also seems magical darkness obscures natural darkvision, so both the lemures and Brallenera are rolling for hit/miss.
Previous hit: 1d100 ⇒ 5Brallenera's hit was a miss. :/
On the good side, the lemures' aoo against Ting are nulled, as actions & checks based on sight auto-fail.
---------------
Hafshi (-7) cracks her whip, not having heard Brallenera move.
Trip, antagonized: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 10 - 2 = 271d100 ⇒ 35

Red continues its attacks.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d4 ⇒ 3

Brallenera holds her ground against the lemures, slowly going back to the stairs
GM Chyro |
Had she been able to see, Brallenera's hits would be heavy, but the darkness is the safe blanket for the lemures.
5 feet steps are unavailable when sightless, which i reckon was your intent.

Hafshi, round 5
Joseph descends further, back into the safety of light, down below.
------------
As sudden as the room was black, so swiftly does it become light again.
Hafshi (-7)
Her eyes grow fiery, after a 5ft step, from wall to wall, a wall of fire burns up.
Fire damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Brallenera is burnt slightly.

Since we agreed the steps to have space between them, to somewhat see, plus that nice perception roll, alright.
Hafshi can still only be seen when on the top floor, however.
GM Chyro |
A double move.
About the fire wall: It deals damage 2d4 at the start of Hafshi's turns, to all within 10 feet distance, 1d4 to those further away, the direction of this is aimed at the stairs.
Getting through it deals somewhat higher damage, how much you are unaware of yet, it's pretty warm though.
Ting Tang |
it looks like on the map that ting could get upstairs beside the steps, without entering the damage area, if that is not the case please let me know.
Realizing the darkness was gone ting moves up the stairs, "Time fer some paybacks, wroight." stepping beside them when he feels the heat, he calls back down to Joseph and Las "You's need ta be's careful gentl'men 'airs a firey wall up 'ears."
double move up the stairs, Hey Joseph could you use the wand on ting?
GM Chyro |
No, sorry, i mentioned earlier Brallenera's square is where you get onto the floor.
If that is the square you're going for, you'll take 2 aoo.
AoO green: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d4 ⇒ 3
AoO red: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d4 ⇒ 4

What am I missing? Hafshi just said her minions won't last long. Why not come down the stairs until they are gone?
Las calls out to Ting and Brallenera, "Do either you have any concept of magic? Her spells won't last. Wait it out. Force her to come to us."
Las goes Total Defense.
GM Chyro |
It could well be mean they won't last long physically.
..and, you expect an intelligent foe to come down by her own accord just like that, falling into a trap? :)
While Las remains at the bottom of the stairs, the red lemure steps 5ft closer to Brallenera, and continues its attack on its escaping prey.
Claw vs B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d4 ⇒ 3

Awww, come on, boys...We should press on the attack. Send some spells or missiles at her while I hack the devils!
Some of Brallenera's wounds fade away.
Use Renewed vigor:As a standard action, the barbarian heals 1d8 points of damage + her Constitution modifier (1d8+4+2) This power can be used only once per day and only while raging. Heal: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Las Lajas |
"Because she just told us her devils aren't going to last that long. So you are wasting your time fighting them."
GM Chyro |
If its a standard action, you can't use it after attacking.
Las, remember her alignment & faction? :P
This girl usually rushes in to beat the snot out of anything evil she sees.
Brallenera hacks at green, but the heat is getting to her, as she is forced to narrow her eyes.

Hafshi (-7)

Las Lajas |
Wasting time is wasting time, regardless of faction. What is the heat from? Didn't we sabotage the vents?
GM Chyro |
The pretty orange line. It's a source of fire.
Las Lajas |
If that's a wall of fire, it requires "Concentration" to maintain. Which I believe is a standard action, so Haifsha can't maintain the wall and attack at the same time. Also, how many rounds has it been up?
Also, it's only 1d4 if you're past 10' which Ting is.
GM Chyro |
I had thought it a move action, thanks for the pointer.
Fire dmg to Ting is adjusted/reduced.
But she's not concentrating on it. Wall of fire is concentration + CL, this is the 2nd round.
Las Lajas |
If she's not concentrating on it, then it disappears and does no damage. "Concentration + CL" means it requires concentration to maintain and only lasts as many rounds as her CL. No concentration = no wall of fire. So either she disarms Brallenera and the wall of fire goes away before it burns anyone this round, or she does not disarm Brallera and the wall stays up.
EDIT: Also, Ting posted this "it looks like on the map that ting could get upstairs beside the steps, without entering the damage area, if that is not the case please let me know." You never told him that he was entering the damage area with his move, so you can't then stick him with damage.
GM Chyro |
Ok, so she'd have to focus this round, and forego any other action to even keep it in existance, dropping concentration later to have it linger its duration.
No disarm on Brallenera then.
----------
Ting, will you actually move up the stairs?
You'd get into the heated area, otherwise you'll end your movement outside of it, still on the stairs.
Las Lajas |
She's got to use a Standard Actin each round to keep it going the entire duration. As soon as she stops concentrating on it, it drops. If she takes damage, she has to make a concentration check to keep it from dropping.
Las Lajas |
One more question. Did Haifsha dismiss the Deeper Darkness?
GM Chyro |
Yes, she dismissed it.
Green's retconned to dead, having Brallenera's attention now on red.
Unless i'm missing something, that should correct the current situation.
To your suggestion of wall of fire completely disappearing, there's a couple of threads saying otherwise:
Thread #1
Thread #2
There would be description {concentration}, instead of concentration + 1 round a/lvl, if it were that simple as you suggest, imo.
Ting Tang |
Ting, will you actually move up the stairs? You'd get into the heated area, otherwise you'll end your movement outside of it, still on the stairs.
When I moved ting to the third floor I thought I could go to the square south-east of the steps avoiding the fire. So thank you for explaining at what area that the steps exit into the room.
Having said that (in answer to your question) no ting would not have gone into heat to get upstairs. But that would have been last round not this round, are you letting me go back to last round?
Could he have jumped up the stairs to the square behind Brallenera?
