Draylan Gossamar |
"I detest slavery! All creatures are meant to be free." Draylan is a human male standing around 5'10". He has a large well crafted greatsword strapped to his back and wears well worn, ragged, and torn clothes under tarnished chainmail. "As most nobles will confirm, they hate waiting. Let's get going, the longer she is gone, they harder it will be to track her down!"
Kenji Nishida |
"I agree, slavery is detestable, but not illegal everywhere... still, we have a mission to complete... and as you say, time is of the essence... we're burning daylight folks... let's get a move on."
Lynthara |
Sorry for holding things up. Rebuild almost complete.
A tall, dark-skinned woman wearing the symbol of Pharasma and carrying a bow joins the party.
"Well met neighbors. I am Lynthara, from the church of Pharasma. I am stand ready to defend the freedom of the living and the dead. If we're all here, let us depart!"
GM Chyro |
Sorry for some of the quality of the map.
The woman nods at Draylan's outspoken comment.
"Sadly, slavery is not illegal in Absalom. Kidnapping and selling into slavery nobility 'is' and is an intolerable act. Now, the tavern you'll be looking into, is named The Second Chance, it's down in the Puddles."
The woman shows no further effort in briefing, it seems this is what you get.
From the last venture, some of you are now somewhat familiar with what the Puddles are like. The fame of those has indeed been spread by old Yargos as a few beggars nod kindly, opposed to clumping at you. Eventually, you come to the dockside of the district and see a rundown building with a sign The Second Chance.
Dimly lit by cheap oil lamps sputtering on walls punctuated by
painted-over windows, the Second Chance reeks of unwashed
humanity and pungent ash. Threads of sickly sweet smoke
drift like smog from tin hookahs. Ale kegs lurk in each corner,
and cheap clay mugs hang from nails on the walls.
Keera Airbornt |
Keera remembers what happened last time she decides to go first, so she go slightly to a side letting free pass to the others.
Sele, Asamy, will you gou first. I´ll prefer to back you with my magic
Having said that, Keera casts guidance in her two friends.
This Lynthara is the same we had adveture with, just a little changed due to a faith crisis and having joined Pharasma church. Or we should consider a "new one" which happens to have the same name.
Just for roleplay purpouses
Sele the Thorn |
"Practical .. I shall go first and as you say you are backup, good Keera"
Sele enters the Second Chance
GM Chyro |
As Sele opens the door and steps in...
Reflex Sele: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21, he dodges a tankard that comes flying at the doorway. The scene inside is chaos, a frenzied brawl is going on, men engaging each other in bare knuckled swings. The men have a vague but fierce look on their faces, as if intoxicated with some stimulant.
Somewhere in the back next to the bar, between the struggle, you notice
the likely owner of the den, a thick scowling Keleshite in the appropriate attire. He grips a bloody scimitar in one fist, blocking
one of the den’s rear doors. At his feet lies a fresh corpse, blood slowly seeping into the floor boards from the dead man’s slashing wounds.
He's yelling.
"I told you all, the only rule in here is NO WEAPONS! Now get your asses either passed out beating each other senseless or out of my tavern!"
GM Chyro |
The fight is unaffected by Lynthara's calling out, they continue the brawl as chairs are knocked over, along with the occassional individual.
The man in the back with the scimitar is, despite being the only one armed, not showing any signs of hostility, seemingly patient for the fight to die down eventually.
So... :), what's the plan? Joining a good old fashioned fist fight, magics, other?
Sele the Thorn |
As a paladin it would be irresponsible of me to get involved in a pointless fist fight.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Sele looks to see if there are any who are in need of help, ie being badly beaten and unable to resist.
"Most seem to be not trying to escape, ware the fellow with the weapon, he may be a murderer"
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji just watches, a bit appalled, but saying nothing... like Sele, he observes, though not to heal. He watches the armed fellow in the back mostly.
GM Chyro |
The armed fellow remains, observant of anyone coming near him, not moving at all otherwise and having the scimitar lowered as the brawlers continue thrashing about.
There is a dagger lying besides the man who lays at the barman's feet. Seems this man takes his job seriously.
Keera Airbornt |
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Ok, I´m blind
Kenji, maybe you and I can enter unarmed, I can defend myself with my magic, and you seem able to fight bare handed. This way we not confront the armed man. And e looks to be in charge, so we can try to ask him.
And if there´s any problem, the rest of the group can follow us weapons in hand. But lets hope it´s not neccesary
Well, at least this time I´m prepared, so my spells can help myself
Keera will cast guidance on her and enter, shield at hand but no weapon, and followed by Alacorta, who obiously wears no weapons.
Kenji Nishida |
"Sounds good.." Kenji enters right beside Keera... no weapons in hand ad begins threading his way through the crowd avoiding combat as best he can.
GM Chyro |
You then notice a skinny looking fellow, matching Fredrik's description, standing on a table, trying to fend off some of the brawlers wanting to pull him off.
Map's updated.
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji starts making his way over toward the fellow who looks like their description of Fredrik and defends him if possible. He takes a non-lethal punch at anyone threatening Fredrik.
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
dmg if hits: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Sele the Thorn |
Sele walks over to the table that Fredrik is on top of
"Now now good fellows, please leave this man alone, there are plenty others that you can fight with and I need this man able to talk"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
GM Chyro |
As Kenji steps between the 3 thugs, ready to swing his fist in retaliation if needed, Sele tries the diplomatic approach.
#1) "Whu.....a snake that talks? Now i've seen some weird sh!t when i'm trippin, but this?"
Yes, the high-as-hell douche did just go there. :)
#2) "Buzzoff, we're busy with this scrawny fella."
#3) "Another to fight with? Sure, don't mind if i do..."
Sudden punch vs Sele: 1d20 ⇒ 2 non lethal: 1d3 ⇒ 1
...and him being high shows...shows very clearly. His fellow thugs want at you too.
Alacorta: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Draylan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Keera: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Kenji: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Lynthara: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Sele: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Thugs: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Second Chance, round 1.
Alacorta
Lynthara
Draylan, Kenji & Sele
Thugs
Keera
Lynthara |
Lyn draws her bow and tries a tricky shot to hit the man north of Sele in a non-vital area.
Longbow, Point blank, nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11
Damage?: 1d8 ⇒ 6
-Posted with Wayfinder
Lynthara |
Yes, she's no diplomancer, but I'm still trying to feel out her character. Will not be a total murderhobo, but I was thinking try to knock one down, then intimidate the others.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Chyro |
I'll spoiler, that's not going to work, they're high on chems. You're turning a beat em senseless into a slaughter, i feel kinda bad for these commoners XD
Keera Airbornt |
Keeras asks Alacorta to attack the blue thug Flanking with Sele, meanwhile she casts a flare DC 13 over the red thug, trying to hamper his attacks over Fedrik.
Alacorta bite, flanking: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 91d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Let´s see if the posibbility if being eated by a Roc, forces a little of common sense in their minds
Draylan Gossamar |
Draylan moves to flank with Sele (draws AoO from blue) and takes a swing at the enemy.
unarmed strike: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18
non-lethal damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Sele the Thorn |
Selee draws his sap and whacks blue
sap non lethal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
GM Chyro |
Second Chance, round 1.
Alacorta flies around and attacks the man, the roc misses...maybe something in the air?
Lynthara draws a bow and shoots at another, she misses however.
This however, has provoked the scimitar wielding barkeep. He puts 2 fingers to his lips and whistles. "She is breaking the golden rule, get her!" He says 2 words in Kellish
Kellish or trained linguistics DC11: 'dark woman'.
All 3 jerk their heads to see who he's talking about.
Changes in setup, 2 joining the fight.
>Slobber, a dog comes from behind one of the tables. It comes growling at Lynthara. Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Lynthara dodges the angry dog's bite.
Slobber will go before Lynthara the next round, higher roll.
Draylan moves around the back and swings his fist into blue's jaw.
Kenji had a punch ready, in case things went bad and punches green KO.
Sele draws now a nonlethal weapon and smacks blue over the head...down he goes.
Red thug: he grabs a makeshift club, 5ft steps east and takes a swing at Draylan. Swing: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Fredrick screams: "Get em away from mee :s !"
Keera
Elo
Init Elo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Slobber: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
GM Chyro |
Ugh right...Keera flared him, i'm so used to attacks from her.
Fort red: 1d20 ⇒ 15, the guy remains unaffected.
Elo deftly moves behind the bar, Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14, making a smooth jump onto the bar to get over it. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 He quickly makes a detour in the east, also hopping onto a table, jumping down next to Lynthara.
"You wench! This here bar upholds the golden rule of non lethal combat, and you DARE draw a bow to shoot at a commoner? You just another lowlife that needs cutting?"
----------------------------------------------
Second Chance, round 2.
Alacorta
Slobber
Lynthara
Draylan, Kenji & Sele
Keera
Elo
Bold is up.
Keera Airbornt |
I think Alacorta should have delayed last round to Keera init due not having orders before that. But, unleess something happens, he will continue attacking the nearest thug
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
And I´m also too used to Keera trying to use her weapons
GM Chyro |
Second Chance, round 2.
Alacorta draws blood in the man's side, provoking more of a grunt than a scream of pain.
Slobber skips 5ft SW, to flank with his master. Grr, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13 Teeth: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6Trip?, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14 Lynthara dodges the maw yet again.
Lynthara
Draylan, Kenji & Sele
Keera
Elo
Lynthara's up.
GM Chyro |
Sorry, i open the map when i make a post, the AC was still on 13. It's adjusted in previous post.
Lynthara |
It's OK, I didn't get all the changes from sorceror fixed until a couple days ago.
Lyn steps 5' to the southwest and drops her bow. She puts her hands up slightly and says:
"Sorry, my mistake! I didn't even hit him! Let's just call this a misunderstanding?"
Ready an action to punch anyone who attacks me again. I expect a diplomacy roll would serve no purpose here, but she does feel guilty.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Chyro |
Elo raises a wairy brow.
He issues something in Kellish, Slobber disengages Lynthara, but remains on his spot.
"Smart woman, now if your friends would be so smart as to honor this single rule and finish it without lethal weapons, it would be most appreciated.", he says with the scimitar still in hand.
Sele the Thorn |
"Terms accepted" says Sele as he attempts to hit the last fellow with his sap
Sap V Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Keera Airbornt |
No weapons used by me. Says Keera just before start chanting a spell.
Chalm animal against the dog. DC 14
And Alacorta don´t even know how to use a weapon, but if you prefer I cans ask him go not fight. If the man asks for it, Keera will order Alacorta to go by her side
GM Chyro |
Will Slobber: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Slobber is calmed and just acts like a relaxed dog does, panting and looking around.
Elo takes a slightly less hostile stance.
"Much appreciated, finish that stoner over there without lethal means and then you can explain what it is you're lookin' for here."
GM Chyro |
With Slobber relaxed and Elo appeased by Lynthara's cooperative nature, Sele smacks the last of the three brawlers to sleep.
Fredrick climbs down from the table and Elo looks at you.
"Well, what is the reason for your visit here?"
Keera Airbornt |
We´ve heard you can help to [k]buy[/k] slaves. [k]special[/k] slaves, more educated and less used to being ordered. We want one of them.
More especifically one called Anilah Salhar. Says Keera as she pets Slobber, scratching him behind the ears.
Kenji Nishida |
what is the code k supposed to do?, or did you mean i for italics?
GM Chyro |
Mama Mia....
Fredrik tries to make a run for it, but immediately trips over his own feet. He's seemingly at the end of his high and isn't resisting, maybe to avoid unwanted noise with a coming headache perhaps.
"I was hired to kidnap that Lady Anilah and sell her into slavery. I fobbed her off on Pardu Pildapush at his office in the Pits. ’Nough gold for a whole week o’ grit!"
'Grit' is a powerful drug used around these parts. Every person's body reacts differently, varying from hallucinations to 'less pretty behavior', amongst others. Addicts are known to fall to dark deeds to get money for their latest 'fix'.
Then, Fredrik coughs up a reddish foam.
A sign he could be almost at death's doorstep. Coughing up blood is bad.
Keera Airbornt |
K. Local untrained: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Max 10
Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Waiting for others to do anything
Kenji Nishida |
heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kenji looks at the man impassively, not having any clue what the red foam might mean.
"Who hired you to do such a vile thing?"
GM Chyro |
*Gurgle..cough...cough*
"..beats me who ordered, i just delivered and got money for my stuff."
Keera Airbornt |
Keera tries to whisper to her friends, to not scare the junkie.
He´s addicted to grit, and his addiction should had forced him to do that. I suggest let him go now to not lose time with him. Also, the drug has affected his health, and he will be not alive much longer, so there´s not much punishment that can be done
Kenji Nishida |
"I guess we have to go see this Pardu Pildapush in the Pits... is that even a real person?" he asks with a smirk.
Sele the Thorn |
"Where are the pits is my first question, Elo my good man, where are the pits please?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
GM Chyro |
'The Pits', are also named Misery Row, known to most locally as the
Slave Pits of Absalom.
Elo shows a sly smile.
"Now why would i want to direct such 'outstanding visitors' to a place such as that?"
