I'm going to be trimming down the groups over the holidays. Post counts have dropped for some to an unacceptable level. I was clear in my recruitment post that I expect daily activity unless I am notified of a circumstance that would prevent a player from posting. We are making very slow progress and I find myself constantly waiting for a response from the group. I understand we all get busy, and the holiday season is no exception, but I also feel like some folks are wanting to move faster while others are not towing the line, thus slowing the play for everyone.
If you have lost interest in the adventure please let me know, and I'll remove you from the active roster. Otherwise I will take this weekend to sort out the last few weeks of posting and make a decision on my own. On Monday the ten remaining players will be combined into a six man group and we will proceed as a standard PbP would unless I am given a very good reason to continue our current arrangement.
I'm not trying to be harsh here, but I think we are all aware that a number of people are not making it a point to keep up with their posts.

I want to bring everyone up to speed on the decision to trim down the group to a 6 man party. In some examples it was a fairly easy process, as a few people have a post count less than 1/3 of most of the players, which is really sad. In other cases the decision was a little less easy, as I had to take into consideration the health of the group after the loss of specific members. Needless to say, everyone picked up their activity for the most part after I made my post. This told me that the interest in playing was still there, but that it would take me driving it constantly to keep it going, which I've said on a number of occasions that I do not want to do. I facilitate a story, the players drive it.
Know that I have grown fond of each of you, so this is not something I do lightly. I've been happy to see each any every character interact with each other and have enjoyed more than a few chuckles at some of the things that have happened. I wish I could keep everyone, but for the sake of those players dedicated to the game I feel I owe them a chance to see Kingmaker actually completed, and the pace we are setting right now is about 1 book per year. That obviously is far too slow.
I've made my choices, and as the adventure this week goes on they will become obvious. I'm not summarily excusing 4 people from the game, rather, your character will go out with a bang and leave an impression on the remaining members that will likely echo for a long time.
More to come.

Yes, and at the same time, oddly excited to see the kind of 'big bang' referred to. Whether it's Brom or not, I've enjoyed playing with each of you and will be sad to see anyone go.
On the flip side, I am happy that I play in other games with many of you, so no matter what we'll likely still be playing together in some form or fashion!

I think Trips would have been fine to run both groups if things kept moving at a brisk pace. It's when things start to drag and you realize that some people haven't posted in a while that doubt begins to form and you take the first steps down the path of "The Culling!"
It becomes much more apparent if a few of those slow posters get into a group and do not have the more active ones to drive the story.

Brom Wolven |

alrighty.
Hadin do you want me to move your piece along with Broms and Karse's? Or are you intentionally sticking towards the back?

Brom Wolven |

Well Trips was out yesterday and obviously wasn't able to post last night. I think we'll get some movement today.

Brom Wolven |

lol Lukcy for him Brom seems to be the only one susceptible to that sort of thing.

GM Captain Trips |

I'm sorry I've been out of the loop the past two days. I've had some work stuff crop up that has kept me swamped. I'm also headed out this morning to run our PFS special Siege of the Diamond City, so I'm not due home until late tonight. I'll try to catch up in the morning. Again, I apologize!

Brom Wolven |

excessively busy day today, sorry folks. should be less busy tomorrow.

No head-scratching here. Karse doesn't like her, and would rather just kill her and be done with it. He stays his hand both from a sense of party unity, and because deep down, he knows that she is right about us being the ones in the wrong here.

Brom Wolven |

Hey folks, sorry I was out yesterday. It was a busy workday and bday activities for me. :) Still alive!

Brom Wolven |

Probably the best part of being a GM :)

Make no mistake, Karse wants to see this tower destroyed. Sorry, guys, but it is what paladins do; they oppose evil. Allowing evil to flourish would be a direct violation of his ethics, and in his view (from what he has heard thus far), this woman and this place are evil.
That said, I am very much enjoying the verbal jousting with Will. So long as it doesn't come to blows (and Karse will not resort to such, so long as he is in his right mind), intra-party conflict adds realism and makes it easier to immerse oneself in the game.

Oh it definately won't come to blows with Will starting anything.
Quite frankly, after watching Dend and Brom nearly get killed by just walking through the rooms of this tower, Will nearly has a urine stain on his trousers thinking someone lives here. The fact that she lives here makes Will not want to oppose her until the group is much stronger and doesn't die just by breathing.

GM Captain Trips |

My job is to try to put you in situations like this. Not every encounter is handled by the edge of a sword or the spike of a flail. Not to say you couldn't try that approach.
I prefer my sandbox very sandboxy! And with the thinning of the groups I'll be able to do more of this type of stuff.
And also, verbal jousting is fine, or else you never develop your characters. It should always have limits of course.

Brom Wolven |

We'll see how she likes it when we come out here in the day time and I stoneshape a nice wedge out of the side of the tower. Like felling a tree, only with magic :D
>>insert evil (righteous?) laugh here<<

If you have it instantaneously collpase, maybe, but I would like to think there is at least 6 seconds of creaking, crumbling, and swaying before the tower falls.
If not, please advise the next bard/cleric not to do what Will has done...

Brom Wolven |

I realize some are trying to extricate and Brom is currently trying to... implicate/exacerbate. But that's sort of where his conversation with her is leading him. Someone tell him to 'shut it!' and he'll probably get a clue.

Brom Wolven |

But you're gonna leave the bird right? ;)

Brom Wolven |

One of my favorite of the movie. :)

Brom Wolven |

'No, it's too perilous!' :)
