GM Bold Strider |
Gob, Brewslee, Baern and Malachite begin to chip away at the rubble as Mu stands watch over the recently observed path. Shu and Bevek move to examine the western corridor. They find no traps in this hallway.
As this is going on, the wolf zombie meanders around the corner.

Gob Master of Greed |
"Ooooh it's a wolf, that's what you were talking about earlier."
Know Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
"Looks undead to me." Gob fires off a ray of disruptive energy at the undead wolf.

I take it the wolf is squeezing?

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Hey, what do you see down there? Can we sneak up behind that thing?
Baern Bellindorn |
Passionate about not letting such a vile beast live, Baern halts his digging to move up to the wolf, drawing his holy blade as he goes. "Now thine salvation is at hand! Have at thee!" He slashes the blade across the putrid flesh of the wolf, hoping to fell it swiftly to aid his party.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
In the back of his mind, a part of him thinks 'When shall I learn to stop running headlong into battle? It rarely works well in the end...'
Malachite Stoneheart |
Malachite takes out the pebbles he had put in his pouch earlier and begins muttering some incantations over them.
Remove stones as move action, cast Magic Stone as Standard Action. This is a racial benefit of Oreads.
GM Bold Strider |
Gob and Baern are able to injure the wolf, but it doesn't seem to notice. The rest of the party prepares for the impending melee.
The wolf lashes out at the dwarf inquisitor.
Bite @ Baern-21 AC: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 14 - 4 = 11

Perception for traps or whatever: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
If it's not safe, I'll stop.
Brewslee Haiiya |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Brewlee is unable to see what is happening so he begins to wander down the hallway after Old Shu. I wantsh to pet the fluffy puppy alsho!

Dmg vs undead, if hit: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 4) + 2 = 11
Brewslee Haiiya |
No biggie. This is kind of a tough one with 5 foot hallways. I will have plenty of opportunities to go unconscious later :)
GM Bold Strider |
Mu strikes the beast and cleaves off some rotting flesh, while Malachite hits the wretched wolf with his stone, dealing about as much damage as he could have expected since he is well-versed in fighting zombies.
Baern strikes the beast and withdraws, drawing an savage bite from the wolf, but the squeezed creature is unable to do anything.
Bite: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 14 - 4 = 14

Gob and Bevek hold action as they wait for something... anything to occur.
The wolf lashes out, likely for the last time, at Mu.
Bite: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 14 - 4 = 13
Sadly, its afterlife will end after doing nearly nothing but scaring the crap out of tiny, old people.

Gob Master of Greed |
Gob fires another ray of disrupting energy at the wolf. "Wish I had this spell back at the opera house."
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Confirm: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Baern Bellindorn |
Baern mutters a prayer for the soul of the foul beast, coughing on the dust cloud before him. Sheathing his sword, he returns to the rubble assuming the task was interrupted by the zombie?
GM Bold Strider |
The group finishes exhuming the body and finds a ring of climbing and a scroll of lesser restoration.
Examining the entire floor, they find no more cultists or avenues of continuing. Not to be dissuaded, the elderly determination of Mu and Shu to keep living pushes them to find the secret door right by the stairwell.
The third elderly man chirps up at Shu's discovery. Aha! Age before beauty, right Master Shu? Us old guys are always one step ahead of these youngsters.
Brewslee Haiiya |
Brewslee follows down the stairs, taking his time so as not to stumble down the stairs. I am accident prone it seems, my balanshe ishn't the greatesht
GM Bold Strider |
You do realize that you will be taking like 10 minutes to move 25' right? It's fine with me cause it's probably worth it, just so you know for buff purposes. (Mage Armor, etc.)
Brewslee is about to stumble onto the landing when Shu stops him. Luckily, the perceptive gnome sees that the floor is trapped. Bevek gets called to the forefront and he works his magic. He slides a piece of metal here and taps the floor in another section. He declares that it is safe.
The group continues down the stairs at a slow, methodical, slow pace.
---20 minutes later---
Shu makes it down the stairs with Bevek in tow. Mu follows behind him and the ever-loveable Hustavan is right behind Mu, yammering in his ear. Man, this is exciting... Master Shu seems a bit tougher and younger than you Master Mu. Was he your protege? You must be proud to have a student surpass you like this...
Shu stops at the bridge after carefully examining it. He sees that it is trapped, though he's not sure how.
Status:
1st: Gob @ 23/23 HP; Bevek @ 16/16 HP; Brewslee @ 17/17 HP; Shu @ 41/41 HP; Mu @ 35/35 HP; Malachite; Baern @ 52/52 HP
Bevek Verdade |
Bevek carefully examines the bridge.
Find Traps: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Hrrm...Trapped you say? Hey, Hustavan, what do you know about this here bridge?
Baern Bellindorn |
Baern continues along at the very slow pace set by the gnome. And I though dwarves were slow with our short legs. Gnomes' legs must be even shorter...
Peering over the edge of the precipice, Baern considers alternative methods of crossing.
Old Shu |
More than once Shu considers sending Hustavan ahead to find any more traps, but he's just not that cold-hearted, despite his efforts at acting otherwise. Once they get to the bridge he confirs with Bevek, hoping both of them can figure this new trap out.
The only buff we have up is mage armor, and it's cheaper to recast that then have to use multiple charges from a wand of healing. And if some bad guys below heard the alarm, and decided to buff up with any magic of their own it might expire too. :)
GM Bold Strider |
Yup. I will just tell you how long you have been down here at the end and you can subtract charges.
Hustavan laughs at Mu's joke. Me, go on a trapped bridge? You are quite the prankster, Master Mu. Did I ever tell you about the time that I played a prank on my ex-wife? I poured juice near her shoes while she was sleeping! She probably got up and was like... Whaaaat?! Juice near my shoes? Did an orange sneak in here and get juice on my floor?
Bevek doesn't quite know what to say, but he has the feeling that Hustavan has no idea about anything down here, much less the intricacies of the traps.
Old Shu |
With a grumpy harrumph Shu retrieves his crossbow from his haversack and looks back at his companions. "I say we shoot bodies." Takes aim, then looks up again. "Just to make sure."
Crossbow with PBS: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Crossbow with PBS: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Crossbow with PBS: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
If there is no reaction he will don the ring of climbing, get out his silk rope, hand one end to Mu and Baern, then slowly try to cross the bridge.
Mu Ping |
Being braver than he normally would be, but anything to get away from Hustavan’s yammering, Mu downs a potion and leaps down into the pit, and then immediate puts up his temple sword in a defensive stance. He slowly moves around the corpses inspecting for method of death, also looking for how the bridge is trapped.
potion hide undead, Slow Fall 20’, full defensive AC25
Baern Bellindorn |
Baern dutifully holds the rope as the elder gnome makes an attempt across the bridge.
As Mu jumps down, the dwarf merely shakes his head. I likely would have done the same were I not so susceptible to gravity.

Old Shu |
"Do not worry, Shu the Great and Powerful will handle this!" Shu says as he scales down into the pit. "Fear not, my faithful servant Mu shall... 你怎么了吗!?" He exclaims upon finding the old man already waiting at the bottom.
