3)when a outsider dies it merges with the quintessence of a plane but what happens when a gods dies?

4)when a god dies does it affect the things within there divine Portfolio

1) This is discussed in further detail in the article in the last Mummy's Mask, but for the most part, yes, they cease existing as an identifiable individual when they merge with a plane's quintessence. Similar to how a dead body merges with the ground after it rots away.

2) Not sure what your'e asking here... looks like you left out a word or two...

3) Depends on the god and the location. For example, a demon lord's body generally becomes entombed in the walls of the Rift of Repose, unless it's killed by Nocticula, in which case its body forms a new Midnight Isle. It varies.

4) It varies. Might not have an effect at all, might cause great widespread or local upheaval. In addition, other deities might pick up parts of that portfolio and change how they function. Questions like this CAN'T have simple answers, though, since we want to retain flexibility in telling all the stories we haven't yet thought up.

2)What is Desna's realm on Elysium like and what lives there?

We haven't talked much about these realms yet, but in a nutshell...

1) It's a sprawling palace of crystal and fire and strange metal and glowing stone and glass that either orbits the star Cynosure... or perhaps IS the star.

2) It's a smaller version of Sevenfold Cynosure, merely the size of a planet.

The primary inhabitants of both places are chaotic good creatures, with a heavy leaning toward azatas and star monarchs and other alien creatures and stuff no one knows about yet.

You can kind of do that, however its on a single weapon of your choice.

** spoiler omitted **

Working on a duelist myself that use the Dueling Sword Mastery line, but i do wonder if its worth going into the duelist prestige later on or just stick to Swashbuckler the entire way.

Do you have any ideas for the Swashbuckler so far you want to share?

The question was, what would I change. My change would make the need for feats like that irrelevant. I don't think Dex to damage is a game breaking concept... but I'm not on the Design Team, so that's that.

And that's pretty much the main idea I have for the swashbuckler that's not in print. I worked with the Design Team to get what's in there already, so what you see in print is pretty much a lot of my ideas.

Do you think you guys will ever make rules for playing as gods(deities)

in pathfinder?

No. I'm not sure that'd be something that the internet would gracefully accept, for one thing. For another, I think Mythic goes as far as we need to go for playing the game. Playing gods changes the fundamental nature of the game so much that it'd have to be an entirely new and separate game from Pathfinder in order to do the job right.

I am asking these questions for a PFS character.

Questions:
1) Is my boar animal companion able to use the claw attacks provided by the Lesser Beast Totem and Greater Ferocious Mount?

2a) If yes to #1, would he magically grow paws while raging or maybe just magically work?
2b) If no to #1, would he maybe instead get hoof attacks (same damage just different wording/type)?

3) At level 9 when the boar gets a second natural attack (foregoing Multiattack since he doesn't have 3 or more naturals) and the claws are primary attacks, would the full attack routine be:
Gore BaB/Gore BaB-5 (and if the claws applied) another Claw BaB/Claw BaB?

4) Would the boar ever naturally qualify for Multiattack since he wouldn't permanently have 3 or more natural attacks?

5) I'm assuming he would qualify for Multiattack if I were to have him wear a magic item that gives, for example, a bite...

Sorry... I prefer to avoid getting in discussions about PFS, particularly as regards character builds. You'll need to ask in the PFS threads for answers. My general advice? Don't push the edges/limits of the game's expectations—the more strange and exotic your character concept gets, the more likely it is you'll end up disappointed when the structure of the program prevents you from achieving the build you want.

3)If you guys make a new great beyond book what would you like to see change?

3)If you guys make a new great beyond book will Axis get a new city map?

1) Varies by deity. In Milani's case her Axis realm is more of a hideout or something she snuck in and established.

2) Poorly. They don't hang out much. Iomedae is frustrated with the mayhem and disrespect and insubordination Milani encourages, and Milani is frustrated with Iomedae's obsession with tradition and law and her overly-stern attitude.

3) The size of the book. It should be a lot bigger than the last one.

4) I'd like to figure a way out to do maps for all the outer planes, but the sheer size of those locations makes maps tricky.

2)I read some wear that they are best frinds or something. Is this not true?

I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of everything we've published. I've not read even half of what we've published. I do know that Milani is from my homebrew and thus a lot of what I know about her is from that... but there's other things out there that I didn't come up with for her. Iomedae isn't from my homebrew, and so when I think of those two, my immediate reaction is that they'd respect each other but be frustrated by each other.

As it so happens, I'm running an adventure in Sandpoint that's my homage to the Hastur mythos. Short version - Cyrdak got a copy of The King in Yellow, got a bit obsessed by it, and ended up using marvelous pigments to create a skrim backdrop for Carcosa. This has had the unfortunate side effect of drawing the Unnamable One's attention to Sandpoint, and the party need to chase him to the palace before he can open up its doors and lift the King's pallid mask.

I've only read through Chambers' The King in Yellow, and used that as my main inspiration, as well as some supplementary stuff I found on the web, but the inconsistencies on what Carcosa, Hastur, Hali, and all of these names interest me - especially since even Chambers uses these names interchangeably. In your opinion, what exactly is the relationship between Hastur and Carcosa? Is there one?

From SKR's Iomedae article in The Sixfold Trial (p. 70-71): "Iomedae is very fond of Milani (see Pathfinder Chronicles: Gods & Magic, page 46), whom she calls her sister, and is always ready to support the Everbloom when it is time to act."

Excellent!

My preference for Hastur and Carcosa is that Hastur is an entity who lives in Carcosa, and that Carcosa is a malevolent city that parasitizes other cities throughout reality by attaching itself and superimposing itself into cities on other worlds.

Not how I would have developed their relationship were I the one writing it, but certainly not wrong. In fact, having Milani be the one that Iomedae sometimes goes to or relies upon to handle situations in areas where the law can't really do good justice is kinda neat.

Not as far as I know. That'd probably be a good idea, but that's not something we apparently do. Maybe make a suggestion to the tech team? I do know that adjustments to the site are constant and ongoing... and having a "coming soon" area might be on the list, but I've got my head pretty much down here on the ground floor in other sorts of mayhem than that.

Has any supremely intelligent creature become aware of the metaphysics of Pathfinder's systemic influence on their existence? If so, why are they not level 60+ and the absolute ruler of everything? Wizards like quantifying stuff. What if they could work out a system based around common spells (IE Magic Missile, or spells that have Xduration/level) and abilities that have a certain number of rounds or uses per day.

Long Story Short: Why aren't super smart things, like any player, also exploiting the leveling system? Subjective view doesn't matter vs. an objective system. It's science.

I can't remember if it made it into the Milani-article I wrote for Wayfinder (which obviously is not only not canon, but has since been superceded by a proper SKR article), but I used that alignment-conflict and Iomedae being fond of Milani to suggest that they have an older and younger sister style relationship where they can have screaming matches with each other, but pulls together to help each other out if something's troubling the other "sister."

And that wasn't a question, but I've reached the point where I have so much Golarion lore on my bookshelves that extrapolating from what's already there is keeping me busy enough.

Oh wait, how scary would a divine shouting match be?

There's a level cap for one thing.

And the rate at which things become more powerful if they're not PCs is subject to the GM. AKA: NPCs don't gain XP for adventuring as a general rule unless they're adventuring with the PCs and you need a mechanic to tie their power gain to the PCs.

And because it makes for less interesting stories that break verisimilitude.

And because it's arbitrary.

And because it's more fun to tell a compelling story and develop personalities than it is to number crunch levels.

Very scary, and probably wholly unexpected and certainly the epitome of evil, if the reactions some folks have had on these boards to things involving Iomedae and sounds.

This is actually a fair amount of brand new flavor design work, frankly, since it's a topic we've been hesitant to delve much into yet... and the messageboards isn't really the best place to fix that, unfortunately.

I did read Inner Sea Gods

How about three then

How does Desna fell about sexuality and does Desna engage in sexual activity?

How does Sarenrae fell about sexuality and does Sarenrae engage in sexual activity?

How does Erastil fell about sexuality and does Erastil engage in sexual activity?

It's not a matter of numbers. I'm not ready to spend time designing this flavor for these deities, because there is a fair amount to say and a lot of implications to explore. It's also a really pretty mature topic, and as such isn't really appropriate a discussion to have here. Not everyone is comfortable reading about frank discussions of sexuality, which is why we've avoided the topic over-much in print. I do think it'd be a very interesting topic to some day cover, perhaps as part of the theoretical "Romance of the Inner Sea" book... but it's not really an appropriate topic here. Both for content, and because I generally try to resist building significant amounts of new world canon content into posts on these boards where they can be lost or forgotten with ease.

thank you anyway

James can someone add animal bones into a humanoid skeleton and still animate via animate dead?

James,
Ever toyed with the idea or done any serious work towards writing a novel?

Is there a consistent place on the site to look for announcements like about Inner Seas Races? If I hadn't seen the discussion here, I would know nothing about it. Attending conventions is not really in the cards for me, so I rely on what I see here on the site.
Just go to each of the product lines and sort the results by "Newest First."

OK, so there's no place where these are officially announced online? I figured a day or so after the official convention announcement, there would be something here other than spoilers from those that attended. Or name drops from folks like yourself.

For the record, "Races of the Inner Sea" (or whatever it is called) didn't show up in the product line and searching the site for it came up dry, too.

Fair enough. So, since I forgot a question last time, how's it going maintaining your weight loss? Have you taken up any extreme sports yet?

What spells are available to non-core classes?
Burning arec seem a good candidate for a Magus;
Cultural Adaption maybe for the Witch and Inquisitor
Summon Totem Creature for a summoner.

Ummm... summon totem creature is indeed a summoner spell. And while burning arc and cultural adaptation might make sense for other classes (and if you want to make them available in your game, go for it!)... we chose NOT to extend them to those classes.

- Ablative Sphere:

while it is an interesting spell it is decidedly unclear.
When the sphere take damage?
From area spells?
Melee and missile attacks?
The attacks should be aimed at the sphere or at the protected guy (and the sphere is damaged when its AC bonus protect the caster)?
If you must aim to the sphere to damage it, what is its AC?

The sphere takes damage whenever it's hit by anythign that does damage, be that an area effect spell or any attack that hits you (kind of like how stoneskin's hit points or protection from energy's hit points deplete as you are hit).

You can certainly aim attacks at the sphere itself, but if you just want to attack the person it's protecting you can do that as well. If you hit, you do damage to the creature AND to the sphere.

Ablative Sphere is confusing. It says immobile sphere, does that mean the caster cannot move from their spot?

And does the spell also give improved cover to targets outside the sphere from the caster?

Very scary, and probably wholly unexpected and certainly the epitome of evil, if the reactions some folks have had on these boards to things involving Iomedae and sounds.

So the lady likes some Wub Wub Wub, cut her some slack :3

Also, ChoirStep totally needs to be a thing now.

I apologize for not really having a question beyond, "Have you seen this yet?", but I thought you might find this interesting.

Dreadnoughtus dinosaur may be largest land animal ever

One more Ablative Sphere question.

It's not clear on HOW it gets damaged.

It provides Improved Cover. So say the spell gives the caster AC 18. Can you attack the sphere solo or are you always targeting the caster? I see no AC for the sphere, so I assume it cannot be targeted.

If you fail to hit the caster, does the sphere take damage or no? If you succeed in hitting the caster, does the caster AND the sphere take damage? Or is it only the sphere that takes damage? This spell is not exactly clear.

Ooh, I was just gonna mention this! Another article.

If I were to play a character that writes music, what skill would that fall under? I'm debating with Craft, Perform or Profession, but am unsure.

It's only evil if she asks Milani for help, then shouts her to death when Milani doesn't answer her questions how she wants it :p

While there's no mention of a sisterly relationship between them, Milani's article in Shackled Hut does list Iomedae as one of the good aligned deities she's on friendly terms with. Also, Erastil and Torag are on that same list.

It actually lists Sarenrae as a good deity she has a problem with; not that she dislikes Sarenrae, but she's disgusted by some of her followers who practice slavery.

First, thanks for your advice on bringing mythic into my Runelords campaign. They achieved their first mythic rank from the destruction of Karzoug and his runewell, journeyed through part of Leng (though even a part seems forever), ended up back to Golarion and killed Mhar Massif (for the next few thousand years anyway). One of their old enemies (from character history, not Runelords) was able to bring back the Oliphaunt for them to take care of, and they eventually faced off against some seriously scary tier 10 enemies before putting a fragment of Aroden's soul to rest (this was an ongoing story element that tied everything from the start of the campaign all through mythic). The PCs were too powerful in general and had some broken mythic options but this is something I can fix if I run another mythic campaign. So thanks for the advice you gave over the past couple years. It worked.

Sorry for minor wall of text. Onto questions:

1) In my Shackles campaign, the party's first [potential] captain died at the end of module 1 fighting Scourge and Plugg. He was an assassin who used the trademark Red Mantis Assassin weapons but wasn't part of their rank. To commemorate him, the new crew put the weapons over the ship nameplate and named the ship "Murder at Sea". If the Red Mantis Assassins heard about this, how would they feel?

2) Would they feel notably worse once this ship and crew seemed to be rising in the ranks and became a potential challenger to the Hurricane King?

Indifference is fine for both answers. I just want to plan appropriately on if they would feel positive or negative about either of these.

AinvarG, meet the Upcoming Schedule section of the website. It certainly isn't everything in the pipeline, but it's most things with an actual release date, and plenty of links to descriptions for you to wade through.

At the top of the linked page is another link that will lead you to the 2014-2015 catalog, which shows many of the products that are upcoming and NOT listed on the schedule with actual dates.

Apparently the book in question simply hasn't been put on that list yet, so it did not come up in my search. Oh, well.

Have a great day!

Ignore my last question on Ablative Sphere. My main question is what is the AC to hit only the sphere?

Nope. At that point you're better off doing an animate object since the bones are from all over the place. That's more construct territory than undead territory.

I've done more than toy with it, but haven't gotten it off the ground. Writing a novel and/or getting my fiction published is very much one of the things I want to do with my life at some point, and has been for a few decades now...
