I would like to play out either the Kingmaker AP or the Skulls and Shackles AP, if anyone is interested post and if there are enough ill post some build constraints.

Also by the way creating a pirate fleet/ armada or nation will be possible.


I'd be interested in playing a Kingmaker campaign. I haven't gotten a chance to do that, and I've always been interested in turning a PC into someone responsible for the welfare of many as a lord.


Skull and Shackles. Never got to be a pirate


*looks at bookshelf* so ive got this book on my shelf that is called the pirate primer. It contains what is likely the most complete lexicon of the pirate "language" ive ever seen.
I would love an excuse to use it. So skull and shackles is my vote.
Ive had a rather unkind druid concept floating about depending on how deep you want to tip into the moral grey line of S+S.


either is good, but I would love a skull and shackles with Kingmaker aspects... From what I've read of the adventure path (the blurbs on the product page) we eventually get our own island perfect kingmaking material.


I could go skull and shackles, king maker is just a bit long winded imo for thread.. idk I just wanna play a duel wielding sea bastard. hahaha.

Skulls and Shackles works fine for me as well, although I initially wanted kingmaker. I haven't played either of them. But I am intrigued about fusing the two.

Seems like a trombone on a bicycle to try and do both, though stealing the KM concept for the later parts of S+S could work if we end up with more than one ship.
I remember greycloak of bowness had a fairly successful Rotrl/king maker mashup and dudemeister had some really cool additions for skull and shackles though I forget where/what they were. Might be folks to pick the brains of.


Okay, then so far i can see that most people like the Skulls and Shackles, and running multiple ships seems like a players best option since there's no reason to sink a merchant ship if you can turn it into a cannon platform.

So any campaign that ive ever done has had my players having a serious advantage. This is not just due to how much i like to continue games and not kill people off, but also because lets face it in a story, 50-90% (depending on who you read) the Heroes prevail and generally dish out a CoWA. So the way ive been having my friends set-up ability scores is by rolling 6d6 dropping 3 and keeping whichever 3 they want. So we can do that or something like a 30 point buy. (i really wish this had a polling system)

So using any of these systems will be fine.

Ability Scores:

1. Roll 6d6 dropping whichever you would like or prefer
2. 30 pt or less buy, but no stats under 10
Just please pick one, then follow through with that one. If you have something else in mind ask, and you may receive.

Traits:

3 traits- 1 must be a campaign trait from skulls and shackles. If you would like a drawback let me know and i will more then likely allow the drawback if it actually a(e)ffects your character. IE: your fighter character taking a drawback on diplomacy and never making a diplomacy check isnt a drawback. Only 1 drawback.

Flaws:

Only 1 flaw for either the bonus feat or the +3 skill points. This must be something that actually a(e)ffects your character. Im currently looking at the Flaws 1 and 2 by Robert Thompson they allow for flaws to be bought off in later levels. If you would like me to consider a flaw that you might have created, with a buy off you might have thought up talk to me about it. pretty much a case by case basis on that.

Party:

Im looking for about 4-6 but if you suggest a higher number i wouldnt mind, granted having 24 PCs and 12 pirates might not be a good idea.

As far as 3PP goes basically im allowing anything major, IE: Psionics, Path of War, other stuff i cant remember currently.
( Also for those who haven't realized it yet having at-least one PC that can create a collective would help with the multiple boat scenario. JS )

Things i dislike, Dragon Riders on a boat sorry i cant picture your dragon on a boat or it liking the fact that you where press ganged.
If you can explain in a reasonable way something you want i will work with you on it till it fits.


Last but not Least:

Ive been GMing tabletop online unsuccessfully for about a year, i have games that stop and start due to time conflicts, games that we wait on one player who forgot all about the rest of us, or there are personal conflicts of interest. I unfortunately am not a writer so i will have a hard time with some of this, creativity is not easy for me the ideas are there its just very hard for me to put words to them.

What this means for you, i will not require an essay of background to pique my interests (not saying you cant have an essay just saying that if your not a writer either you wont be DQed for it), i would like to see posts about 1-2 days with 3-4 for emergencies and such, i would really like another way to communicate with you rather then this message board IE: Skype, Email. (shouldn't probably have your name in it.)
Also the way im going to run the fights will be through roll 20, and i will accept rolls on roll20 as long as you dont make them both places. IE: roll for Init here get 5 on roll20 get 15.

I will try just about anything once, and am here to make the game fun and interesting for you, because thats fun and interesting for me. If we all have patience and try our best im sure we will all have fun

I looked it over on d20 and while i like some of it, there is a lot that isnt explained, so im gonna pick up the PDF today around noon (Central) and sit down with some friends and hash it out. If you would like to be a part of that skype call (one of the friends is in NW US and im S US) you can let me know and ill figure out a way to keep your info private and still get you into the call. EDIT:Okay so just found out their are 4 books on pact magic ranging 3 @15 and 1 @ 5. im probably gonna grab up secrets and the 5$ one, if you can think of a better combination let me know.


you should grab the pathfinder ones, they were made for pathfinder specifically the others are 3.5 ones... I don't use skype, more a fan of the written word then the spoken one.

I see one that is specifically d20 that is Pacts and Pawns (5$) is that the one that you are talking about or are you talking about the Pact Magic Unbound Set 1&2 (13&15)?? after that there is Secrets of Pact Magic and Villains of Pact Magic.

As far as the call, ill look into these for you and come back with some opinions and we can go from there. on here. Also i see your the same guy that might be doing the Dragons of the West Campaign. (im also hoping to get a slot) Good Luck and i hope you get it, the Aegis stuff that you wrote was really interesting.

hmmm, no really high scores like I would have expected, but everything well above average so no complaints.


DOH!! I forgot Gold and how much you start with, The d20 website has the starting gold that you can roll for each class, if you get under the average then you get the average. Please Roll on here.

Edit: APG classes as far as i know do not have a gold amount, you can roll either of the APG classes that mix. Arcanist is a mix of Wizard and Sorcerer so you can roll either of those.

Also Akadi a friend and I found that by increasing the Dice Amount you can actually increase the Minimum that is rolled while also minimally a(e)ffecting the odds of rolling the maximum I have a really cool program that showed me some really cool stuff and its pretty awesome.


Any racial restriction? I'd love to play a Sea Scarred Skinwalker.

I built a warpriest of Besmara for skull and shackles during the playtest but never got to really do anything with him. He takes 1 level of gunslinger and the rest is warpriest, though I'm thinking of trading out the level for amateur gunslinger and calling it a day. Count me interested and I'll update his point buy/build later. His level progression plan is in the alias, but don't worry about the mythic stuff as that was for what we were doing in the playtest.


I've had a reincarnating samsaran druid on my brain for a while that could do horrible things in an ocean based campaign.
Would you be cool with Samsaran as a race?

I like the Skinwalker thematically, im a little worried about an over abundance of changing, but with the shark im less worried due to it not being an air breather. If you could come up with (in your mind) a fair number of times he can change per day id be more comfortable, but other then that no problem.

Love the new name, my only question on the Drawback is this actually a drawback? in that i mean how often are you going to be rolling skill checks in combat? and waiting 6 seconds and then trying a new check seems like a really easy way around it. Basically will this a(e)ffect you?

Sorry Alabaster im not sure how else to do maps and im already quite familiar with roll20.

: I actually have played a Samsaran Wizard it was quite fun and the spells that i managed to bring into the Wizard class where interesting. (that should answer the question about the Racial Alternative) However the way i explained the different spells from other lists was by doing background for not only his current life but giving a little bit of his past lives as well. If you could do something similar id appreciate it but it isnt necessary.

Good question. Now we are on a ship. Acrobatics, sense motive, bluff, Intimidation, escape artist, jump, bluff etc.
It also worked very well with my backgroundstory.


Well, the default number of changes per day is 3+ half your total level. Changing lasts until cancelled. As for the not being an air breather, by default you are and you can't actually breath water. Now you could go amphibious when shifting and that way you can breath water.

Found the missing link. I had thought that when you changed you changed fully into the animal, as in you are now fully a shark, but thats not true you are half shark half man. I got it, your good.

A possible solution: how would you feel if we increased the time to 1 minute or the next check? meaning that if you fail on your acrobatics check and roll to hit in the same turn you take a -2 (combat situation)// (non combat) If you fail at cooking or climbing the rigging you take a -2 on one skill check within that minute. So if you take a -2 in the next round you dont need to wait 9 rounds, however this does stop you from waiting just 1 round to get rid of the adverse a(e)ffects. i really need to learn which of those applies

If left as is, you could potentially fail your acrobatics check you could potentially total defense around the -2, not saying you would.
Another possibly broke situation is a failed knowledge local check, wait 6 seconds then knowledge History check without the -2.

If you have something or any ideas to deal with those situations let me know?

If you still feel your drawback is totally and completely fair as a drawback the way it is, then go ahead and use it, im okay with it.

Up to you, but id tray to stay away from lawful due to being a Pirate although maybe you adhere to the pirates code. anyways my only thing is that i do not want a party killer, or someone that i have to drag along kicking and screaming. but you dont seem to be going in that direction so everything should be A-Okay

Also i wasnt clear on this, you can move those scores around as needed. I know im just full of all sorts of fun little presents to make you totally overpowered
