Yeah, I get that James is chaotic, and wants to do good, but what do your fellow party members know of James other than he's sorta slick and seems to track really well? Tam and Mordecai know each other well, Stanis is easily excitable. I dunno. Maybe I'm just overreacting.
Part of the fun for me in PbP is seeing how other people portray their characters. I mean, all we're really looking at is some numbers and some words. I set up the narration, and run the combats, I just... don't want that to be all this game is about. You're supposed to be coming together as a group that wants to found a kingdom together. If I'm moving too fast for you guys to talk about stuff, tell me.
Heck, feel free to use this board to talk about stuff you would ask in character if I move on and you really want to know. I just get the impression that you're all essentially 4 strangers, with the exception of Mordecai and Tam traveling together. The most social stuff you do is when I introduce an NPC, and even that is limited to Q&A for the most.

Not that I am drawing parallels, or anything. This group is RP gold in comparison.
But I will also add that KM is rather crap for heavy RP. We are out in the wilds, mapping a frontier. We do not KNOW that we will be setting up a fledgling nation 3 levels from now, so it would be weird to discuss it.
What we could do is the "Grandia Mealtime" bit, where the characters sit down and discuss things, and talk about relevant topics around dinner. A natural setting that does not seem like bad movie-exposition banter.
Also, we do not have a shining beacon of awesome charisma that gets the social ball rolling. And, we are all men. We usually don't give two coppers about how the other is feeling, so it would be doubly weird to me if... well anyone but James, I guess... started talking about such things without incentive.

Which is why I don't play male characters, because this sorta stuff does not occur to me.
Haha. Carry on. :)
Tam Hawke
hmm well I have a question (will mold reactions and char over this) how old does the rest of the party look? I mean tam obviously young man and mord mid 20's
and personally? I look forward to this game all day lol between this and a few other games I have a self char game/vulf/ and tam makes my day to let loose and be a char without having to worry bout b#@$$!*&.
So as sidenote this is like only the first week we have hung out together (the chars) so im sure party will loosen up a bit after a while that is until outsider comes in then process comes back all over again haha
Tam Hawke
now if only i could find a homebrew or nother KM game that will allow me to play this stinking paladin grrr lol
really don't like it when they make really neat and fun classes and then make them irrelevant with vast majority of encounters being underground
see huge 8th level druid sitting out side ready to help party as the rest block the tunnel and get slaughtered by owlbear haha
GM Aria
How many kingmaker groups do you need to be in? *laughs*
Glad that you like my game. There's some dude on the boards who wants to get into a game, but he wants an experienced GM, and I figured that wasn't me. *laughs*
I'd like to get into a Kingmaker Game that is Kingmaker and not the GM's public misery porn and wankfest. But I am excited about the parallel game the GM has assured me I got into. Oh yeah, bard prostitute priestess of Calistria. Can't wait.
Ali Harper
Wow, that's horrible. Well I'm sure with a new player (me) gives us a new impetuous to RP more.
Played in a Star Wars game (came back from sabbatical) on Saturday, it was great even if we lost 90% of our money (again).
GM Aria
Yeah, I'm not asking you guys to social RP every night, just, you know, after battles or when you're facing new challenges. This was the first of the wood hexes, and I hope I communicated how useless the horses were for this terrain. If you want to continue with them into the woods, that's cool, but you're going to have to start worrying about having feed for them, etc, because there's not much grazing for horses in the woods.
Not to be anal, but, yeah, if it doesn't make sense in RL, I kinda want to make a point of it in game.
GM Aria
nope, tuskgutter has a spear sticking out of him. Did I forget to put that in the quest note on my profile? Woops, GM confused again. Strange. But, still, no one has responded to his suggestion to follow it as of yet. Not even Tam.
But... territorial. Meaning that this was his territory. I suppose you could track it down.
Silly GM, i guess.
Ali Harper
I had exactly the same thing with Ali's Alias with all the stats. I hit post then realised copy but it was too late. (I think with Firefox there might be a add-on to retrieve it, or something it was in one of the Post-Monster threads)
Ali Harper
Stupid question, but do you want us to roll the (Perception) checks? Or is it behind the GM screen.
Don't worry about whatever, i am hard on my characters. My SW one is on 2 wounds & 10 ability points down :O
Ali Harper
Sorry about this but off to sleep now. See you in 8 hours.
GM Aria
Wee! So much to love in one day! Don't have to have a bazzilion links bookmarked for my games any more, and I don't have to feel like I'm kicking your arses to talk to each other and own this game!
Now, if only I was grilling steaks for dinner and my husband suddenly descended from the clouds to share a beer with me my day would be complete!
GM Aria
Pacifico Clara. It's... better than Corona, but as widely available here. I'm a huge beer snob, and I like trying out new things, but even after living in Norway, it's kinda hard for me to justify going out and spending upwards of $15 dollars on a single beer just for myself. It's cheap and dirty, but I like the dry taste.
So. Cal is the worst place to live if you like Guinness and prefer extra stout. It's almost never what I like to call "Guinness weather" here. Which is cool and overcast.
GM Aria
Okie, I'll wait a bit and see if tam and mord have anything to add before we move on. If not, by this evening, I'll have a post up to that very effect!
:)
And just for being super special awesome and making this GMs day brighter, I'll have James track the boar's den for Mord. Coz I'm in a good mood.
Ali Harper
I want to thank everyone and apologise for deceiving you (or trying lol) by disguising Ali up as a man. It's just it is a fun trope and the previous time i tried it, it ended up even less sucessful. Anyway that was hilariously difficult trying to get the personal pronouns correct.
James Herecea
Aria, you mind if I godmod having slept with Kesten? I've been meaning to do a bit of rping with the group and with him and right now it seems the group would be a bit more important and I'd find it funny if I came in for a meal right after roll in the hay. If not, no big.
GM Aria
Do I mind?
Not today I don't. I mean. I've only been hinting at his desire to lay with you every freaking time you've seen him. Hahaha. I was beginning to wonder if I was being too subtle. :P
I'm in a good mood today.
There might be some tequila to celebrate later.
Edit
Tam, now don't be upset because you got called out on bad behavior.
Ali Harper
Spot the straight line. I'm a sucker for a straight-line even if it doesn't make sense.
Best one was:
Friend A : 'You don't want a battle of wits with Chris.'
Friend B : 'I know i don't fight unarmed men.'
Me : :)

Alright, looking at the map, the Bandits are said to be at Thorns Ford to the SW. Setting out at dawn (possibly with horses what was there movenet like through the forest? If we move to the SW Hex (Aria have we explored this?), taking 8hrs (12 with Mordecai armoured up?), Then we go to the next SW Hex where there is a ford. taking another 8 hours then carefully follow the river to the ford. Tam scouts out slightly ahead of us (1/2 mile at most).
If the Bandits are there, we approach silently. Having tied up our horses 1 mile away. It will be dusk/ night What is the moon like? Who has night vision? we creep towards the camp, if Stanis Sleeps either the sentries or sleeping soldiers. Then we attack. Ali is limited in offence & her channelling is not 'selective', but the life link is very useful.
If they are not we go to the SE Hex and try the same process.
GM Aria
Assuming you guys tackle the adjacent forest hex for mapping? or simply riding out?
This is a pretty charged question. If you ride out yeah...
I am in need of more sleep, so I will let you discuss amongst yourselves a bit more, otherwise I'm likely to post confusing crap rather than anything insightful to base actions upon.
Ali Harper
I would say we ride straight through the hex's mapping near an enemy camp is just inviting an ambush and death. We ride take them and then we can map.
Anyway, yes, get more sleep. :)
Ali Harper
The West or South-West, Aria? Because if it is SW then that is too close to a potential bandit camp to be spending 2 days mapping, whilst the woman wonders why Happs has not returned!
Personally i think we take out these people before they attack Olegs in greater force; or report to the Stag Lord! After we get rid of these we can explore ensure the safety of Olegs', because this camp seems independant of the Stag lord according to Matis (having not seen him). The Stag Lord probably has many bands like Happs' roaming the area so will not notice there departure, but the woman will notice Happs' (every night with her cold sheets).
Of course if the west hex is unexplored we could choose that but it leaves Olegs' slightly vulnerable. & in the forest it takes 2 days to map so...
The final thing is do we take horses, they could allow us to escape eespecially over plains but are a hinderance in forests, but are a good pack animal.
GM Aria
Indeed intelligent Ali. And you are free to do so. It seems that there are not many adverse to your plan to simply act at this moment.
And that is a very clever point about the horses. Very clever. But, as only stanis seems to have chimed in with a "hey, it's go time" vote and Tam's is rather ambiguous, I am reluctant to proceed until you've guys given me a clear course of action.
Ali Harper
Yes move with the river, it also allows easier passage for our mounts, as the bank will be clear of undergrowth and relatively flat. Though this does not mean our progress will be faster just less hindered (?)
The river movement also coincides with the Hex move i posted above.
Ali Harper
BTW i have been posting here mainly to avoid, filling up the IC thread & because i don't think Ali knows that much about this IC (she definitely cannot read a map lol)
See you tommorrow
