While Mollok and Iason try to find out how the lenses have to be placed correctly Eshshah communicates with the wisps.
"This device is dangerous, it controls the weather and can cause earth quakes! We don't know how to activate or disable it. The professor knows how it's working. But all students have to wear their amulets! Go find the amulet and the professor, and maybe you will find out how to handle the device." the wisps answer.

Iason studies the steles with his brows knit but finally turns away. "I believe I can replace the lenses, but the full scope of this machine is still beyond me. More study would be needed."
When he registers that Clandelve is being affected by spells, Iason adds on, "But perhaps not now. This place seems dangerous. Perhaps this amulet would help. I suggest we come back when we've found it, and be prepared to spend significant time with it."
Hopefully we'll be able to collect those bonuses, but it's worth considering as a strategy point to think about if we can rest overnight and if we have any spells that might further assist with boosting skill checks, or the like. Anyway, for now I suggest we keep exploring. I've kind of lost track of where we've been and not been. Not able to uncover the mysteries of the Azlanti device you continue your investigation of the island, hoping to find more clues regarding the old magic, the device and about what happened to the villagers.
Iason leads the group to another ruin. Piles of white shale litter the ground before a twisting, broken spire near a high cliff. Large white flakes constantly slough off the top and sides of the tower and plummet to the ground and sea below, as if the spire was still growing like some out-of-control mollusk. A gaping hole provides entry to the lower floor.
The tower sheds large flakes of a thin, constantly growing, shell-like material. These shards slice dangerously through the air.
These ruins are a malfunctioning example of Azlanti organic architecture.

Clandelve dodges the dangerous shards and listens sullenly to Etrigan's taunting rhyme.
Once out of earshot of the others, the dwarf looks squarely at the demon, sick of his jibes and little finger waves.
The dwarf spits as a piece of shard strikes the devil, then tries his hand at a poem of his own.
"Come Etrigan, ye demonic prick,
"We'll search th' tower together...it will be sweel,
"But if somethin' kills ye, A'll laugh myself sick,
"Ain send ye back tae yer haem in heel."
One side of his lip curls up as he enters the tower, clearly not trusting the demon, but perhaps a little satisfied that his rhyme, if nothing else, amused himself.

Previously...
The skillful devil is clearly getting under Clandelve's skin, though the dwarf remains amused at his own rhyme. The dwarf does not understand the temporary nature of summoned creatures (or iambic pentameter, for that matter). Still, he can't resist a jibe back.
"Yer rhymes ur clever...I'll give ye 'at. Tay clever by half fur a servant," Clandelve says.
"I've bin meanin' tae ask hoo Ah can get one ay mah own. When we ur dain haur, Eh'd loch tae hae someain fetch mah slippers an' amuse me wi' rhymes. Yoo're a downrecht useful slave...I'll concede 'at," the dwarf snarls.
Thanks for the back and forth with Etrigan. I'm enjoying it immensely. A very cool sidekick you've created. :) As for the lizard, Clandelve is most definitely exploring with his hammer in hand! Especially next to Etrigan! :)
Currently...
With his mind on other matters, Clandelve barely has time to get his hammer up to strike the creature barreling at them.
"Back, beest!"

The shard of rock hits Etrigan, and darkish blood momentarily appears-- before the wound instantly seals as if it never was.
(Outside, Iason grimaces where he's sitting, and raises a hand to his nose which has just started bleeding. He fishes out a handkerchief to dab away the blood, and then a wand, as well.)
Etrigan steps in and does as his nature bids him... His mouth and talons erupt once more in flame.

(Thanks, Clandelve, I'm glad you're enjoying him from an RP perspective. I'm enjoying the rest of the party too!)
Etrigan laughs merrily at the dwarf's words, even as he spits out chunks of lizard flesh.
"Oh! 'Tis not so hard, to acquire
"A servant as loyal and useful as me!
"A ~small~ sacrifice is all that's required:

Etrigan grins and gives the shaken Clandelve a friendly wink.
"He knows. He chose. Some men prize goals
"Beyond their own immortal souls."
Etrigan rips out a chunk of the lizard's still-twitching corpse in order to stuff his fanged gob with it. The monster seems content to stay within the dangerous area of shattering rock fragments for a few more seconds, at least while he has a hot, steaming meal to feast on, and his keeper is suffering any potential damage.

Most of you find shelter in the tower. No shards are falling down inside. Inside the tower Clandelve looks around and finds horn, buried under flakes fallen from the shell-like walls.
Etrigan rips the lizard apart and starts to eat it.
Something inside the animal radiates faint divination magic.
The horn radiates faint conjuration magic.

"Etrigan! Get out from the raining shards or I'll stop taking the pain for you," Iason orders his servant, in irritation. Growling, the hell-creature obeys-- but drags the lizard corpse with him, unwilling to relinquish his meal.
Seized by a sudden suspicion as if a voice in the sky had suggested something to him ;) , Iason casts detect magic. He frowns at the result, then turns to Etrigan. "Keep eating."
The monster pauses, side-eyeing his master.
"In all the years I've served your whim
"You've never bade me indulge mine
"It's always, 'Etrigan, stop eating him!'
"Or 'Etrigan! Blood isn't wine!' "
The Chelish man rolls his eyes. "Just do as you're damn well told, Etrigan."
