About Kiyomi Foxsoul


Unlike other kitsune, Kiyomi was not born as kitsune. Instead, she was born as an ordinary fox. When she was about two years old, a young witch named Yali found her, and the two forged a bond, making Kiyomi into Yali's familiar. Yali was a kind benefactor for Kiyomi for many years, but Yali longed for a human companion, as opposed to a fox. She researched ways to turn Kiyomi human for many years, until one day when she met another witch named Agatha. Agatha told her of a spell which could transform Kiyomi into a person, giving Yali her long-wished-for friend. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Yali or Kiyomi, Agatha was part of a coven of hags, and was working to recruit Kiyomi into the coven. Agatha promised to show Yali the secret of turning Kiyomi into a human in exchange for a bit of her hair, and Yali, young, eager, and naieve, agreed.
True to her word, Agatha helped Yali cast a spell which would theoretically change Kiyomi into a human. The spell didn't work QUITE perfectly, and instead made Kiyomi into a kitsune, but Yali was more than happy with the result; though Kiyomi could no longer function as her familiar, she could now be her lifelong friend.
Unbeknownst to Yali, Agatha and her coven cast a spell which warped poor Yali's mind, convincing her to join the coven as well. Yali stole off in the middle of the night, and Kiyomi followed her, only to witness the horrendous ritual which would induct Yali into the coven. Frightened and hurt, Kiyomi ran long and hard to get away from the evil witches who had corrupted her best friend.
Kiyomi now wanders, doing odd jobs for the Pathfinder Society, wishing she could return to her old life. She has since learned to transform back into her original fox form, and spends most of her time in that form, feeling more comfortable than in her strange humanoid hybrid form. She has also learned to change into a human for short periods of time, allowing her to infiltrate human society when necessary.
