From Ash, Regrowth

Game Master Wrong John Silver

The Chitterwood has lain in ruins, a burned-out shell of its former self.

From the ramshackle remote outpost of the Drunken Silkworm Inn, an intrepid band working under the auspices of the Green Faith plan to regrow the forest.

1 to 50 of 239 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | next > last >>

The Drunken Silkworm is a run-down inn and tavern about four hours east of Logas in Isger, along the charred border of the Chitterwood. Although it is located along the Conerica Straits trade routes linking Cheliax, Andoran, and Druma, most travelers pass the place by--perhaps stopping for a meal, at most.

The Drunken Silkworm used to be known as a major hub for the Avistani silk trade, back in the days that the silkworm flourished in the Chitterwood. Before the Goblinblood Wars. Before the Chitterwood was burned down. Now it sits, slowly decaying as trade passes it by.

But, for whatever reason, you happen to be at the inn. Perhaps you stopped for an hour, perhaps you have been living there for a time. As fate would have it, you are there when evening falls and a half-elf, with pale skin and heavily slanted dark eyes, clad in a green tunic over leather, scimitar by her side, walks in and proclaims, "My name is Crecimi De Bosques, and I have been tasked with the regrowth of the Chitterwood. I am looking for those who would be interested in helping."

Character Creation Guidelines:

* 20 point buy.
* 2 traits from different categories.
* 1st level, full HP for your HD.
* Any alignment.
* All Paizo material with the exception of the Advanced Class Guide--no playtest material.
* Any Core, Featured, or Uncommon race from the Advanced Race Guide. HOWEVER, do not expect to be treated like a normal person should you choose something bizarre. Prejudice is alive and well in Isger.
* Maximum starting gold for your class.
* A long character background is not required. The background should reflect why you are at The Drunken Silkworm in the evening, and reflect your trait choices.
* I do NOT like the default output from HeroBuilder. The layout is excellent for an NPC or critter for combat, but it is not appropriate, in my opinion, for a PC. I want to see builds, choices, math behind bonuses, and so on. Please feel free to use HeroBuilder, but I will NOT accept a simple output from it for your character.

Recruitment Method:

Recruitment will occur in three phases.

In Phase 1, I will be accepting characters. Any character reviewed and approved by me before 11:59pm, December 19, will enter Phase 2. Please get your submissions in! If you submit at 11pm on the 19th and I don't review it in time, you won't get in. I will be reviewing characters throughout the week and answering any questions and am willing to help you have the character you want.

In Phase 2, character creation will be closed, and interaction will commence. Interact with each other, NPCs, etc. This interaction will be key, as it will lead into the next and final phase.

In Phase 3, the most coherent band of characters by the end of Phase 2 will be selected as the party. The group will consist of 4-6 characters. This group should be clear from the interaction and how well the NPCs feel about the group. I -might- run a second table if I find time, but don't count on it.

Presenting Harrolayne, an aasimar, currently an oracle of nature, planning on advancing 4 levels as a fey-bloodlined sorcerer, then taking mystic theurge at 6th level.

The was the third daughter of a minor noble in Taldor. Her father angered the Wildwood druids by harvesting blackwood without permission (desperate for the influx of cash), and Harrolyne was kidnapped by the druids and held in the forest by fey as punishment. She herself was well treated, and eventually lost her snobbish, aristocratic urban polish and fell in love with her nature prison (the latent agathion blood in her veins might have helped her transformation).

Every now and then, she falls back into her aristocratic ways, but she has set out on a mission to explore the world and see its natural beauties. The opportunity to help restore such a natural beauty would not be one to pass up.

In combat, her approach will be to use her compulsion spells to turn enemy into ally (if only for a time), and when faced with creatures unaffected by such means, she'll have several buff spells to fall back on to help her existing allies shine. She is also a skilled Diplomat and speaks several languages (I left one undecided until seeing which game opens up and for which I could try to submit her). If she's traveling through an area that once (or still does) had lots of goblins, that would be a likely choice that she could have picked up.

I have re-used this alias. Earlier, she was an important NPC from a campaign I had run on these boards, so any of the previous posts with this alias are completely unrelated to the current character (though I guess they are both kind of snobbish).

Harrolayne: I'll review in detail later, but note that the Summon Nature's Ally II racial spell-like ability is not a 2nd-level divine spell (it's not a spell, either), and so does not count towards the requirements to Mystic Theurge. Feel free to tinker if this means your strategy will change.

According to the latest FAQ stuff, it does count towards those requirements, and since it's from the druid list, I would assume it counts as a divine spell, rather than arcane.

It's still not a 2nd-level spell, though, but a spell-like ability.

In any case, I'm not counting it.

Interested! I can finish up Thorgrund here in a day or two.

Presenting Thorgrund Bronnsson, Dwarf Ranger (skirmisher).

From the FAQ:
Spell-Like Abilities, Casting, and Prerequisites: Does a creature with a spell-like ability count as being able to cast that spell for the purpose of prerequisites or requirements?
Yes.
For example, the Dimensional Agility feat (Ultimate Combat) has "ability to use the abundant step class feature or cast dimension door" as a prerequisite; a barghest has dimension door as a spell-like ability, so the barghest meets the "able to cast dimension door prerequisite for that feat.

Edit 7/12/13: The design team is aware that the above answer means that certain races can gain access to some spellcaster prestige classes earlier than the default minimum (character level 6). Given that prestige classes are usually a sub-optimal character choice (especially for spellcasters), the design team is allowing this FAQ ruling for prestige classes. If there is in-play evidence that this ruling is creating characters that are too powerful, the design team may revisit whether or not to allow spell-like abilities to count for prestige class requirements.

RAW - Harrolayne is correct; however DM Wrong is always free to house rule differently.

Are you open to allowing some of the variant rules from Ultimate Combat? (I was thinking creating a Rogue (Scout) who debuffs, both through talents and through called shots). Like punches to the throat to stop a sentry from crying out and the like (also useful versus casters, because of the 20% failure to spells with vocal components)

I have this idea of a Catfolk Brawler(Fighter archetype) later multiclassing into Untouchable Rager (Barbarian archetype). He would have spent the last few years of his life working/living in the tavern as security of sorts, for little more than food, bed and board.

In personality he will be very catlike. Taking a while to warm to someone but then being hard to shake, regardless of what others think of him. Chaotic Good by nature, very protective of those he cares about. Jumpy, prefers to sneak up on an opponent and dart out of the shadows then beat them senseless. He will fall back initially if suppressed (at least at the start).

Will that do for background for now?

I assume you want a full character profile before the 19th.

Thanks, Mark!

I think my point here is that if the requirement is "Cast a Summon Nature's Ally spell" or "Cast a divine spell" then yes, I'd agree, the spell-like ability counts. However, since the requirement is "cast a 2nd-level divine spell" and spell-like abilities don't technically have levels, it doesn't count towards this particular requirement.

A 2nd level spell indicates a particular level of learned mastery in spellcasting, and someone with a spell-like ability has not yet demonstrated that mastery.

So I'm sorry if that throws a wrench into your character progression idea, Harrolayne, but I'd rather you know about it up front, before play, while you have a chance to change things.

Thorgrund: Looks good to start, will review in more detail when I have the chance. Make sure the background explains why you're at the inn.

Chris Parker: I'm open to it, but let's review what you have in mind beforehand.

PhilOfCalth: The background looks fine, but I'd like to know what a catfolk is doing so far from home.

The simple answer is he was wandering until he found this place. His background is not fully fleshed out in my head yet but his personality is.

I'll make the full profile over the next few days.

For phase 2 it would be really handy we had a few NPCs as staff or regulars from The Drunken Silkworm. My catfolk would know them relatively well. He might even have favourites.

Well, starting at first level, I'd be a fairly standard Rogue (Scout). he'll have Martial Weapon Proficiency in kukri, because a kukri is a really good tool for various outdoors stuff, like chopping wood to build a fire and the like, and weapon finesse. He'll be trained in skills that are useful for being outdoors, such as climbing and swimming, perception, survival and the like, as opposed to more urban skills like sleight of hand or disguise.

At second level, he'll take Combat Expertise so he can take Improved Called Shot at third. Eventually, he'll pick up Improved Unarmed Strike, and meanwhile he'll take talents that focus on reducing an enemy's ability to fight effectively.

Actually, the bestiary states you follow the Wizard/Sorcerer list, if it's not that, there's a hierarchy (cleric, druid, etc). Otherwise, the save DC for all spell like abilities would be based off it being a 1st level spell. A quick check of the bestiary shows monsters spell-like ability save DC's are based on the level of the spell per the indicated list (W/S, or Cleric, etc depending on the spell).

Not arguing against a houserule, just pointing out the bestiary rules.

Question for character creation, is everyone supposed to be a druid/nature oracle/ranger type? Or is it wide open? The reason I ask is, just from the lead in, it seems like people who can grow things are the primary resource the guy is looking for.

It's wide open. There are lots of reasons that someone might be willing to help out revitalizing a forest. Commercial, mercenary, arcane, what have you. There's no need to be a nature-type.

And no, the campaign isn't going to be, "Cast a bunch of Plant Growth spells all day long, every day, for the next five years!" It's an adventuring party. You guys will have adventures. What will also become clear is that the regrowth of a forest involves lots of challenges that are NOT related to nature--political, logistical, the fact that it's along a trade route, all the hidden goblins, all that.

That's fine, GM. I'll pull Harrolayne from consideration, then. She was built as a test for these new rules, to see how they worked out, so there's not much point in building her without them.

Have a good game, all.

Ivan Merlovich

Background:

It's funny; I haven't been back to Korvosa in so long, yet I still find myself thinking about that place. It wasn't that bad a place to grow up, I suppose; not if you were moneyed, but if you were stone broke like my parents, things were very different. I grew up near the docks. I don't really remember my parents; they died when I was very young, and I've lived longer without them than with. I spent a couple of years living off of what I could beg, before eventually a man named Gaedren Lamm made me an offer. Room and board in exchange for a little light work, he said. I really, really wish I hadn't believed him.

After six months living as a slave, I got my chance. I'd behaved myself pretty well, so they gave me a day of "Street Duty" - pick pocketing, essentially. I'm not a huge fan of theft, but I reckoned it was the best chance I was going to get to leave and not come back, so I went out onto the streets of Korvosa, stowed away on a wagon headed through the gates, and left. The wagon had been carrying weapons; I stole one, reckoning it wouldn't be missed, and I left the wagon some twenty miles from the gate, hungry and thirsty and wanting to find some kind of food. I'd killed the odd rat for food before Lamm, so surely I could survive.

Well, I survived. I got quite good at hunting with that strange, curved dagger I'd stolen from that wagon. As I got older, I even started heading back into town to trade fresh game for coin. I needed to leave; to find somewhere else. So I wandered the wilderness, until I eventually found a small village on a trade route. That was some five years ago. I still prefer sleeping under the stars, but I come into the village fairly regularly to trade for various useful items. Besides, I like a nice mug of mead every now and then.

The Exchange

This seems like an interesting hook, and I want to submit a character soon but don't have a concept yet. I've never played by post before, and this would actually be my first run at a Pathfinder character (although I know d20/3.5 quite well), so are there any specifics about format or posting that I should know about for this game?

*Peeks in from top of door-frame*

Well developed characters, an interesting campaign, and the lack of an arcane caster submitted thus far? Count me in! Being the wizard fanatic I am I'm going to try something new...perhaps diviner style? Yeah, I'm going to try a Lashunta diviner. If that race is ok.

Added/changed a few things...I do hope my maths are correct!

Anyway, I'll have a little background and better description up later. Youngest kid is home from school, and I apparently am keeping him from the computer at the moment...<sigh>...parenthood...oy!

Tamis Thimble for submission. Gnome druid, with her faithful Roc, Cloud. Background and Personality will be updated later today or early tomorrow.

@Thorgrund... spelling mistake on AC... though 117 AC would make you quite the tank.

Tamis Thimble wrote:

D'oh! Good catch...fixed now <hangs head sheepishly>

On that note, I may change his armor and kind of make him "tankish"...

Dotting fer now. Need to consult my pragmatism and see if I can squeeze in another PbP.

What's the posting frequency, please?

The Exchange

I'm leaning towards a gnome alchemist from Umok who has been exploring the Chitterwood looking for new and interesting ingredients or formulae. Got some ideas for traits and possibly alternative racial traits from ARG if those are cool. I'll have more background and actual mechanical stuff in the next few days, but for now consider that my intended character.

Daisy Honeywick, Halfling Paladin of Erastil.

Delara Shadowpaw, delinquent and runaway.

Concept:
After a series of failed relationships and familial disappointments, Delara ran away from home looking to make her mark on the world. This just might be her chance.

Build:
A catfolk rogue or ninja built towards pouncing with her claws. Included in her stat block is the Drawback + Bonus trait option from Ultimate Campaign (Doubt and Lesser Noble), but those would be easy to take out if you don't want me to use them. I'd rather build her as a ninja with the Scout archetype after this first level, but that's dependent on whether or not you feel that ninjas should be allowed to take rogue archetypes. If you don't feel like it's kosher, then she'll just run with rogue.

Will you be using maps for combat?

Very happy to see this:

Ketomir was born in a farmstead on the edge of the Chitterwood - his mother (an Andoran) was a retired high functionary of Gozreh and his father an Isgeri soldier, both killed in violence that spilled over during the Goblinwood Wars and the farmstead subsequently gifted to another noble. Ketomir was then a youth, away at the time, ostensibly studying to become a devout follower of Gozreh, but in reality was more of a wastrel in Logas. Avoiding the Thrune led purge of Gozreh and brainwashing of youth to the pleasure of Asmodeus, Ketomir escaped to Almas in Andoran, and half-starved and close to death found sanctuary in a temple of Sarenrae.

Drawing on his mother's religious fervor, and his father's martial legacy, Ketomir burned with anger and zeal, and in recognition of this the Temple trained Ketomir as an Inquisitor of Sarenrae.

Ketomir has returned to the land of his birth to see justice done for his family name and holdings, and to see the beautiful Chitterwood of his youth returned to glory. Sadly, Ketomir is as much haunted by his orphan state as he is enamored of his upbringing. He is guarded emotionally, and finds little in Cheliax or House Thrune to delight in.

Ketomir has been staying at the Drunken Silkworm for three weeks, avoiding official scrutiny and embarking on scouting missions to his old homestead, and keeping an eye on local bandits and listening with horror to rumors of undead.

DM Wrong - I'd be happy to take the Haunting Regret Drawback to reflect Ketomir's bereft and sorrowful state. Haven't chosen traits as yet… This is an old alias submitted for a Birthright Campaign I removed from selection.

Selected Child of the Temple that ties in with Ketomir's later upbringing in the Temple in Almas

and

the Anatomist trait to reflect Ketomir's Inquisitor's training in the Healer's Hall - Sarenrae's portfolio includes the Healing domain.

Taking the Heresy Inquisition (again, a suggested Inquisition of Sarenrae).

If the drawback is allowed, will also take the Truth's Agent trait.

My Catfolk Brawler crunch is done: Samwise Zithembe

The profile should have all the rules on it as clean as posible. Let me know if I missed anything.

Someone else will have to carry the torches because Samwise is a two weapon fighter. He's kinda optimised towards keeping the big-bad busy while everyone else clears the room/gets sneak attacks.

I will be looking into getting some masterwork shields and armour ASAP!

Fluff to follow (no pun intended)

If I may ask, DM Wrong, do you mean by this the default output from HeroLab? If so, I am interested in submitting a character for this campaign, but I'd also like to ask if you would mind looking at some other characters I have in other campaigns and see if the character information I have in their profiles is up to your expectations. Here are some links to a few of them:

Úlfhedinn Sigmundarson

Aladir Cyruthion

Gideon Derexhi

Thank you for your feedback!

PhilOfCalth a couple of things on your sheet:

Stuff:
How did you get Fortitude to +5? +2 from fighter, +2 from Con, and +1 from . . . ?

Similarly, how did you get a +6 to CMB? +1 from BAB, +2 from Strength, +3 from . . . ?

You list that you have 2 ranks in Perception at level 1, but you can't have more ranks in a skill than you have Hit Dice.

You already have Shield Proficiency as a fighter, so my guess is that you meant to put down Improved Shield Bash or Shield Focus for your second feat.

Tonfa is misspelled.

And you reminded me to fix a few things on my own sheet, thanks!

Well I feel sheepish. I didn't read other people's ideas before posting Delara, and now I realize I've somewhat copied both Chris Parker (two-weapon Scout) and PhilofCalth (Catfolk hit-and-run).

I'll leave her in for now, but start work on a different character concept as well. If I come up with something else that I like that doesn't step on the toes of other characters, I'll pull her. Sorry Phil and Chris!

Here is my Lashunta wizard. She's a true neutral diviner who spends most of her time in the wild amongst her own people, the elves, and druids. Schooled by the elves and born a lashunta she is quite knowledgeable, and is confident to the point of recklessness. If an argument or debate arises she can argue with somebody for a very long time, her stubbornness only accented by her logic. Besides that Ashtari is a beautiful, exotic creature, and if you can see past or aren't bothered by her antennas. She knows this, occasionally using her charm to find information and get past locked doors.

The story of the destruction of the chitterwood always saddened her, as growing up with wild elves and druids have given her a deep respect and love of the wild. So when rumors of regrowth had begun to spread, she made her way to the Drunken Silkworm to discover if there was any truth to them.

Love to hear opinions/feedback (from anybody, not just the DM)!

Also, yes. I do not know common. I have an abundance of racial languages, but I'm just waiting for somebody to make a 10 INT human fighter or something lol. Although this can be changed if the DM thinks not knowing is a bad idea (or I could just learn it with a linguistics rank later).

I think it might bog down play a little though, having to have someone translate everything that's said in Common for the one person who doesn't speak it, but I think it would be kinda wild if a party collectively spoke something other than Common because one of their group doesn't speak it.

@Ashtari I like the character idea, and you speak Halfling, so, to me it's not a problem. In fact, our characters might get along pretty well if we are both chosen. BUT, you didn't understand the half-elf speaking to the room of people, so how do you know how to respond? (Not saying it's impossible to get in on it, but just giving you some food for thought, should the DM allow your choice of no Common.

Liberty's Edge

Regrow a forest, ravaged by wars?

Druid time! I'll see what I can cook up!

@Witch's Knight. Well hopefully it won't be a "this person simply can't communicate" thing since I have a lot of common racial languages. Although it would be interesting if I changed my familiar to one that could speak (such as a raven), give them the common language, then when they learned the speak with master ability they could be my talking device.

@Daisy. First of all, I love your character. Name, picture, build and all. Her build is hilarious, it's pretty much "nobody dies ever". And you make a good point...perhaps I come to social occasions with a friend who translates for me? Or maybe I just shout in elven "Hey, what was that?"

Edit: New strategy, comprehend languages!

@Ashtari: Pooey. I really liked the idea of having your familiar translate for you. That's a cool image.

New strategy until my familiar can pull off such a thing ;)

Liberty's Edge

Question, DM: how long ago was Chitterwood burned down?

Korrum Here, half-orc storm druid, ready to bring his homeland back to life and figure out what went wrong.

Korrum is pretty laid back for a half-orc. he finds food when he's hungry, talks when he has something to say, and likes to be outside when it's storming. He'll get along with anyone until they pick a fight; after he's done bloodying them and they call it quits, he's just as likely to help them to their feet.

Fortitude was wrong, don't know how I got to +5

CMB 6 = BAD 1 + Str 2 + Dex 3... No it's not... Fixed
Forgot about maxing out ranks... Smeg.. I also forgot to take my extra rank for leveling in my preferred class
Improved Shield bash is what I was after
Not sure where I got Tofa from, but I seem to have run with it!

Thanks for looking over my sheet. I really should have walked away from it for a while and came back to it with a fresh head before submitting!

Neutral Small Construct Ranger

Background:

Kinisthatristranath was one of a dozen wyrwood created by the arch-magus Kironaka Massari as a manslayer and guide. A construct capable of serving as a 24/7 bodyguard when traveling through wilderness (Trait : Survivalist) and of being sent out to hunt down it's master's enemies (Trait : Dirty Fighter).

However, Kinisthatristranath (Or Kinis as most will call him) was never activated by his creator due to an unfortunate incident said creator had with a demon he summoned with a mislaid magical circle. After the demon finished laying waste to Massari, and his small pocket realm, the Demon returned to it's home.

Even a pocket dimension becomes unstable over time, and when this one began to fail, the contents of the pocket dimension began to be ejected into the material plane. Kinis was ejected, and activated, only a few weeks ago. He has been wandering the wilderness, having no master, and only the vaguest memories of watching his creator be eaten by a demon as he rested in his creation cradle in the arch-magus's lab.

But the construct has awakened fully cognizent of his own self, speaking common (albeit with an archaic accent), and is now struggling to find it's purpose in the world.

Ranger Abilities

Favored Enemy (Ex):
At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures.

At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.

If the ranger chooses humanoids or outsiders as a favored enemy, he must also choose an associated subtype, as indicated on the table below. (Note that there are other types of humanoid to choose from—those called out specifically on the table below are merely the most common.) If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger's bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.

Track (Ex):
A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Wild Empathy (Ex):
A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Welcome, everyone!

I apologize for my lack of posting over the past day. For the last two days I was working past midnight. So, although I would like a post a day, I'll be forgiving if you miss a day on occasion.

And yes, I mean Hero Lab, I just never use it so I got the name wrong. Ivan's PDF is fine, I just don't want to hunt for character details on a statblock that tends to hide the decision making. And Philip0614, those statblocks are precisely what I do not want to see. Split out and spell out racial abilities, class abilities, feats, skills (and where their final bonuses come from), equipment.

I will most likely not be using maps. I like them very much, but my map software skill is nonexistent. Updating a map in MS Paint is pretty much what I'm capable of.

I'm going to start reviewing characters and answering questions, but to start, a list of submissions:

Thorgrund Bronsson, Dwarf Skirmisher (Torillan)
Tamis Thimble, Gnome Druid (blondebandit)
Ivan Merlovitch, Human Scout (Chris Parker)
Daisy Honeywick, Halfling Paladin (Sheph)
Delara Shadowpaw, Catfolk Unarmed Fighter (Witch's Knight)
Ketomir Sandargaard, Human Inquisitor (Oceanshieldwolf)
Samwise Zithembe, Catfolk Brawler (PhilOfCalth)
Korrum, Half-Orc Storm Druid (Daynen)
Ashtari, Lashunta Diviner (CampinCarl9127)
Kinisthatristranath, Wyrwood Ranger (mdt)

Ashtari: The Lashunta was not on the list (Common, Featured, Uncommon). I'm going to have to decline the race choice.
Kinis: The same goes for the Wyrwood. It is in the ARG, true, but it is not Core, Featured, or Uncommon. I'm declining the race.

Oh, and for everyone, don't choose the Drow Noble.

I think that's it for questions for the moment, now it's time to start reviewing...

Apologies DM, I did not realize the distinction. After some reading I have changed her race to a Samsaran, which keeps her statistically almost the same.

Her background will stay mostly the same but I plan on adding a bit about the Samsaran culture in there.

Edit: Also DM, I found google docs a very easy and accessible way to make maps. I just started DM'ing myself and it's as easy as loading any pictures you want and rearranging them for the battle map. If you're interested I could show you a map or two.

I understand. I had thought as Ashtari did, especially since they made the Bestiary 4 and all Paizo Material was acceptable.

Enjoy your game.

Thanks for the response, good luck with your game. I won't be applying.

Also, some history:

The Goblinblood Wars took place from 4697-4701 AR. During this time, goblinoid tribes from many hidden places, but especially the Chitterwood, attacked and raided lands all across Avistan. At the end of the wars, much of the Chitterwood was put to the torch in an attempt to remove the remaining goblin bands. It was one of the few times that Chelaxian Hellknights and Andoran Eagle Knights willingly fought side by side.

This was about 12-15 years ago. The forest was burned just over a decade ago. A large number of orphans resulted from the carnage in the wars, and a number of Asmodean charities, most notably the Sisters of the Golden Erinyes, set up monasteries and orphanages for the children.

The town of Logas continues to lob boulders into the blackened Chitterwood and festoons the city walls with the corpses of goblins, all in an attempt to keep the remnant goblin forces at bay.

Some photos for an idea of what the Chitterwood looks like:
