"I could carry you." Drago interjected.

Ah, I forgot, it's a DC 20 Climb check to get into and out of the pit.

Ylrhea smiles slightly, still not entirely happy about having to go down into a pit of foul water.

What happens if you fail climbing in?

You fall, take 2d6 damage and land prone in the water.

Oh, I didn't realize how far down the water was.

Mortimus retrieves a length of rope and gives one end to the skeleton to use as an anchor.

Using a rope should only be DC 10.

We could hold one end of the rope while levitating and cross like we were a children's ballon.

That works too. In any event, let's do something. We've doddled here long enough.

Ok. Let's do that.

Alright, so who's doing what?

One of the undead will hold the rope. Nicatha casts levitate and they ferry the party across like a floating balloon one at a time.

So are we retconning the bugbear's actions?

Sure. I didn't notice that the trench was super far down.

After a few moments and much squeezing, you manage to make your way across the gap. The door into the next area crumbles at your touch. You find yourselves in a larger room. An intricate bas‐relief carving of human warriors fighting a battle against a host of orcs and goblins completely covers one long wall of this hallway. Suddenly you notice two dark robed figures lurking at the head of each departing hallway.

"Well, well, he does look like the master, doesn't he, Nivinn?" the dark elf at the southern end says.

"Hmm, yes, but the Kuthite's servants might be problematic," the other dark elf, who appears to be somewhat human as well, says. "Ah, and we have a dear sister among us, Fetheros."

"Travelling with the rabble, young one?" the dark elf named Fetheros asks Nicatha. "I am sure you are too tainted by their 'ideals' for us to make a convincing argument for you to join us. Quite sad actually. Well, I'm afraid your journey ends here, son of Chalandra, Alexandros cannot be bothered at the moment."

The drow quickly draw their weapons and tense for battle.

Initiative:

Mortimus: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Drago: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Nicatha: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Ylrhea: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Nivinn: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Fetheros: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

The dark elf quickly utters an incantation, covering himself in armor of force.

Round 1: Fetheros, Drago, Ylrhea, Nicatha, Mortimus, Nivinn

Mortimus draws a narrow length of iron and chants a spell. "You'll find me a bit more than problematic", he hisses.

DC 15 vs Hold Person on Nivinn

The bugbear steps over and bludgeons the drow.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Are those dots columns?

Yup.

"Nadhani mimi si dada yako. Wewe ni mmoja wa watu."

Lakkaran:
I think I am no sister of yours. You are not of the people.

Then Nicatha begins to invoke the spirits. "Roho za kivuli mzee, kurejea uovu wao na mimi!"

Lakkaran:
Spirits of elder shadow, turn their malice from me!

Nicatha is casting Sanctuary.

How secure/big are they? Does it look like Tiny might be able to knock one of them down?

They can be broken, but you'll more than likely cause a cave-in.

Bah! Shoddy construction I say!

After a barked order from Mortimus, the skeleton swings its massive clawed hands at the closer drow.

Ylrhea will shoot at the obvious magic-using drow.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23; Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Freakin' hell.

Drago's spell fails to overcome the drow's spell resistance, while the gnome manages to connect with a glancing blow. Nicatha quickly protects herself.

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

GM Notes:

The half-drow cannot resist Mortimus' spell and is paralyzed. Though well-armored, the bugbear's attack and one of the skeleton's claws manage to penetrate her defenses. The half-drow attempts to break the spell's hold over her.

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13; fail

"You weak-willed simpleton!" Fetheros curses. "If they killed you now, it would be a deserved fate."

Readied Action: Counterspell

Beseeching the spirits to send her aid on swift wings, Nicatha summons a shadow eagle.

Mortimus gestures for the bugbear to break away and attack the freely moving drow. After another barked command, the giant skeleton reaches out with its huge bony hands and wraps them around the held drow's neck. The ogre twists until they'res a loud SNAP.

CdG: 2d8 + 14 ⇒ (5, 1) + 14 = 20

DC 30 vs coup de gras. Bugbear moves to M8.

Mortimus glowers at the other drow. "Surrender and I may consider sparing you."

He touches the gnome with a guiding spell.

Ylrhea fires at the mage again.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15; miss...

Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 >_<

The skeleton breaks the half-drow's neck, but Fetheros seems unperturbed. "That fools got what she deserved and what she wanted. You think we actually care about our lives? You are indeed as foolish as Mistress Chalandra assessed."

The drow takes a step back from the bugbear zombie's reach and fires off three more missiles at the skeleton.

Magic Missiles: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 3 = 12 (unless Drago counters)

Recognizing the wizards gestures, Drago grinned. Oh no you don't. With a twist of his wrists, the Damphir created a small ball of energy and flung it a the Drow mage. The ball inter-weaved with the dark Elf's spell and caused it to burst into a shower of harmless sparks. "Mortimus, incapacitate him if you can. I have a couple of questions to ask him." Drago said as he watched the opposing spellcaster.

Once again, Readied Action: Counterspell

Ylrhea continues to rely on her crossbow.

The eagle claws the drow, causing another minor wound.

Fetheros assumes a defensive stance and his fingers begin to crackle with electricity.

Drago realized too late that he could not counter the spell. Not having enough time to get out of the way, the Damphir crossed his arms in front of him to brace for the impact. Having the fury of storms running through his veins softened the blow, but not by much. His vision went red as his bloodlust rose to an uncontrollable level. Uncrossing his arms, he said, "Qeelak Rifstejar," and vanished. Quickly, he moved closer to the Drow.

Only took 9 damage from that, thank the gods for electricity resistance.

Cast Vanish (invisible for 5 rounds) and moved to O-8

At those words, Nicatha will move to the back of the room with Ylrhea.

The dark elf casts defensively again.

The electricity in Fetheros' fingers fizzle as he is unable to concentrate.
