Between the tone of you voice and your body language, you must have struck a wrong note, because Shivikah caution quickly turns to rage. She slams her mug onto the table and knocks her bench back as she stands up, raising her voice just enough to be audible to everyone in close proximity.
"Let me tell you something. I've been a slaver and a pirate for longer than you'll ever be, if there's one thing I've learned in this business it's that you DON'T simply go around begging like some stupid child for aid and expecting it will come to you. You want help? You earn it. And don't you ever expect to earn my help either.
Aasimar! Bastards always think their so damn entitled."
That last line she mutters under her breath in disgust, before storming away to her another part of the hold.
Shivikah has become hostile.

monjebleu |

Satinder is staying up late to take extra actions, so if you want to shadow her, I'm afraid resting won't be an option. If you do decide to wait for her, might I interest you in a contest of chance or skill? These pirates have invented many gambling games, some which are particularly suited to a man of strength.

Lieutenant Ambrose Jeggare |

That can be arranged...

monjebleu |

As Gideon approaches the "gambling corner" of the hold, he is immediately accosted by a shifty looking halfling, who, having obviously gauged his interest in gambling, immediately begins nudging him closer to the tables. In a second his mouth is open, words pour out in an almost unintelligible slur as he explains the gambling system aboard the Wormwood.
"Well, well, well, izis a new conscript I see? Name's Rattsberger call me Ratline and it would be my pleasure to help you loose yerself, possibly yer gold, in a few delicious diversions!
Gen'rally the rules are simple:
Either issue a general challenge or a specific challenge to anyone on the ship to a game cept officers well yeh can challenge em but its a bad idea just as old Harmak beat the captain in dice not lookin verry pretty nowadays anyways we got cards dice darts all o that but if you wanna try yer hand at a contest of skill we got standard arm wrestling with a few improvements of course an we got hog lob fine game fine game players take turns throwin a lead ingot cross the deck farthest wins then there's heave very dangerous er very fun drinking game last man standing wins you might die but that part a bein a pirate.
Got it?
Excellent!
So what do yeh fancy gamblin on then?"

Lieutenant Ambrose Jeggare |

This timeline is getting rather mangled, isn't it? As I understand it, Maeleg's conversation with the Mwangi, Satinder's performance, Terz's dance, my conversation with Terz, my noticing of trouble afoot and any other assorted conversations that happened early on were the 'free' night action. Satinder's yet-to-happen competition and Gideon's gambling occur during the first 'optional' night action. Do I have this correct?
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Taking note of the unsavory events, Ambrose tries to look as though he didn't see anything. As casually as he can, he approaches Sandara to relay the warning. "There appears to be some manner of scheme being designed upon the new recruits by Ms. Bansion, Mr. Chumlet, Ms. Lonegan and Mr. Jape. I do not believe that they witnessed my observing them, but I fear that any attempt by me to warn the others would alert them to my suspicions. Would you do me the favor of giving the others notice?"

Terz "Lux" |

Lux yawns and looks to see if any of the sailors are starting to turn in. "I am getting tired."
If the night time actions are winding down and other friendlies are starting to turn in so will lux. Otherwise I will wait. No reason to get pranked or shivved

![]() |

Gideon immediately begins to roll up his sleaves
"Well, where I'm from arm wrestling is a noble profession! Let's bring some humility to the loser. Who will take me up on my offer?"
Alrighty, so is it just a standard strength roll or some other with the "improvements"?

monjebleu |

Ratline immediately seats you at a small table with another of the crew opposite him.
The two of you grasp hands, and the other pirate stares you down, flexing his arm and attempting to crush your arm in a display of intimidation.
"Rules are very simple when I say go you go simple simple first one to let their arm touch the ground loses other one takes the pot. Good good one more thing," At this point another of the pirates brings a bag from behind his back and spreads its contents, shards and chunks of jagged broken glass, all over the table. As I said before there would be some improvements now before we begin I will need you to place a bet typically money but you may bet anything you like clear?
Go!"
Place a bet then roll strength. Good luck!

Satinder Morne |

Satinder will look around, and make sure she is standing somewhere behind Gideon.
"Ratlip, is he the only one that can make a bet? Or is it open to just about anyone? I have trust in this one here, you see."
She pats Gid on the back, and whispers in his ear.

Satinder Morne |

Fine, didn't want to play this out, but you make me do it :P
Guys, Satinder is taking one for the team! ;)
"I'll bet half a gold piece on Gideon."
After Satinder notices the adversary of Gideon is not really noticing her stare, she will take it to the next level.
Calistria, aid me. I never thought I had to do this again.. But we need all the help we can get to survive this ordeal.
At the right moment, she will lick her lips, wink and blow him a kiss.

monjebleu |

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Gideon drives the opposing pirates hand into the table, causing him to let a short shriek of pain as the glass cuts into his arm. After being released, he sheepishly slinks away to nurse his wounded hand.
After making some collections from the other betting members of the crew, Ratline drops five gold pieces onto the table in front of Gideon.
"Pleasure doin' business wiv yeh! Man like you could make quite a bit a money bettin' like this every night. Quite a bit o' enemies too."
"And you lass! Normally I would disdain your ahem questionable tactics but just this once it wouldn't kill me to let it slip here's yer prize an a little extra o' course don't try it again!" he says flipping an entire good piece in Satinder's direction.
Everyone's taken their first nighttime action. Could I just get a recap of everyone's staying up late actions (if any) and what they passed the con check for staying up late?

Lieutenant Ambrose Jeggare |

I never specified my nighttime action or rolled, so I'll do that now.

![]() |

Gideon collects his pieces and flask while rising.
"A pleasure."
As he walks away to get some rest for the night he turns around "Thanks for the show though." *wink*

Satinder Morne |

"Good Gideon, you appreciate some help nicely," she says while putting away the gold piece in his back pocket.
" And believe me, I wouldn't have done it for any...well, many other men. However, since you owe me one, I've got something planned later on this evening I could require your... assistance. But I'll let you know in advance, don't worry." she says smilingly, while tucking away her shirt in a slightly less provocative way.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find my boss.."
Tomorrow, we'll find out how much 4 gp buys you on a ship. Musketeer, start praying hard to Calistria! ;)
Satinder was going to find Grok and Fishguts and try to influence them by organising a drinking contest between those two. She would favour the cup of Grok slightly, and offered a kiss for the winner.
Satinder will still offer a kiss (on the cheeck), to rile up the men. If Grok is truly appaled by the idea, she will switch it up to "You can choose who you get it from. I can vouch for Gideon, that man has quite some experience, I can tell you!"
Constitution: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Diplomacy (if necessary?) > 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Skaldi the Tallest |

As soon as he can track her down, Skaldi calls Cut-Throat aside. Quartermaster! I wanted to speak with you a moment. If you can. He looks out of breath, as if he's been searching for her. He looks concerned or worried. I just spoke to Sandara and she told me you might be the one holding onto my dagger. I wanted to talk to you about it before something happened. He gives her time to send him away, but not much. He continues, sounding like he's concerned for her safety. It's a bit of a contract, that dagger. That dagger is tied to the First World, and my blood. I'm not sure how they'd react if it were kept away from me for too long. Skaldi is trying to retrieve the nymph handled dagger, but he wants to disarm Grok's suspicions about him first. Can I roll a Diplomacy to make friends and then another for a "seek aid from another?" I'll roll both and wait to see if I get another action for the night or if that counts for both my extras.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
For some reason I'd thought that Satinder seeing Grok was her third nighttime action, not second. Oh well, we'll meet up there, I guess.

Satinder Morne |

We are all waiting for the DM. Maybe we can PM him?

Satinder Morne |

I think we should wait until a week has passed, no? Real life can sometimes get in the way, or a sucky internetprovider :)

Satinder Morne |

Same here. One gm warned us he would be away for a week, the other one had 2 days without connection. This one is the strangest, and it was running so nicely. :(

Satinder Morne |

... time flash...
"Wow, I'm beat guys.. I should have stopped singing a little earlier, and that gambling. Also sorry Gideon, about making you kiss that half-orc. Consider it a partial repayment for that shiny axe you're carrying."
She looks around, yawning and stretching in a catlike fashion.
"What have you guys been up to?
Not getting into trouble?"

Satinder Morne |

"I'm sure you are reffering to my singing, or else I'm afraid I'll have to dissapoint you. Any other night you'd remember, I'd remember..""
She winks back at Maeleg.

Skaldi the Tallest |

Skaldi smiles at the banter of his new companions, glad they're in good spirits while facing hard times. It certainly shows how they'll behave when they take control of their situation and times are good themselves.
I'm sure none of us have a doubt of that, Satinder.
He looks over to Lux, Not morning, just a time to get to know one another. Stay in your rack. We can talk here. He looks about the room at the other sleeping pirates. Everyone keep your voices down though. We don't need anyone liking us less.

Lieutenant Ambrose Jeggare |

A tired mumble come from one of the racks. "Too late..." A tired Ambrose rolls over to face the others. "This is a foul hour to be returning to bed at."

Satinder Morne |

"Guys, grow a pair and tell me what's going on. What did you do today? What did you find out? We need to huddle up and make sure all the biscuits are in the center! Speaking of which.."
Satinder will put some cookies in the middle of the 'table'.
I wonder what happened to our DM...

Terz "Lux" |

Lux reaches for a cookie, "Ooo cookies!" Lux eats the cookie, "I climbed around and tied knots . . . lots of them. I learned Skaldi is willing to talk endlessly with the gnomish peacock." Lux smiles, "What did you learn?"

Skaldi the Tallest |

I'm willing to talk endlessly with anyone that might save my hide later and is worth the salt I sweat while doing so...
Speaking of which... Mael, perhaps you should approach any more lovely Mwangi women any time soon. Perhaps stick with the folk that already like us a bit?
Skaldi takes a cookie and thinks about what else the group needs to discuss.
We can't really cover all the events of the day, as we aren't sure what happened. More on the missing GM in the discussion thread.

DM Besmara |

Sailin' Again =D! In order not to keep everyone waiting I'm gonna have Skaldi and Satinder meeting with Grok in spoilers So answer in spoilers too. Skaldi if you want to use these diplomacy rolls feel free.
Main Deck A3:Though you already familiar if this area you did not have time to explore if with attention before:
The ship’s main deck runs between the foredeck and poop deck. The mainmast rises from the center of the deck, extending 60 feet into the air and topped by a crow’s nest. Several strands of thick rope are secured to the foot of the mainmast for use as a whipping post, above it hangs the ship's clock a macabre brass-and copper object depicting worms writhing through whale corpses, where the two hands of the clock meet there is a lackluster red stone.
Two 10-foot-square hatches sit in the deck fore and aft of the mainmast. These hatches are thick wooden grilles and open onto the middle hold (area A6) 15 feet below. At the fore of the ship, two doors lead into the officers’ quarters (area A4), while two doors aft lead to the captain’s quarters (area A5).
There are also two other things of interest in the deck: a large wooden box bound in irons sitting jus under the bridge, and a small jolly boat that sits next to the port rail.
End of Day 1 - A Keelhauling for Jakes Magpie.
Dawn of Day 2
Your attention is rudely stolen by the clocks bell announcing dawn and the start of work day. Those of you familiar with life in the sea know this mean being ready in the main deck to receive your duties for the day.
By the way Jeggare you are already in the deck. And if you want to examine anything better before the bell call do so in a spoiler.

Satinder Morne |

"Urgh, I hate mornings!" are all the words you'll hear from Satinder until she has receiver her orders on deck.
She sounds like she's had a few, but not too many.
"Here is the beautiful lady! And my favourite new bossman! Whatcha doing? Coz I heard from the lads over there that you two can drink some heavy loads, and there is a bet going on about *who* can drink the most... Care to win some silvers, and a kiss from me?"
She then winks at Grok, and says:"Or from that Stronghand fellow? He owes me one..."

Skaldi the Tallest |

Day 2
Hush, not yet. Tomorrow. When they know me better. You're a shock.
Skaldi scrambles out of his rack and stowes it away. While heading up on deck he ensures that he has his gear.
Edit: Co-posted with Satinder. Editing.

DM Besmara |

Eh Skaldi are you going with Satinder or no? Well in case you are check the Satinder tab if not then check the Skaldi tab.
Gonna wait till tomorrow then I'm moving on.

Skaldi the Tallest |

Enough of that... I like her already. Wiser than I am at least.
After giving him a quick shake and saying Gideon, time to get above decks. You do not want to be later than we already are. Skaldi makes his way for the hatch. Sailors aleays learn to rise quickly enough.

Satinder Morne |

Satinder fights the urge to shout "Prove it!" and swallows her pride.
"Apologies, mistress Grok. I am new to the ship, and trying to find my way. If there is anything I can do for you, or for Master Kroop, please let me know. I will leave you then, til morning."
Satinder will leave her drinks on scene, as a peace offering, appearing to be really remorseful!

DM Besmara |

I’m moving on even because Jeggare isn’t on the next scene. And Gideon has not posted in some time. Someone can PM these two please I kinda without time these years.
As you all head toward the deck, four pirates, Aretta Bansion, Fipps Chumlett, Jaundiced Jape, and Slippery Sy Lonegan, block your path Aretta pushes you Maeleg, and laughing asks: ”In a hurry?" "Aye why not sleep some more eh?" Says Fipps rising his fist.
Lux: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Mael: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Skaldi: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Satinder: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Aretta and Lonegan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Jape and Fipps: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
ROUND 1
Initiative:
Mael
---------------
Jape and Fipps
---------------
Satinder
---------------
Aretta and Lonegan
---------------
Lux
Skaldi
I'm gonna have the pirates move in groups of two to keep things simpler, plus I separated the initiative counts in groups ----- Anyone in the same group can move first if you check and the others haven't posted before Example: Skaldi logs in and notice Lux hasn't posted yet well he can post without waiting for Lux.
