Hate to see you go Horny! But we all understand, I'm sure. Real life trmps the imaginary one!
Au revoir, mon amie!

Lieutenant Ambrose Jeggare |

Thanks for the support, everybody. GM, you're obviously free to do with the character as you'd like. If you wish, I could look into returning when the pressure has let up, though it's completely understandable if you'd prefer not.
Sail on, ye bloody pirates!

DM Besmara |

I keep your character working dutifully in the ship XD, if after pressure lets up you feel like returning post here we rise your character level and everything and bring you back to the forefront.
So I've been thinking on the combat problem for Pbp or the Initiative problem and came with this:
I will separate enemies and PCs in two groups, then I will roll initiative to see who goes first, and the other turns will be alternate, like in these two examples:
Highest PC Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Highest Enemy Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
So it goes:
PC G1 (2)
--------------
Enemy G1
--------------
PC G2 (2)
--------------
Enemy G2
Highest Enemy Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Highest PC Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
So it goes:
Enemy G1
--------------
PC G1
--------------
Enemy G2
--------------
PC G2
Then when it is the PCs turn any of you up to the number in () can post, as soon as you see it. After that I will post with the enemies and then the other of you can post. There is another plus side to this too: If you check the topic and I haven't posted and you're on the second group you can make a ready action (Just post it under something like this: Round 1 PC G2)
If the situation changes enough that your action becomes either impossible or obsolete then I will give a warning somehow like this:
WARNING: Your friend is going to die, want to change your ready action?
Plus after I have posted for the first enemy group (And only after, to keep things non confusing.) The guys in the first group can ready actions for their nex turn also, wih something along these lines:Round 2 PC G1. This is only for cases where you guys go first in case I move enemy groups first then you guys post after I move enemy group 2.
Some other things: I would like to ask you guys keep track of your own hit points. Plus that in all combat posts you guys put something like this: Round 1 PC G1 or Round 1 PC G2. This should keep things from going confusing in case people ready actions or delay actions.
I think this will work out better and will not break the game, like having first all PCs then later all enemeies or the contrary, where going first would be a giant advantage. And it should keep thing moving better. If any of you have questions or suggestion post them, And if not, then I'm gonna believe you guys all agree and I am gonna use this system from the next turn onwards.

DM Rickmeister |

Okidoki!
Round 1 PC Group 1: Satinder ready.
Also: I have no problem letting you roll for me, or anything. Just saying.
Also: Maybe you can put the map link under your name, like how I'm posting /\

Satinder Morne |

I helped with the map, if you don't mind :)

Satinder Morne |

I put Satinder in the leather armor, but she is not proficient with the shield either. Better for our Skaldi?

DM Besmara |

Guys I got a couple of questions for you:
-First: At what point are you guys okay with some more mature themes? (These being: Visceral descriptions for monsters, undeads and combat results. Villains being villains: Torturing npcs even possible one of your characters, to an extent this adventure already has it but even so. I think I know the point in which everyone is okay with talking about sex from the posts till now.)
-Second:I'm thinking of opening a replacement thread, are you guys okay with that?
If yes I have some more questions:
What monjebleu asked for recruitment? 20 Point buy? All classes and archetypes? And another question: If you are okay would you guys want to be part of the selection or simply let me choose?

Satinder Morne |

I'm 28, so mature is no problem for me. Go all out, I <3 it :)
(Except rape/sexual torture, please.. It's the very grey area.)
Replacement okay, and I would like to have a vote if that's okay?

Skaldi the Tallest |

I've been fine with mature themes in my RPGs for going on two decades now. As long as you, like others have asked, leave out the rape and sexual violence, I'm alright. Last week's episode of GoT is about all I can handle as far as that goes.
For a replacement, I think the call needs to be specific. We could really use something divine. We've got Arcane and Martial covered pretty well.
Discussion here or elsewhere before bringing someone else in would certainly be appreciated.
ETA: Here is a link to his original char gen guidelines.

Rafael The Silent |

Yeah I leave rape and sexual violence, out. I prefr taht way myself =D. But I had to ask about the mature themes because ya know Plugg and Scourge are just beggining. And they are not the only scum of the sea in this AP. Plus there is a question of inspiration, when I think pirate adventure, I think sailing ship combat, boarding action, treasure hunting, etc bu I also think about the supersticious side the ghost ships, curses and other things like that.
I'm actually glad you guys want to vote and discuss applications, it means I won't have to fight my indecision by myself XD. Yeah we need a class with divine spellcasting.

Skaldi the Tallest |

I'm also going to toss out, as I've encountered this twice now, that I'd rather you didn't pull your punches, at least with me. If you crit on an attack and think it's going to kill Skaldi, them's the breaks. Don't just let my PC off the hook. I'd hope you're willing to accept another character submission from me and we can find a way to make it believable.

The same for me (hum, seems I'm saying that a lot ... get out of my head Skaldi, please ;) )

Well you guys don't need to worry, while I hate games where the players become scared of everything, I also dislike games where the players go trough without danger. A PC death should be something huge but it shouldn't be impossible. If it was we couldn't have some great tense battles. (And growing up with nes snes and gb and gba platformers and rpgs I love tense battles even more tense boss battles)

Maeleg Valdemar |

I was just reading the wiki and I had an idea (where are you running ? come back here ! I have good ideas... from time to time.. :o )
If I understood the situation, 3 NPCs are helpful (Sandara Quinn, Rosie Cusswell, and Giffer Tibbs) and 2 are friendly (Conchobar Shortstone, Barefoot Samms Toppin). 4 are indifferent, 1 is unfriendly, the others are hostile.
Maybe we could ask our allies to help us to win over the others ?

Satinder Morne |

Let's check with the GM.
Sounds like it could work, but maybe it's not in the rules :)

Maeleg Valdemar |

Speaking of what is in the rules, another question for the GM : could I use my daytime action to fish ? Fresh meat could be used to show we're ready to take care of our allies (and to earn some bonus to influence the crew of course).
I try to find some ways to be useful, my diplomacy is .. not great XD

Crustypeanut |

-Second:I'm thinking of opening a replacement thread, are you guys okay with that?
Heeey guys, how's the campaign going? I noticed this little tidbit upon checking out how you guys were doing since I last checked on ye. If you guys got a spot open.. You haven't a clue how much I'd love to get in. While I was willing to DM for you guys before Raf joined and I backed down for him, I actually have been looking for a S&S game to join as a player.. would much rather be a player in this campaign than DM.
*Wink wink*

Satinder Morne |

Ah!! A wolf.. thingie! **runs away**

Shouldn't Grok also be friendly/helpful at this point? I think we've had a few rolls with her by now

Satinder Morne |

Yup! Satinder helpified her :)

Crustypeanut |

Divine huh? Well then, a Druid sounds like it could be well recieved. I've wanted to do a Druid (and a Bard) for this campaign for a while now. A druid would be a better fit for this group than a Bard, though. I'm thinking either a Storm Druid or a Shark Druid. Considering we have a gunslinger, rogue, and summoner w/ Eidolon though, I think a caster druid would be more of a benefit than a shark druid.
Also this picture is of a Hobgoblin (I think). Not a wolf thingy :P
Should I go with this for character creation?
As far as character creation, I was thinking I'd let you folks decide among yourselves as to what point buy we use, my original thoughts were to go with 20 since we're starting to take on a lot of players, but if you fellows want a more high-powered campaign then be my guest.
Then, of course, full hit points at first level.
Each character may take two traits as well (check out Archives of Nethys for a good list, as well as the SaS players guide for some campaign specific ones).
For starting gold you can either take average or, if you're feeling particularly lucky, roll for it.Finally, as per request of Namtarou, featured races from ARG are available for play.
Any other questions or requests may be posted here or pm'd to me.
*Edit* Or.. an Inquisitor. I've kinda wanted to do an Inquisitor lately too! Even if they're not a full caster..

Satinder Morne |

Bard! Bard! Bard! I always wanted someone to sing my songs for me ;)
Sexy sexy Satinder (to the tunes of Brave brave sir Robin) ^^

Crustypeanut |

Well I already have one made as a DM-PC and Narrator for the S&S campaign I'm starting soon, I could always make an alternate version of him for this one.
Though in that campaign we get Hero Points.. so a few things would need to be changed. He's also not a great combatant.. but he's an awesome skill-monkey and support character.

Maeleg Valdemar |

I confess I'd rather see a druid than a bard : having someone who can control winds, waves, etc seems like a really useful addition on a ship.
Auto-edited after several answers (I'm too slow to answer) : A bard is not a problem, don't worry. At least he'll be more useful than Maeleg to win over the crew :O

Satinder Morne |

I was joking about the bard, I would love to see some crazy hermit druid on board of our ship ;)

Crustypeanut |

Well then, let me finish up this spreadsheet of everyone's skills real fast so I can decide what to pick, then I'll get workin' on him. And by no means will he be some hermit! :P
I'll post up the spreadsheet in a few. I like making spreadsheets..
*Edit*: Skills Spreadsheet

Satinder Morne |

Did you... Did you put me down as a rogue? I beg to differ, good sir! I beg to differ indeed!

Satinder Morne |

I consider myself an independent soul :P

Satinder Morne |

He almost drowned in the bathtub when the wind was ignored. And he has a hearing problem, that's why he's always uyelling? :p
