Round One!
Two Xvarts quickly move away from the cluster of PCs to where Gregary was, noticing him isolated -- flank and attack him:
Slice & Dice: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 . . . . damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Flanking Slice & Dice: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (4) = 8
Gregary takes 2 hits, 14 HP total
Two Xvarts rush in to Aerodus Aluain, one having to attempt an acrobatic leap to avoid provoking attack from Cutie:
Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Cutie gores this Xvart for 8 HP

Damn, I missed
Two Xvarts rush in to attack a hated dwarf, Raggo of Gorum:
Murderhobo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 . . . . damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Flanking Murderhobo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 . . . . damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (5) = 8
Raggo takes 2 hits, 16HP total
One Xvart has Failed to resist Terra Minora's Murderous Command.
It takes a few steps away from the fight and swings wildly into empty air with murderous intent:

Round 1
.
.
.
The Xvarts rush forward, attacking Gregary, Aerodus & Gorum.
Cayosin is Blurred in flames and moves to attack one of the Xvarts, hitting one across its wiry shoulder blades.
Aliesah Leafborn Draws her bow and casts Aspect of the Tiger.
Raggo of Gorum, Flanked, is TBD....
Wulfrun, asleep and 20 feet from the majority of the fight, may attempt a New Save to fight of the poison.
Gregary, Flanked, knows that Xvarts are not actually Goblinoids but they are very similar in stature, culture and morality to Goblins, Mites & Kobolds. He knows that they are notorious slavers and are usually fighters or rogues -- though sometimes, exceptional Xvarts are Shamans, Witches, Adepts or even Sorcerers. He thinks he remembers that sometimes they work with Wererats. Action TBD....
Aerodus Aluain, flanked and unafraid, lashes out with his angelic blade, killing the Xvart that Cutie gored a moment ago.
Terra Minora, TBD....
Cutie, gets an AoO on a Xvart as it tries to tumble past her on its way into position flanking Aerodus. And then can move to attack.

DM Ray |

Logistics:
Gregary is flanked by two Xvarts 15 feet away from the group.
Wulfrun is prone 20 feet in a different direction away from the group.
Two Xvarts flank Raggo on one end of the cluster of PCs around camp.
One Xvart is adjacent to Aerodus on the other end of the cluster of PCs around camp; his companion dead on the ground after having been hit by Wulfrun in the surprise round, Cutie after an AoO, and Aerodus at the end of round one.
The seventh Xvart is 30 feet from the cluster, 10 feet from Wulfrun.
You can move to attack any Xvarts you wish.
If Aerodus or Raggo or Gregary move away (more than 5 feet) they will provoke.

Aerodus swung his blade I'm a tight arc, before slashing it down hard at one of the XvarT.
Power Attack1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 222d6 + 12 ⇒ (2, 6) + 12 = 20
Aerodus buries his blade deep in the chest of one of the little men.
Valour is like 10ft away from Aerodus and the fight. Can he attack a little blue devi?

Raggo |

Raggo looks down at the creatures attacking him and laughs, his laugh slowly turns into a snarl and then into a loud roar. His eyed flair with fire and he doubles in size, his skin takes on a metallic sheen and the length of his blade bursts into flame.
"I'M GONNA CLEAVE YOU INTO PIECES YOU LITTLE PEST!"

Gregary Belias Crowley VII |

Gregary dances out to the side of one of the creatures, drawing his falcata and leaping back into a fighting pose, holding his sword out defensively in front of him. He laughs, "Little slaver goblins! We're not dealing with devils at all, but greedy xvarts!"
"Good news," he says, while taking a step forward and thrusting at the xvart with his sword. "We probably don't have to deal with a bunch of imps."
"Bad news, they could be working with the demonic cult we learned about earlier. Somebody go and help Wulfrun!"

"This probably absolves the Ogre of his possible crimes too, what with having little Slavers around!" Aerodus kept his blade trained on the Xvarts.

Gregary Belias Crowley VII |

Gregary thinks for a moment while observing the fight. "There's an invisible enemy out there! Everybody be careful!" he shouts, pointing towards the Xvart that Terra enchanted. "He's attacking thin air - there must be something there!"

Terra Minora |

With Aliesah asleep on the job from the darts poison, Terra quickly moves to stand over the downed woman, drawing her whip as she goes. Once there she prepares to trip the first blue devil to come at the two of them.
CMB Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
When one of the creatures comes within 15 feet of us my readied action to trip kicks in.

Cutie |

please note cutie had a readied action to attack above, hit roll and damage already noted. 27 to hit, 8 to damage. She also gets an aoo, if it survives
aoo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Aliesah Leafborn |

Aliesah shoots with her bow, priority target is any striking her sleeping comrade, Wulfrun.
comp bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

DM Ray |

@Cutie,
In the "Logistics" post above, I mentioned Cutie's AoO and had applied her rolls from earlier as that AoO -- those 8 HP were part of the reason 1 xvart is dead:
"Dead on the ground after having been hit by Wulfrun in the surprise round, Cutie after an AoO, and Aerodus at the end of round one."
I will apply Cutie's roll above (a miss) as her first round attack on the other Xvart on Aerodus (unless you say for her to go help Raggo, Gregary, or attack the lone xvart swinging at thin air 30 feet away.

![]() |

Attack of Opportunities and Readied Actions are two separate Mechanics. The Xvart moved in to Cuties threatened area, provoking the Readied Action that Cutie had to attack a Creature that entered her threatened area. Once the attack happened, and the Xvart moved on, Cutie then got an Attack of Opportunity, as it left her square, meaning Cutie would have attacked it twice.

![]() |

Oh, well then Cutie shouldn't have made an AoO then as she would be flat-footed. Or did it move. End its turn, move again next turn? Sorry it just doesn't seem clear is all.

Round 1 (recap)
.
.
.
After seven Xvarts appeared from the shadows, flinging poisoned darts at the party, and after Wulfrun rushed forward to attack and after Terra Minora cast her spell on an advancing Xvart who attacked her....
The Xvarts rush forward, attacking Gregary, Aerodus & Gorum. Gregary and Raggo are both hit twice while Aerodus evades the monsters' attacks.
Cayosin is Blurred in flames and moves to attack one of the Xvarts, hitting one across its wiry shoulder blades.
Aliesah Leafborn Draws her bow and casts Aspect of the Tiger.
Raggo of Gorum, Flanked, brutally attacks a Xvart, almost killing it.
Wulfrun, asleep from a poisoned dart, and 20 feet from the majority of the fight, unconsciously wages an internal war, her blood fighting off the poison in her veins. After a long six seconds, she awakes, prone and on the ground, somewhat shaky but ready to get up and fight.
Valour, Aerodus's horse, prepares to enter the fray.
Gregary, knowing that Xvarts are not actually Goblinoids but they are very similar in stature, culture and morality to Goblins, Mites & Kobolds. He knows that they are notorious slavers and are usually fighters or rogues -- though sometimes, exceptional Xvarts are Shamans, Witches, Adepts or even Sorcerers. He thinks he remembers that sometimes they work with Wererats. The nobleman tactically moves out of his enemies' flanking maneuver and swings his falcate -- missing -- but also prepares a parry and riposte.
Aerodus Aluain, flanked and unafraid, lashes out with his angelic blade, killing the Xvart that Wulfrun charged a moment ago.
Terra Minora, rushes forward to Wulfrun's prone form and stands ready to defend her fallen comrade with her whip.

Cutie, moves in to help Aerodus.

Round 2
.
.
.
The Xvarts:
The one on Aerodus continues his assault bravely, although this creature sniffing him up looks quite terrifying:
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The two on the hated dwarf, Raggo of Gorum, hope to finish him quickly so they can keep a bearded trophy:
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (2) = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (5) = 11
The two on Gregary maneuver to resume flanking, one a 5' step & a pause to attack -- the other moving several extra steps to get around Gregary:
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (3) = 11
(This initiates Gregary's Parry and Riposte maneuver) ....
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1) = 7
The one who swung at mid air a moment ago turns back and rushes Terra Minora:
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
(This provokes an attack of opportunity as she wields a reach weapon.)
Finally, an 8th Xvart, after being attacked by one of his own and hearing Gregary's cry of an invisible Xvart, becomes visible as he finishes casting a spell:
Deep Slumber @ Terra Minora DC: 16 = 16
Cayosin (Blurred as if aflamed)
Aliesah Leafborn
Raggo of Gorum (Flanked)
Wulfrun, (awake but prone)
Valour
Gregary (Flanked, again)
Aerodus Aluain (has one Xvart on him)
Terra Minora
Cutie

Terra Minora |

I do not provoke actually, I don't have the feats to do that with a whip yet, three more levels or another enchantment and I will though. That being said, my readied trip kicks in when he moves within 15 feet of me, need to know if that succeeded before I can determine my next action.

Aliesah Leafborn |

Aliesah shoots her bow, as detailed above. 24 to hit, 8 damage.
If that had already been taken into account, she shoots another shot at the spell casting xvart.
comp bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Gregary Belias Crowley VII |

I realized I was doing my damage rolls wrong - I have Dex-to-damage instead of Strength, so my damage bonus is +9 (+4 level, +4 Dex, +1 magic) instead of +6 (+1 Str, +1 magic, +4 level).
Gregary easily sweeps aside the blow of the first Xvart, his blade running the length of its sword and delivering a powerful blow of his own in response.
He takes another step out of flanking position and attempts to deliver another blow to the Xvart whose blow he parried. While he swird, his voice builds up in volume, quickly speaking arcane formulae.
Falcata vs. Xvart, Spell Combat: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 2 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Casting Defensively (DC 17): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
His sword attack goes far wide and he curses at the end of his arcane formula. Just as he pulls back into his defensive stance, he vanishes from view.
Full-round-action to utilize spellcombat: Attacking the xvart and casting vanish defensively.

Raggo |

Round 2
Just want to make sure you noticed my round one attack as you never responded to it.
Raggo roars with fury as flames jump from his lips, dancing around his beard before sputtering out.
PA: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Damage: 3d6 + 20 ⇒ (6, 2, 6) + 20 = 34

DM Ray |

Aliesah Leafborn hits a Xvart (on Gregary unless you'd prefer another target).
Raggo of Gorum obliterates one of the Xvarts flanking him -- only one left there.
Gregary misses!
Mwahahahaha
Wulfrun rises and prepares to join Terra Minora against their lone Xvart.
Cutie misses the Xvart on Aerodus.
Valour whinnies.
Cayosin is very blurry.
Aerodus Aluain also whinnies, apparently. ;)

![]() |

HEY! I can speak horse if I like! :P I was waiting till everyone in initiative had posted before me to post, sorry.[/ooc]
Valour snorted and charged forward, kicking out at one of the creatures attacking Gregary, lashing out with one of his steel clad hooves.
Attack on Xvart1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Aerodus glances over and smiles as the warhorse wades in to the fight, before turning back to the Xvart before him. With the wound still fresh on his body, he twists his blade, before lashing out at the Xvart, aiming to take the little beasts head from his shoulders.
Power Attack-1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 202d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 2) + 12 = 15

Cayosin Ormr I Auga |

Blarprymja is tied up so he can not currently assist but if a Xvart comes close to him ...
Cayosin yells out, "I've got the "blue-devil" caster Aerodus." Aerodus knows from previous work with Cayosin, he is specializing in disrupting spell casters and getting better.
Cayosin moves to Xvart 8 to attack him making sure to avoid as much AoO as possible and attacks the Xvart caster, "TIME TO BEAT UP THE SPELL CASTER!"
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Bloodrage Disruption: the DC to cast spells defensively increases by 2 for enemies within your threatened area. This increase stacks with that granted by the Disruptive feat.

Round 3

The Xvarts:
The one on Aerodus makes a full Withdraw:
Er, I suddenly remembered I had a goblin in the oven; can't let it get burnt!
The one the hated dwarf, Raggo of Gorum, outraged at his mate's death at the powerful beard, desperately continues his assault:
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The two on Gregary continue to maneuver so as to flank, one a 5' step & a pause to attack -- the other moving several extra steps to get around Gregary:
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (3) = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (5) = 11
The one adjacent Terra Minora & Wulfrun backs (5' step) out of reach of Wulfrun and continues his assault on the spellcaster, trying to show his loyalty to the xvart caster after attacking her earlier:
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 . . . . Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Finally, the 8th Xvart backs up five feet from the brutal Cayosin and casts Blindness at the Viking, scared enough to use her best spell.

DM Ray |

Round 3...
The two Xvarts on Gregary both hit, bringing the young nobleman closer to his demise! Valour misses this Xvart in its brave attack and sees his master chase off after a fleeing Xvart.
The Xvart fighting bravely against Raggo misses laughably and wonders, perhaps a bit too late, if he should have run away a moment ago.
The Xvart fleeing Aerodus and Cutie is now 80 feet away with Aerodus adjacent to him, missing in his attempt to subdue the creature.
The one angry at Terra Minora has perhaps hit her in the jugular!....
Kill The Cleric!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 . . . . Doubled Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The Xvart caster, astonished that Cayosin has repelled her most powerful spell gets quite nervous -- but then Cayosin's attack seems quite harmless indeed, missing with every swing!

Cayosin Ormr I Auga |

Wow... Cayosin... Those are the s@*#tiest dice rolls I have seen in a long time. That is serious bad luck man. Oh... Shouldn't your second attack bonus damage be +5? Str 20, right?
Yes, sigh, there is no such thing as a decent automated character creator (Hero Lab and TOS). I need to comb through my stats again. And it is actually 24 when raging.

![]() |

Do all the Xvart have different AC? 15 was hitting before, right? All 3 of those attacks were 15 or above.
Yeah, automated generators are just not my thing, the margin for error seems to be way too high for them!
EDIT: Sorry. Your the GM. If they don't hit they don't hiT. I retract my question

DM Ray |

When did a Xvart have a 15 AC? (The DM asks nervously, worried he blundered.) Their AC is 21, except the caster who has a slightly different build plus Barkskin which she cast earlier.
.
.
.
EDIT:
Ah, I found an error -- Raggo misses in Rd 2 and as such does not obliterate the Xvart he hit in rd 1...
However, the one he did hit in rd 1 has very few HP left and Withraws fully in Rd 3! So the Rd 3 line mentioning only 1 Xvat on Raggo, and his attack, is still accurate.
