That mannequin was easy to miss, so I am hoping if we get a lot of eyes on these that someone will notice something else.

Can you get me a list of the people who work here? I'd like to be able to rule them out, if possible.

When the footage comes through, she will also forward a copy of that on to Valda.

Short version is there's a small area behind the cabinets. It's possible to get there via the doors in the back of the cabinets, or another door on the opposite side you guys haven't spotted yet. Think of it as a box of diplay cases that form a tiny courtyard they can all be accessed from, and a small door on the opposite side giving access to that space. I really should make a more detailed map of the room at some point...

"This is strange. All of it."

Nurai, Ross:
Nurai and Ross round the corner of the display cabinets to find a small door, about half the size of a normal one, slowly swinging open. Nothing obvious passed out of it, but the door doesn't seem to be moving on its own.

Jennifer, Salim, Joseph and Solomon:
You can all hear a small creak as a door opens on the other side of the cases, and footsteps.

Midian:
Midian spots on the cameras that things seem to be going odd, as Nurai and Ross start to move around one side and the others focus on the mannequin.

At the same time, something tries the door to the room.

Time to play choose your own adventure! If you focus on the cameras, and the oddness there in, roll me a DC 15 Intelligence check and open the spoiler below.

Spoiler:
You spot a shadow moving from a small door near Nurai and Ross, but weirder still, the cameras seem to be glitching. Every now and then the shot changes for a split second. You realize that you can't see both groups together, even on views that would allow it - but you can see the other when the camera changes.

[ooc]Or, if you'd like to check what's behind door number one then give me a DC 20 Perception check, and open below.

Spoiler:
A quick scan of the corridor outside on the cameras reveals nothing but the handle shaking, but Midian swears she can hear breathing from the other side.

Jennifer, Jacob, Salim, Solomon:
Rounding the corner revealed the door slowly swinging open before suddenly stopping. There was a distinct lack of people to punch, although the place felt...occupied.

Nurai and Ross:
Nurai could see...something, not quite there. A movement in the dust in the air more than anything else. It seemed to be hesitant, caught between Nurai and Ross and something else.

Nurai was curious at the hesitancy she felt. Very different to the last beings she'd dealt with in the Twilight.

Solomon follows behind Jennifer and Joseph, still probing with his mind. "I'm not sure what it is. Or is there another?" The whole situation is a bit confusing. Over all, Solomon much prefers things he can see with his eyes open.

Taking a moment to focus intensely, Solomon channels his psychic energy in a sort of deep echo, looking for things that may be unseen even to his third eye.

"Who are you?"

Divine Density of nearby objects and creatures. If I find one invisibly, I'd like to try to talk to it telepathically.

GM of all he Surveys - Still sick, but in a different way

Midian:
There was a pause. Lost. Help. Find. It seemed to be struggling to covey more, but the door handle began to rattle again.

Jennifer, Joseph, Solomon and Salim:
Salim's potion doesn't work quite as intended. That is to say, he can't see the thing that he should be able to see - there's nothing hidden beneath invisibility. But it does allow him to notice something there. Three, in fact. Two seem to be hanging back, while the third is by the door.

Solomon's spell tells him much the same thing. There's something there, but if anything it has the opposite of density. Which as a concept is a little head ache inducing.

The mental image his question received was...confusion, for the most part.

Nurai and Ross:
The creature doesn't seem hostile, but rather confused as to what's going on. After a moment, both Nurai and Ross get a mental message - Who are you?

What do these things look like?

That was an interesting question. Giving names to someone unknown had it's risks and in this case, Nurai was unsure it would really answer the question.

Nurai:

Solomon:

Nurai considered the images she had been sent.

"Seems we have a dimension jumper...one that was very happy until recently. she said to Ross. Most of the creatures that naturally did this, to Nurai's less than stellar knowledge on this, wouldn't be marking so many tears like this in one place. Unsure if the creature was still reading her mind, she tried to picture different dimensions - other places on Earth, in the Shadow Lands, in the Twilight, in the Synod as unlikely as it was with the protection they had there but natural beasts had ways around such things - to see if anything caught the creature's attention enough to talk or come out.

Sorry for the delay, guys. Technical troubles are a pain in the router.

Midian:
There was a pause, and a series of...clicks? Stutters? Something finding the words? That was what it said, at the very least. [b]"Find. The door shuddered as it said that, shaking the metal frame in a way that made the curator wince a little.

Ross and Nurai:
The ancient being in Ross' head stirred as it was called upon. It understood, in a way Ross couldn't, how bemusing the situation is. The short version was that, whether a trap or some freak occurance, reality has sheared off. Dimensions haven't split away entirely - they're still connected together - but as time progresses the distance will grow, and the connectivity will grow weaker. Thankfully, it seems to only be in this place, not the world as a whole.

For now.

But which branch was reality outside of this place, and how long before the people in the other branch were trapped? Well...that was a question.

The creature seemed to recognize most of the places Nurai showed it, but none seemed to have any special attachment to the thing.

Both Nurai and Ross heard, Yes, they must. Where are they coming from? projected from somewhere. Ross understands enough to suspect it's one of your fellows in another splinter.

Salim, Jennifer, Joseph and Solomon:
Joseph and Jennifer hadn't heard from Nurai or Ross since they'd split up earlier. Jennifer was able to make out what Solomon was gesturing too - and absence of something - but had no idea what to make of it.

On the plus side, while it lacked reality, Jennifer did suspect it had some kind of form. It was affecting the world, albeit it only in the sense that dust motes moved around it.

Median pulls out her sniper rifle case and assembles the rifle with practiced efficiency, hoping that they weren't going to have a run-in with something that was going to try to destroy them because it was lost.

Now armed, she moves between the door and the curator.

Not sure why her communication is failing, she tries again. Mentally *and* with her voice, she says

What are you looking for? Are you going to destroy this place and us to find whatever it is, or are you going to calm down and let us help you?

If you stop trying to knock down the door, I will happily let you in, knowing that you have some wisdom and self-control. Otherwise, your break in will be met with deadly force.

Midian:
The door continues to rattle, to a point of vibration. Help! is all that comes back as the curator eyes your own weapon with no apparent surprise, and pulls something like a switch made of willow from his own jacket.

Jennifer:
Whatever is there seems less inclined to be touched. Motes of dust and...something the opposite of light? If darkness could shine? Whatever the hell it was danced around the figure as it tried to avoid being touched.

In whatever corner of her soul the being was bound within Syar'ammag stirred, a pulse of interest at the strange thing before them.

I'm a bit at a loss for what to do here. These creatures don't seem interactable, or menacing, and barely cognizant(?), so my OOC instinct is to just ignore them...but I have no idea why I would IC decide to ignore such an obvious anomaly in this situation.

GM of all he Surveys - Still sick, but in a different way

Ignoring them is a completely valid option. There is...quite a few other things happening in different places. That said, there are a few things that can be done with these things, too. If you like I can start making spooky things happen that should attract people's notice.

Quote:

Jennifer felt the barriers around her, and within her, break. As she touched the thing she could see Nurai and Ross on the other side of it, distant yet easy to touch.

More, though, the thing within her soul no longer had any boundaries holding it in place...Jennifer grabbed Syar'ammag through pure instinct, ignoring the pain it caused. She could hold the thing where it was.

Or she could let it go.

Choices, choices. Jennifer can now chose to fail that saving throw, releasing Syar'ammag into the world. I will say this choice will (probably) be temporary, but would remove the benefits of the Template for now.

Even in her mind (or wherever she was), Jennifer had two hands. One was holding on to the demon inside her, and the other was still reaching for the whatever that was (but not really) in the museum. The demon had been a part of her for so long, that the idea of being without it was almost scary. But this is what she wanted, wasn't it? To finally be free of its trespass of her mind and body?

"IS thIs WHaT yOu wANt, hUMaN? WE boTh KnoW It'S nOT," Syar'ammag asked, as if it knew her thoughts.

Yes. Yes, it's what she wanted. To be free, and to stop doing horrible things. To have her will be her own again.

No! She did not want to let go! She did not want to return to the meek, powerless woman she used to be! She could not--

But it was too late. In a brief moment of weakness, of doubt, she let go. And the demon had left her. Once again she was nothing.

"Get back here," Jennifer grunts in frustration as the not-exactly-invisible thing tries to evade her grasp. She reaches out to grab a limb.

Nearly immediately after reaching out for the thing, Jennifer screams in rage. In frustration. In loss. She drops to her hands and knees.

GM of all he Surveys - Still sick, but in a different way

Midian:
The creature made a sensation in the air that couldn't be described as a noise but couldn't exactly be processed as anything else. It began tugging on Midian, but it was like being pulled by a soft gust of air - unless Midian chose to follow nothing was moving her.

Joseph:
"My!" the painting exclaims as Joseph headed to the next room.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28

Joseph spots a figure behind the door moments before the attacker leaps out. Tall, but gangly, there black clothing, cloth mask and pack do not hint at much good, but the tasers snapping in there hands suggest even less in the way of good intentions.

Init - Joseph: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Despite the ambush, Jospeh got the jump on his electrifying attacker.

Salim:
There is no verbal response to the call, but the lights in the gallery seem a little brighter even though Salim is sure nothing has changed. There's a strong feeling of not being alone.

Military Exhibit - Jennifer, Solomon:
By the creature of dust manifest something. Tall, powerful. Demonic. Batwings folded tightly behind "Weak," it mutters, although whether the creature, Jennifer or itself is unclear.

Military Exhibit - Nurai, Ross:
Without warning a woman's scream erupts somewhere nearby and a tall, dangerous looking being with grey skin and batwings appears from nowhere, near the invisible being. "Weak," it mutters.

Ross mutters softly, "Oh no..."

With very little warning, his eyes roll back into his head and his mouth contorts into a painfully wide grin as his head jerks towards Nurai.

His natural voice still speaks, but is almost drowned out by a raspy, atonal, utterly inhuman one, "Nurai. It is good to finally make your acquaintance in the flesh! Zaoth, at your service."

His gaze jerks back to the bat creature, "Care to help me defeat this beast?"

As the tall grey being showed up, Nurai glanced over with little concern. She was used to dangerous grey people. She nodded in acknowledgement of Zaoth.

Her shadows weren't nearly as relaxed. They hummed eagerly as they rose up their summoner, shifting from flat into a humanoid shape with large clawed hands and feet.

"We will, if it comes to that. Nurai spoke, the shadows hummed with tones of displeasure and concern. Nurai continued, her attention on the newly appeared creature. They did not not seem the type to want her preferred friendly routine, which was a shame, but needs must a change in tactics, "You look strong enough to us. Interdimensional havoc is wrecking this place and we will not allow this to continue. Care to test yourself with us in getting it dealt with?

Midian:
The creature tugs you along, barely. It's touch is barely there, but visible on your clothing. It pulls you towards the door the leads back to the museum and stops, suddenly.

Midian is sure she can hear someone muttering around the corner.

Joseph:
The attacker dodges both attacks, albeit not by much the first time, Joseph's fist flying close by there nose.

Still, the stunguns in his hands crackled and flash forward.

Ross:
The creature is a Nabasu, a Demonic being. It is strongly resistant to most things, and outright immune to electrical and paralytic attacks. Its wings are not just for show, either, and it is tremendously fast in the air.

Nurai and Ross Zaoth:
The grey creature turned to face Nurai and responded, "One wishes to defeat me, another for me to aid them? Perhaps you two should get on the same page before challenging me. Or asking me to help. Both sound equally entertaining. Peraps you could toss a coin?"

The just visible creature move away from the demon, and it turns its head back. "Oh no, little one. I have uses for such as you."

Solomon and Jennifer:
The grey figure turns and looks away from Solomon and Jennifer, and speaks in a voice that claws at Jennifer's memories. "One wishes to defeat me, another for me to aid them? Perhaps you two should get on the same page before challenging me. Or asking me to help. Both sound equally entertaining. Peraps you could toss a coin?"

Salim isn't sure what to make of the cup's response, but it seems like a good sign.

The shadows hum had tones of confusion, amusement, and annoyance.

Watching the grey creature go for something incorporeal, Nurai spoke, "Will your plans with them entertain you, too?"
