So, this club has two levels, and the only people upstairs are the PCs, Valda, her staff, and the strange character(s) just introduced since the scream happened. The bathroom where the dead fey is is also upstairs, and not the general bathroom that people downstairs can access. Are those two sentences correct?

JonGarrett |

Mostly, yes. There are other party guests and such. About 20 people other than yourselves. I'm sorry I haven't been clearer with the scene setting. My mind isn't as clear as it could be.
The bathroom is off from the bar up stairs, through a door. It has three doors in turn - disabled, male and female bathrooms. Valda and those with her are in that corridor or the disabled toilet.
Since there is a door, the main party can't see what's happening, at least for now.

JonGarrett |

No worries. I'm going to be hit and miss for a few days, it looks like (I think I've mentioned it, but to clarify - I blew out my back badly enough that I ended up in hospital getting morphined, and I only just managed to spend four hours in bed and sleeping for the first time in the last few days) so feel free to prod me when you need to.

Doctor Solomon |

Man that's rough. Heal up. And stop playing golf so hard.

OK, folks. One of the things I'll be doing while I recover is working on the website, and one of the things that will be doing up will be a character list.
So, if you guys want a picture for your character other than the Paizo avatar, pop it in here.
Also! If you would like to expand on the lore of the game - making other dimensions and planes, creating odd events, stuff like that - I would be happy to work with you guys on it.

Aurora Goodberry |

For pictures, I'm good with any of her at schools or her avatar.
Also, reminder that Oladon's expansion allows to use custom portraits, so if you have a favorite image you'd like to be used as an avatar, go ahead.
And I'm all for adding to the lore!

Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |

Nurai's appearance is mostly based on the lovely Khoudia Diop.. I've added this link to the profile.
The dimensions may explode if I mess with them too much more than an AU character that is the kid of an AU character who is the child of...XD but I'd still love to help with lore and weird events, I enjoy doing that.

Doctor Solomon |

I think you also said the victim was a "she", which I also thought at first, but I am under the impression currently that it was a "he", although perhaps in illusory form only. I'm not sure how faerie dragons identify with such notions.

Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |

Nurai's been neutrally referring them, I figure Faerie Dragons can be whatever they want XD

Doctor Solomon |

@Miyu, can you help me understand your "ofuda" and "sutra" stuff? I'm not familiar with those concepts (or mechanics, actually).
@Nurai, why doesn't your character have the umbral unmasking drawback? I would think that would be a great fit.

Miyu, the Exorcist |

Ofuda are paper talismans used in her magic. Basically, as part of my adaption of sutra magic, they're material components that I try to use in flavorful ways. XD
Sutras are essentially sphere talents that I adapted (with permission) from another system. They're a little more specific than sphere talents usually are, but that comes with its own limitations as well. o wo/ So, basically, they're her spells.

Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |

Interesting drawback! I will have to put that away for another character [I have a particular fondness for shadow based characters].
Nurai is a Shadow Caller Summoner, the shadow is her eidolon and when it is summoned Nurai does not have a distinct normal shadow regardless of lighting [this replaces the more obvious magical symbol most eidolons have]. Not sure it can be counted as a drawback since her eidolon is a separate being [though, due to also being a synthesis summoner, this shadow eidolon does not detach] rather than her own cast shadow that is acting like a sulky pup at the moment, claws and all, and when it is not summoned, Nurai has a... more typical shadow. Jon may have different thoughts on it.
Our Overlord Jon could rule the same way to notice it plainly, though I think Nurai would not like any suggestion that her or her shadow are "telltale signs of wickness" [quite amusing actually since Nurai's alignment cannot be changed from good for more than one round - the power of love and all that XD ].

Doctor Solomon |

Yes, well, it doesn't match exactly, but I thought it made sense with the basic idea that your shadow is not what/where it's supposed to be. I agree, the "wickedness" line could stand to be dropped.
Which reminds me, Jon, are all undead and related necromancy magic automatically considered evil in this game?

Aurora Goodberry |

So as soon as Nurai starts singing Friends on the Other Side, we can start worrying.

JonGarrett |

No, undead and necromancy aren't automatically evil, but they will have the lure of such powers taking over. If you hunger for blood and flesh, or get a buzz from yanking the souls of the dead from the afterlife to fill a corpse, you're probably heading for the evil side.

Doctor Solomon |

I hope it's alright for me to wait outside. I just didn't think I'd blend in with the party people.

Doctor Solomon |

Yeah, I left my element back at the bar.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Aurora Goodberry |

Yeah, possibly they did, but I wasn't sure how to play it (socially), and you took charge easily enough :)

Aurora Goodberry |

My rationale for calling Miyu upstairs was that I needed someone who could get a clearer picture, I didn't want to leave her alone and Solomon had sneaked out of sight.

Doctor Solomon |

I wasn't sneaking away upstairs, I just didn't want to be seen downstairs if we went down there. Since, you know, I wasn't exactly invited in or introduced.
I also didn't mean to suggest you had to explain things, but rather that I just didn't know what was going on. At least now we've cleared up that misunderstanding.

JonGarrett |

*Looks over posts* Well...crud.
The short answer was she was used an ability to turn into a funky mist of blood to avoid the grapple, which was why Miyu's ability hit, but that part of the post got removed during editing (no, no, don't laugh - I do try and edit the stuff I write) and never got put back. It's sitting on the open notepad I was using to type stuff up in.
I'm very sorry about that. I'll try and address that when I post next.

Doctor Solomon |

I already rolled my own initiative above, though people took turns since then. It seems people are going to get more turns before I get an action, which strikes me as inappropriate.
Also, I'm curious if Miyu was able to block the summons or not.

Thoma's inititive is closer +10 now due to his stance and active element. Need to figure out a good way to indicate that in the stat bar.
Do I need to put Thomas on the map I can't find him on it. He'd follow Jennifer.
Also, I can set up a roll20 for you if you want. Pretty simple to draw on and players can move their own characters.

JonGarrett |

Thomas - I've tried roll20. I can't seem to get the hang of it beyond the basics, but I'll take another look if I get a chance.
In the mean time, while I know it's kinda basic, you should be able to move your character on this.
I did put Thomas on, but left my cursor over it so it didn't appear. I've altered that now.
One trick that I've found useful is to have a Spoiler Tag in your status bar for Active Buffs.
Solomon - No, it hasn't been blocked. It's a little...different to a normal summon. I'll explain more once the combat is over, if folks like, because it'll give away a couple of spoilers otherwise, but this is an unusual set of circumstances. Miyu's ability has not been wasted, however - it'll have an impact.
As for the turns, if you wish to take a 'surprise' round action I'll allow it, but combat didn't really begin until now.
You can also use your Initiative if you prefer, although since 5 of the party members are acting before the 'monsters' this time I'm not sure it'll change much. Since this was the first time we've done combat I wrote you all up and saved you in one of my note pads, then copy and pasted it over - but then I got a cool idea and went wrote that before I deleted Solomon.

Doctor Solomon |

Okay, no problem. Thanks.

Uhm, sorry, I may have precipitated the situation >_> but we couldn't expect much friendliness from someone named Carmilla.
