No Kobolds on the statues.

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton walks up to the door and checks it for traps. If he finds none he opens the door.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

As far as Milton can tell no traps.....

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin remains alert, his heart pounding in his chest, as Milton opens the door. He prepares himself, almost expecting something to fall upon them - if not a trap, then some ambush of kobolds.

The door open to a room with a table with chairs around it, and a single statue in the corner.

aren't things getting too quiet....

Botting Darrion

Darrion noticing the now lack of traps and Kobolds for the past couple of rooms and hallway.
"What's with the absence of the kobolds?"

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

"We know that there's something...bad down here," Corin struggles with the right word, clearly nervous. "Maybe the kobolds keep clear of it. Or maybe it killed them."

The sheriff casts his eyes towards the statue in the corner.

"Anyone want to check that one?" he asks cautiously, quietly.

If no one else dares, he will investigate it himself...just to be safe.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

"Could we be going the wrong way, somehow?"

rand: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Corindus looking over the statue trips over a raised part floor tile and grabs part of the statue causing something to "Click".
And a Door on the western wall opens.

Map updated

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin removes his hands from the statue and looks quite guilty and embarrassed.

"Um...Mary doesn't find out about this, okay?" he asks sheepishly.

Picking his halberd up again, he circles around the old table and peers down the now-open hidden passage.

Botting Darrion

"Well Even if she does, I'll vouch I saw you stumbled on something that tripped you up and grabbed anything to keep balanced."

Looking into discovered room you see a pile of treasure in the middle of the floor

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton's mouth drops open at Corindus' freshness with the statue. "Somehow I doubt the kobolds knew about that but be on your guard for traps."

I don’t like the looks of this. That treasure seems suspicious to me. Like baiting us to a trap. I’m going to see if anything magical emanates from down there or around up here
Darion casts the familiar detect magic spell

Sorry about the absence I check regularly but sometimes I wonder if my phone doesn’t update the website when I go to it

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton nods to Darion, "That is a good idea. I'll look for any evil in there as well." With that Milton activates his detect evil ability and waits a few moments. If they detect no traps or evil Milton cautiously enters the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

I'm a bit of a luddite in that I don't have a smartphone or even want one, as I see the darn things as an electronic drug.
So I only have desktops and laptops for internet access.

GM:

items:
Corset of the vishkanya
Bracers of Armour +1
Ioun torch
Aegis of recovery

Darrion does sense some magic items in the pile.

And there are No traps

Treasure pile is here since the Kobolds won't be dropping anything good.

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

I don't have a smart phone either, they are even more of a leash and cost you a lot more a month. It's getting harder to find flip phones and my current one SUCKS so I'm currently tempted to get a smart phone just so I have something that works properly.

Milton looks at the pile and around the room, "It seems safe. If any of it is magical do you want to take a minutes or two to see if any of it is useful or should we save that for later?"

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

I presently have a slide phone rather than a smart phone. I primarily use my desktop or laptop for internet access. I also have a Nook that I use for reading that can technically access the internet, but it is hardly optimized for that role.

Corin grimaces as he mulls the situation.

"Let's take it," he declares. "They could help us find the children and protect them from whatever lurks down here. If nothing else, it's good to keep these out of the kobolds' hands."

I would be partial to either the Aegis of Recovery or the Ioun Torch.

You don't know what they are yet in game, and the pile also holds 300gp (third in gold the other third is in silver coins, and the last third is in copper coins)

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

After detecting magic in the treasure hoard Darion concentrates to identify the magical properties of the items that emanate magic

spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
not sure if you want multiple checks or not

Multiple checks, but also tie the check to a item.

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

Ok the roll in the previous post will be for the corset others below
spellcraft ioun torch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
spellcraft bracers: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
spellcraft aegis: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

I assume those rolls are sufficient to know the items properties. If so then Darion will let the others know what they do

Darrion identifies three of the items as;
Bracers of Armour +1
Ioun torch
Aegis of recovery

while unsure of the corset.

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

If a retry is possible then Darion will try again on the corset
Darion studies the corset a little more closely as he attempts to discover the magical properties it possesses again
spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

sorry, no retrying until later.

Limited to once a day

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin picks up the aegis medallion, amazed by the properties that Darion describes. He also picks up the glowing stone and holds it out to his fellows.

"Does anyone else feel like lighting the way? Or should I handle the responsibility?" he asks.

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton shakes his head, "It doesn't do me a lot of good as I can see int he dark. You lead the way."

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

I have the ability to create light and keep it away from me so as to not be made a target for anything that can see in the dark. Perhaps Corindus you should keep it but only pull it out when you have no other options. I wouldn’t want you to be more of a target than you already are by taking the lead. I will take those bracers if no one objects

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton says "Take them, but I think your mage armor spell is better than those for protection. I don't know how to properly use armor myself and rely on my wand for that protection."

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin tucks the magic glowing stone into his belt pouch, then dons the aegis medallion.

"Ah yes, the hardship of being a magic-less mortal," the sheriff jokes with his companions.

As the others sort out the remaining trinkets, Corin examines the room itself, looking to see whether there might be any other hidden passages.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

"Looks like this was a dead end, albeit a rewarding one."

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

Darion takes the bracers and equips them.

Very well let’s continue. If we run into a dead end we could perhaps come back here and search for a secret entrance. My magic may be able to aid in that.

Gonna pack up all those coins or pick them up later?

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin would say pick them up later. While he could justify taking the time to identify the magic items in case they could help save the children, he could not justify gathering the coins before finding the children.

Any actions in the room or are you all going to leave?

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton says "Let's close the door and continue our search for the children. While the money is nice it is not worth the time to collect it all when the children may die in that time."

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

I believe we searched the room so the plan is to continue on. I potentially want come back and cast detect secret doors if we run into a dead end

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Yes, I believe we'll backtrack to room E and take the northern door in that room.

You exit the room, close the doors and proceed north,

You enter a room with shelves and a bench on the eastern side loaded with mining tool and items, with a hole going down to a mining area below, the hole has a fence around it to hinder accidentally falling in.

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

Corindus I know you are quite skilled in tracking do you notice any recent foot traffic here?
Darion says while looking around himself
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Darrion:
Seems traffic mostly goes from mine below to the northern door and vis versa.

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Darion's prompting pulls Corindus' attention from the mine shaft. The sheriff crouches down to sift through potential tracks. He hopes to distinguish the kobold's feet from the children's and, more importantly, look for any indication whether the children fled - or were taken - to the north or down the mine shaft.

Survival w/ Track: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23

Male Human Wizard 4| AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 26/26 | F +3 R +4 W +6| Init +3| Perc +2

Milton goes to the north door and listens to see if he can hear anything.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Corindus:

Lots of kobold traps in and out of the mine to the northern door, no traps of children

Milton hears nothing on the other side

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corindus sighs heavily.

"No trace of the children. Plenty of kobold tracks, coming and going between the mine and the door," he says, tracing the route in the air with his index finger. "Do you suppose they carried the children off? Would they have taken them north or...deeper into this place?"

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

That is a good question Corindus and it is entirely possible, but I don’t think it is incredibly likely. My knowledge of kobolds leads me to believe that they are typically pretty small sized and not very strong. Likely there strength would be similar to a child’s. However I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility. Let’s continue to explore for more clues.

I take it going north?

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Corin responds with a silent nod. Heeding his close friend's advice, the sheriff leads the party north.

going through the northern doors, you enter a hall and do notice a hole in the northern wall just big enough for a kobold to squeeze through.

There are doors to the East and West.

Male Human | Wizard (Diviner: Foresight subschool)/ Level 3| HP: 13/21 | F:+3, R:+3, W:+3| AC: 12 | Diplomacy +2, Perception +6, Knowledge arcana: +9, Knowledge local: +9, Knowledge nature: +9, Knowledge planes: +10, Spellcraft: +10, Craft (alchemy): +9, Use Magic Device +7| Spells; Euphoric Cloud, Detect Thoughts, Summon Minor Monster, Color Spray, Grease, Detect Secret Doors -0- Detect Magic, Acid splash, Dancing lights

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Darion attempts to notice if he can depict any children footprints near the hole in the northern wall. He motions to the sheriff and then states
Corindus come check out over here

Male Human, AC 17 (T 13, FF 14), CMD 18, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1, Init +4, Perception +6, HP 15/27 Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

At Darion's request, the sheriff hunkers down beside the hole and looks for evidence of the kobolds' passing. Of course, he remains aware for traps or ambushes, lest some spear or javelin fly out from the hole while his face hangs close.

Perception, Aid Darion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Darrion,Corindus:

No children went through the hole in the wall, you see child prints going east to west.
