Ederin though the creatures are easy to hit, Ederin still manages a couple misses. That said, orange drops to his rapid fire. Kaylayne mightily drops blue and wings green as well!. Allarnon, I’m ruling you cannot 5’ step on that balcony, you’re just too large and mobility is tight up there. So you attack purple and pink dropping pink and staggering purple! Dimitrio charges up to yellow, but fails to score a hit. Lief succumbs to the fog and backs out of the room. He’s down retching for 1d4 ⇒ 3 additional rounds.

The Dretches gibber on, saddened that more of you aren’t suffering the effects of their stinkiness.

Tarkir blindly rushes to Allarnon's side provoking attacks from the demons.

Leaping from the narrow ledge Allarnon's form once again begins to change. The fur falls away from his body in small patches as he begins to shrink. His face scrunches into the form of a man while his back straightens out with the sound of snapping bones, realigning into his spine.

The hide barding falls to the ground with a dull thud as it rolls from the ledge.

Rolling as he hits the ground Allarnon dives behind Dimitrio with a cold iron tipped longspear drawn, his face still showing every bit of rage he once had as a bear.

Ederin draws his bow but quickly doubles over as the all too familiar feeling hits him like a brick. Holding his stomach with one hand he retreats from combat, knowing he's far too exposed and unable to defend himself in this state.

At least I get to save some of my arrows. He thinks to himself before the oncoming migraine and dizziness rob him of coherent thought.

Ederin suffers a migraine and must bow out of the fight. Kaylayne also flees the room nauseated. Allarnon switches positions, and forms, as he tries to save Tarkir. Dimitrio manages to keep his lunch and still inspire others. He taps yellow twice, but fails to drop it. Lief continues to be nauseated.

The dretches get the sense the tide is turning, and in their favor, as more of you become ill. Oh, if they only knew it was the calm before the storm and their days are numbered.

Ederin tries to get on top of his migraine. Kaylayne seeks fresh air outside. Allarnon steps up and, thanks to the haste, manages to drop green. Dimitrio stabs at yellow, and has an attack leftover as the combat ends. Lief continues to be nauseated.

The party, out of initiative, stumbles outside to the fresh air. It’s a few minutes before the chamber is cleared and you can enter once more to investigate.

The globes the dretch were playing with are quite interesting. There are six left, out of eighteen originally. The globes themselves are very fragile and about as large as a large softball. Five of them only show vague shifting images of the ancient elven city, but one of the globes still partially functions.

When someone touches it, the image of a librarian appears, ”I am Eloquan, chief lorekeeper of Celwynvian. What is your question?”

Dimitrio still breathed through his magicked handkerchief. Nothing like the smell of pine forest inside a room previously stinking of wet demon.

Hoping he can ask his own single question, the bard thinks for a second and adds, "Where are the dangerous parts of this city?"

"Lorekeeper eh? Leif maybe this guy knows everything this library contained yeh?" Ederin shrugs, "Don't imagine some image stuck in a globe could do much to save a library anyway."

"Celwynvian was founded in 43728 by two elven step-brothers, though their actual names are lost to us in history, we call them Toross Cairalei and Corym Beineiros. Some, particularly among the Haladavar Elves, maintain these names are in fact the correct ones, but that has been disputed by the great sage Ivsaar Eilbella..." and so it continues. Without end.

Eloquan tells every 'known' detail of the history of the city and the events surrounding those details, and references to texts, people, and even other globes, to support or refute each claim. Once begun, you don't immediately see a way of stopping it and it continues to drone in the background giving you names, dates, and more from the perspective of a very knowledgeable learned master some 10,000 years dead.

It's a window into a point in history. And it won't shut up.

Dimitrio zoned out after the first couple of minutes and let thing drone on. he used the time to look around and make sure that they picked up anything useful in the room.

Allarnon sees that some of the group is having a hard time breathing through the sweet smelling fumes. "Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth."

Looking peculiar at the orb Allarnon jumps back and points his spear at it as it begins to speak.

"What foul magic is this! Is it a ghost?" He pokes his spear through the image and his eyes go wide.

"New topic: Desna. Go..." If anything comes out, Kaylayne listens for any new information or beliefs that the elves used to hold about her preferred deity.

Lief sits down, and listens with focus to what the Keeper has to share with them. He tries to correlate anything of note regarding the political dynamics over the centuries, but really tries to pay attention as the history gets closer and closer to recent events.

"Do we have a safe way of carrying this? I can't imagine leaving this here. Surely someone in the elven community will find this worthy of preserving."

He tries to get comfortable, preferring to remain inside, so the noise of the storyteller can be muffled to the outside.

Ederin listens as the librarian drones on and nods his head at Kaylayne. "Yeah I'm with you. I ain't sittin' around and listenin' to that thing longer 'an I have to."

He moves to leave and take up watch. "As long as that thing is talkin' kid I wouldn't even consider takin' it with us." He calls back as he leaves.

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34

He keeps his eyes to the north, including the sky, not wanting to be taken unaware by the dragon.

The party loiters in the library for about forty-five minutes or so before the army catches up and relieves you. In that time, the city starts to come alive with the sounds of far flung combats. A heavy mist mixed with acrid smoke settles into the city as the sun rises, adding echoes and limiting sight. Muted cries and the occasional sound of a sword fight or an explosion of magic can be heard quite frequently.

The sphere continues to drone on, moving slowly through the years. Given Celwynvian was abandoned about 10,000 years ago, you expect this history lesson to end then. Hard to know for sure though of course.

When the army does arrive, they take over the building quickly. They move archers to the roof, and setup a small forward hospital among the stacks. You’re asked to return to the main battle camp a couple hundred yards out of town for further instructions.

Kaylayne nods and makes a mental note of this location in case she has the chance to return.

When others are gathered and ready, she hies to the main camp to await further instructions.

Dimitrio was relieved to see the elves finally come at last. "Did you guys learn anything from the spheres? Did you try to move them?"

"Seems like the drow haven't retreated at least. Don't figure they have this much combat every other time they push."

Ederin heads to the base camp as soon as everyone is ready. Assuming they make it there unscathed he sheepishly asks about arrows, admitting that he wasn't quite prepared for how many he'd been using so far.

Lief hefts the sphere, then tucks it into his backpack. "It keeps discussing various subjects, but seems largely organized to account for certain categories as best it can, before it changes the year." He readies to head to the main battle camp. "Not sure it's worth it to transport the non-speaking spheres. Perhaps Eviana can tell us."

As you move to the rear you pass a grisly sight. You find three dead bodies in the street, drow skirmishers from the look of them. Their gear has already been stripped.

You pass back to camp directly, following the same trails the army did just moments before. There are no further encounters until you see elven guards who greet you and welcome you past the sentry posts.

On returning to the elven camp, you find it quite active. Off to one side is a large tent where the elves are handling their wounded, but in the center of the camp, Eviana’s tent is a flurry of motion. Messengers stream to and from the tent, relaying reports and receiving orders. Do you report your morning’s activities?

Lief walks carefully enough as they approach the main tent, not wanting to take any last-moment chances to damage the talking sphere.

Entering the tent, he tries to find someone to receive their report, taking their turn, not jumping the line, no more superior than others in their own reports.

When their turn comes, he produces the talking sphere only after he addresses their drow, spider, and dretch casualties. He mentions the priest with more detail than the other drow.

Allarnon uses the wand to tend to Tarkir's wounds from the Demons. "It's alright buddy." He softly pats the bears soft fur, scraping the dirt and mud from Tarkir's fur around his eyes.

Back at the camp Allarnon holds his hand in a small fist. "Stay here." He says to Tarkir. The small bear slumps down onto the ground. Walkingover to the tent Allarnon peeks his head in.

"The army met up with us just in time. We ran into a bit of trouble with some of the Drow and a larger group of the demons. The drow seemed to have a priestess with them. For some odd reason the demons seems to be searching through the debris for something before we set off an insistent talking dead voice that is probably putting your elves to sleep."

Kaylayne heads in to report to Eviana with the rest. She doesn't add much unless Lief or Allarnon missed an important point.

"Is there more we can do this day?" Kaylayne asks Eviana, still fully committed to honoring her side of the bargain. In addition, she's fought so badly, she wants chances to make up for it.

Eviana thanks you for your efforts and report. ”I think I’ll have something more for you in a little while, but for now get some rest and lunch. I’ll send a runner when our plans are firm.” She seems so calm when all around her are buzzing. She is definitely in control - the eye the hurricane moves around.

It's not that Kaylayne has no questions for Eviana, but she knows the elf high general is busy and decides not to ask them. Questions like: How is the war going? Have the losses been great? Have the drow mounted a counter offensive yet? wouldn't be helpful at this time.

Kaylayne nods and goes to find food. When she finds it, she eats...knowing that it is likely to come up again should they happen again upon those wretched retching demons.

Dimitrio breathes out and washes up before lunch. All the hustle and bustle of a war camp is new to him and he's not really sure how to make himself useful. In the end, he decides to do as he's told and relax.

He takes off his boots, cleans his weapons, and pulls out his lucky coin. The coin is soon dancing from knuckle to knuckle on his left hand.

Eyes darting every which way, he does his his best to start some small chat to pass the tense time, "Where do you think they'll send us next?"

Allarnon perks up with wide eyes, filled with excitement. "Maybe a city! or some caves!. Either way I have not seen any of them before."

He lays back down on the soft ground, folding his arms behind his head as he looks up into the peaceful trees wondering where his journey might bring him next.

After several minutes and realizing he has a little more free time he turns to his sack and pulls out his journal and begins to sketch the drow priestess and the demons. "The elders will be interested in this..." He mumbles to himself.

Ederin takes the time to relax when it's given.

"Been in lots o' fights. Always some part of a larger organization, yeah? Never been a real soldier before though, not sure I like it." He thinks out loud as he gets a bite to eat.
"Don't like havin' to rely on all these other people to accomplish somethin'. Simpler when it's just a handful of you. Wherever they send us next will likely be in the city, don't know enough about how the combats goin' to figure where though."

After a quick nap Ederin goes in search of more ammunition.
Safe to assume I can replenish my cold iron arrow stock?

An hour later you are summoned to Eviana’s tent. Presuming you go, you are escorted in quickly and presented to her in front of a large table.

Eviana motions to a map of Celwynvian that has been carefully tagged with a number of small flags, some black, some green. “These green flags represent our current troop deployments around the city, while the black flags indicate known drow holdouts. One such holdout in particular has caught our attention, and taking it out might help us greatly in the long run. We believe these ruins,” she says, indicating a spot on the northern edge of the city, “contain an alchemical workshop where the drow have been producing many of their insidious weapons. We want you to storm this place and take it out. The sooner the better if you’re ready.”

”You’d travel here, along the outside of the city, so as to avoid the main fighting. And then strike in quickly.” she points to a series of animal trails marked on the map. ”Make sure you neutralize their operation when you’re done. We have no use for those alchemicals right now and cannot hold the building at this time. So it’s possible they’ll retake the building after you leave. So leave nothing behind they can use please.”

”As you can see, we’re making great headway, as you would expect from our superior numbers. We fully expect them to collapse into their ‘Armageddon Echo’ in the next day or two, but this time we’ll be right after them.” She smiles, somewhat hopefully.

Not really knowing what an alchemical workshop is Allarnon nods his head enthusiastically regardless. "If that is what you think is best."

Grabbing his spear he turns to go. "We will take care of the place."

Dimitrio sighs and looks at Layne and Lief, "So now we are the cleanup crew. We are supposed to go in and murder people. Never mind defending ourselves. Was this what you were expecting to do?"

He shakes his head, "We keep getting dragged further and further down the hole. When do we say enough is enough?"

"Got a question myself though. Ain't you a little worried this Armageddon Echo might be a trap?" He frowns as he thinks. "When we were just dog biters my brother and I used atagonize bigger cows into chasin' us. Always caught 'em by surprise in some alley we'd set up for ambush, a few got smart and walked off but anyone who followed us gave us sweets or got kissed, yeah? What if you drop into this place an' that's exactly what the drow wanted?"

"Why would you bite dogs?" Allarnon stares queerly at Ederin. "They taste terrible and I am sure their bite is bigger than yours." He says as he spits into the dirt, wiping his mangy, greasy hair from his face.

Lief produces the talking sphere, and hands it directly to Eviana. "In the Library, we were able to retrieve this. It's been quite elaborate in its descriptions. Sorry. Not sure how long it will continue. As for the laboratory, is it new to Celwynvian? Or is it part of the ancient city? I am not sure if I can participate in that kind of desecration. If it's purely drow, alright. Speaking of which, what does your intelligence tell you of the denizens of this lab? We came across spiders, dretches, as well as the drow, in the Library. We'd be grateful to learn of what we may encounter."

Lief looks at the dancer, suddenly worried about the man's well-being. "Are you alright, Dimitrio? Did you hit your head somewhere I didn't see? We're assisting in war. If you're having second thoughts, I'm glad you're speaking up now, before we return. They might have need for entertaining the wounded here. Perhaps you should stay, and rest."

Lief thinks for a moment before answering the archer. "We're inserting ourselves in a scene of a play that's been running for some time between the elves and the drow. The drow have been using the Echo for some time, I think. They would have already used it to that effect, I would think. The problem I see, now that you've framed it, is what happens when we get the chance to follow them into the Echo ourselves. It's their territory. We'll be at a disadvantage, at the very least."

The young man considers producing more formulae, but recognizes that time is of the essence. "If we have time, I can renew the hastening effect. If not, I'm ready to go."

Allarnon quickly digs through his waist bag. His arm falls nearly shoulder deep before be produces a small twig. The twig is the wand of CLW that he was sent with from his mother. "This is almost gone after just a couple encounters with the drow. I will go and pick up a couple more from the elves."

Allarnon turns and makes way for the camp's stores. He drops a small sack of coins down on the table and asks if the elves have any wands like his.

Will purchase 2 Wand of CLW for 1500 gp. That leaves me with 454 GP.

"Not sure why he'd want to bite a dog either. But I do have a deal with the elves to do what we're going to do...so let's get going."

Kaylayne is ready to go. When the building is in sight (or near sight), she will drink her antitoxin and see if anyone needs a barkskinning Allarnon, you and Tark set?. She will cast magic stone 3 times and Heroism on herself.

"What are you talkin' about mate?" Ederin looks at Al confused. "I think you missed the point. Anyway I'll come with you to find some wands if they got any."

If we can find someone wants Ederin will buy one of the two and hold onto it if that's fine with everyone.
