Dimitrio, worrying, attacks the tentacle holding him hoping to break the creatures grasp. He doesn’t get separation, but does manage a pair of hits. Lief connects with a mighty flare of fire, and though the creature seems resistant to the fire, plenty of damage is done. Ederin disappears for a moment and returns shaky but still manages an exceptional pair of hits. Allarnon connects twice and Tarkir once, though Tarkir seems to struggle against some sort of DR and does no damage to the tentacle. Kaylayne lays her hands on the tentacle and drains it of some of it’s mighty strength - though it does not let go.

A tentacle reaches out through the planes between the worlds and grasps at Ederin, even as the other ungrappled tentacle tries to grab Allarnon.

Dimitrio slashes away but the tentacle keeps him from dancing the way he wants, and he fails to land even a single slice. Lief hacks away at his tentacle and manages one mighty blow out of the lot. Ederin, GMPC, does some serious damage with his bow. Allarnon gets a scratch in, but cannot manage a bite - yet it’s enough. Kaylayne connects again, and manages to drain its strength even further!

The tentacles release their holds, though the one on Tarkir hesitates the longest, and withdraw into the space between the worlds. All is quiet for the time being as the mighty creature seems to have withdrawn from the battlefield. However, please remain in rounds.

Lief and Heal DC 20:
You realize that the glyph is filled with life and must be tampered with by an expert healer in order to deactivate it. As a full round action, a character adjacent to the glyph may attempt a DC 30 Heal check to divert the flow of life through its runes. This deactivates the aura for a round.

Three consecutive successful Heal checks made on the glyph deactivate it permanently, requiring a new ritual from Allevrah to restore its power. These checks must be made in consecutive rounds, by the same character. If any damage is done to the glyph, the character must start the process over from the beginning.

Lief takes the electrical hit, not expecting it, distracted as he looks back and forth among the crystals. Ederin's caution only lends to the paranoia of another tentacle grab...

"'And so spoke Abraxas: give unto me your faith, and I shall grant to you a cleansing unlike any you have witnessed or conceived.' This, this is not like the first Glyph, the Fury Glyph. Well, it still has the same resistances to all energy forms, and needs to be bludgeoned to see it properly destroyed... but... I cannot 'talk' to it, and calm it. It requires the artistry of healing, someone expert in the skill of healing. That is not me."

Lief is thorough in explaining what is required to deactivate the Glyph Three consecutive DC 30 Heal Checks, and points out again that this Glyph is essential to see their work on the other Glyphs is not in vain, within the 72-hour window.

"So, which one of you wants to try your healing hand? I am woefully unprepared to tackle the Glyph this way. Otherwise, we should stand back a decent distance, and try to destroy the Glyph without finesse."

Lief's expression is one that supports the former option, not the latter.

Lief looks back on Dimitrio much like someone trying and failing to revive a dead loved one. "No, sadly. This is seeking something more mundane, strangely enough. That it craves a sentient interaction in a similar vein to its healing boon on evil creatures, it almost feels like its seeking atonement outside of magic altogether. If we can't do this, we have no choice but to destroy it outright. Allarnon? Ederin? Can you demonstrate expert healing skill?"

If no one will step up to perform this odd engagement, Lief floats from the glyph an ample distance, and waits for the destruction to begin.


Roll 20 Map

Dimitrio pulls a wand and heals a bit, urging Lief on. Lief approaches the glyph and lays his hands upon it, studying it and sparking a little lighting. Ederin closes in and eats a bit of fruit. Allarnon and Tarkir also close in with the glyph. Kaylayne also heals, almost everyone, a little.

Lief, you cannot close with the glyph to study it, and float away from it in the same round. I put you on the map 5’ up, next to the glyph where you were touching it.

While the party moves into position, there’s a shimmer at the glyph under the arch. It takes but a moment, and as you stand watching, none other than Allevrah Azrinae (image) appears!

She speaks in common, slowly but with a smile on her smooth black features, as if pleased she has a worthy adversary, ”I see, so you’re back to harass me further. I thought it might be you when the other glyph fell. No matter. You shall not succeed. You are too late!” she laughs.

Dimitrio begins to perform and casts blur to aid in his defense. Lief draws his weapon and readies a poisoned bolt. Ederin launches a volley of arrows through the gate and a strange thing happens. The arrows fly into the arch, and disappear! Some reappear flying through other arches, and arrows fly everywhere! (There is a risk that one of Ederin’s shots hit one of you - or even Allevrah by chance, but it’s very complicated and I’m not going down that road. Suffice to say, things hurled between the arches do not hit their intended targets.) Allarnon, not sure what to do, delays. (Allarnon, you may post this round when you do your next if you like. I suspect you’re moving through the arch to get to Allevrah, but I'm not going to do that to you - especially after Ederin pointed out the risk.) Kaylayne’s ray hits the glyph (at least that’s how I’m ruling it) and the glyph pulses more quietly for a round (disabled for one round).

Where the glyph is there is no planar abnormality. So you can shoot through the glyph (if you get the angle right) or step through the glyph without dimensional shifting. Of course you don't know what will happen to you by stepping through the glyph... Could just be the 3d6 electricity jolt.

Allevrah steps back. With a word and a gesture, she fills the area with flame! The flames wend and weave, contort and twist, but there’s a line of fire running between and through the party and the region. Quite impressive.

Dimitrio soaks a little damage but avoids catching fire as he rushes to rejoin the party. The passage between the worlds throws him however, and he is dazed on the other side. Lief protects himself further, and tries to get out of the way of another spell. Ederin double moves, trying to find a way to get to Allevrah without going through an arch. Allarnon and Tarkir wade through the arch, and it hurst their sensibilities, but they recover and attempt to ravage Allevrah - but they fail to land a single blow on the dodging, heavily armored foe. Kaylayne hits the glyph solidly this time - and holds it in place.

Allevrah steps over, and provokes with her casting from Allarnon and Tarkir, seemingly unconcerned. She breathes, and Allarnon and Dimitrio find themselves in a miasma of horrible vapors. DC 25 Fort save (poison) or suffer Con damage - Allarnon: 1d3 ⇒ 3, Dimitrio: 1d3 ⇒ 3
