I just finished the first of my finals and I'm wiped out with a splitting headache. I was up all night studying and so I'm going to sleep now. I will catch up and post later tonight or in the morning.
Sorry to fall behind. I'll catch up asap.
PS: Pretty sure I passed that one. One more on Thursday and then it's back to the States for Clinical Rotations!

Anton Vitruvian |

Sorry, I got a bit confused. Anton had a lower initiative so I thought I had to wait before acting and I'm not online in the evenings. How do you handle the initiatives and combat?

GM of Blinding Light |

Normally, once I have the initiative order I keep the order as simple as possible. For example:
Pretend initiative order:
Anton, Nikita, Dane.
Your enemies
Sion, Donovan, Mordesel.
In this case Anton, Nikita and Dane act first in any order convenient to them.
Once they've acted then the enemy acts.
Finally Sion, Donovan and Mordesel have their actions. Once again, in any order that is convenient for them.
If you want to have your action, feel free to do so now. I wasn't sure what Anton would do, so I had him throw a dagger. Pretty sad on my part really.

Nikita Vicci |

I just finished my last final for the first two years of medical school and am still alive. I am catching up with all of my games as quickly as possible.
Thank you for DM-PCing me and I apologize for disappearing. My exams were brutal.

Nikita Vicci |

I got all of my results today. I passed all of my courses as well as the program. No more four hour lectures, pointless lab sessions and mindnumbingly frustrating questions written by people who speak poor english.
YAY!!!!!!!
We leave the island Thursday for the States where I will be sequestered until March to prepare for Step One of my Boards. I will have a short vacation then until May when I will begin Clincial Rotations in NYC.
So, I should have far fewer problems making my one post a day for the next six months. 8)

Cookies!?
Forget the warden guys, let's just go back to sitting patiently in our cells and chow down!

Mordesel |

I just tried to look at Rolld20, and I'm not seeing anything. It's all black.

Mordesel |

Okay, it's working now.

Mordesel |

Just to let you know, I can't move my token on rolld20.

Sion |

Dam that sucks :/
Haha when I realised smite gives me an extra +5 to hit i was like, DAYUM. His alignment is good I hope.
And my AC is 21 against him :p

Sion |

DM. Would you be ok with me going the Lord of Darkness archetype instead of plain antipaladin? Looking at it has me thinking that aura of obedience is right up his alley. Especially if I take Dazzling Display for a feat. Everybody in 10 feet gets commanded. XD

GM of Blinding Light |

Woops. I haven't checked Discussion page in a while. Hope you get well soon Nikita. Take it easy.
Yep, the warden was certainly good aligned (lawful good actually) so the smite was well placed.
Since we're still only at 1st level I don't mind allowing a few changes to characters. Lord of Darkness archetype is fine with me.

Nikita Vicci |

I hope everyone had a great holidays. I'm afraid to say that I spent so much time in the hospital that I'm going to have to drop my online games to catch up for my board exams. 8(
I really had a great time playing with you guys and I really wish you the best with your game. If I make it back to the boards in April, I hope we can run into each other again. 8)

Lineera Vonnarc |

Sorry to hear that Niki, best of luck on the exams and I do hope we get to play again. Really loved your character concept.
But to everyone, Happy New Year! Here's hoping it's better than the last for you, regardless of how poor or great it was to you.

Mordesel |

I moved Mordesel to where I think he'd have been waiting. However as requested, I'm waiting until Sion turns out the lights. I'm not sure how he's going to work that with the surprise round, but Mordesel would have waited for the advantage.

GM of Blinding Light |

In Play by Post I'm pretty flexible with initiative order, since waiting for each player to post in sequence can be tedious.
Typically, my only concern is whether a PC acts before or after the NPCs do, but that doesn't apply in the surprise round.
Dang, I forgot to mention any buffs you guys want to put up can be activated BEFORE the surprise round. Unless it attracts the guards attention somehow, it won't affect the surprise round or initiatives.

Donovan Gance |

Terribly, terribly sorry everyone, I had a quick spot of urgent business to attend too and have been gone the past few days. Next time I'll make sure to remember to leave a notice. Anyways, it like I came just in time, to battle!

GM of Blinding Light |

I think Dane mentioned the issue of XP progression earlier.
The campaign is set on a medium XP progression. I'm going with that although since you have a 5 person party (the book assumes 4) I might throw another encounter your way or simply reward bonus XP to speed things along.
On another note, do you guys want a 6th member again? I'm considering posting up on the recruitment page. We are light on divine magic, so a cleric/oracle might be preferable.

Mordesel |

I wouldn't mind a divine caster on the team, but I'm also not dying for one or anything (well not yet anyway, but I might. . . . :-P).

Anton Vitruvian |

Things may be a bit hairy near the beginning, but as we level, particularly when we vamp out, things should be a bit better in the healing department (e.g. more spells per day for Anton; perhaps Donavan could take Infernal Healing; Sion will be able to heal with touch and burst a bit later; feeding of the tasty humans; etc.). It might be more concerning that we have no one to handle traps/locks, but I don't know folks' level progression, so perhaps someone will dip in there (and there are also other ways to bypass traps).

Dane Grahn |

I personally think six is the prime number for party size. Too much bigger and the game becomes unwieldy and people tend to start stepping on each others' concepts, be it build wise or background wise. Too much smaller however, and the GM gets the unsavory task of deciding whether to throw challenges at the players who have no effective way of dealing with it, or just pretending that that particular type of challenge doesn't really exist. Not having anyone who can handle traps right now is a prime example of this.
So I'm in favor of adding an extra person to our ranks via traditional recruitment. We'll probably have a good in for them when we meet our mysterious benefactor.

Mordesel |

So it sounds to me like we are for recruitment with either a divine or trap finding focus.

Dane Grahn |

My congratulations! Given circumstances, I think it may be viable for Mordesel is just going to be out of action for a while. Our only potion has a less than 50% chance of getting him back on his feet anyway, so the timing is decent enough.

Duderlybob |

Yeah, due dates are weird. I know mostly just because one of the "That's weird!" stories of my birth is actually being born on my due date. :P
Take time as you need it, jump in when you can, we'll trudge on otherwise. On that note, since it IS your character after all, want to weigh in on the yay/nay as to whether or not to use the potion? Obviously Dane can't hear you, and Mordesel can't talk, but I don't want to just completely leave you out of the discussion.

Mordesel |

I'm honestly fine either way. I don't think we'll need to save it, but you're right that it probably won't wake me. Either way. I won't be offended if you decide not to use it.
