Saw Volsung's note about introducing my owl too late to edit my post, so I'm going to append it

I squint at the chaos of the battle, trying to understand what I can exploit for advantage in the battle when I spy something glistening in the morning sun, drawing my attention to something I might have otherwise missed.

Percival adds his cunning (+2) to my discern reality roll for a total of 10. With his aid, my full list of questions is:

  • What here is useful or valuable to me?
  • What should I be on the lookout for?
  • What is about to happen

Specifically, I'm scanning the battle to figure out if there is any vulnerability or weak spot I can exploit, any additional threat that we're too distracted to see and to anticipate what the Godslayer plans on doing next so I can have an advantage over her with my next strike

On the bright side, you'll definitely make level 7 if you survive.

I'm going to just give an idea of what happens

Tom stands firm, and even wound the godslayer, however lightly. though you bear a high cost for it. Yeah, damage was the move. Ron interposes himself between you and the godslayer.

Roshan is unable to latch onto the woman, but blinds her, and catches the strap of her armour, which falls to the ground, leaving her unarmoured.

Conwall watches, noticing three things. firstly, her power comes from her sword. every time she uses any supernatural ability, her grip tightens, and sword glows slightly. you've seen something similar in the skysteel staves that elven magi often forge). Secondly, you hear hoofbeats coming up the Marshway. thirdly, the woman is changing into an aggressive stance, she plans to eviscerate Ron.

As she brings the point of her blade to bear against Ron. but a voice echoes across the marsh, and an arrow sprouts from the godslayer's back. Godslayer, I abjure thee in the name of Mersile, lady of light, goddess of healing and bringer of justice. shouts one of the figures on horseback, closing quickly with your group

Ron, you need to DD. Ron & Belym both recognize the voice as belonging to thaddeus, and those two and Conwall recognize the second figure as Scath. there are enough people that between sheer numbers and blindness, she can't maintain a proper guard. H&S no longer requires a DD to get in range.

With the Godslayer distracted, Belym launches a barrage of boulders, hoping to catch her with her guard down.

After spinning through the air, sword's flashing through the air as counterbalance like a cat, Roshan lands and skids back on her heels. She doesn't hear the incoming horses or the abjuration. She doesn't really see anyone else.

All she sees is the Godslayer's flagging endurance.

The templar advances with Willow in the Winds, but shifts, first to Rose in Blossom, then twists, extending into a precarious lunge with the left and bringing the other blade down in an adaptation of Parting the Silk. A small part of her decides that one should be called Shepherd's Sheers.

Smite: 1d8 + 1d4 + 1d4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + (3) + (4) + 1 + 2 = 16

As the blades ring against eachother, a wave of boiling air tears forward through the Godslayer.

It is Roshan's prerogative to incapacitate the Godslayer, not kill her, and once she's down, she'll begin to defend her if others continue to attack.

Perfect. With the Godslayer distracted and her weakness known, it's time to strike. There are few things that a well-placed skysteel blade cannot shatter. Let's hope her sword isn't one of them. Who is predictable now, mortal? I say, stepping back from her shriveling form. I don't know if anyone intends to contain her, or strike the fatal blow.

Destroy her, Roshan. We can capture her soul in eternal purgatory and let her confess at any time, her body is not required for any of this, Tom say solemnly. Roshan runs her blades across her robes and sheaths them, then unbuckles her interrogation kit. From within, she draws a set of manacles and collar. The manacles bear an inward-pointing screw, and the collar, finely worked, bears a socket which fits the soul stone. "I have worked with a Caloused Hand before, Brother Bonney. If we must ride at speed we can drag her until she is ruined, but until then, suffering resides in the flesh. Your stone will be a sweet release from what she faces ahead."

Fifty Shades of Roshan:
The templar cuffs, collars and fetters the Godslayer, using her belt knife to hobble without severing her hamstrings. Still able to walk and stumble, she'll never run again. With the soul stone set, the collar erodes until the spell breaks through to fulfill the postponed ritual.

Once the wounded are tended to, Ron approaches the Godslayer and removes her armor. He squints at Roshan for a moment, nods to himself, and then moves off the side. He spends about half an hour tweaking straps and buckles while occasionally casting sidelong glances at Roshan.

Happy to help. the situation has been... unusual. we came here pursuing a pair of elves who assaulted Jericho back in Norwhich. we stuck around to defend the town from Einora, while you and Ron dealt with her yourselves. Roshan has a quiet chat with the Godslayer (only mildly squicky):
Equipment is lean in the camp, and as the men break down camp, Roshan does not have as much time as she would have wanted to encourage some truth out of the Godslayer. The templar makes do by running some rope up a solitary, leafless tree. With her arms cuffed behind her back, the Godslayer hangs in a posture of supplication, hair hanging over her eyes.

Roshan works quickly, taking measurements with strange and intricate tools to establish a baseline for the fallen Godslayer's vitals. "As I am sure you are aware, having been in our position before, we need every advantage against a deified being. You'll tell me what you know of your matron's defenses, her vulnerabilities, and what makes you such a prime specimen for the slaying of Gods. Then, if you're cooperative, I'll accelerate the degradation of that collar and you'll be released to your eternal prison. Very simple, very straightforward. Now, let's get this out of your way." With a quick flash of her blade, Roshan shears away a fistful of the woman's hair, letting the severed knot fall at her feet. "Oh- while I will be keeping you at the cusp of death to keep you manageable, I doubt seriously that physical pain is something with which I will be able to manipulate you. Suffering, however, comes in many forms, and I have been starved for... gratification."

For the first hour, Roshan works quietly, speaking to the Godslayer and probing for responses as she uses a delicate knife to cut away clothes and make small cuts into major muscle groups.
