I leveled up since I slept the night in the cathedral. I'm using a potion to remove "confused."

Tom would spend the time in the city fasting during the day and walking the city streets as long as the sun it up to clear his mind and sort of steel his faith for the upcoming mission.

Absolutely. On the way, I'll flag down a messenger (local kid on the street). " Can you find some friends of mine?" Assuming a positive answer, " Here's two coin for your trouble; for each of my friends you bring to the guard house in the next twenty minutes, there's two more for you." followed by a description of the party. (assuming the guard is leading me to the guard house; adjust destination as appropriate.)

When you return to your room, the door closes behind you. in your room with you is another elf, in red chain, alternately brandishing and toying with a large dagger. Conwall, Conwall, Conwall, shall we count the ways you've screwed up over the past few months?

He steps over, to stand in front of the door. Firstly, you seduced a woman beyond your station. What Possessed you to sleep with Larissa, she was betrothed to a young lord of Fall's Leaf. Then you fled, a tacit admission of guilt which broke off her Betrothal. The poor girl will have a great deal of difficulty marrying now.

Then you became involved in the politics of the lesser races. you've left quite a trail, we've met quite a few people in awe of you, including one very interesting one. If we didn't know better, we would have thought you had miscegenated. we gave her a... warning to stick to her own race.

The elf smiles clearly pleased with this And now you're combating a major Asmodean threat, but you haven't sent any word to the Elves, the only ones who could possibly deal with this threat. quite the list of offenses, isn't it.

But I don't particularly like spilling Elven blood, so I'll make you an offer, we can pretend you had intended to tell us, but were prevented by obstructive human, and we will forget your little... Indiscretions in the human lands, and you will come back, to deal with this situation with Larrissa. What do you say? He extends an arm, but he is also watching Catastrophe. What do you do?

Dushane! Always a pleasure, always a pleasure. I appreciate that you're willing to work with me, to sweep my errors under the rug. I have screwed up quite a bit in my journeys, it's true...but so have you. Shall we count?

I take my left hand away from Catastrophe and begin to count on my fingers:

  • You didn't tell anyone what you learned because you hoped I'd come back peacefully and you wouldn't have to fight me.
  • You came alone, likely for the same reason.
  • And you only watched my left hand.

With that, I let a throwing dagger fly with my right hand, directly at Dushane's throat.
Volley: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d10 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7

As soon as the dagger lands, I'm upon him not giving him a moment to respond, making several slashing strikes with Catastrophe.

hack and slash: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 = 8
damage + 2 piercing: 1d10 + 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + (2) + 1 = 8

I didn't come alone, Jakkar is in town too, he's dealing with the Half-Breed. then we kill the drunk mage, the freak dwarf, and the demon-worshipper, to prevent reprisals. he says, trying to old off Catastrophe with his blade. he's clearly hoping to distract you from the spell he's casting with his right hand, what do you do?

Roshan spent the first night building an empty cairn for Danyal in the graveyard behind the burnt out cathedral, dying her clothes in the blood of the demon, and meditating at the altar. She's moving around the cathedral enough that the townsfolk should generally know where to find her.

She can question, but she won't be able to press him to sleuth the truth from the lie without "significant emotional or physical scars". Demons and cultists are one thing, but Roshan doesn't leap at the opportunity to torture civilians. Plus Belym's here.

Roshan gives Belym a look that suggests she'll be gentle, and takes a seat across from the prisoner. She leads him through a volly of questions that hammer on the details of the purchase, the reasons the item caught his eye, what he ate this morning, what the salesperson was wearing, and how his family is doing. Many of the questions are simple, meant to test his reaction to simple, honest questions. Some seem simple enough, but aren't things people tend to actually remember. They test how the prisoner reacts to things he may be guessing at. At one point she goes on a tangent about a turtle, struggling to right itself, followed by a question about the man's mother.

I was hoping I could tell the guy to say "hocus pocus" while holding the dagger, and if he did, it would definitely Do Something (incriminating, ideally); with the idea being that he would know he'd be found out, and therefore refuse. If it's purely mental activation, however, that can't work.
