You have to draw back you bow very fast. as you loose your arrow, your string snaps. an easy fix, you probably have a few spare strings on you, but it will take a moment to do

Glancing around, she briefly contemplates the hole she created in the city wall (I didn't think I hit it that hard. That's going to be awkward if anyone was paying attention to how that happened), before turning her attention to the giant ravager slumped in the hole. Where do these larger specimens come from?

Question: just how big are the giant ones? Also, spouting lore to see if I'd overheard anyone talking about these during my exile in human lands:

Also - Scath, sorry for not running to help, but I don't think I could see you from here. The diagram was very helpful - I know those take some work to create, but when you get the chance they're quite handy.

They are about 8-9 feet, maybe 6-700 pounds

You recall vaguely, some lore about Ravagers. that they were once men, before some enchantment, or curse, or something (never is very clear, is it?) took away who they were, and replaced it with a burning hatred of man, and everything he stood for. they also say that this curse mutated them, some became scarred and ugly, and really strong. others became scarred, and ugly, and big.

you don't have to roll for that, I will just tell you that there are no more enemies withing the town, but the sounds of combat echo from just beyond the gate

Final gambit makes that a 10.

He looks back up the hill to where the militia is beginning to form. Build bucket chains and get these fires out! Evacuate all civilians!

He turns to Thaddeus, Of course I remember ye lad! You've grown! This isn't over until we secure the gate. Let's move!

Ron jogs to the gate as fast as he can manage and surveys the situation outside.

keep the gambit, you weren't right beside the building when it fell (I think). no need to Defy Danger

Ron & Thaddeus you arrive to see Scath shoot down a ravager, and see Rigwald engaged with another giant Ravager. what do you do?

Oh sorry! I read the results as if the arrow never fired, in that case I will wait for Rigwalds move before my next action. Do you have a roll you want me to do to see if I can repair it or how long it will take

Belym looks up from the giant, and spots the remaining giant outside the gate. Seeing Rigwald's condition, she charges at the giant, conjuring a few pebbles and pelting him as she yells, " Hey, ugly! I did your friend here in, and I'll do the same for you! "

Trying to distract the giant from Rigwald, without risking a bad roll injuring him further. Using Trickle to create some very small stones. Not sure if a move would be appropriate here (possibly Parley?) if there is, please roll for me.

Belym, that could be an aid move I think. I could definitely use it.

Rigwald sees the small stones flying at the brute and decides to take the chance that is offered. He lays into the brute with the bloody greatsword, hoping the barrage of pebbles distracts the opponent enough to give Rigwald an oppening.

Hack and Slash: 1d6 + 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + (7) + 2 = 15

Rigwald feels the blade strike true! With a wordless snarl he pushes the sword deeper into the brute's flesh, then twists and wrenches it out.

I agree with Rigwald that it was probably aid another, but it is kinda irrelevant at this point, so I am just gonna let it be a characterizing moment, if that is okay

you masterfully dodge the brutes hammer, and spill its guts with a slice. it falls to the ground, grunting in pain before wheezing its last. The last of the Ravagers is slain, what do you do?

you slump, and examine the damage. the square is full of bodies, ravagers and about 4 guards who were slain. the gate and a section of wall have been leveled. the town was only spared destruction because of a handful of misfit outsiders who decided to intervene while the militia was caught with its pants down. The militia/bucket brigade is quckly moving to quench the fire (thank god the river is nearby)

What do you do?

also, for everybody, now the attack is over, what do you do?

Ron first rushes to Rigwald's side and pulls out a bandage. As he works, he speaks, Fine work lad. I haven't seen anything like it since the war. You'll be right as rain in a moment.

Rigwald heals 4. Mark 1 use of bandages.

When his work is complete, he turns to Thaddeus. Well fought friend. Let's meet at the tavern later. I'd best get the militia to work barricading the wall as best we can.

He turns to find the militia captain, to set up orders to finish putting out the fires and then barricade the broken wall as best as they are able.

He can be found organizing the militia from the inside of the gate.

Unless Ron offers other suggestions, Belym will start dragging the ravagers' bodies outside the wall, taking the chance to see if they've got anything useful on them, before lending a hand with the barricade.

Given that the "Bender of the Elements" advanced move explicitly allows for "holds it's shape" as an option, I'm thinking that the stone Belym creates is very temporary, dissolving into sand after a couple of minutes. Does that make sense to you all?

Sorry, I forgot

looking through the ravager's pockets/pouches, you find about 150 coins worth of random shiny things. you also notice that several of their blades are of braxos make (arrogant bastards put their crest upon the cross-guard of every soldiers sword). and to seal that idea in your mind, you find a broach in the brute pocket, a gaudy thing of jade and silver (worth 500 coin, if you can find a buyer) bearing the sigil of the Taloks, a noble house in braxos. What do you do?

When she gets there, she'll head over to Ron's table; assuming he's there already, she'll greet him with from my prev post""You're not bored today, I'll wager. Had those wounds tended to yet? "

What's the general mood in the tavern? Are people worried about the attack at the gates, have they not heard about it, or do the ravagers just attack on alternate Tuesdays and that's how it is?

Sorry, I forgot

looking through the ravager's pockets/pouches, you find about 150 coins worth of random shiny things. you also notice that several of their blades are of braxos make (arrogant bastards put their crest upon the cross-guard of every soldiers sword). and to seal that idea in your mind, you find a broach in the brute pocket, a gaudy thing of jade and silver (worth 500 coin, if you can find a buyer) bearing the sigil of the Taloks, a noble house in braxos. What do you do?

no one objects (perhaps because it is a spoils of war, perhaps because you occasionally crush people's skulls in with boulders that weren't there a moment ago)

The tavern is in a somber mood. 4 good people died today, and dozens more were hurt. and the attack was almost unprecedented, it has been 5 years since the town has seen combat within its walls, 20 since the walls have been breached. furthermore, everyone knows that if a couple of freaks and outcasts hadn't stepped up to help old Ron, most of the east side would have been leveled, and dozens, maybe a hundred more would have been killed. it is not a good day in Norwhich.

Ron nods at Belym when she enters the tavern, motioning her over.

He laughs at her greeting. No, not bored by any stretch. He gestures to a pint on the table. The tavernwife used to be a medic I think. I'm sure she'll be around soon to take care of this. He holds his hand a bit tighter over his leg wound and mutters, I hope.

Nasty business today. Sorry to drag you into that. And thank you, quite the power you've got there. I suppose it's a bit late to be asking, but what brings ye to Norwhich?

Oi, that's a fine blade you got there. From Braxos? Where'd you come by that?

"A medic? Excellent. Rigwald could surely use her aid as well, and my hands aren't in great shape either.

I'm glad I was able to help. I was in town looking for my kin - I heard they were coming this way, but the trail's gone cold, sadly.

I took these off those Ravagers. So that is Braxos' sign, then? I wasn't certain. Why would ravagers here have Braxan blades, and this?". She pulls out the broach with the sign of the noble Braxan house on it.

for the record, even when you miss on discern realities/spout lore, I won't ever lie to you, I don't think that's fair, and it undermines trust in the GM

Ravagers only connect with civilization through the medium of sword or torch. if they have Braxton weapons, it is likely because they took them from braxton soldiers.

why don't you tell me a little more about Ravagers, what you know ffom fighting them? (BTW, if you haven't guessed, these guys are the reaver-orks you added in. they were just perfect to open with)

Hmm. These things are raiders, must have ranged out to Braxos land recently. As you may have noticed, those things are fast and strong, but the madness drives away reason. I've never seen or heard of them fighting cohesively as a unit. They fight as enraged individuals, which is their only real weakness. Imagine if those beasts had stuck together in a formation! Norwhich would be burning and I'd be dead. Hells, I'd be dead if t'weren't fer you. Lucky day to have met ye!

He takes a quaff from his cup. Mersiel this stings! Don't know where the tavern wife could be. He pulls out another bandage and hands it to Belym. Would you mind?

Can't bandage myself, but I'll mark one use and heal 4 with Belym's help.

Let me have a closer look at that amulet, would ye?

Rigwald waves Garin away with a forced smile and says: "I'll try my luck at the tavern for now. If I'm still shelterless by sunset I'll take you up on that offer!"

To Thaddeus: in my mind we've all been in town for some time now and might have seen each other, and I think we've certainly heard of one another.

Rigwald turns to Thaddeus and says, clutching at his bloody bandages: "Honestly, I think I'll be fine. I'll heal up pretty quick, it's only a flesh would after all, haha! Just need some rest. The non-fighting folk, though, could definitely use the help of a man aided by a god". He says those last words with a mix of slight disbelief and maybe even mild envy on his face.

Volsung, healing HP is all well and good, I should be close to full after a rest. But I'm assuming that wont rid me of the Shaky debility. Would I know how to treat that?

no, feel free to sneak into the tavern whenever you feel like.

as if summoned by your griping, Shailis appears and walks over to you. "So, Ron, tell me, have you ever considered acting like a man half your age, and retiring?"she scoffs as she examines your cuts "It's not that I don't appreciate you defending Norwhich, but you're like as not to die at the hands of some monster, or soldier, and then the Tavern would go under in a fortnight"

she begins examining your wounds, pushing aside your tunic I imagine by now you have removed your armour to get a better look at your cuts. "a stab that needs packing, three cuts that need to be cleaned and bound, and bruised ribs. I can fix you, but it'll cost you 20 coin for the materials and labour. you may also want a few more drinks before we start. Was your friend injured as well?" She says turning to Belym. What do you do?

You reach the tavern to find Ron & Belym already drinking (and being examined by the tavernkeeper's wife) and examining weapons/ a broach. what do you do?

You just injured your joint, a long nights rest in a real bed, and maybe something to remove the soreness, will rid you of the debility

Its been years since I set foot inside, there are new faces and some familiar...old friends, those that cursed me and even some that punished me. I can't go in, Floyd, go get Ron, he'll know to meet me back here I whisper to Floyd before he begins sneaking into the tavern to try to get Ron's attention. A trick I have done before.

Not quite sure what to roll for this, Floyd is stealthy and able to search and scout

To Shailis, Belym replies "My hands are a little scraped up, and I'd appreciate your attention once you've finished with Ron. And, it you've a healer's kit to spare, I'd happily purchase that from you as well. "

To Rigwald: "I'm glad you're still in one piece! Looks like you'll have some fine new scars in your collection."

I'd like to buy 3 sets of bandages (9 uses total) and some poultices, if she's got them for sale. Do I need to worry about converting the ravagers' trophies to coin, or are they spendable as is?

Does anyone have any gold? This seems like a fine time to carouse and raise the town's morale but my char sheet starts me penniless. I know Scath is loaded but a good carousing doesn't fit his char at all.

Ron laughs heartily. Shailis you rogue! I lay here a dying after saving yer tavern and ye charge me! He winks at Shailis and calls out, Careful Lorry, yer bride here is after me own heart!

His laughter turns to a fit of painful coughing. Nay, nay, just needed someone to tie me innards in, and me new friend here she be more than happy to oblige. A few more drinks though ... Be a fine idea!

He jumps a bit and looks down at his leg in surprise. He whispers, Floyd? Yeah ok ok, no biting!

Again to the group, Rigwald is it! Have a drink on me, I'll be right back.

Ron leaves the tavern carrying only his spear. To Scath: I saw your work out there friend. Thank you for coming to our aid. How have you been?

As Ron exits I pull down my hood and toss some cheese on the ground Good work Floyd as I pat Ron on his shoulder, I notice he breifly winces and seeing multiple bandages, I quickly reach into my pouch and pull out a few herbs heal 7 damage. Here you old man, chew on this a bit, you know I always got the good stuff. It's been to long, I guess today something more than your sharp steel brought me to the city, and just in time it would seem. I pull out a pouch with about 650 coins worth of gold and trinkets. Here, you could use this more than I, it looks like you all could use a drink so be sure to share it with our friends inside, anyways, take a look at this I pull out the ring with the signet of Braxos.Found this in the woods, been a while since I've seen this sign...

Ron chews the poultice as he examines the signet ring. The ravager's weapons bore the same sign. Have you known the ravagers to range that far? Perhaps Braxos has sent out soldiers to our land, who met an unfortunate end.

Ron takes the sack of loot. By the gods Scath, keep this out of sight! He hurriedly pockets the loot. We need to find out why Braxos men are near Norwhich. In the morning I'll meet you in the woods outside the northern gates with a few friends and we'll scout towards Braxos. Could you find the ravagers path tonight so we can follow it in the morning?

I've never once seen them attack such a defensible place, but then again Ive never seen them with that brute of a beast either. It does seem strange to see so many signs of Braxos. I will head back to the wood and see if I can find a trail. Get some rest my friend, share a drink with the others and I will see you when the sun rises

The amulet/broach bears the sigil of house Talok of Braxos, you are pretty sure they are a millitant house, you might have faced off against a general Tarlok, but you don't remember 100%.

There was some currency in the loot, and you can easilly go to the market to cash in everything but the amulet, that will take a bit of doing. you can buy those supplies from her easilly enough, it will run you 30 gold. what do you do

The ravagers are not particularly stealthy, not that it would have mattered if they were. their tracks lead back to what was doubtless their camp. a dozen dead ravagers, and the corpses of almost as many soldiers lay strewn about the camp. no one is left alone. What do you do?
