Vael Oakfist |
Vael moves quickly towards his boss. "Let's get ye out of here!"
He grabs the man and drags him towards the door.
Dungeon Master S |
Vael grabs his boss, and moves for the door. The half-orc yells out, "Where're yer goin?! I'll cut you to pieces yer scardy losers!"
Round 1:
Hamilton: Kill
Whistle Pig: Hit
Vael: Rescue
Doxon: Hit
Ushyle: Kill
Raen: Go
Baddies: TBD
Half-orc 5
Raen Varkath |
Raen's stomach does another turn. "Trunauans don't turn on each other!" she shouts to the whole room. She steps carefully behind the fighters and addresses the only other still standing. "Your drink has clearly blinded you. Prove your valor on the wall, not behind a bar! Or else I must attend to your sight."
Dungeon Master S |
Indeed, the drunken half-orc (whom no one recognizes) charges. He ignores Ushyle and Hamilton and aims his greataxe at the threat before him:
AoO from Ushyle and Hamilton.
Raen's ray goes wide as the axe comes down: ATK: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17 for DMG: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
AoO:
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Round 2:

Whistle Pig: Go

Doxon Greyforge |
Round 2
Doxon hustles around the melee to come at the half-orc and surround him. As Doxon steps up, with a deep growl, he swings his pick at the enemy.
Pick: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
In his enthusiasm, Doxon stumbles as he rushes in and his swing breezes past the half-orc.
Dungeon Master S |
Even the drunken half-orc knew that was a bad swing.
AoO:
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Round 2:
Hamilton: Go
Whistle Pig: Go
Vael: Go
Doxon: Crit Miss
Ushyle: Go
Raen: Go
Baddies: TBD
Half-orc 5
Dungeon Master S |
Just a moment after Raen's spell misses, but before the axe falls on her, Ushyle cuts the half-orc short...at the knees. He drops to the ground in a pool of rapidly spreading blood.
Rabus lets out a cheer as he twists in Vael's grip to see the action...
Each of the thugs has a singular light blue potion tucked into their belt. They have little else on them. Their gear is standard issue (greatsword, spear, and dagger). You likely don't have time to take their chainmail. Between them they have a total of 4 gold coins, each bearing the imprint of Freedom Town.
The half-orc is was far better equipped. He wears a pair of bandoleers, with a total of 7 potions loaded in. His greataxe is of masterwork quality. His coin pouch contains 59 gold coins, stamped in Belkzan.
Rabus uncharacteristically hugs Vael, "Ye done saved my bar! I meant it, free drinks for life. Also... here. Take these." He runs back in, almost slipping on blood and grabs some potions from below the bar. "These two will remove sickness, and these two are soothe syrup."
For eliminating the drunken thugs, and saving Rabus and the Killin' Ground, each character receives 179 XP.
Ushyle |
Ushyle nods to Rabus with a small smile, plucking the masterwork greataxe from the fallen half-orc — Nice work for Belkzen-made, he thinks to himself. Usually they're more interested in quantity over quality. Rather like a banker. — and tossing the coin pouch to Doxon (Lawful Good, doncha know!).
He notes the Freedom Town coin with a grim expression. Freedom Town toughs. Of course. Aloud, he says, They've hired blades with them, holding up the Freedom Town coin. We should trust no one we don't know.
Whistle Pig |
Whistle Pig grabs on of the spears ( give some reach right?) "Come on folks. We have more work to do!" as he starts to leave the bar he turns to Rabus, "Get yourself to the Longhouse and be safe my friend, you owe us some beer"he says the last statement with a mix of mischief and longing for a beer.
Ushyle |
WP: depends on whether they're shortspears or longspears. (Giggity.)
Ushyle will also drag the bodies out of the bar and stack them up alongside the outside wall. Maybe we'll have time to take the armor when we finish off the invaders...
Raen Varkath |
To think I almost went there. "My thanks, Ushyle," Raen says quietly, gazing down at the fallen brute at her feet with disdain.
She sets about identifying the group's various finds while the others clean up (and as they walk en route if need be).
I'll just take 10 on everything to make it easier. Check total is 21.
Dungeon Master S |
The spears are longspears (so way too big for Whistle Pig.)
Back on the streets, you watch as Rabus heads towards the triage center. You look deeper into the quarter. Front and center is a massive fire as the trees burn. Laughing nearby is a female half-orc. she holds a trio of vicious dogs who snap and bite at all who come too near.
To your right a bit is a cluster of houses with furniture being tossed outside. The occasional bleeding Trunau resident stumbles out. Beyond there is a tower cut off from the rest. It wouldn't take your attention now, but the pounding drum of an orc leader echoes out of its walls and reaches you even here.
Your spirits sink. you're not sure you can save the town. What do you do heroes?
Dungeon Master S |
Hopeknife: Too hard.
Necklace: Too hard
From the human thugs:
Light blue potions (x2): CLW
From the half-orc:
potions of cure light wounds (2), potion of disguise self, potion of divine favor, potion of feather fall, potion of hide from undead
Raen Varkath |
Raen looks up from her work. "That drum... we must silence it."
Ushyle |
We'll need to get her another time, Ham! Ushyle shouts as he moves toward the cluster of houses. Save the townsfolk! As Doxon always says: things can be replaced — people can't!
Dungeon Master S |
The party advances towards the guard tower now taken by orcs. On the way the houses being looted continue to have stuffed thrown out the window. People continue to flee.
It appears there are a trio of houses, all with multiple orcs inside. As of this moment, they don't seem to notice that anyone who can fight back is near by...
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham picks the house on the left. He slides off of Applejack and kicks in the door, shouting in the orc tongue:
Vermin! Pigs! Leave this place or die!
Dungeon Master S |
A quartet of orcs, each holding a different weapon turns and snarls, "FRESH MEAT!"
Enemy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Raen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Ushyle: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Vael: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Whistle Pig: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Doxon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Hamilton: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Dungeon Master S |

Hamilton: Go
Orcs: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Raen: TBD
Ushyle first: 2d20 ⇒ (7, 12) = 19
Whistle Pig |
Ham picks the house on the left. He slides off of Applejack and kicks in the door, shouting in the orc tongue:
Vermin! Pigs! Leave this place or die!
"Why do you have to be that way, Ham? Whistle Pig says as he loads his sling. "Always using me to describe orcs..." The gleam of mischief flashes in his eyes just like the flames from the building around him.
Hamilton Renaud |
Ham wades into the house. From within, you hear
Sorry, Whistle!
Inside the house, Ham attacks the closest orc and prepares for more...
Longsword:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Eh, maybe...
Damage on Hit:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Dungeon Master S |
Hamilton rushes in and cuts an orc down in a single swing before he even realizes what's going on!
Round 1:
Vael: Go
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Raen: TBD
Vael Oakfist |
Vael moves in behind Hamilton "Ham" Renaud. He begins calling upon the spirits of the heavens in low hum.
Invisible, intangible magic flows from Vael's spiritual energy, filling the mind of an orc mind with a whirling display of images!
Daze of closest orc he can see (red?). DC 13 Will save.
Dungeon Master S |
The orc tries to fight the images, Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3, but h loses his train of thought as his fellow looters rush past him.
The first orc gives a grunt. It's clear these guys have worked together before. The first hurls a set of bolas at Hamilton's ankles ATK: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11, but they fail to wrap around. He then closes, drawing his falchion on the way. The other cognizant orc flies out the back, shouting for back up!
Perception: 2d20 ⇒ (8, 9) = 17
Round 1:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: ATK
Ushyle: Go
Whistle Pig: Go
Doxon: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle |
Open my front door, hear my back door slam — I must have one of them newfangled back door men...
Ushyle steps inside as the ruckus ensues. He hefts his greataxe (he would not yet trust the MW one he found, so it's his old one) and attacks Green.
chop: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
His attack sails past his deft foe, and Ushyle's eyes narrow. That's it, friend. Use that miss as fuel for your overconfidence.
Doxon Greyforge |
Doxon double moves to try and head off the other orc.
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle can't connect as Doxon tries to cut the errant orc off.
Round 1:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: ATK
Ushyle: Mis
Whistle Pig: Go
Doxon: Move
Raen: Go
Whistle Pig |
WP follows Doxon, since he knows there is activity in the three houses he readies and action to hit any weapon bearing orc/half-orcs come into view.
sling bullet: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
confirming: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Raen Varkath |
Raen follows, and, seeing the house already filled with melee, decides to see what Doxon is after. She pulls out her shiny new crossbow.
Double move.
Vael Oakfist |
Vael repeats his gestures and chanting. Those around him note that he pulls out a bit of wool from a small pouch.
Like before, invisible, intangible magic flows from Vael's spiritual energy, filling the mind of the orc with a whirling display of images!
Daze on closest orc (green). DC 13 Will save.
Dungeon Master S |
Whistle Pig steps back and gets his sling up and and going as the orcs respond.
Inside the two orcs converge on Hamilton. They skip Ushyle for the moment, hoping to gang up on one foe for a quick victory. With aqxe and falchion they attack:
Axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Falchion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 DMG: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9
Outside the orcs emerge! Whistle Pig cracks the one who tried the back down. The stone hits hard, but doesn't stop him from coming. Wielding a double axe, he swings hard at Doxon
Orcish Double Axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 but his armor protects him! He continues to shout to get back up, but so far, none has come.
Vael tries again with his spell, Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6, and again his magic clouds the enemy's mind.
Round 2:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Go
Orcs: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Raen: TBD
Black: 4 (double axe)
Green: Miss Round 2
Dungeon Master S |
I accidentally posted the Orcs before Hamilton. It should affect much, unless he kills the one who hit him.
Hamilton Renaud |
Attacking the Falchion wielder. He was adjacent before.
Longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage on hit:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Whistle Pig |
WP takes a shot at the orc that is tangling with Doxon
sling bullet: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The crack of Whistle Pig's sling can be heard over the din of battle
damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
WP smirks as another bullet finds it's mark.
Dungeon Master S |
Now confident in his ability to use his sling on foes close to his friends, Whistle Pig scores a hit to the orc's through that drops him into a burgling mess at Doxon's feet.
Round 2:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: ATK
Ushyle: Go
Whistle Pig: Kill
Doxon: Go
Raen: Go
Green: Miss Round 2
Ushyle |
Ushyle brings his greataxe down onto Green!
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
dmg: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
If that drops him, Ushyle will leave ham to spit on the corpse and move on through the house, ensuring no orcs remain nor any residents inside. (I presume he'll see the back door open, if so.)
Doxon Greyforge |
Doxon moves to the door and, seeing the orc distracted by its looting, Doxon brings his pick down on its back.
Pick: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Add'l Crit Damage: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) + 9 = 20
The pick slams down into the orcs back and pierces through its chest. It pauses for just a second to consider the spike sticking out of it before sliding to the ground lifeless.
Dungeon Master S |
Ushyle drops another orc while Doxon gets ready for the inevitable.
Round 2:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: ATK

Vael Oakfist |
Vael moves out of the building. He cracks his knuckles, wiggles his fingers, and prepares to call upon the spirits some more. Tulia, for her part, seems to nod at the shaman.
Ready to cast Daze (DC 13 Will) on the first orc he sees who's about to attack.
Hamilton Renaud |
ROUND 3
Ham moves back out into the yard, towards the home on the right and prepares to attack any Orc that comes into range.
Dungeon Master S |
The orcs in the foyer of the second house are only dimly aware of the ruckus close by. That changes when one of them turns to look at the one in the doorway. Before he can bark out a question in beastly tongue of his kind, the tip of a steel pick bursts forth from his face. The body shudders a bit before it falls to the floor.
Left in the orc's field of vision is Doxon of the Pick.
Round 2:
Vael: Daze
Hamilton: Kill
Orcs: ATK
Ushyle: Kill
Whistle Pig: Kill
Doxon: Kill
Raen: Go
Round 3
Vael: Prepped
Hamilton: Prepped
Orcs: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Raen: TBD
Raen Varkath |
Raen can't help but smile a bit at Doxon's eagerness. Death and war are terrible things to behold, but she can appreciate the beauty of a well-swung weapon splintering blood and bone.
The crash of furniture to her rear makes her turn to see an open door, half off its hinges. Crossbow raised, she sidles inch-by-inch to her left, eyes locked down the shaft of the bolt. A green foot comes into view, then a leg, then a chest, and finally a cruel tusked face leering at some dented metal object in its rough leather-wrapped hand. The trigger snaps.
Crossbow @ Blue: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
