The initiative order is... drums....
Init. Alexos: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Init. Ghoul: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Ting studies the ghoul while Hans approaches it from behind. Alex tries to protect Felicitas.
If I'm not mistaken Felicitas has a surprise action left

Felicitas can see that the ghould is already injured. She knows that ghouls attack with bites and claws and are able to paralyze the hit opponent. Their bites spread Ghoul Fever. Ghouls don't have immunities and all weapons strike well against that type of creature.
Somehow the ghoul can hear or smell you. He turns around and approaches Hans in the front line and slams a claw against him.
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Oy, ‘ats’s what I’s yappin’ ‘bout, tha Bisector strikes agains, wroight
Ting then begins to carefully look at the room along with Alex.
ting will take 20 on perception, did just Alex see the two slots, or did ting see them also? Once Ting see’s them he would like to inspect them carefully

![]() |

The room is empty except the cage with the treasure chests inside and the two slots in the floor next to the treasure cage. One just east and the other one west.
The chests are inside the cage, you cannot reach them without opening it
The cage itself does not have any locks or doors.

![]() |

Oy, I's'l eyeballs 'em wroight
ting looks carefully at the slots in the floor
he will take 20 on perception, checking the slots for traps, is there any knowledge check that may help use understand the slots better?

![]() |

engineering, untrained: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16
are the slots key size or bigger? how much bigger
trying his best to explain ting says
Well, blokes 'ay's ain 't trapsied, an 'ey's look loikes ey's'l turns, but we's'l need two turners; any idear's?

![]() |

Ting and Felicitas can see that both lock have to be turned at the same time to unlock the cage. The slots are bigger than key size, they are more dagger blade size.
light bulb, sorry I'm so dense :)
Ting declares
Oy, I's bloody well got's it, But Alex I needs ya ta take backs tha shiny knife ya gave's me wroight
as tings talking he pulls out the two mitheral daggers and handing one to Alex he drops the other in the slot, smiling. then againg to Alex.
When you's 'as your's in, shout out an we's'l toin at tha same time, wroight

![]() |

"I see... so that is what they are for. Hand me one and I will see if we cannot get this lock to turn with you."
Alex takes the offered dagger and gently places it inside the other slot.
"Ready when you are, my friend. Oh, and do remind me later to write this down... this is actually rather inventive for a locking mechanism and I would record it."

![]() |

Now 'at's what I's yappin 'bout, lets take a look see, wroight
ting carefully approaches them looking for traps
he will take 20 on perception looking for traps

![]() |

ting stands and turns to Alex, pointing from one end of the trunks to the other end, as he talks
Oy, I's aint found any traps, so's what a ya say's Alex; you's start at 'at end wit yer keys, an' I's'l start at 'is end wit me picks; an' we's'l see who opens tha most o' 'ese 'ear trunks, wroight?
ting, being the crook that he is, begins the first trunk before Alex can answer
not knowing the lock disable device number and it being a race we will just roll :)
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
that should be 21 that's three roles per trunk, how did he do?

![]() |

"Be careful... just because there isn't traps on any of the chests does not mean there is not a larger trap if all of them are open at the same time... I remember a story about a city of gold that had a failsafe trap in case of discovery by greedy hands. If the three treasure doors were all opened at the same time, the whole place would fill with lava and sink, killing the plunderers and spitefully destroying the treasure. Can't say if it is true or not, but still be careful."
So saying Alex opens one chest, then peers inside.
Yes, I did steal that from Duck Tales, :)

when ting sees the gems his eyes light up, and he tucks the teak case in his pack.
Now 'at's what I's yappin' 'bout.
he then goes to explore the mouth of the tunnel that the Ghoul was so interested in.
he will take 20 on perception for the tunnel

![]() |

(Does mental math):... 185 GP in copper, 400 in silver, 115 in gold and 140 in platinum... for a total of 840 gold... not counting the gems worth or the plackard's worth... not a bad haul!
After the room does not implode upon having the chest opened, and Alex finished documenting the find, (During: "Ting, I will want to write what kind of gems they had later if you please... and I might want the case... you never know what you can do with a nice case like that....") he removes the daggers again and gives them back to Ting.

![]() |

ting, looking as sheepish as a crow can, smiles and hands Alex the case (and the gems) and takes the daggers
I was jus' lookin' after 'em, I was, wroight
again focusing on the tunnel

![]() |

Ting enters the tunnel. A pair of low barricades made of timbers and rocks partially block the passageway, which opens into a larger cave beyond. These barricades are a trap, someone who attempts to climb over the barricades causes several stalactites to swing down like pendulums of strike foes.

![]() |

ting goes back up the tunnel a little ways and informs the team of the traps
oy, 'ey's got's trapsies, i's'l deal with 'em wroight
and ting goes back to the first barricade to try and disable the trap there.
disable trap 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
are both barricades trapped?

![]() |

feeling extremely lucky ting sneaks to the end of the tunnel to take a look at what is at the end, before reporting back to the team.
stealth to the end then a perception check. right?
stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

![]() |

Nice! Prior to his setting off, right after he hands over the case:
Alex takes the case and looks at the jewels. "Silly Ting, you know I value knowledge over money... the only thing I would want a few jewels for would be to add to my trophy drinking horn... and some how I don't think they would fit in to the motif." Alex smiles at the tengu broadly.
"Once I record the cut styles, colors, types, and sizes (and maybe values and names) I will have no further need of them and they can either go to your shinies collection, be sold for more coin, or given away as gifts to needy orphans.... though for that last one I would think using said jewels to buy them food, clothing some other such necessity would be better for them."

![]() |

Ting finds a larger room at the end of the tunnel. This large cave appears to have been recently scratched from the hard-packed earth, and ist ceiling is only five feet high. Several tons of debris fill the western Portion of the cave. Ting can see an arm reaching out of the rubble near the North end of the cave.

![]() |

ting goes back to the team
I's tooks care o tha trapsies, 'eys gots a big cave at tha end, 'airs a low ceilin' thoughs so's we's'l needs ta ducksies, wroight...oh I tink 'airs some fellers at tha north end too's.
come on's I's'l show ya's wroight
ting turns to go back.

![]() |

when they get to the mouth of the cave ting points out where he saw an arm reaching out of the rubble near the North end of the cave.
Oy,'at's where's I saw 'em, wroight
