So... I went looking for the aura details for Stone of Alarm... And ended up paying fifty-ish dollars for a seriously big (and quite cool) collection of Pathfinder / RPG pdf's from the Open Gaming Store (think it's okay to post the link in this little corner of Paizo's website?)
Dreamscarred Press and Raging Swan bundles for those who might be interested.

Tera Flinders |

Sooooooo tempting, but I am trying to be better about money. Still, that is an amazing value.

DM Nate |

Unless anyone else wants to say anymore on the beach or in the Rusty Dragon (which I'm about to move closer to completion), I think the only thing pending is the (potential) conversation between the girls (in Tera's room)... so, it's probably safe to start posting for 'tomorrow' (day after the funeral).

Kaelaah |

Finally updated Kaelaah to a Pyrokineticist Level 2...
+9HP (+5 from half level rounded up and +4 from CON) - No FC bonus this level, going to take the alternate FC bonus of 1/6 of an Extra Wild Talent feat.
+1BAB
+1 FORT / +1 REF saves
All skills levelled by a single rank...
The fun stuff...
Elemental Defense - Kaelaah can make his body burn hot... hurting enemies that attack with natural weapons or try to grapple him...
Plus he now has a Utility Wild Talent of Fire Sculpting... He can manipulate, to a degree, existing fires to clear paths, etc....
And, as a Spell-Like Ability, I went with Sarenrae's Good Domain and took Protection from Evil as a 1/day.

Tera Flinders |

Aaaaand finally got Tera up to date. Found an issue that I had missed when we first started this, but it's fixed. (It was a holdover from when Tera was supposed to be a Shelynite Paladin.)

Kaelaah |

Tera Flinders - thanks for giving Kaelaah an easy plot-position to get back into the game...
I just realised, as I was writing Kaelaah's post (and was looking for my thoughts on how his powers manifested themselves) that I've deleted his background in the process of updating him to Level 2... ooops!!!! Still, this many posts in, it's all about the shared experiences rather than the past.

Zache Kovachi |

SO! I've rebuilt Zache a little. Tweaked ability scores and feats (changed Agile Maneuvers for Two-Weapon Fighting), kept skill ranks as they were, and given him his 2nd level in bard.
Gained:
- +7 hit points (1/2 d8 + 2 CON)
- +10 skill points (Artistry [poetry], Acrobatics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Knowledge [arcana], Knowledge [planes], Linguistics [Celestial], Perception, Perform [oratory], Use Magic Device)
- +1 BAB
- +1 Ref, Will
- Extra 0-level spell known (scrivener's chant)
- Extra 1st-level spell known (saving finale)
- Well-Versed (+4 to saves vs. bardic performance, language-dependant, and sonic effects)
- Traded out 2nd-level versatile performance for Divine Fighting Style (Desna's Shooting Star)
Among the divine fighting manuals of the Inner Sea, few are as ancient as Clamor of the Spheres, a collection of fighting techniques favored by Desna’s faithful. True to its name, the manual focuses on interpreting the chaos and sounds of combat, but nevertheless provides insightful and downright brilliant methods of defense with Desna’s favored weapon, using techniques that treat a fight with a starknife more as a beautiful dance than a battle.
Optional Prerequisite: A chaotic good bard of at least 2nd level who worships Desna can replace a versatile performance with the following initial benefit.
Initial Benefit: You can add your Charisma bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls when wielding a starknife. If you do so, you don’t modify attack rolls and damage rolls with your starknife with your Strength modifier, your Dexterity modifier (if you have Weapon Finesse), or any other ability score (if you have an ability that allows you to modify attack rolls and damage rolls with that ability score).

Kaede Mayumi |

Can I find blatantly eastern armors in the armory? I'm looking at Tatami-Do, in specific.
Likewise, can I find a MW Cold Iron Glaive? ATM, Kaede has the a normal CI Glaive at the moment.

DM Nate |

The armory does not include any uniquely oriental armor. It does include some lamellar options and silk ceremonial armor but they are all occidental in style. (Plus, tatami-do is heavy armor and they only seem to have light and medium armor here).
Kaede- they will upgrade your glaive, see gameplay for details.
Sal- there are several types of lamellar, which one are you taking?

Kaede Mayumi |

Fair enough. I thought that would be the answer, but asked in hopes that I was wrong. Kaede is going to be looking toward Heavy armor in the near future, especially of the mithral variety, since she's likely going to be the front line for the group.
In any case, Kaede's grabbing the following:
MW Breastplate
MW CI Glaive (Thanks for adding in the Masterwork transformation option)
potion of Cure Light Wounds
Potion of Comprehend Languages

Zache Kovachi |

Zache's taking a masterwork starknife, masterwork studded leather armour, a potion of cure light wounds, and a potion of shield of faith (+2).

DM Nate |

@Everyone- please remember to update your banners too when you update your profiles.
@Kaede- mithril heavy armor (which counts as medium, so it still slows you) costs 8-9k, so realistically you'll be looking at probably at least 6th or 7th level before that'll be feasible.
@Tera- as mentioned, I'm willing to work on custom prestige classes... I know you were thinking about mystic theurge at one point but arcanist/inquisitor is a rough path to that... I'm bringing it up now because based on your previous comments it seems like the two that might make the most sense for you would be a modified theurge or a modified arcane trickster and the latter (if not both) would effect any inquisitor archetype you might take. I don't want you to feel like I'm pushing you to take a PrC (I just want to give you an opportunity to develop the way you feel appropriate for Tera without feeling like you're really lagging mechanically). Please let me know what your thoughts are on this.

Tera Flinders |

So, instead of going to sleep like a smart person who has to work tomorrow, I went ahead and worked out a few things, and found that I had A) Not listed all of Tera's languages B) forgot a skill point (which went into spellcraft) and C) my best bet is probably going to be hitting Mystic Theurge as soon as I can if I want to be able to take advantage of being able to progress as a divine and arcane spellcaster at the same time.
That said, I would like to know if using the SLA from the domain we got for being god marked is still on the table? If it is, Tera's next two levels would probably be as an inquisitor then she'd progress for the next ten as a mystic theurge before alternating or just going straight Arcanist to finish out the campaign.

The SLAs from your domain will count as divine spellcasting for meeting prerequisites for feats/PrCs/etc- so at 4th character level you be set for theurge (on the divine side, you'll still need to hit arcanist 4 to meet the arcane requirement). You can do that however you want but arcanist 4/inquisitor 1 is probably the most mechanically advantageous route. If you're not opposed to it, I'll probably tweak theurge for you since you'll have stunted divine casting (maybe just bump the skill points, or have 1/2 level add to judgements?). Also, I think it's worthwhile for you to look at the living grimoire archetype as an expression of your unique path to divine casting (and for its obvious mechanical benefit).

Tera Flinders |

Derp, shoulda known that something was off. I'll take your suggestion and I don't mind using a modified mystic theurge class. Either option is fine with me, though part of me is leaning towards the skill points.
As for the Living Grimoire, I love the flavor, and may even use it even if I don't take the archetype. It's just that part of why I prefer the Arcanist over the Wizard is the fact that I don't have to prepare a spell multiple times to cast it multiple times. With that archetype, I lose that with the Inquisitor. Not only that, but Tera is already built to use her Wisdom as one of her casting stats. I could rebuild her and make INT her dominate mental stat (with GM permission), but as she is now, there's not as much of a mechanical benefit. I'm on the fence though because I can definitely see Tera smacking some baddies with a big ol' tome, and it definitely fits.
Thank you for working with me on this. Now that I have a way forward, it should be good!

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

I forgot how balanced your Int and Wis were... like I said before, hitting 2nd level here is your one chance to rework things a bit, so if you want to trade some Wis for some extra Int go for it.
One general reminder for everyone: your domain abilities are all Wis based (as normal for clerics), but if any of your domain SLAs have DCs they're Cha based. I'm pretty sure... I better double check that was what I said in recruitment...

Tera Flinders |

Let me save you the trip, that's what you said.
I think I'll leave Tera as is. She's been fun to play and I'm happy with how she's worked out so far.

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I didn't catch your name. Will you be joining us," she asks politely.
Well... that was not at all the plan (he was just a set piece so I could write more without waiting on a light spell)... but since you asked... an RL friend of mine who plays in the other PbP I'm running is going to join us as "guard #2" for some tunnel exploration. he will have an actual name to introduce himself by when he posts this afternoon.
edit: I'm sorry, I probably should have asked before I set that all up... if anyone has objections to being joined temporarily by an NPC let me know and we'll keep his presence relatively brief...

Kaelaah |

...just checking, is his tunic red? ;)

Tera Flinders |

Well, given what happened last time we were down here and that he was following us, I thought he might be joining us, and to be honest, Tera would be wondering about that.
That said, I have no objections, and I'm actually curious to know if there's a possibility of your friend joining us?

DM Nate |

I'm actually curious to know if there's a possibility of your friend joining us?
I don't want to tip my hand, but I will say that if the player seems like a good fit in this group you may see more of him in the future.

Zache Kovachi |

Ugh, forgot to mention it in my update. Zache's taking the Liberation domain, so he gets remove fear as his 1/day SLA, and for 2 rounds a day, he can move as if affected by freedom of movement.
I'll update his alias and tagline, and get a gameplay post worked up.

Zache Kovachi |

Dice... y u do dis...

Tera Flinders |

Happy Thanksgiving, unless you don't live in the States, then Happy Thursday! :)
I also feel Zache's pain. At the moment it doesn't matter that Tera's not proficient in longbows because she would be missing with the crossbow as well.

DM Nate |

In block initiative you can act in any order within your group. In a different game I ran previously (that Orin played in) I would sometimes simplify down the number of groups after the first round but some people had trouble tracking durations and some just got confused so we're going to keep our groups consistent from round to round. (Unless someone holds an action due to failure to post, in which case they will be moved to the next group each time until I bot them.)

Hey, sorry I don't have a map for you all... I don't have the time or resources currently to put one together, so here's the best word map I can give you (you have no real sense of which way is north, but I'll arbitrarily call your current location North for clarity sake):
The dug out tunnel you came in by ran from south to north. There were two places where on the east side the tunnel broke through into these ruins where the floors and walls are made of stone blocks. The southern-most entry was a room with a bunch of rubbish (that wasn't really examined at all). The entry in the middle of the hall was to a chamber with a statue (which also hasn't really been examined at all). The north end of the tunnel opened into the chamber you are currently in. That chamber is 20' from north to south, and 60' from east to west, with the raised platform partially recessed into the center of the southern wall; the doorway Tera looked through heads south (and is to the east of the tunnel) and the walkway/passageway Sal is heading for exits to the east.
If anyone has specific questions please ask.

Tera Flinders |

Makes sense. I kinda remember the layout of the dungeon from when I ran it, so I think I know where everything is in relation to each other.
On another note, for those that are interested, I'm spinning up a sandbox game with some heavy Skyrim flavor. If you want to check it out, just mosey on over here and see if it's up your alley.

DM Nate |

Sorry for the slow down... I'm dealing with a bunch of garbage at work and my wife's grandfather was just taken off of chemotherapy in favor of hospice (end of life care). We'll keep moving but it might be a bit sporadic the next couple weeks.

DM Nate |

RL issues remain ongoing... my posts may become a bit more sporadic again. I'll do my best to keep things moving.

DM Nate |

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making this such a great game. I know it's been a bit slow at times but I've really enjoyed a lot of the RP we've had. I look forward to seeing how things develop over the coming year.
Also, as we celebrate the holidays and very soon our anniversary you (original players)* all get an in game gift!
Gift of the Chosen: In moments of need you can call out for your god's aid. As a full-round action you can spend a hero point to pray for minor divine intervention. This ability can automatically replicate the effects of any cleric spell of 2nd level or lower, or any inquisitor spell of 1st level or lower. You can also request other forms of aid of a similar level of power that are consistent with your god's character (subject to GM discretion).
* Orin- sorry, you haven't been around long enough for an official gift (though, if I'm reading the situation correctly, you might be getting the gift of a magical longsword at least for the rest of the ruins).

Tera Flinders |

Wow, thank you DM Nate. :D
Merry Christmas to all of you. I hope that today has been a good one for you and yours. :)

DM Nate |

Oh, for crying out loud Orin... you and your weapon focus.
Fine. For Christmas Orin can (as an immediate action) get a +2 sacred bonus to any one d20 roll he makes while adventuring with the godmarked. This is a single-use ability.
