Sorry for my sudden silence- I had not one but two crises come up at work. I should, hopefully, be able to post today. If not, I'll definitely get something up tomorrow.

Tera Flinders |

@Orin: Dictionary has it pluralized that way.
@Nate: Seconding Sal here, hang in there and we'll be here when you get back.

plurals?
I dunno. The dictionary on my Mac doesn't say and it doesn't look like that's an issue that the Grammar National Socialist Party has gotten around to yet. (Of course that sentence makes no sense if I got my history wrong. :3 )

DM Nate |

Sorry this took so long...
The Sheriff had two kinds of cloaks to choose from: supple leather, or fur-lined. The supple leather is a +1 cloak of resistance. The fur-lined cloak grants cold resistance 1 (I know that doesn't seem like much but remember that even 1 resistance makes you immune to the damage/fatigue from almost any cold exposure).
Let me know which one each of you are taking.

Tera Flinders |

Dibs on one of the cold resistance cloaks! :P
I'll have that added to Tera's sheet soon.
On another note, I guess Orin won't be joining us this trip. :(

Zache Kovachi |

Zache will also stick with the cloak of resistance +1.

Kaede Mayumi |

Kaede will take the cold resistance cloak.

Zache Kovachi |

I'm still around as well. I've just been dealing with some things that came to a head. I'll try to get a post up with Brother Edrus; if I can't, I'll jump back in once the show's on the road, so to speak.

Orin Telmar |

Things have been busy for me as well. Ever since that day at the glassworks, I have been swamped with additional duties from sheriff Hemlock. I do not know if it is because of his need of extra time to plan for the defense of sandpoint, or to keep me from dwelling on what we saw there.
I fear for our small community, and wonder if this newfound trust and responsibility are wisely placed in me.

...or you could skip ya schooling and follow the cool kids when they head out to bash the goblins!!!
;-)

Kaede Mayumi |

It's not just you. The tech gobs have been out in force the past several days.

Tera Flinders |

Yeah, I've noticed that happening a bit as well.

DM Nate |

I added a map of Sandpoint to my banner for the benefit of the other version of this AP that I'm running... you guys are welcome to use it for reference but be advised that I've modified the Northeastern portion a fair bit (to accommodate a larger, differently shaped cathedral).

DM Nate |

Outfitting Discussion.
Brother Faustwick will, indeed, provide you each with an old bedroll and blanket; and 'Mother' (Sister Hera) will give you each 2 days worth of bread, apples, cheese, and dried meat. Is there anything else you want? Are you going to do anything with the dagger before leaving? What about the wand, are you keeping that (and, if so, who's carrying it)?

DM Nate |

Ok... anyone else have anything they want to request at the Cathedral, or any more buying/selling they want to do?
Is the plan to head out this afternoon, camp over night, and then head for the ruins in the morning? If not, what is the plan?

Tera Flinders |

I thought our plan was to head out early the next morning, set up the camp, then begin scouting Thistletop in the afternoon.
As for gear, are there any bear bags available? Not sure how effective they'd be against goblins, but at least they'd keep the wild animals from our food. Also might not hurt to grab a healer's kit if we don't have one.

Zache Kovachi |

Grabbing some potions and scrolls might be a good idea, as well, assuming we can pick them up. Maybe niche things like detect secret doors, if we know we're going dungeon-diving, and cures are never a bad idea.

Salomae Amsel |
Whoops, good idea too if we have the cash for them! By the way, I suggest either Tera or Zache should carry the wand we found earlier. Don't think we ever got an ID on the dagger; Tera rolled spellcraft for it in the thread a few days back. Guessing it's probably a +1 dagger?
*edit*
Looks like we didn't initially roll for either the wand or the scroll we found, though the DCs are listed here.
Tera did roll for the wand and the dagger later, in this post but looks like we never got a response.

Kaede Mayumi |

Kaede actually still has some traveling supplies from when she came to Sandpoint a little over a year ago, so she has a chunk of what she needs for this. Though... does anyone have ranks in Heal? I don't.
I do agree with Zache about additional magic supplies. Maybe we can sell the dagger for some too. Most of the party can use Cure wands, so if we could get one of those, we'd be in reasonable shape.

Tera Flinders |

Tera has one, for a total of +7 to Heal.

Sorry, I assumed that if/when anyone made the DCs to identify the items they would look back at the spoilers... although... looking back, did I forgot to do a spoiler for the dagger?
The dagger (which Tera successfully identified) is a +1 returning cold iron dagger (sized for a tiny creature).
The scroll (which a simple read magic cantrip can identify) is a burning hands spell at CL3.
No one has made the DC for the wand yet, but Tera can try again...
If you fail again there are some people in town who have some ability to identify magic items... Ilsoari (Tera's former tutor, the headmaster at Turandarock's Academy); Madame Mvashti (a leading matriarch in Sandpoint's Varisian community, and purported witch); or Ameiko (who doesn't typically do that sort of thing but would probably make an exception for the people who saved her).
As for potions/scrolls... there are some available at the cathedral (just low level divine spells); Madame Mvashti often has a few on hand, if you can get her to part with them; Nisk Tander (the proprietor of Bottled Solutions, an alchemy shop) always has potions on hand but his have a reputation for not always being reliable; Chask Haladan (who runs a book store called The Curious Goblin) usually has a few scrolls but he tends to over charge for things... Tell me what you want and I'll tell you if/where you can find it.

Tera Flinders |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
If Zache doesn't want it/can't use it, Tera will take the wand.
I still say sell the dagger. It's too small for it to be practical for any of us.

Kaede Mayumi |

The biggest problem with selling the dagger is the cost. That dagger's worth over 10,000 gold. I doubt anyone in Sandpoint can afford it, even at the normal half price people tend to get for selling magic gear in PF. So, unless we want to be fleeced pretty hard, I doubt we can sell it in time.

Tera Flinders |

Maybe we could get credit for it instead of coin? Or we could hold off on selling it until we get a chance to go to Magnimar, maybe find the Heidmarches? :)

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

Yeah... selling the dagger in Sandpoint does have its challenges. There's nothing in town that could use it and very little chance of finding someone to resell it to, and there's very few people who could even afford the 5400 or so gold you'd normally get for it.
You could shop it around and see what the best offer you get is; you could hand it over to the church and hope/trust that they'll make it worthwhile in time; you could give it to someone else in the hopes that they'll make it worthwhile somehow; or you could hold on to it until later when you might be able to take it to Magnimar or somewhere to sell it for more.

Tera Flinders |

I think we should just push on. We take enough bedrolls for us, a healer's kit, however many potions of Cure Light Wounds and Cure Moderate Wounds we can scrounge, and three days worth of food, as well as a wand of CLW if we can get it. Does anyone disagree with this?

Tera Flinders |

Okay, I haven't been keeping track of what we have as far as gold goes, so this may be too expensive, but I was thinking
1 wand of cure light wounds (750 GP)
5 potions of cure light wounds (250 GP)
2 potions of cure moderate wounds (600 GP)
1 healer's kit (50 GP)
Which is a grand total of 1650 GP. I'd say we also go with that priority too, so the wand, then the potions, then the healer's kit.
Assuming we can get all of that, our equipment list for this venture is as follows.
5 bedrolls and blankets
15 days worth of trail rations (enough for five people for three days)
1 wand of cure light wounds
5 potions of cure light wounds
2 potions of cure moderate wounds
1 healer's kit
Any additions or changes? If not, let's get this game back on track! :)

DM Nate |

I didn't search to be sure but I think you each got 50g from Aldern and have found a total of like 38g total along the way... so far the bulk of your treasure has come from the church (masterwork weapons and armor) and the Sheriff (the magic cloaks and CMW potions).
