Filon Cen |
Filon will attempt to identify all of the potions on the walk back, using the task to distract himself from all of the destruction and the missing family.
Taking 10 on Craft Alchemy for a 21 on all of them.
---Later on upon finding the body---
Filon follows the others out to the sight where the man was attacked, somewhat silent as he reflects on recent events.
"We should cover the body before we hunt."
Filon takes time to find anything of significance on the man that might hold value to anyone back at camp while he uses the fellows cloak to cover him up, along with any nearby brush.
"When we finish our hunt, we should bury him. Let the earth take back what it has given, and give our final respects."
Filon then attempts to aid the others with following the tracks.
Survival: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9
But is so distracted by his feelings over all of the death and resurgent memories from days gone by that he can't focus enough, missing obvious clues.
Filon Cen |
Filon can brew up two for Radok at some point.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
That will get you back to camp at least. I am tapped out of extracts, except for a pre-prepared one of Shield. Speaking of which:
As they begin to move, Filon has a thought come to him and whispers to the others.
If this thing is as dangerous as it sounds. Maybe we should have a plan ready. Perhaps one of you can try to draw its ire, perhaps Betto or Radok? Or even Spot? I have another extract prepared that will protect you much like one of those really big shields that you can hide behind. Whoever is going to do so, can have it. Assuming we can't end its life before it attacks us."
Filon holds up the extract of 'Shield', offering it out to whoever wants it, adding in:
"It will also protect you against any Magical force Missiles the boar might happen to throw at you..."
Take 10 on Stealth for 14, assuming we are tracking it.
Izithrael Xar |
When Morde points out the trampled moss and thistleroot, Izit nods. "Indeed, the track of a wild boar! This one seems to pose a real danger! Must be a big one!"
Survival, guidance, to aid Morde: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 = 17
Zelik |
Zelik and Lola look at the tracks and try to help with the tracking
Survival Aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
They also look over the corpse "he won't be needing these and we will" he thinks to himself. For good measure Zelik also casts detect magic around the area.
From now on Zelik will likely leave some gear at camp I'll edit the sheet when I'm home
Radok Mokak |
Radok accepts the extract from Filon. While he trusted his fists to guard him well, magic could do many things he couldn't. Hopefully, protecting himself was one of them.
Radok frowns as the group looks around for the boar. He wasn't skilled with anything like tracking, so he could not help there. But he keeps his eyes open and his hands at the ready.
Morde Chai |
Morde quickly stops Betto.
"In his hole he is hard to get. BEtter to get him out. And beware of him charging!"
Morde ponders for a moment then continues.
"We could use fire to lure him out. Least I can do is use a fire arrow!"
Zelik |
He casts a quick detect magic when they arrive.
"Fire," The aging wizard says with a hint of glee in his voice, "what a wonderful idea. I can spark the arrow if you need me too and I will be ready to grease the pig as he comes out" He adds.
While not exactly greasing the pig Zelik will position himself 25 feet to the side of the entrance and ready an action to cast grease on the square 5 feet in front of the entrance if the pig comes out.
Filon Cen |
Filon considers using the bomb from the bridge before deciding that the damage to the tree roots would be too extensive and moves his thoughts on to other strategies.
"I would prefer not burning the tree down, or inflicting undue harm upon it if we could help it. Does anyone have any smoke sticks on them, we left several of them back at camp, unfortunately? If we could smoke it out, that would likely work well. Or does anyone have the ability to conjure any creatures? We could summon something in there, and draw it out that way?"
Izithrael Xar |
"..Er, well yes!" Izit replies to Filon in a whisper. "But it'd cost the last of my magicks this day. Why don't we be the bait? Perhaps make a ruckus of some sort to draw the creature's ire?"
Knowledge (nature) to know a way to lure the boar, guidance: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14
Filon Cen |
Knowledge Nature: 10 + 11 = 21
Filon smiles innocently at Izit. "We could be the bait, I suppose. Though don't boars have a particular fondness for Gnomes?"
"I do have some trail rations though. Here, Betto. "
Filon hands one of his trail rations to Betto. "One ration for a boar seems justifiable, and we wouldn't have to harm its habitat. I'll stand back, over there, and hit it with my bombs when it comes.
We should spread out in case it tries to run."
He then quickly scuttles off to the side, trying to find a good location to block an escape path.
Betto Calvus |
Betto grins and stands in front of the hole, waving the ration in front of him.
He shouts into the hole:
"Hey! You! Smell the grub, and come and get it!"
Held action to throw ration at boar as it approaches
Ration: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 6 - 4 = 4
Damage?: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Filon Cen |
Filon lobs a bomb as the boar appears.
"Watch out, it really is unusually big!"
Know Nature: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
To ID it. Curious, does my blightburn scar throb painfully at all?
Bomb: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 19
Fire Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
And then springs into action, trying to throw another bomb.
Bomb: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17
Fire Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Dc 15 reflex save for Half Splash Damage (6) if that matters. Second bomb will be behind the boar, for splash damage, if it has gotten too close to not hit allies with splash damage from a direct hit
Zelik |
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
As the boar charges out Zelik casts his readied spell. Grease coats the ground under the BOAR [ooc]DC17 reflex or fall prone[/dice]
He then conjures a ball of acid and slings it at the beast.
Ranged touch: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Lola takes flight and the aging Wizard raises his walking stick. He is off the the side but is still weary of the boar being so close
Morde Chai |
Morde nocks another arrow and let´s it fly.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 131d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Spot moves into flanking position and attacks the boar.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 141d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Betto Calvus |
Betto roars as he is gored and lashes back.
Move: Martial flexibility for dedicated adversary (animal), standard action: attack.
Fist: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Filon Cen |
I think Zelik threw Grease beneath the boar's feet as it charged.
With so many people about the Boar, Filon stops throwing bombs and instead fires with his Crossbow.
MWK Crossbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 11
Piercing Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Radok Mokak |
Radok strikes quickly, giving a clean one-two punch.
Brawler's Flurry 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Brawler's Flurry 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage 1: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage 2: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
DireMerc |
@Filon I did miss that. Quick RETCON.
boar reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
When the boar came out it slipped and fell. Radok first swing would then have hit instead of missing. and on it's turn it got up and gored betto. (provoking attacks for radok and betto)
It's nearly dead so depending on the AOO attacks it might be down.
Betto Calvus |
Betto keeps driving his fist at the boar's snout as it rises from the grease, aiming to break its jaw. His wounds have eased slightly thanks to Izit.
Fist: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
Morde Chai |
With a smile Morde seeks a sturdy branch and hacks it off.
Expertly he binds the boars legs so that he can be easely carried back to the camp.
Looking at the ring he sighs and looks at Betto and Radok.
"Makes more sense if one of you takes it!"
Filon Cen |
No Objections Here.
Filon surveys as the boar fall. He moves up and sits on his knees beside the boar as it is hogtied, offering up prayers and thanks for its sacrifice and for those that it had killed.
He stays for a few moments longer before rising, wiping his hands of the dirt and leaves.
"It's no wonder they had such trouble. This creature was impressively dangerous. In any case, this should provide us with food for a day and some."
Izithrael Xar |
Izit joins Filon in solemn prayer, also offering a few promises to return to the land what they've taken, threefold. "For now, we must stay alive," he concludes.
Izit's eye gleams. "Well, that ring might explain why the fellow was so robust! He was aided by the magic of it!"
Help helps Morde dress and bind the carcass for transport, claiming a few whiskers and teeth as spell components.
Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
