Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21(To look for traps and not just trust providence :P)

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

lol sunset, i let our DM roll if he feels there is a need. Of course gloin is moving at a rather prudent pace trying to see any danger up head

M Ifrit Bard 2

Utarah will hang back 50 feet from the door, not wanting to be anywhere near if a trap goes off again.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Leaving me all alone in the front with my beard left to dry in case something bad happens right Utarah? says Gloin with almost a smile.

HP: 6+? Dwarf Stone Warder Sorcerer (Deep Bloodline)

Riggar would be about 25 feet back behind Gloin in case something needs to get smashed to little bits.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

seeing Riggar and Utarah, Gloin winks at sunset: Beard of Steel i tell you, Sunset; Beard of Steel.

The Door indeed radiates an aura of magic. It is enchanted with a permanent Hold Portal spell and likely why it seems the door has taken several bashing's without actually breaking or showing much age damage at all compared to the rest of the ancient temple.

Sunset can tell that their are no mechanical traps but cannot tell if their are any magical traps attached to the door or around it.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Sunset looks from the door to her companions, "Well...there is magic protecting the door. Not sure if there's anything magical 'defending' the door. A hammer or other such implement would be best to try and smash our way through?" She looks to Gloin and Riggar to see which of them has a similar implement.

Next town/chance we get, we're hiring a professional to get through door and such. :P

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Spellcraft 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

No I don't think we can open that door the magic aura protecting it is very and i mean very powerful. That is maybe why the magic man wan'ts this temple. Anyone since that door has been sealed since ages. let's leave it alone and move on. Says Gloin has he walks away from the door toward the other un explored place.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Sunset bows to Gloin's assessment and turns and accompany's him into the rest of the dungeon.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Talking more to himself than addressing anyone.Yes we have to keep moving, we don't know when the magic man will sacrifice the poor girl

Hopefully the evil mage will try and sacrifice the girl after a suitably long, gloating monologue before the heroes. (^_~)

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

indeed, lets hope so that he is one of this villain that comes from The Bad guy's University where they teach you to respect that sort of procedure. :)

My my...we do need some rogues it seems here indeed

Gloin the spell on the door is indeed a permanent Hold Portal spell, However it can be opened from your examination with the correct name of one of the ancient wizards source of power.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Hey, I'm just following the Drawfs. :P

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Research will give us the answer, then again it was sealed for hundreds of years i think it can stay closed for a few more .... Lets move on (and if we really, really wanted to go inside we could dig a hole trough the wall. might take a few weeks...)

M Ifrit Bard 2

"I agree, let us move on for the time being. Rescuing the Shiek's daughter is our immediate concern."

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Indeed utarah, indeed

Then as the group moves further down the corridor.

[ooc]perception rolls
Utarah 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Gloin 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Sunset 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Riggar 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Utarah & Gloin notice runes that have recently been etched into the floor and up the walls and ceiling on part of the hall way. Detect magic does reveal them to be active and ready for some form of action, the active school of magic seems to be a strong Conjuration Spell.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

If we can keep moving forward avoiding the traps we do. and if we can't. then i'll take my waterskin and trow it (after we have all moved back a bit) at the runes in order to set them off.

Be careful everyone, there are trap runes here and here and there. pointing at the locations.

M Ifrit Bard 2

"Halt friends, see these runes? They seem recently carved and are charged with some sort of conjuration magic. We should try to disrupt them, stand back. " Utarah stands back 15 feet and tosses the gnoll's sword across the runes to see if anything triggers.

The waterskin and the Gnoll's sword do not seem trigger any of the runes along the corridor.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Sunset frowns, "Well...looks like we do this the hard way..." She says, her sword held ready and she looks to Gloin, Riggar and Utarah.

Okay, who wants to poke the trap?

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

The Dwarf with the Beard of Steel?

pff zap me oh grand DM

XD I would but thankfully it isn't a zappy trap j/k

As the beard of steel dwarf Gloin steps over the runed floor, they all glow alite, a sound echoes off into the distance of the corridor, and is quickly met with the sound of something large pushing down the corridor on many clicking legs. Once within sight however the group can make out a Large Scorpion moving with suprising speed in these cramped halls.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Well previously you zap me with a lightning bolt and now you want to tear me apart with pincers? I hope you are enjoying this.... :). Oh Well roll initiative for all of us... Since is a corridor and the scorpy is large we can be 2 in the front line?

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Do not engage it in melee,everyone take you ranged weapon. i'll hold him off. Sunset after it has attacked me, step in carefully i believe it has reach with the pincers.

Round 1

Standard Action when possible: Use (sp)Deflection aura (+2 AC / CMD to every one in 20ft radius) and 5ft sept to be in hand to hand with Scorpy.

Current AC 24

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Sunset nods, though she replies.

"We should move back slowly to where the corridor meets a previous room. Hence allowing more of us to attack it at once!" She replies with some tactical ideas.

Also shifts into a defensive stance and moves to assist in attacking the bug.

[Assuming we last long enough and can take enough 'five foot steps' backwards to do so...

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

you want to go around it and flank it, sunset? Its a great idea but is we allow it to move in a larger area it will be able to attack and rip to shred Utarah and Riggar. My aura of defense won't last long.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

"Just an idea. Lets kill this thing....Or hope it was summoned and the timer will run out?"

Ready and willing to swing steal. :)

HP: 6+? Dwarf Stone Warder Sorcerer (Deep Bloodline)

I can help deliver a couple good blows. But ya gotta let me near it first lads. Bring it on, I love I good fight. The mighty Gorum will help guide my weapon to crush my foe!

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Kill it before it kills everyone else Sunset. I could turtle on it all day long be since we have no range specialist it won't do. And Riggar, you not armored enough to go near it, it would kill you in mater of seconds. Trust me on this one.

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

Att Roll:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Dam Roll:1d10 ⇒ 6

Yay dice roller.....(¬_¬)

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Once sunset has attacked the creature, she can 5ft back, you can rotate with her, then as soon as you can you swing then 5ft back then sunset takes you place and swing. You will need to rotate. That way you can maximize our effectiveness. Hopefully the creature will stay focused on me.

M Ifrit Bard 2

Utarah fires a bolt from his crossbow at the scorpion 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9. "Be careful! Let us conserve our strength to take care of this creature."

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

You are wrong Utarah, this thing will tear all 3 of you apart in matter of seconds. Go full strength, Sing utarah, Sing. Those two claws and the pincer are deadly.

M Ifrit Bard 2

I must have missed an in and out of character knowledge check here. I didn't think scorpions were that bad.

Edit: I missed that it is large. Oops.

HP: 6+? Dwarf Stone Warder Sorcerer (Deep Bloodline)

Kurh'l, kaga 'th aznn our'h ponaththark azrt k'ata ur'h zhaazrhurrth azrt thrhannth kur waann k'ath waur'n poaazthk

in Common:
Gorum, give us all your blessing and guide our weapons and spells to fell this foul beast

Cast Bless

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Well We don't know yet how good it is yet but there are some visible clues to its strength: its Large and has 2 claws and a sting (so at least 3 attacks) and we know that the poison is brutal (from it's tiny counter part)

Nice going Riggar, be prepared to switch wits sunset as soon as she strike the thongs than re-position herself.

As the scorpion moves towards the group.

Will Saves
Gloin 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Riggar 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Utarah 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Sunset 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (20) - 3 = 17

and as it fades around the group Riggar is overcome with a sudden feeling of dread and fear as the Scorpion seem's to fade into each of you as Sunset swings and hits into it's misty body.

forgot to add the racial +2 bonus against spells for Riggar, but sadly that still misses the DC by 2, and sunset, that's two major will saves in a row it seems. O_o you sure you arn't iron willed?

However Riggar is under the effects of a fear effect and is currently shaken

19 / 24 HP ( Calistran Saracen); +4Perc; +4 Init;

As Sunset regains her balance after her swing passes through the illusion she arches an eyebrow,

"Well...if all this Mage has is illusions then in some aspects this fight will be a lot easier..." She offers...looking at her adventuring companions.

"Shall we move on? Or should we let people's emotions calm down after that scare?" She asks.

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

I hate illusions. Really hate them. Lets move on in a few minutes after everyone is ready to go.

M Ifrit Bard 2

Utarah starts laughing in relief "Well, it seems that if something is big and scary, odds are good that it's an illusion here! Well said Sunset, that is very true!"

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

When there is magic involved you never know. And it was of the conjuration school to...Oh Well better be safe than sorry

Indeed it was of the Conjuration School ;)ahem I shouldn't give hints

Though your friend is Shaken from the ordeal the passage ahead of you is clear, but a gentle sound of clicking can still be heard ahead as you venture forward. Do you wish to hurry forward or proceed with caution?

HP: 6+? Dwarf Stone Warder Sorcerer (Deep Bloodline)

Shaken with obvious fear but too proud to admit it, Le..let us get the he..he'll outta here before any..anythin' else come olong Riggar says trying to keep his deep voice from cracking under the recent stress. I actually only missed by one I get a +1vs illusions trait which makes it even that more frustrating lol

M Ifrit Bard 2

"Let us be careful, I can still hear something... somewhere. Does anyone else hear it?"

Perception Check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Human Hp 22/29 AC 23 (+8 Perc; +5 Init; Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6)

Well a detect magic on the trapped rune did give me the school... :)
