Dr. Lendaro |
Dr Lendaro nods in gratitude to Solaria, then joins Uran in examining the weapons as Solaria asks about them. "Mhmm. We'll take a quick look, but we should keep moving." His eyes follow the smiler who'd fled. "An injured animal, and who knows how many more."
know(engineering): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
GM Demonmoose |
Uran looks at the weapons. The guns are gunslinger pistols (useless to anyone except the gunslinger that made them).
3 gunslinger pistols
20 bullets and 10 doses of black powder
3 vials of soothe
mwk leather armor
mwk bucklers
+1 greatclub
+1 hide armor
3 daggers
Do you follow after the smiler through the northern doors, or go through the eastern doors?
Sarainy Malki |
"Hmm, mind if I take one of those guns? I've been meaning to look into this tech... Perhaps one of you could help me dismantle it at some point and talk me through how it works," Sarainy asks.
Taking a look from the east door then to the north she adds, "We have more pressing issues however. We should follow after that guy. Last thing we want is to head the other way and be attacked on two sides if he comes back."

Solaria Jesari |
Solaria nods at Sarainy, "You're right, lets move before the whole building is alive with our enemies. We should be a bit cautious, we could follow into trap?" she adds with raised eyebrows. However she follows the Dr and Linpul, knowing they are better fighters than she would ever be.
Linpul |
"We could fall into the trap, or go around the back through those doors and catch them from a different angle, might throw off their defenses a bit. If they are scrambling to defend these doors here, they might abandon other parts of the building."
Linpul points to the doors to the East as she speaks. Lowering her hand she taps on the beetle's shell for him to lift it as she scratches under a wing.
"Who's a good little... er, not so little combat bug? Good boy Tetsuda."
Linpul |
Pretty standard, everybody pick a door, move action to get to the door, move action to open the door?
"While I would hate to ruin a dinner party in this fine estate, I fear we should root out any trouble. Everybody pick a door and open it. Although, I might need this. Canis Sanguis."
Linpul moves to a door and raises her nose, trying to root out anything, or anybody as soon as she can focus her new senses.
Spell cast is Bloodhound. Next Round I'll try and find people in the rooms that we can't see yet if we need to.
Sarainy Malki |
Sarainy shudders at a thought, "If it's anything like the dinner back before, I very much would like to interrupt! And to put a stop to it."
She thinks for a moment.
"Or maybe that was your meaning."
I might not be around tomorrow, so if combat starts feel free to assume I use bardic performances to buff the party.

stealth: 14 + 1d20 ⇒ 14 + (8) = 22 while opening a door to not make noise deep within this place and explore and stay hidden if anything is in there, even if it is a fly I'm trying to hide from. though if the nearest creature is like 500 feet away, they would take a massive perception penalty to hear the door open
Sarainy Malki |
Taking some license here and presuming I see a similar thing to Rakdon in my room too... If his room is special, assume Sarainy enters his after hers.
Upon opening her door simultaneously with the rest of the party, Sarainy is overcome. The sight of the scene in front of her, and the stench of it, is enough to bring tears to her eyes.
"Just men..." she whispers to her self.
Then louder, calling out to the group, her eyes unable to pull away from the degradation she is witnessing, "Just men... These Smilers are men, like you and I. How can man fall so far?"
Tears openly fall from her cheeks. Her eyes transfixed on the horrors of the room.

"We don't have time for a thorough investigation, ring the bell, kick the door, ask if they want to buy some snacks or cookies or something, holler if you see people, move to the next one if you don't. Like this one, Tetsuda, defend. I also don't smell anybody, we should keep moving on to the door at the end."
Linpul points to herself as she kicks a door before opening it.
GM Demonmoose |
Rakdon doesn't sense any magic from any of the items in the room. The liquid and black powder are not magical in nature, nor is the blood.
Linpul and Lendaro see similar rooms, broken bottles, bones, blood, pink gel and black powder, each scattered in a stench filled room with bedrolls and metal formed into impromptu tables and chairs. No one is inside them.
GM Demonmoose |
You head towards the western doors, opening one pair of doors, then another and enter a strange room.
Well over a dozen large glass tanks sit against the walls of this oval-shaped chamber. The tanks themselves are semi-opaque with condensation, grit, and filth, but several of them seem to contain some sort of figure within. Each tank has a metal-rimmed door on its front allowing the contents to be accessed, and one tank to the north has been wrapped with several coils of rope.
There is a door to the northeast, and a strange lever partially covered with dried red ink. Beside it is written in common and red dried letters, "Release."
Dr. Lendaro |
Dr Lendaro's wheels start to turn regarding the Smiler's use of this room, but... "We should continue... we can return to investigate after our current task is complete." He heads for the northeast door, and looks it over before opening it.
is the lever with the door or the tanks?

Thera Flidais |
Thera frowns uncertainly, looking at the figures in the tanks and attempting to identify them. While she has a fairly good idea as to why smilers might be keeping figures locking away, she nevertheless asks quietly "Shouldn't we release what's locked away?" not altogether certain to abandon them, even if it was just temporary.
Sarainy Malki |
Eyes still bloodshot, Sarainy replies to her.
"If these things are trapped in there, we should free them I agree."
If no one objects
Sarainy ensures everyone is ready in case these things attack, and pulls the lever.

Exhaust releases from all of the tubes, and the glass slides away.
The roped tube remains closed.
Humans fall out of the tubes, wearing leather armor and carrying greatclubs. Their heads are shaved and bloodied stitching is on the sides of their heads.
They start to moan as they stand up, drool sliding down their faces as they stare through you.

GM Demonmoose |
Feel free to post ahead of time if you want, as this is not a difficult encounter.
Uran's shot strikes one of the creatures, and it doesn't make a noise as the bullet penetrates its flesh. It doesn't seem to flinch at all.
Thera delivers two quick, hard punches into the human's gut and face and it drops the greatclub and drops back against the tube.
Lobotomite (5, south of Uran).
Sarainy and Rakdon's turn.
Sarainy Malki |
"Can you talk? Are you of sound mind?"" Sarainy asks of one of them?
Unsure and cautious, she draws an arrow back in her bow, pointing it at the person, keeping her distance.

The human stares straight at Sarainy, and moans softly. It shakes and leans towards her with its greatclub motioning to swing it. Sarainy fires an arrow at the creature, firing it into its thigh.
The human doesn't make a sound as it is wounded.
Rakdon fires a glob of acid at the western lobotomite. The acid splashes right above its head.

Dr Lendaro moves against the wall near Thera, and fires on the abomination nearest Solaria.
"Though I could stand for a little more gratitude."

The lobotomite near Tetsuda falls backward slamming its head against the back of the tube. It doesn't make any noise except for a soft wheeze. Lendaro's bullet punctures very closely to the creature's heart. As the blood leaks out from the wound, the creature continues to stand and move, giving a soft moan in response.

"I was thinking more along the lines of why did we release them now. We have enemies laying a trap for us in the next few rooms, we could have returned."
Her hammer sweeping the legs out from one she points to it for Tetsuda to bite.
"That one, get it Tetsuda."
GM Demonmoose |
The nearby lobotomite swings at Sarainy as she fires her arrows, but the bard dodges out of the way. The two shots strike the lobotomites stomach. As she speaks, the human's eyes seem to leak as its eyes focus on Sarainy for a moment, then back to seeing through.
There's nowhere to five foot step without getting attacked for Sarainy.
Greatclub: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 131d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
