The laser rifle is timeworn with 8 charges remaining.

Dr. Lendaro opens the door and sees:

Old wooden benches line the west and east walls of this large room. Two ruined metal tables sit in the center of the room, while a nook to the north is set off by a countertop strewn with bones and bits of junk. Two grisly chandeliers, made out of hanging bundles of skulls and bones, illuminate the room with flickering yellow flame.

In front of the countertop is a misshapen humanoid holding a greatclub, and wearing furs. He shouts as the doors open, "You leave now, or Gunshy break your face!"

"You tell them, freak." One of the Smilers says. "We'll make them look as ugly as you, hehehe."

Beside and behind him are two pairs of smilers with their pistols pointed at the doors.

You can look at the Smiler HQ map.
What do you do?

I guess the botting makes sense seeing how it was an established 'modus operandi' and I get the feeling we are perhaps a bit slow proceeding through the module?

Realising this isn't going to go peacefully, Sarainy begins inspiring the others. She uses their previous experience with the Smilers of Aldronard's Grave and the terrible things they saw there.

"These men are a blight upon the lands. We have seen their horific deeds back at the chapel - they gave no quarter and commited horrible and unthinkable misdoings," the words seem to take shape as magic, as a golden glow that spreads and fills the hearts of her companions.

"In the name of all that is holy and just, and without law keepers here... I say we put them down this day, and end their wicked ways."

Inspire Courages bonuses to hit and damage are competence bonuses which help since Tetsuda is immune to morale effects such as the saving throw bonus against fear. Granted he knows no fear becase he's mindless. Also, wayfinder hasnt perfected the minimap stuff so I apologize that I cant see it.

Linpul draws her hammer as she moves up to strike a foe.

"Tetsuda, defend Rakdon. Stay there and if something tries to attack him get it."

Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Tetsuda charges ahead, his mandibles ready to crush his companions foes but stays near the elf.

You are of course entirely correct. The save bonus is morale, and the hit and damage bonuses competence.

Lendaro fires at the smiler punching a small hole in the human's chest. He laughs as blood gurgles from his mouth and leaks from the wound, but he remains standing.

Technically no chandeliers inside a technologically advanced medical facility but whatever... Need at least 10 to hit anything.

Rakdon sees a strange hanging object over the room, a grizzly looking thing made of twisted bones and glowing with greenish magic. He fires at it and misses.

Using Wayfinder, so can't see the maps. Is the room you described above with the bone chandeliers with yellow flames a different one to where Landaro and Rakdon are?

If so what's in the room closest to me?

It is the same room, Sarainy. Added bone chandeliers because of Rakdon.

Two of the smilers fire at Lendaro, two of them fire at Thera, and the ugly humanoid creature moves close to the doctor and swings his greatclub in a vicious arc. Doctor Lendaro feels the large club strike his face and chest, the room spins, and he has to shake his head to see properly. One of the bullets catches Thera in the thigh.

They hit me from that far away? Also, did they misfire or are these, idk, laser weapons. I admit to not being up to date with the more recent gunslinger weapons so my knowledge is sadly lacking

Ah well, if hes 20 feet away then I can move to him, and punch him in the face, which I will do.

I guess they are using the second increment of range, so it is versus your armor class instead. If they were within 20 feet, it would be versus your touch ac. The smilers are 30-35 feet away behind a long counter, but Gunshy is 20 feet away.

Thera moves up and swings at the strange looking humanoid. Her fist connects with its chest, but Gunshy is too focused on the doctor to take notice.

Taking aim at one of the smilers with a gun, Uran fires a blast from his own weapon.

Attack-ranged-touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

This is the first round, just rolling in Rakdon and Lendaro into it, to speed things up a bit.

11 + 7 = 20?

Linpul moves behind Thera and swings her hammer at the big brute. She knocks at one of his kneecaps, and you hear a loud crunch.

Uran's bullet flies over Tetsuda, over the countertop and strikes the smiler in its non dominant hand. The smiler yells, "Dude, that was my cutting hand! He motions with his gun hand, this is the one you're supposed to shoot at."

Gunshy (31), Smiler A (0), Smiler B (7), Smiler C (0), Smiler D (0).

Also for future reference, since most of you are ranged, remember that your allies give cover, +2 or +4 to AC, to the enemy. I'll try to move you to better positions if you cannot see the map.

Sarainy continues her performance, using the group's disdain for the Smilers as a catalyst, as well as their godlessness.

"These men delight in the suffering of others, even themselves. Their sick and twisted minds shall no longer prey upon this region. Bring them down, until they submit or fall."

Addressing the Smilers in the back she says, "Why have you forsaken your fellow man? Why do you turn away from the gods and commit these atrocious acts?"

I must say, I'm confused as to how quickly these smilers seem to be reloading, as well as how they rolled 3 natural 1s and none of them seem to be misfiring / having a broken gun. Can someone tell me if I am missing something obvious, since I don't remember having it this easy when I played a gunslinger.

Female Gnome Hunter 6; Init +2; Per +13 low-light; AC 20/13 T/18 FF; HP 40/40; F +6, R +7, W +4

Rapid reload with alchemical cartridges, or just a pepperbox pistol, maybe even double barrels. A couple ways to do this, they haven't been moving so rapid reload would explain it although not the misfire chances. Misfire sucks when it bites you in the but.

"Tetsuda, that one, the one with the club, flank! Tauri!"

Linpul shifts to the side to give Tetsuda some space to perform her command.

5ft step, cast spell, Bull's Strength

At her words Tetsuda seems to bulk up a bit, his exoskeleton creaking at the muscles that grew beneath his shell. The beetle wanders around the ogre in a wide circle before placing himself in flanking position with Linpul and her hammer. He lunges forward, looking for a weak spot.

Tetsuda Bite: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 281d8 + 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (8) + (3) + 10 = 21

Ah, missed the misfires. But they have rapid reload so they can reload as a move instead of a standard. I usually just look at totals, so sometimes I miss criticals, too.

Tetsuda is not wounded at all. The smilers instead spend their turn fixing their makeshift guns.

Tetsuda rips into the back of the ogrekin pulling grey bloodied flesh. It falls down slamming nearly atop Thera.

Just going to quote what a dodge bonus is

Quote:
A dodge bonus improves armor class (and sometimes Reflex saves) resulting from physical skill at avoiding blows and other ill effects. Dodge bonuses are never1 usually not granted by spells or magic items. Any situation or effect (except wearing armor) that negates a character's Dexterity bonus also negates any dodge bonuses the character may have. Dodge bonuses stack with all other bonuses to AC, even other dodge bonuses. Dodge bonuses apply against touch attacks.

"Take the other ones down first", Thera requests, still reasonably confident her defence will hold against her remaining attackers.

With a nod, Sarainy draws her bow and fires off two rapid shots, aimed directly at the closest Smiler.

Sarainy fires two shots into the neck and chest of the wounded smiler.

The other smiler shouts, "F#!# this!" and runs through the northern door.

Everyone's turn. What do you do?

Sarainy draws another arrow to shoot at the retreating Smiler, but doesn't manage to notch it in time.

"Well, that could have gone better... But at least everyone's okay."

She steps towards Thera and casts Cure Light Wounds upon her, murmuring a prayer, "Blessed are those in Her light."

Cure Light Wounds, on Thera: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

"So what do we think, an ambush ahead?"
