-Warden of Nature Gnomes must often protect their homes against unnatural or pestilential infestations. Gnomes with this racial trait gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC against aberrations, oozes, and vermin, and a +1 bonus on attack rolls against them because of their special training. This racial trait replaces defensive training and hatred.
-Magical Linguist Gnomes study languages in both their mundane and supernatural manifestations. Gnomes with this racial trait add +1 to the DC of spells they cast with the language-dependent descriptor or those that create glyphs, symbols, or other magical writings. They gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against such spells. Gnomes with Charisma scores of 11 or higher also gain the following spell-like abilities: 1/day—arcane mark, comprehend languages, message, read magic. The caster level for these effects is equal to the gnome's level. This racial trait replaces gnome magic and illusion resistance.
-Keen Senses: Gnomes receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
-Academician Some gnomes are more academically inclined than their kin. Gnomes with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on any single Knowledge skill. This racial trait replaces the obsessive racial trait. (Know Engineering)
-Weapon Familiarity: Gnomes treat any weapon with the word “gnome” in its name as a martial weapon.
-Vermin Companion: At 1st level, a verminous hunter must choose a vermin companion instead of an animal companion.

This ability alters animal companion. The hunter tactics class ability allows a verminous hunter to grant her teamwork feats to a mindless vermin companion.
-Vermin Focus: Beetle +2 enhancement to Natural Armor. 5 min/day
-Nature Training: A hunter counts her total hunter level as both druid levels and ranger levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats, traits, and options that modify or improve an animal companion.
-Track: At 2nd level, a hunter adds 1/2 her level to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.
-Improved Empathic Link: At 4th level, the hunter gains an empathic link with her animal companion. This functions like an empathic link with a familiar, except the hunter can also see through a companion's eyes as a swift action, maintaining this connection as long as she likes (as long as the companion is within 1 mile) and ending it as a free action. The hunter is blinded while maintaining this connection.
-Swarm Stride: At 5th level, a verminous hunter learns to move through vermin without danger. He can safely pass through swarms of vermin and does not take swarm damage while within a vermin swarm's space. In addition, he is immune to a swarm's distraction ability. If the hunter or his animal companion attacks a swarm, they lose this protection against only that swarm.

History:
The adopted daughter of Khonnir Baine, Linpul Mushiha is clearly not related to the man by blood. Her parents were gnomes that lived in the Dragon Empires that returned to Numeria when they wanted children. They had changed their surname when they were married and brought back their favorite past time to the city. Insect Fighting, and they bred and sold various insects mostly to alchemists, wizards, and any who would experiment with the bugs, but their rhinoceros beetles were used for sport and a cheap form of recreation for children and adults alike. A poor sportsman lost a bet with the stores prize winning beetle, Tetsuda, and poisoned the water that was being used in the store. Linpul's parents would often taste test the water to make sure it wasn't too full of minerals before giving it to the bugs and were victims of chance, so her parents and the insects were doomed. Only one beetle survived the poisoning, and somehow grew from the tragedy, Tetsuda. Tetsuda had grown to the size of a dog and acted like it around Linpul and she has kept her devoted beetle around ever since.

After her parents death the shop was taken over and with nowhere left to go Linpul was gratefully taken in by Khonnir Baine who taught her much about technology. She is on friendly terms with his daughter as long as Tetsuda isn't in the room anyway.

Personality:
All things considered, Linpul Mushiha is a fairly cheerful young gnome. Always seeing the silver lining in things, as long as she has Tetsuda by her side she can rest easily. While she knows much about breeding beetles, how to care for them and several other animals, Lin has shown a great aptitude for understanding technology. While her practical skills in recreating the devices is lacking, her ability to work with, understand, and disable technology is astounding for someone so young. Khonnir must have seen this when he brought the young gnome in, and gave her an education in how to use the wonders of technology.

Bright and cheerful, Linpul is protective of her friends and knows that without risk there is no reward. She tries to bring her friendly face to any conversation, which can be detrimental sometimes. But sometimes the people who smile the most are the ones who have been hurt the most.

Description:
Standing a little over 3' tall, Linpul has crimson red hair tied up that makes her seem a wee bit taller. Her skin is tan with a tint of bronze that reflects how she has been raised.
A majority of any decoration or jewelry she wears is bronze and silver as a symbol of her faith. Her favorite colors being oranges and greys, all of her clothes are similar in color. A grey coat with brass buttons and an orange silk lining is her favored outfit. She also possess matching boots with laces that have been dyed the orange that she loves, fingerless gloves, a simple white blouse that fits underneath her armor, and a pair of brown pants held up by a black leather belt held in place by an orange belt buckle (the buckle has been painted). A pair of earrings made of bronze and a bronze and silver armband are the only pieces of jewelry she carries. After her adventure in scrapwall, Linpul has obtained a cybernetic arm, looking no different than a normal arm, she still has her armband, but the arm is decorated in a tattoo of a mask of Brigh on her shoulder, leading into a mess of clockwork and gears that spin and light up when willed to.

Tetsuda's hard shell has been morphed by whatever made him so large. The rhinoceros beetle has a shell similar in color to tarnished bronze flecked with bright orange and silver. He is a giant beetle, but if another dragon empire book comes out and stats up a rhinoceros beetle as an animal companion he may change with gm permission.
