Small Earth Elemental Improved Familiar 6

Pebbles struggles to his feet once again, bringing his spear to bear on the orc rolling in flames, then clambering forward out of the grasping weeds. Standing as a move action, Power Attacking orc brute 2, and taking a 5-foot step into I10.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 4 + 2 - 1 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 3 + 3 = 16

Just FYI - Vors' halberd is, sadly, not a reach weapon. Would that revoke the AoO, or will the Orc's movement still have provoked?

The middle aged fighter, definitely feeling too old for any of this business, continues his assault on the closest orc while avoiding the fire...

Power Attack on Orc 3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

...but he seems to be spending too much energy on battle cries!

Brookside Campaign Journal

Thanks for clarifying, Vors. That's my bad. Halberds are reach weapons in other editions and I was confused. I'll keep that in mind for the future but let's not go back and revise right now. Since Hirda had already killed that orc, feel free to take a different move and standard action.

Pebbles' attack finishes off the orc, leaving only the shaman and the bound orc left alive.

DC 22 perception:
The flames have begun to blacken the cords tying the orc to the ground.

Hirda feels a surge of morbid satisfaction as she fells the burly orc. Not pausing to triumph just yet, her gaze turns swiftly towards the dour-looking shaman. She prepares to attack...Aye, we need him alive if I've any hope of seeing my poor husband again.

Finish off 'at one yonder, he's aboot t' free hisself. We'll see what news we can wring outta Chief 'ere. Not caring if they overhear her plans.

The shaman appears to be shaken by Vors' threat.

Just waiting on Titania at the moment.

Titania's attack finds home as the pinned orc is unable to evade it, drawing a pained grunt from the orc.

Rally darts past her into the tent then emerges from the burning tent, yapping and yelping hysterically while dancing back and forth in the entrance to the tent, making eye contact with Titania and Vors, the nearest Brooksiders.

The pinned orc attempts to free himself from the blackening ropes

Escape artist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 but fails.

The shaman turns to Hirda, hearing her yelling and seeing her dispatch her foe. He summons a swarm around her and Pebbles while the swarm around Vors continues attacking him.

Vors fort against nausea: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Vors fort against poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Pebbles dam: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Pebbles fort2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Hirda and Pebbles resist all but the damage.

The shaman, freed by the burning, attempts to move away through the remaining web

CMB to move: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10

but is stopped in N9. The web continues to burn outward, both damaging and freeing him.

Sorry can't update the map right now. Hopefully the descriptions are clear enough.

Male Human Shaman (Witch Doctor) 7 ----- AC 19, HP 45/45, Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +12, Init +2, Perception +23

As Pebbles fall to the ground once more, Perrin calls out in alarm. "Guys? Let's, um, get away from these. Preferably now!" He moves adjacent to Pebbles while avoiding the swarm, spending another precious charge from his wand.

Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Healing Pebbles back up to 3 hp.

Pebbles scrambles to his feet yet again, lurching out of the swarm and toward the shaman himself. Standing up and moving to M10.

M HP:47/47 | AC: 15 | Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +4 | Init -1; Senses Perception +4 Warrior 4/Expert 2

Vors, vomiting heavily from the overwhelming disgust brought about by the swarm, does his best to move away in Perrin's direction.

No worries about the map. Any movement away that I can pull off will be great at this point. Is one square south of Hirda I11 or H11?

Brookside Campaign Journal

One square south of Hirda is H11 but will be very close to the swarm attacking her. Let me put up the map then you can indicate which way you'd like to move. Additionally, Perrin, now that I have the map up are you sure you want Pebbles to move to within 5 feet of the shaman?
He won't be threatening him with his longspear that way.

Updated battle map

Perrin moved through the entangle so he needs to save again

Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

but becomes entangled by the grasping weeds.

He still threatens with his slam attack, right? At this point I'm mostly just trying to stop the shaman from casting.

Yes he still threatens with his slam so that makes sense.

Got it - thanks, the new map helps. I'll move up to I4 then, next to Tess.

The stinging of numerous insects barely registers on Hirda's mind. She hustles over the rise, making an end run around the burning magical brambles to try and reach the shaman. He's not gonna get away, not while I have anything to say about it. No need to get stuck in this burning brush along with him, though.

Double move, with one square of steep slope, I believe that puts her at N14.

Titania sees Rally's jumping and runs to the Tent entrance.

Guessing a Lassie moment

Brookside Campaign Journal

Hirda, N14 is actually pretty far from the shaman. You can be perfectly safe in N11 as that part of the web has already burned away and the next part will burn soon but that doesn't affect you unless you walk into it.

Titania:
You see a grimy tent holding some sacks of flour and a middle-aged dwarf manacled to the tent pole and gagged who is grunting and struggling wildly. The burning tent has started filling with smoke. He stops struggling momentarily when he sees you and his eyes light up. Through the gag and smoke, you are barely able to recognize him as your neighbor Noln a.k.a. Nolly, Hirda's husband. You still have the remainder of your move and a standard action. Any actions you take inside the tent should be posted in a spoiler.

Tent:

Titania enters the tent puts her axe on her back and then aims to either break the tent pole to free him or break the manacles.

Brookside Campaign Journal

Titania in Tent:

You'll need your ax in order to do much damage to either object. The pole has hardness 5 and 30 hit points. The manacles have hardness 10 and 10 hit points. I'm willing to rule that Titania did not put the ax away given that she saw the situation at hand, if you prefer. Either way, I'm going to go ahead with the next round of combat outside the tent while you take your actions in here.

Smoke fills the tent. Your eyes begin watering. You realize that if you spend much more time in here, you'll have to be able to withstand the effects of the smoke.

DC 14 perception for Titania:
You notice the pole itself is sunk into the ground. You might be able to pull it up temporarily with a strength check, allowing the dwarf to free himself.

Tent:

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Putting the axe away should free her hands for a better grip on the pole.

Brookside Campaign Journal

Titania in tent:

Yeah that makes more sense if you go that route. Give me a strength check as your standard action after the baddies act, which I'm about to post.

The orc becomes enraged and desperate, attempting to free himself from the slightly blackened ropes

Escape artist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

but completely failing to do so.

The shaman keeps his eyes locked on Pebbles and Hirda while taking a careful, deliberate step away from them. He then keeps his eyes locked on Pebbles while attempting to cast a spell

Concentration check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

but he appears to stumble over the combination of words and hand gestures, failing to call forth his magic.

Brookside Campaign Journal

Only a slight sliver of the web remains un-burnt but it will soon crumble in blackened silk. One swarm of spiders moves towards Perrin while the other follows Vors.

Damage to Vors: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Vors fort naus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Vors fort pois: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

The swarm attacking Vors disperses after the spiders swarm over his legs, biting them.

Damage to Perrin: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Perrin fort naus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Perrin fort pois: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Perrin is nauseated for 1 round.

Updated map

Tent:

Titania puts the axe away and goes for a lift.

Str: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Brookside Campaign Journal

Tent:
You give the tent pole a heave and it budges slightly but you aren't quite able to lift it up out of the ground. You may retry next round if you wish. You still have your remaining movement for this round, if you wish to use it.

Male Human Shaman (Witch Doctor) 7 ----- AC 19, HP 45/45, Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +12, Init +2, Perception +23

Perrin shudders as the spiders swarm over his feet, staggering away down the hillside. Moving to L8.

M HP:47/47 | AC: 15 | Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +4 | Init -1; Senses Perception +4 Warrior 4/Expert 2

Vors shakes off the last of the spiders, pushes through the pain, and moves around the webs and tents, trying to close in on the shaman.

Probably ends his turn at O1.

HP(48/50) Saves(F:8 R:1 W:4) AC(15/10/15)

N12 is what I meant, N11 works too, thanks.

Ya done yet? Lay down now and it'll go easier for ya. Hirda follows the shaman into the burning webs and aims a hefty crack at his head with the blunt side of her pole-arm.

5-foot step towards the shaman and non-lethal glaive attack.

Glaive: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 4 = 5
NL Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Small Earth Elemental Improved Familiar 6

As Hirda and Vors move into position, the earth elemental dives beneath the surface of the earth. For a moment, the ground is motionless and calm. Then Pebbles bursts upward directly beneath the shaman, slamming into him from below.

Burrowing below the shaman and attempting to bull rush him straight into the air. If successful, Pebbles will continue moving upwards into the shaman's space. Not sure how you want to handle this in terms of falling damage and/or knocking him prone, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Bull Rush: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 19

Brookside Campaign Journal

Beat his cmd but not by enough to send him flying up into the air.

Pebbles erupts from the earth, knocking the shaman off his feet.

The swarm moves towards the nearest creature, pursuing Perrin and swarming over his legs

Perrin fort naus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Perrin fort pois: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

but only slightly harming him.

The remainder of the web burns away without harming anyone else.

And greatly simplifying our map. Phew!!

While the brute is pinned, Rally's eyes gleam with vengeance at the smell of orc. She slowly and deliberately bites at his helpless throat.

Rally's coup de grace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Rally's damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1x2 for auto-crit = 2.

Brute fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 but Rally's blow only partially scratches the tough orc.

Titania:

You heave the pole up out of the ground. The dwarf quickly pulls his manacles out from under the pole before you drop it back into its hole. You and he exit the burning and collapsing tent, though the manacles are still behind his back and his mouth is still gagged.

Titania and a manacled and gagged dwarf exit the flaming tent.

Updated map

DC 22 perception for everyone but Titania and Hirda, who may view the spoiler without making a check:

Through the smoke and the grime and gag on his face, you recognize Noln, Hirda's husband.

Hirda is overjoyed to see her husband alive, but doesn't allow herself to be distracted from the task at hand. She yells at Noln: Oy, sweetie, jus' hang on a minute n' I'll be right there! She then drops her weapon and launches her not inconsiderable bulk at the orc shaman, attempting to topple him back down to the ground.

Male Human Shaman (Witch Doctor) 7 ----- AC 19, HP 45/45, Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +12, Init +2, Perception +23

The spiders flood toward Perrin once more, but he ignores them, striding swiftly toward the shaman and giving a nod to Pebbles as he passes. Moving to P7 and casting guidance on Pebbles.

Orc Shaman wrote:
