I've been swamped prepping for an old school Shadowrun game for some old friends. I'm getting caught up and should have a post up soon.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Sweet, no pressure though. The pace of this campaign has been miles above what I had expected when I first started it up. We've already easily passed the post count of games I've been in for half a year longer than this one.
Pretty impressive stuff, I'd say.

Regarding Marleyna's look:
I imagined that I take back Marleyna's hair - I understood the description so that she had particularly beautfiul eyes and that her hair was relatively short. I thought half from the top, half from the sides, so that it overlaps slightly behind the ears. a bun behind her head with a few fringes hanging out. And to veil that her hair is short and the bun is not really much of a bun the flower on top of it. If we then use a bit coal for eyelines it might look good. However, with a shoulder free dress and her hair taken back she needs to wear something around her neck.
Applying a bit of coal dust with a twig as eye liner might make the whole thing look perfect.
I don't want to make Marleyna feel like she was our dress-up doll however. Calwen is only suggesting and showing options and doing her best to make her feel comfortable. If she prefers her hair differently, maybe something asymetric or a few pony fringes or relatively open with an alice band to keep it behind the ears Calwen will do that as well.

Hmmm... Sebastian, you do realize a lot of the things you sum up were discussed when we were still there? Maybe it was intentional, but it does not occur to me that way.
"The Lupescus are edgy folk, with the cold-eyed girl Shel having a knack for cruelty. But they have the down home charm to play nice in front of the mayor." He sighs and continues. "Makes me wish Calwen hadn't darted off to make nice with them. But it is what it is. I'll trust in her thought process."
Bacarov puffs at the pipe and brings out his notebook, making notes as he talks. "Looks like there's a strange family named Dogwood up passed where the mayor lives. They're friends with that charming ferryman, Skender Cardzi, we met earlier. Seems most around here give them a wide berth. Might be worth a look."
"Then there's the mayor Andretti." Bacarov makes a note back on a precious page then continues. "Apparently he's not ill, but deservedly distraught over the death of his wife. She hanged herself, rumors are it was due to her not being able to have children..." He pauses, a twitch at his cheek. "...not sure on that one. But at face value, Mayor Kreigler is a widower. By Viorec's account he's a friendly sort, even been charitable to their family and earned their loyalty."
All from this post:

Read the middle of the post you cited the girls departed in the middle of the description. Bacarov is just summing up because he (I) didn't recall when they left and he's trying to be thorough. Hence the end of the post where he looks to the others to see if he missed anything. He's also jotting this stuff into his notebook.
I'll start including ooc entries with my posts so there's no misunderstandings.
Calwen Snowpaw |
Oh, regarding OOC comments:
The "conversation" with Shel is not meant as such a bombardment with an extensive monologue either, I just don't want to delay the game more than necessary.
In the case above comments would probably be futile, sometimes misunderstandings are bound to happen, regardless how well commented the posts are, especially with overlapping time lines.

Sweet update. I was actually starting the process of adding names to the buildings based on the post descriptions. Thanks for doing the work, boss.

If only you all knew the horrors of trying to find and learn a photo editing program for the once-simple purpose of labeling a map!
I weep for those halcyon days when I had Photoshop.
I could ask the lady to do it for me, but she's too busy designing insane maps for her own campaign. She's so good at it I've been tempted to ask her to design a few dungeons for me, but seeing as how she's playing in said campaign, that doesn't bode well for spoilers. :\ I can't be like, "Hey, I need a cool breeding hive for this floating Aboleth weapon-city," or "I need a complex series of interlocking ring-shaped walkways to circle around this interdimensional gateway device that also functions as its cooling system" without her, y'know, knowing that there's a floating Aboleth weapon-city or interdimensional gateway coming up, which often leads to me hand-drawing a bunch of really ugly hallways and rooms way more generic than I would like.
This is on my mind as I am currently in the process of trying to design a huge prison complex built by Axiomites and policed by Inevitables to hold dangerous beings of Chaotic alignment, which the PCs will have to infiltrate and extract a prisoner (a powerful frenemy wizard's old familiar) from in tomorrow's session. I think my ambition outweighs my ability to map out such a thing by a pretty enormous margin.
Lamenting of my lack of image-editing and map-making skills now over. :<

I wrestled with that same problem for a long time as a DM on these boards. My current "solution" is to have no map at all, which is slightly easier when you use the Dungeon World system I use, but still not ideal.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
I can get maps easily enough if I'm running from a module or AP, or if I can find a public-use one that resembles what I'm looking for (like in that first combat we ran).
All my live games are homebrew, though (aside from running a module for the occasional one-shot), which means I have to draw 'em there.
On the other hand, since that last post I've managed to put together a pretty neat layout for this crazy prison for tomorrow. I may or may not be copying Azkaban a little bit, but hey, what works works!

holy cow man a thing like that would be worse than the Deathstar.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
It's quite similar, actually, as the abolethic city has an enormous built-in cannon that is capable of leveling an entire city-state. And they also have an experimental bomb designed to kill deities housed within.
I'm dreaming big with the final sequence of that campaign. :D
Dalton the Thirsty |
That sucks man! :(
I have news too, though it's not bad news like yours. I'm not as celibate as Dalton is, and I have beget a child with my lady. She's due in April...we, uh...missed her first two trimesters somehow. Found out two weeks ago.
Dalton the Thirsty |
It's like writing with a pen for long periods of time, Budd: you gotta not press down so hard! :P That being said I would post very rarely if a phone was my only option. Keyboarding is so much better...
And Vinnie: I expect that to be the case. It's kind of overwhelming, because she wants to move out of her apartment and she needs me to move in with her because she's moving out of her sister's apartment where they had been roommates, because she wants the baby to be closer to the rest of her family, mother/father etc...it's complicated.
Once the tumult dies down I'm sure it'll all be worth it. Just need to take it one day at a time.
Sebastian Bacarov |
Congrats Mr Dalton. Amen to the one day at a time too. The long haul is hard to see when the speed bumps keep coming. It's going to be worth it all though!
As for posting mediums, I'll fall down on the other side of the argument. I post exclusively from my phone. All my posts are written in Google docs where I can take my time and edit (and re-edit) until I like what's there. Then I cut and paste it into Paizo. I'm on an old Note 2 so the screens pretty big and the stylus pen makes writing pretty easy. Hell, I even write all my posts and compose game materials on the blasted thing. For my desktop, I only really use it for video editing and Roll20.
Again, just my 2 cents. Mr Budd, if you're looking to post for anextended period on your phone, definitely do the write up on your native word processor or perhaps Google docs. It'll save you from the hair pulling and banshee wails should Paizo eat the post you just sent 2 hrs writing. ;)

I hate phone writing.
The keyboard mine came with (can't trust keyboard apps/customs due to security with keyloggers) is awful and way too small. Also there are 3 symbol pages... which on the last page replaces the switch symbol page button to talk into Mic button.
Its pretty awful.
Also grats stranger. Know its not much but hey!
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Blech, didn't get a chance to post today. I'm hoping to get a better solution together soon so I can get back to posting more regularly.
Not having access to my computer kinda sucks, since I can't access the module itself. :\
Sebastian Bacarov |
Not sure if it's too late for this, but do we still want to ask the mayor fir a place to stay in his house? Because of the odd exchange, Bacarov didn't press that topic. I should have done a whole 'he meets eyes with the rest of the group to be sure, then asks the mayor...'
Thoughts all?
Warshawski |
We need to be at a place where the walls don't potentially have ears. No. We won't be staying with the mayor. Bad idea.
