In case anyone cares to read my RAW evidence to support native Outsiders keeping their weapon proficiencies:

I finally found the bit of text that made me think that the "Outsiders without racial HD do not get weapon proficiencies" was a way of ret-conning rules in order to create perceived balance.

On page 297 of the Bestiary, Section 2: Add Class Levels, last two sentences sentence of paragraph 2 reads as follows: "If the creature possesses class features (such as spellcasting or sneak attack) for the class that is being added, these abilities stack. This functions just like adding class levels to a character without racial Hit Dice."

I interpret this plainly: A. simple/martial weapon proficiency is a class feature granted to Outsiders that stacks with levels in a class, and B. (inversely stated) adding class levels to a character without racial Hit Dice is just like adding class levels to a creature with racial Hit Dice. Either way, weapon proficiencies granted by creature type stack with class levels, unless errata changes either this passage, the text of the Outsider type, or the individual races' descriptions. I would prefer systemic change if the Devs truly feel this is a balance issue. Until then, in my games the RAW stay intact in that regard, as it makes sense to me.

And most telling as to the design's original intent, is the Outsider text on page 309 of the Bestiary. Weapon/armor proficiencies are listed under Traits, not above the traits section where the rules for HD-based statistics are derived. The Traits clearly do not get negated by taking class levels, regardless of Hit Dice (or lack thereof). These creature type traits are not replaced by their racial traits. Their racial traits are in addition to their Outsider traits, just like any other Outsider's individual racial traits are in addition to their Outsider traits.

"Enough of these serious-minded side treks. We need to keep the show moving along, yes? Intern! Intern, go get the sneaky fellow from Direct Connect to meet me in Soundstage 1 in 25 minutes. He still has to plug the new Cherry Health Tonics from their team's sponsors."

Karl demonstrates his signature move by beating his head with the flats of his shorts swords and yelling—a truly dazzling display of intimidation.

I like sports. Favorite sport is keg toss. Is where you throw keg. Throw keg furthest and win prize. Also. Maybe I not have too many brains, but is good at magics!

Karl demonstrates by using his wands to heal the nicks and bruises he inflicted on his head.

I wish I be most famous wizard killer: the mighty AM BARBARIAN with his trusty steed Batty Bat! But I too level-headed. No get angry like barbarian. Better at sneakin' and magickin' though!

Jun Yu desperately tries to meditate but cant help snickering and then coughs politely.

Having finished with his...relaxation in the backstage area Yark comes out and does the interview. You notice his body is covered in what you hope is sweat and there are bite marks all over his chest and neck.

For my finishing move the scar on my eye lights up and I store my strength for one final devastating blow with my axe. Piss me off and I may demonstrate it for you.

In my spare time I like bare knuckle fighting and wrestling. Though I'm not very good at the latter, its fun to see what interesting ways I can make my opponent bend.

Yark snorts at the next question and just shakes his head. Just look at me, I have the body of a god He flexes his muscles and then laughs adding I can also cut a fetchling in half length wise, care to see that demonstrated?

Ponders the questions of the interview carefully. Signature move? He swings his scythe, Barrly missing the interviewer, and hits a practice dummy nearby, decapitating it. Soul Reaver. It sends the lucky one to lady death for their judgement. He snorts. Hobby? One in the service of Pharasma, Lady death, has no time for hobbies when your gathering wayward souls who try and avoid their fate! he grins toothily. I am worthy to be here as per my gods orders. Everyone here will meet their fate! Including you... he points at the interviewer, still grinning.

John Cross was taken so I changed the name to Jack Cross.

The cameras turn toward a human male of average height and skinny build. A mop of greasy black hair frames a long poach marked face with small, beady eyes and a small, narrow mouth. Blinking suspiciously at the mic presented by the Announcer Jack's shoulders bunch up as he gives his most charming smile at the camera, revealing blackened teeth and bloody gums. Blinking rapidly Jack gives his best performance of a likable fellow with smiles and shrugs, underlining it profoundly that he's not.

"Well, ya see ser, it's me mum, see. She's sick, like, an' I gots ta get tha gold fer 'er, ok? Ta pay tha clerics an' all. An' I needs me freedom so's I can be wi'h 'er."

Looking back at the mic Jack's smile falters as he looks up at the Announcer. "Nows I don' know about no signatures, ser, I can't really write proper like. Or read that good. But, I says anyone can put an arrow through a fellas back. Ya can't rightly say it was mine. I'm innocent, I tells ya..." his gibbering is interrupted as a guard yanks forcefully at his manacles. "Quit your lying ya bastard! Com'on, it's time ta see the quartermasters!" He says gruffly, dragging Jack off.

Half an hour later Jack is seen at the edge of the camera emerging from the quartermasters dressed in shimmering mithril brestplate of interlocking plates with a barbed vest over it, a half-empty pack on his back, a sword and dagger at his waist he strokes an intricately carved darkwood heavy crossbow lovingly. "Ah' think ah'll name 'er Jacelyn." he says to the camera as it zooms in close. "Now ah' jus' need ta see tha priest fer some potions." Frowning at the camera he blinks rapidly as he glances at something off-screen. "Yeah, ah said potions! Whats'ya on about, poisions? Ah' don' know what'ya mean!" Going red in the face Jack stalks off to find 'The Priest.'

Done.

"Signature Move? I charge hard, the pulp I leave behind is my signature. And what I do between matches? I enjoy the booze, and the ladies, both the silky and the scaled ones."

"Now geroff, I had a couple of girls waiting for myself"

I had to dump the ankilosaurus, too bad it was my favorite dino when I was a kid, but it wasn't possible for him to carry me into a charge. I took the arsinotherium, a prehistoric rhino. He is still medium, and has a s**+ty carry capacity, can I use it or should I go with an horse till 7th?

A *twang* is heard off camera followed by a *thunk* and an *aarrgh!*

As the camera panes out to find the source of the screaming it sees a group of guards rushing about, zooming in on a figure in their midst reveals a guard lying face down in the dirt clawing at a black-fletched crossbow bolt lodged between his shoulders. Zooming in on his pain-stricken face reveals it to be the same guard that was holding Jack's leash earlier.

Kicking up dust the guards scramble around, looking every-which-way. "Who dunnit? .. Watch that side! .. Where's Rikkon!? .. Hold still dammnit!" they clamor all at once. In the corner of the pane Jack can be seen out by the wall, some 40 feet away, holding his crossbow lightly, staring unblinkingly at the guard on the ground with a blank expression on his face. Seeing his face the camera changes it's zoom to fish him out. Catching the camera staring at him a flicker of fear crosses Jack face, shooing at the camera he turns and starts to head off.

The guardsmen seem to notice him around the same time as the camera as they come rushing for him as he makes to leave. A guardsman steps in front of the camera, holding out a hand to block the lens. Jack's protests can be heard over the din as he's dragged away. "Oi! Lay off! It was'nt me! I swear, ooff... Oi! No need for that! It was an accident, I swear!"

Medium mounts, as written, cannot be ridden by Medium characters. The bump to Large will not occur until 7th, I believe. Feel free to keep it as a pet until then.

The Announcer smiles at the banter of the anxious contestants, and mutters something about split audience reactions over Jack's little ruse about his mum.

The Announcer looks to Jack, as he's being hauled off to isolation, and states calmly, yet bluntly, "Be careful, lad, or the minotaurs'll show up. None of us want that."

I'll give it a couple more days for interested players to submit gladiators, but as we've got a fair number of you statted up, we won't have to wait until January, likely. We'll definitely have a slow period around New Year's Eve/Day, but after that, please commit to a post a day, if possible.

Will be posting a suave fencer type later today. I tried to resist getting involved in this one, but it just looks like too much fun.

Oh, you have no idea. wait 'til the NPCs, rival gladiatorial teams, and bizarre matches show up...

Can't wait!

The sound of crashing plates and breaking bottles attracts attention back to the waiting area.

Twang is standing beside a long buffet table covered with hors d'oeuvres, pulling on the tablecloth to drag food over the edge into his open mouth. Every single tooth is visible since the little green monster’s head has swung open on a hinge, like a mimic of a treasure chest. Then it slams back shut again, tearing apart food and utensils alike.

Suddenly, a toothpick-speared olive floats just out of reach of the little goblin. He jumps and snaps at the treat, which dangles on invisible cords closer to The Announcer. An attractive human woman with a shaved head and white dress stares at the distraction intently, the blue gem embedded in her forehead reflecting the glare of the camera lights.

Finally, the little goblin is in center frame, hopping back and forth as he tries to reach the food. He quickly realizes everyone is looking at him expectantly, and begins to speak.

”Me good with bow, good for hurting peoples far away. When they get close, me little enough to hide until I can hurt them again. Also me very smart, me eat one book a day to put lots of words in my head so I don’t lose them.”

Then the goblin reaches up and grabs the olive out of the air and points the food straight at the camera.

”My special move is to shoot big people in their big eyes. Then they can’t see me and I get a treat to eat after.”

The goblin swallows the olive - toothpick and all – and then belches loudly.

”One day, me be goblin emperor - made of fire - burning dogs and horses and mans and gnomes and anyone me not like. Then me take nap.”

*sigh* evidently my idea wont quite until I can be a seventh level cavalier as a T-Rex is only medium sized until then and while I COULD switch to something that would work the concept is really only fun if I'm riding a T-Rex lol.I shall work on something else and with any luck have a sheet up before it's too late >_<!

@Vidor:
Did you put your favored class bonus into HP or Skill ranks? Did you have any gold left over from your starting wealth? Remember (as I know many players overlook this) that mithral weapons are also treated as silver for overcoming DR. Please denote your non-weapon finessed CMB on the off-chance you ever need it.

@Zain Ashvale:
You could always create a small-sized gladiator and have a medium T-rex. Just survive until 7th level. Only requires surviving 9 successful matches.

Ok, I took an horse, so I can ride and charge, rhino statistics are there so I don't have to write them again at 7th.
By the way isn't that only 6 fights away?

@Announcer Yeah I thought about that but... It just didn't 'feel' right. The character I had in mind was a big tough but not so bright Amazon-Inspired woman astride a T-Rex. Switching to a halfling/gnome/ext just wouldn't work in my mind for the character. I have however completed my new concept. a Catfolk Ranger ^_^! Special Qualities/Class Abilities/Racial Traits:
Low-Light Vision: In dim light, catfolk can see twice as far as humans.
Natural Hunter: Catfolk receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks.
Cat’s Luck (Ex) Once per day when a catfolk makes a Reflex saving throw, it can roll the saving throw twice and take the better result. It must decide to use this ability before the saving throw is attempted.

Sprinter (Ex) A catfolk gains a 10-foot racial bonus to its speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions.
Favored Enemy (Ex) At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures.
At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.
If the ranger chooses humanoids or outsiders as a favored enemy, he must also choose an associated subtype, as indicated on the table below. (Note that there are other types of humanoid to choose from—those called out specifically on the table below are merely the most common.) If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger's bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.
Favored Enemy{Humanoid: Human}
Favored Enemy{Animal}

Track (Ex) A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow or identify tracks.
Wild Empathy (Ex) A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.
Combat Style: Natural Weapon
Combat Style Feat (Ex) Aspect of the Beast
Favored Terrain (Ex) At 3rd level, a ranger may select a type of terrain from Table: Ranger Favored Terrains. The ranger gains a +2 bonus on initiative checks and Knowledge (geography), Perception, Stealth, and Survival skill checks when he is in this terrain. A ranger traveling through his favored terrain normally leaves no trail and cannot be tracked (though he may leave a trail if he so chooses).
At 8th level and every five levels thereafter, the ranger may select an additional favored terrain. In addition, at each such interval, the skill bonus and initiative bonus in any one favored terrain (including the one just selected, if so desired), increases by +2.
If a specific terrain falls into more than one category of favored terrain, the ranger's bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.
Favored Terrain(Urban)

Hunter's Bond (Ex) Animal Companion - Small Cat (Leopard)
Hunter’s Tricks At 5th level, a skirmisher Ranger learns the use of hunter’s tricks, which typically grant a boon or bonus to the Ranger or a nearby ally. At 5th level, the Ranger learns one trick, selected from the list below. At 7th level, and every two levels thereafter, he learns another trick. A Ranger can use these tricks a total number of times per day equal to 1/2 his Ranger level + his Wisdom modifier. Tricks are usually swift actions, but sometimes move or free actions that modify a standard action, usually an attack action. Once a trick is chosen, it can’t be retrained. A Ranger cannot select an individual trick more than once.
2/Day
Aiding Attack (Ex): The Ranger can use this trick as a free action when he hits a creature with an attack. The next ally who makes an attack against the target creature before the start of the Ranger’s next turn gains a +2 circumstance bonus on that attack roll.

Special Qualities/Class Abilities/Racial Traits:
Scent
This extraordinary ability lets a creature detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.
A creature with the scent ability can detect opponents by sense of smell, generally within 30 feet. If the opponent is upwind, the range is 60 feet. If it is downwind, the range is 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at three times these ranges.
The creature detects another creature's presence but not its specific location. Noting the direction of the scent is a move action. If the creature moves within 5 feet (1 square) of the scent's source, the creature can pinpoint the area that the source occupies, even if it cannot be seen.
A creature with the Survival skill and the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Survival check to find or follow a track. A creature with the scent ability can attempt to follow tracks using Survival untrained. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10. The DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry's odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill in regards to tracking. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
Water, particularly running water, ruins a trail for air-breathing creatures. Water-breathing creatures that have the scent ability, however, can use it in the water easily.
False, powerful odors can easily mask other scents. The presence of such an odor completely spoils the ability to properly detect or identify creatures, and the base Survival DC to track becomes 20 rather than 10.
Low-Light Vision
Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-light vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to him as a source of light.
Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Hum de dum just waiting with anxiousness to start this game :)

Okay, i can't keep my mitts off.

Got room for one more? I have in mind a half-elf barbarian/ranger (skirmisher/guide) mix who is tough and versatile. Braegan Longclaw's the name... kilin' sh!t's the game. :)

Let me know and I'll throw a build up.

Corrected afew of the issues with this fella. CMB 11 as Agile Maneuvers straight replaces strength with dex. Gold left is 270. And favored went to HP.

Yes, late-night typo. Apologies. :)

@Mandra: At cursory glance, she looks good. If you took a variant ranger Combat Style tree, make sure to denote it somewhere.

@Eben: feel free to stat up a gladiator. I originally said 6-8 gladiators. So far we have 9 contenders for the team. I don't mind a little competition beforehand. And, if nothing else, you've got a back-up handy if someone dies or drops out of the game.

@Everyone: This game is going to be tactical combat-heavy, with ample opportunities for roleplaying your characters in such an environment on and off stage. Some off-stage behaviors may influence on-stage events, and the reverse. Creating rivalries, interacting with Arena Lords, referees, The Announcer, scrying orbs, Sponsors and their Sponsored Equipment, fans, trainees, handlers, NPCs, etc. are all going to happen.

Our contenders so far:

Jhock "The Reaper" (half-orc invulnerable rager barbarian 5)
Yark Flayschildren (orc invulnerable rager barbarian 5)
Dumb Karl (half-elf thug rogue 5)
Twang Slugbitter (goblin fighter 5)
Jun Yu of the Black Serpent (human master of many styles monk 5)
Crugonk "the Beaster" (half-orc beast cavalier rider 5)
Jack Cross (human crossbowman fighter 2/sniper rogue 3)
Vidor Varkony (human cad fighter 5)
Mandra and Khan (catfolk skirmisher ranger 5, leopard animal companion)

Waltzing around the arena like he owns the place, a dark skinned man with flowing hair and winning smile sees the camera and believes it is time for him to introduce himself. "What grand device is something that is like this!"he says looking at the camera with awe and enthusiasim. "In any case this not of much important. What is of luck for one's like you is that you are meeting me." Twisting the ends of his mustache a little he continues, "This place seems to be a place for fighting and I like to make the fighting and the winning. I am Vidor Varkony, fastest blade in all the worlds. This is not the first strange place I have found myself, I can tell you that! But, these stories might not be appropriate for the children or whatever it is you are calling the little things here. What? A signature move you are asking. Well i have never been thinking to have named all the wonderful things I am to be doing with the sword and dagger, but let's be calling it the "Oil Check" and this not something you will be wanting to experience I can tell you that!"

Looking around and winking at a four armed woman walking past he turns his attention back to the interview, "What is the "Oil Check' you ask? Well you see this dagger with its notches. Well I am catching the weapon with this one and twisting from the hand and when the thing is picking up its weapon I am inserting this one, gesturing to his rapier, in places that are not so nice." Becoming bored with the conversation he strolls off again.

Focused on disarming his opponents making them easier targets for his teammates, Vidor is at the arena of his own free will. Enjoying the thrill of battle the gypsy hops from world to world looking for the next great challenge.

"Huh.. I never really thought about having a real 'signature move' but I guess my favorite 'move' would be to have Khan here attack someone and knock 'em down to the ground" Mandra says as she scratches her companion behind his ear. "And then once they're knocked down I pounce on 'em and slice 'em up!" Mandra said making a point to display her recently sharpened claws.

"That's how I got my nickname so I guess it'd make sense for it to be my signature move" She says with a shrug already evidently a bit bored with standing there after only one question.

"My hobbies, we'll I like relaxing, eating, and sleeping, though I also really like just wandering around and just well.. exploring. Not in the whole 'adventure' style but just seeing what's going on and if there's anything fun to do."

"Well these things are about being the toughest fighter around and making the people like the fight right?" Mandra asked rhetorically while being a bit thankful that she'd paid attention when she'd been told what the fights were about. "Well I'm pretty sure adding me to the mix will spice things up 'cause I like to tear my enemies apart." Mandra said giving a wide toothy grin before realizing that she hadn't been quite specific in what she meant. "Er and I mean that in more than just like usin' my claws. I like to move around the fight and pick off the one's who aren't up in the front and then I go and tear up who's left. It makes things really fun because I they notice that people keep getting taken out they sometimes REALLY freak out." She said with a laugh.

"Uhh... Who would I fight... ermm.. I'm not really sure I'm not much of a reader so I don't know much about history. But I guess from what stuff I do know I'd probably wanna fight Caiden Cailen before he became a god. He sounds like he'd be fun to fight and if I didn't end up killing him by accident or something He'd probably be pretty cool to hang out with." Mandra said with a shrug, once the questions stopped Mandra shrugged and without so much as a goodbye wandered off with Khan to get some food.

Liberty's Edge

I don't think I can resist throwing my halfling monk into the mix here. Expect a maneuver master shortly as soon as I can get him statted up.

A halfling clothed in a dirty blouse and trousers walks in, sporting nothing but a sheepish smile. "'Ere in port fer a bit, lookin' fer some'in t'do." When asked, he'll answer to the introductory questions, "Ma favorite move's called tha halfling hog-tie. Good fun right there.

"As fer hobbies...I'm a sailor. An' not much fer one as me ta do on land, which's why I'm 'ere!"

Lol how can you be in port when we are in a different plane lol

Well, maybe the plane has some sort of dimensional-port!

Flying ships, Spelljammers, etc., are all appropriate means of reaching this place. :)

A tall, dusky skinned tiefling in a mithril breastplate with two cutlasses at his side walks into the backstage room. The chaotic din of voices and motions stop, as everyone turns their attention briefly to him. Some scurry out of the room, some look afraid, others spiteful. The tiefling walks up the The Announcer and whispers something to him. The Announcer looks to all of you and says, "Well, kiddies, looks like you're about to meat your team captain a little early."

Through the doorway walks a pale-skinned, raven-haired elven woman in charcoal-black armor and overcoat. At her belt are a number of sleek black wands and vials. The most striking thing about her is that she has a silver, gem-encrusted eyepatch over her left eye, and a wicked scar running from her left temple, across her nose, to her right jawline.

Her presence commands the attention of everyone, and the sound of the metal plates on her boot heels is all that is heard until she stops in the center of the room. She critically eyes those contestants present and finally speaks, right hand on a knife at her hip, left hand stroking her chin under her lip.

”You're all riff raff. Not much to look at, and likely never tested against combatants whose job it is to kill for their own lives. Those of you with military service, imagine a war without pause, potentially lasting years, with no respite, against special forces. Those of you who have not fought in wars, do not bother trying to imagine."

She looks to The Announcer, "Osz'k, is this some sort of punishment for last season's debacle? If they survive their first two match. A Monster Slayer match for their debut? In trapped ruins? Seriously, Osz'k, if this wasn't your idea, then The Producer has gained a cruel streak."

The Announcer looks momentarily shocked, but recovers with a smile and a flourish. "Madame Garrow, I assure you that this was in no way my idea. Kaliir convinced the Arena Lords to try out a new random generation method for choosing the arena, to prevent the sorts of things we ran into last year, as you alluded."

The woman's eyes grow large with fury and indignation at the mention of the name 'Kaliir.'

"If he thinks he'll pull what he did last year, I'll murder him in his sleep." She clenches the handle on her dagger, knuckles whitening. "Did you tell these sorry souls that their handicap may not be ready to aid them in time, and they'll be stuck with extra greenbloods?" With that she starts to walk back toward the door.

The Announcer's jaw drops. Right before the woman leaves the room, he manages to ask, "H-how, how did you know about that??"

She half turns on her way out, and smiles as she says, "Kaliir told me, of course."

The tiefling waits a moment, until the din of the room picks up again, before he makes his almost invisible exit. Seems everyone forgot about his existence until he left. As he passes the doorway, he double-slaps the top of the ornate molding, just to remind everyone.

I'm mixing a little in-character RP on the recruitment thread to get a feel for the contestants, and to give a preview of how the backstage will play out. Everything IC here will be part of the campaign's continuity.

A murmur of excitement starts spreading throughout the crewmembers, as they whisper to each other in their own language, about whatever's going on.

@Ebanadar: The concept is solid, but your profile formatting is a little chaotic. Also, how did you arrive at +11 CMB/+13 to grapple? +5 Dex, +5 monk level, +2 Improved Grapple, -1 Size = a CMB of +9/+13 to grapple. Did I overlook something?

Jun Yu begins to start laughing after the elven woman leaves his face breaking out into a grim smile. "Oh I like her. When do we get to meet her for real then?" He laughs again shrugging off his training clothes leaving his chest bared a large black snake twining about his body finishing with the snakes fang biting into the meat of his right shoulder.

Turning to the announcer or whoever looks in charge. "I wish to know how you will decide who makes the cut. Shall we train with each other?"

The tiefling smirks at Jun Yu's comments as he heads for the door.

The announcer replies "Oh, you'll see. It's rather unconventional, but we're trying something new." With that ambiguity, The Announcer walks off toward the dressing rooms.

A black-scaled kobold in a clown outfit walks up to Jun Yu and whispers too loudly, "You're all in the first match, see? Seems the Bonegrinders are no-showing, and Ezendra Garrow is right pissed off! Her, and Lieutenant... that tiefling fellow... and all of you newbies. Seems Kaliir is getting her back for last year, when she lost a terrain wager, and nearly the entirety of three teams died in the first half... Rules have changed a bit since then. ...Weren't you paying attention?"

A guard cuffs the kobold clown upside the head, and reprimands him, "Shut yer traphole, Miggins! They ain't s'posed to know nothin' about the debut games. You know that."

Miggins skulks over to the haphazard remnants of the buffet table.

Jun Yu smiles at the guard before pursuing the small kobold and he bows down to him and pats him on the back. I am sorry you were punished for my questions Miggins. I did not know I would get you in trouble. If you ever have something though come find me I will listen." Jun Yu smiles then and bows to the kobold.

Yark's jaw drops as the elf walks in and he cant contain the stary eyed look that comes across his face as she talks. Once she leaves he goes up to the announcer. What would I have to do to be able to spend a night with her?

"I am already liking what it is I am hearing this day! I look forward to be making with the death dealing." In orc Vidor says to Yark,

Orc:
"I would imagine it would take much more than what we have to be offering as of right now, my friend."
"Hahahaha."

The announcer looks at Yark with as much disbelief as he did the woman who came in.

A large number of people in the vicinity bust into uproarious laughter at Yark's words.

Higgins, mouth full of cake, shouts over to Yark, "Yu'd habve ta kell 'er husbunn, Kaliirr!"

The laughter starts up again, and a teary-eyed ogre walks by and pats Yark on the back with a chuckle.

Higgins looks to Jun Yu, gulps down some more cake, and asks in a whisper, "Sooo, you want to pay me to be your informant?"

Jun Yu smiles and merely takes out a gold coin and slides it over to the kobold. "I am always willing to receive help from those who offer it friend."

A feral grin spread across Madra's face as the woman mentioned that the initial fight would be a 'monster slayer' fight, she didn't have a clue on the particulars of how it would be done but the implications of the name were enough to get her ready for action as the monsters that they would likely be sent against would more than likely be quite fun to fight. The addition of trapped ruins just added to her excitement as it upped the risk factor and as well it was always fun to lure a monster into a trap. Mandra only barely took in the rest of what the woman had said as she began to imagine what sort of monsters she would get to fight.

As the conversation turned toward the first fight once again Mandra's attention was peaked as the Kobold mentioned that they would all be in the first fight. "So when does it begin? I've enjoyed exploring this place for the moment but what I really want is to fight." Mandra said as Khan butted his head against her leg and gave her a 'stop being so pushy' look to which Mandra just rolled her eyes.

Ah, you're right. I was trying to update an old version of him and must have missed a few things. I'll get it fixed up a bit better in the morning.

Jun Yu runs his eyes over the leonine woman for a moment before smiling widely and nodding his head in acknowledgement letting her join in on the conversation. He then turns his head back to the kobold dipping his hand back into his purse incase the kobold needed more gold.

Escorted into the backroom by two guards, chained hands and feet, Jack sports a bloody nose and a black eye from their discussion about the unfortunate guardsman who found the arrow in his back. Unfortunately the arrow turned out to have been poisoned so the poor guardsman soon lost his ability to breathe as he vomited his lungs out. Maintaining his innocence Jack was nevertheless given a hard warning in the form of fists, boots and clubs.

Dragged in like a sack with the two guards holding him up by the arms Jack meets the beautiful elf in the door. Giving his best smile and blinking his eyes as they pass he gets the feeling he might have too work on getting her to warm up to him, or even look at him for that matter.

Dumped unceremoniously on the floor by the guardsmen with a muffled *oof!* Jack is given a final hard warning as the guards unlock his manacles. Prostrating himself on the floor he nearly licks a boot in his groveling and promising to behave between his proclamations of innocence. Watching the guards walk off, after dumping his gear by him, Jack sits on his haunches and stares coldly after them. Spitting out a tooth he rises and gathers his gear.

Looking around the room Jack gives nods, smirks and *hey'ya's* to those watching him and makes his way to the buffet table. Gathering up as much food as he can hold in his arms and mouth he nods to the half-naked fella with the worm tattoo. "Hey'ya mate. How's it goin' fer ya? You catch that elf walkin' out? *pheww!* Now ther's som'thin' ta look at, eh?"

Can I have til early afternoon to get my submission in? I'm trying to hurry, and I'd love to post his entrance while the gladiators are all in the waiting area. :)

This is Eben… and my submission. :)

As Madame Garrow sweeps from the room, you all see her brush past a tall man in the shadowed corridor without so much as a glance. He weathers it without making eye contact with her or anyone else, waiting a few seconds after she leaves before hefting something up onto his shoulder and striding out of the shadowy corridor. When he's revealed in the light, he's quite a sight.

At over six feet in height, the man has the build of a very athletic human, the ashen gray skin of an orc, but the eyes and ears of an elf… or what's left of his right eye and ear. A horrible series of tears and scars run the length of the right side of his head, clouding one eye and nearly removing the ear altogether. His clothes are worn but useful, from the calf-length leather coat that seems to have been sun-bleached from a black to a dark gray. To the beaten but polished mithral breastplate peeking out from under his stained shirt. To the dark, heavy boots that track a thick layer of reddish mud into the room… something the tall half-blood doesn't even seem to be aware of as he trudges through the crowd. Peeking out of a simple looking quiver is the end of a bow and the handle of a falchion of all things.

Strangest of all, though is what is swinging from his shoulder as he strides towards the announcer. Like some odd marionette dolls, two unconscious, mud covered and blood-soaked kobolds swing with every one of his steps. Each one hangs from a wrist, which is clamped in a sturdy manacle, and each provides the counterweight for the other, one in front of the man and one behind.

He comes to a stop in front of the arena announcer, still not looking at anyone else in the room, "Right. I brought these runaways back." He crosses his arms. "I said I'd do it for a chance on one'a the teams…" You get the feeling this is something he's wanted for a while now.

So the orc thing is just for flavor, he's mechanically Half-elf. The crunch is in the profile. Hope you like it.

Ebe pays little attention to the lady who seems all too full of herself and amuses himself by silently observing the colorful characters in the room while absentmindedly unraveling and re-winding a length of rope.

numbers should be fixed now. If the layout's still to chaotic let me know and I can re-do it. It was just quicker to update this than start over with a newer template.

Jun Yu catches the eye of the halfling and silently bows in his direction recognizing a fellow monk though their attire showed a difference in styles.

Ebe grins broadly at the bare-chested man, wondering if he knows him from somewhere.
