An epic search for the Amethyst heptagon leads a party of fresh graduates through the northern reaches of Ustalav. Based in Karcau, the party visits places like the dark Castle Jarovich or the dangerous alleys of Carrion Hill.
Recognizing that Johenric does not have time to think about the complete situation, he somehow says:
Well Solaric, I can not estimate the odds, but we have to take a decision: either killing him or try to seek for an other solution with his help. I have the feeling that killing those three persons does not solve the problem entirely - by killing those we just stop the power improvements of Yog Sothoth. We need time to discuss the options.
Damn, this would be an ideal time to have the Assassin's Death Attack.... :P
Kirk slowly maneuvers himself away from the group, ducking into shadows and trying to slip out of Myre's vision and circle around behind him, drawing the humanbane rapier and preparing to strike, if necessary. He looks to Victoria to give a signal of some kind.
Victoria looks at Myre warmly. "We need to ensure that this Yog-Sothoth cannot reach you to cause harm anymore, BY THE STARS AND THE MOON I will deliver thee from damnation"
As Pitr slays the next Keeper of the Old Ones, Solaric takes a moment to pray.
"Almighty Inheritor, as your humble servant, I release the soul of the man, Rupman Myer to your care. Forgive us for any transgressions we have made in the killing of these defenseless men. However, we ask that in their deaths, justice and peace for all people of this land be achieved. Although we value life and goodness found within these souls, we ask that their sacrifice serve as justice for their act of summoning the evil Yog Sothoth into this land."
"In every passing moment, we ask that you continue to guide us in our every thought and deed. May we continue to work toward Victory through the slaying of the Heart of the evil that plagues this land. Guide us onward now in finding the third of the Keepers in our quest to bring peace and justice back to Carrion Hill. I ask this in your name. Let it be so!"
Solaric approaches Pitr and pats him on the back. "I know it cannot be easy for you to kill a defenseless man, but your deed in the name of goodness shall always be remembered!"
"So surly Johenric. Our fate is likely grim and our endings even messier, so it serves us well to have some humour, even if it is black, as it staves off the fear that might otherwise paralyze a person living with the gallows ever in sight"
As Savant bites deeply into flesh and bones, the monstrous entity behind you begins to sqirm and thrash. The moment Myre's vitae leaves his body, the Yog-Sothoth roars in pain and anger and disappears...most probably searching for his last victim.
From the front of the building Joskul jogs over to you
What happened? The whole vat-house is destroyed!
Noteworthy items:
Red potion
3 Scrolls
2 Rings
Spellbook
Strange looking, rusty key, with CHA embossed on it.
"For the sake of the world, I do hope the path we are going is leading to a happy end."
"Indeed it will, my friend! Although I admit, things outwardly appear most desperate with an evil fiend running rampant across the land, threatening to destroy everything we know and love. Not to mention our long term adversary, the Rag Man, racing to gain the next shard of the amethyst heptagon, and gain a power over us still. Without doubt I can tell you that we will encounter challenges that will push us to our limits. However, as a man of faith, I can assure you that in the end, the full glory of Iomedae will be revealed to all. You must not lose hope in the darkness, for the light does guide us step by step, little by little, until you will see that there is a greater power for good at work that most people are not even aware of. Trust me, my friend, the good will prevail over the evil!"

"To the Asylum now?"
"Most certainly you are correct. You know our task well, my friend. We must reach Waldur Crove before the Yog Sothoth does! Lead us there in all haste!"
"You have done so much to further our cause and bring goodness and justice to light in this land, your Grace. Do you feel that the Inheritor would not show mercy upon you in a face to face meeting in her almighty presence?"
Joskul nods determinedly and jogs back into the city. It's again the same toil to get through the crowded streets. Several times you are pushed, punched, rammed by a cow, or hit by a slow rolling wagon...
After about twenty minutes you have crossed the city and reach the looming western cliff of the city. A dark stone structure towers here and only a narrow path leads up to its massive iron front gate. All windows are barred and only behind two of them are faint lights. Heavy winds tear at your clothes and tossle your hair as Joskul shouts
That's it, the asylum, the most wrteched place in all of Carrion Hill!
Several rusty weather vanes creak and bow to the violent winds and you have seldom seen a place more Gothic than this.
"That is an ingenious idea, my friend. I thought that might have been the key to charisma, and I thought that if you took it that it might improve your charm." Solaric says with a grin on his face.
"You would think a great key such as this would fit the front door. However, perhaps you are right. Maybe it is meant for a side door. We have little time, so certainly let's try."
Solaric proceeds around the perimeter of the asylum going south in a counter clockwise direction. He is looking for any other doors or places where the key may fit.
At the back of the dark building, close to the edge of the cliff, the key fits and after carefully moving it, there's a snapping noise and the heavy iron door swings inwards.
Ha! Oh...uh...I'll wait here, kay?
Joskul seems not to be too eager to enter.
Peering through the door, you spot some kind of mess. A large table sits in the middle of the room and several chairs rest around it. From far away you hear the moaning of the lunatics echo through the corridors and the flickering light of the torches burning inside does not feel you very welcome.
Ugh, sorry about disappearing like that. Thesis work blindsided me this last weekend... I was literally spending every waking moment either eating, walking, or writing for school :/
Good thing Pitr came through for Kirk again :P and in more way than one! I'm glad the game wasn't held up.
Kirk slides into the room behind Solaric, keeping his orcish eyes peeled and bladehand twitchy at his side. "How many crazies are in here?" he calls in curiosity to Joskul as he remains outside.
Joskul pokes his head through the door frame and whisper
Crove has like a dozen...orderlies, and I guess about the same number of lunatics in here. I still can't believe he is part of this group of cultists, he was such a nice man, always tried to help...
As Solaric cautiously walks through the room, the southern door is opened and one of the orderlies steps out of it.
Even though he wears that cage-like helmet you can see the surprise in his face
"Well met, my good sir! I am Solaric Zekkaran and we are Karcau's Chosen. We were looking for Waldur Crove. Could you kindly direct us to where we may find him?"
Johenric standing behind Solaric has a skeptical expression on his face and says:
Sense Motive 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

How you be able to enter?
Well, assuming you are able to see through your mask, you know that the door behind us is open without being damaged. This means there are two potential explanations. But in fact does this matter? No. What matters is that we are here and we are looking for Crove. Now as I answered your question, where is Crove?
Hey lady, why dontchu do all the talking, you very nice! Crove is downstairs in the dungeon, and he does not wanna be interrupted in his studies. You can wait here, wanna have a cup of tea?
I posted this in the HoL ooc... but since we just got this thread up, I'll put it here instead.
I'm also going to be gone this weekend, I just found out. A friend offered me a free ticket and ride to a music festival this weekend really last minute and I can't really refuse. I'll be back on Tuesday, and will be around for another 12 hours or so.
Yeah off work til 6 June, but no strenuous activiy til at least the end of June. A bit disappointed as I was supposed to have a great activity coming up, and I also had a few sporting events to compete in.
Sort of gutted about it really...if you'll pardon the pun.
The trip was a slog into the cold cold winter in five weeks, carrying heavy loads and a fair way from proper help for almost three weeks, and the sports involve a lot of body contact, not really a good idea :)
Kirk is curious about the magical dagger we found, and once it's revealed he'll probably ask for it if it's useful at all.
Bonzo will continue helping to reel in Kyren, as will Donna, but he doesn't have any immediate concerns other than that. Donna, however, really wants to smash something to oblivion with her new hammer.
S'mores! 2 faves- use those dark chocolate topped cookies instead Hersheys and graham crackers or go all american with melted marshmallows on Oreo cookies : P
Sorry I've disappeared over the last few days. Got an exam this afternoon and I disconnected my network cable to stop myself getting distracted. I freaking hate revision.

Hi Zyren,
Have you thought about how the Tzarek tournament is going to work? When I created it as a skill for Kyren I invested 1 rank in it as a profession and made it a class skill for him based on intelligence. Kyren is +7 (+1 rank, +3 class skill, +3 Int). I certainly have not play tested this idea, but I was thinking about three phases to each game. Opening, Middle and Endgame. Each phase of the game gets a Tzarek skill check. Each check is rolled opposed by my opponent's roll. For the opening, every three points over my opponent's skill check grants me +1 bonus on my roll for the middle game. Likewise, every three points over my opponents roll in the middle game grants a +2 bonus for the endgame. Ultimately, the winner of the endgame is considered the winner of the game. This does put a lot of weight to the endgame, but it may be very exciting. The one thing I am not sure about is how to add the wager portion of the game. Should the stakes change as the game progresses, or simply keep the money out until a final winner is determined at the end? Feel free to do what you want, but these are just some ideas. Let me know if you have some other ideas.
LOL yeah, umm might be a bit underequipped for that kind of crazy :p
dmz:
Yeah he's been pretty busy with his study of late, and not a lot of game time etc... we were due for a tabletop session this weekend, now cancelled of course as I got a bit waylaid! I am feeling a lot better already, just the incisions are a bit uncomfortable, and getting used to eating as I was nil by mouth (no food or water) for four days as they flushed my system so just eating slowly and lightly
If its handy, can we get a breakdown of the unidentified loot so that we know what is still outstanding later? Just in summary format. I think there are a few items we have no idea about from the Count as well as possibly earlier?
I assumed Vic levelled up, so will do up the stats.
I have put a few skill points into he developing more along the Courtesan aspect (Proff:Courtesan) and (Know:Nobility) to reflect her growing understanding of matters of State etc.
I read the UM guide, and although I did like some of the stuff it doesn't really fit. Deception is still really where it is at for her so I saw no need to change.
On the other hand the party might find themselves more...gifted by Fortune...or is it the 'Devils Luck'? eh Solaric?
