Hana backs up a step, draws her short bow, and seems content just to plink at the slime, hoping that it can be stopped by continued application of force.

Doubting his ability to do much himself, Lawdrak concentrates, reaching out with his mind and magic for help. Sharpmaw remains at his side.

Sacrificing call lightning for summon nature's ally III and calling 1d3 ⇒ 2 small water elementals.

Lawdrak conjures a pair of elementals to fight the ooze, while the ooze continues to digest Savras.

Dereje's shot is finally enough as the ooze sloughs off of the badly burned tiefling and dissipates into the water.

Once the ooze disintegrates, Hana is quick to approach Savras, but she lacks the medical skill to gauge his condition.

"I think he needs assistance quickly."


Lawdrak will move to Savras and cast cure moderate wounds.

The Kellid druid rushes to the fallen tiefling's side and casts a healing spell. Moments later the the still acid burned rogue's eyes flutter open. "That was just f@~*ing horrible." Savras groggily says, pulling himself back up to his feet.

Hana stows her bow, then takes out her sword and examines it critically. She frowns.

"Such a vile, inglorious creature, and it has damaged my blade," she says unhappily. "I hope that this is not a repeat occurrence."

Nkechi makes his way up next to Savras and casts a healing spell on the tiefling. "Can't have you dying just yet." the shaman says.

Ready to continue deeper into the mine?

Note: I had the map scaled wrong on the previous fight, my apologies. The map has been changed to the scale it should be on Roll20 now.

You continue on deeper into the mine, doing your best to stay out of the briny water, well everyone except Hana - who seems at home in the salty water, anyway.

Traveling another two hundred feet or so deeper, the mine shaft turns sharply to the right, revealing a wider chamber and another bridge across the water.

Just to your right, you see the scattered remnants of a small campsite in a small alcove, just above the water line.

"Someone's been here," says Hana, hand resting once more at the hilt of her sword. "Let's check the campsite."

Estietre treads a few inches above the water's surface, and takes a good look around - scanning the surrounding area with her illuminated brooch for hidden dangers.

Since she can see in the dark, and can swim, Hana takes the risk of descending slightly into the water to head toward the alcove - though she keeps an eye out for anything that might try to swim up and bite her.

Lawdrak will move ahead a bit, sling loaded, ready to support Hana.

As Hana moves forward to investigate the abandoned campsite, two obviously dead creatures emerge from underneath the rickety bridge, intent on feasting on the samurai-ko's flesh.

Lawdrak, you can fire you sling in the "surprise round" as you said you were at the ready.

These creatures are wights, though it seems that the prolonged exposure to the salt in the mine has altered them in some way.

Hana steps partway into the water - no great difficulty for her - and draws her katana in a flash. She lets out a terrifying kiai as the blade whips through the air with frightening speed.

Swift action: Challenge blue creature. 5' step, full round action: iaijitsu strike.

Iaijitsu strike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Katana damage, challenge, iaijitsu strike: 1d8 + 4 + 5 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 5 + (2, 3, 1) = 19

This makes my AC 13 vs. blue and 15 vs. red, but I get DR 2/- against blue.

"Be careful, Lady Mizu, don't let it touch you!" Dereje warns urgently, recognizing the undead creatures. The paladin rushes ahead of the group and steps across the rickety bridge. Murmuring a prayer to the Master of the First Vault, he draws his pistol and smites the wight with a holy bullet.

Dereje spends 1 grit to use his smiting shot deed.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Lawdrak pelts one of the wights with a stone, while Dereje blasts a sizable hole in the same.

Meanwhile, Hana cuts a deep gash into the other undead monstrosity.

Savras hurries across the water and onto the somewhat dry land of the campsite.

Lawdrak, you still have your round 1 action.

Lawdrak Sling (Round 1) @ Blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Lawdrak loads up his sling again, hurling another stone toward the blue clad wight, cracking the creature right between the eyes and dropping it.

The remaining wight claws at Hana, tearing her flesh as she feels the moisture leaving her body, almost like the wight is drawing it out of her.

Hana takes 4 damage and needs to make a DC 14 Fort Save or take 1d3 ⇒ 2 Constitution damage.

Wight: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Hana just misses with her slash, while Mum singes the creature with a small bolt of positive energy.

Dereje loads up and takes aim, blowing the creature's head clean from its shoulders.

Searching the abandoned campsite you find three mine carts, various mining equipment, the desiccated remains of three mules, and a rusted iron strongbox.

Hana wipes down her sword and replaces it in its scabbard. "Not much here. I wonder if those undead were the remnants of someone who died here."

"Have we any way to open this rusty strongbox?"

Savras says, "I can have a go at it, although as badly rusted as that lock is it would probably be tricky even if we had the key."

Fiddling around with the lock for a while, the tielfling thinks he almost has it, but then can's seem to trip the last tumbler of the lock.

"Can it be opened magically, perhaps?" asks Hana. "Otherwise we either have to break it open and risk damaging the contents, or carry it with us."

"For the moment I'm going to go under in the pool and see if I can find the key down there."

Search as she might, Hana eventually resurfaces having seen no sign of the key. Only a few more rather rusty mining tools lay at the bottom of the pool.

Hana clambers out of the pool, does the slo-mo supermodel hair shake, then pushes her hair back and squeezes out the excess water.

"I could not find the key," she says. "Let's carry on. I can't think of anything else to look for here."

Continuing on further into the mine, you an echoing banging throughout this area of the mine. Looking around Dereje, Estietre, Hana, and Savras notice two wights up on the ceiling of the cavern, pounding away at what appears to be loosening rock.

Quickly grasping components from her pouch, Estietre walks out on the surface of the water, and gestures at the wight further north.

She commands it "Fight the other." and points to the second wight on the ceiling.
