That makes three of us.

Hey Max,

Are we still going to continue with this game, or is it officially done for?

Still here, too.

Sorry for the silence folks! I've been having some trouble getting back into the PbP mindset following the holidays, and have been battling a severe case of writer's block. But I've been working on getting back into the groove and will have an update this evening.

You have all demonstrated the patience of saints, and I thank you. I can't let the best players on this site be disappointed!

*Bows* We are nothing but pawns for your DMing entertainment. =) *Goes and reads wall of text...;)

Nazard/Eseldra,

Did you have a spreadsheet put together for group treasure on this game already. I know you were interested in having someone else take over the treasure duties, and I am willing to do it, just want to make sure we have all of our stuff.

Without knowing what we had before, here's what we've gained since Max took over as DM.

175 gp

Leather Armor, 22 sets
Longbow, 17
Arrow, 253
Short sword, 22
Trail Rations, 96 days
Chain Shirt, Masterwork, 2 (Karthas, ?)
Longbow, Composite (+2), Masterwork, 1
Longsword, 3
Dagger (Cat's Eye), 1
Potion (unidentified), 4
Silver Amulet Shaped like a stag's skull, 1
Dagger, Cat's Eye, 1
Darkwood Shield, 1,
Masterwork Battleaxe, 1
Studded Lether Armor, 2
Bucklers, 2
Light crossbows, 8
Bolts, 90
Masterwork Agile Breastplate (House Lodovka), 1
Masterwork Quickdraw light steel shield (House Lodovka), 1
Masterwork backpack, 1
Fuse Grenades, 2

eight crates of furs and hides
four barrels of salted fish
six casks of ale

We never decided who was taking what before, we need to do that soon, and also it appears we have so much stuff that we need to return to Oleg's so that we can maintain our mobility.

Karthas is going to lay claim to one of the MW Chain shirts.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

With Karthas claiming one of the MW Chain Shirts, he will put his MW Studded Leather back into the party pool.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Didn't we have two cat's eye daggers?

If you all don't mind, I would like to claim/use the following:

1x Silver Amulet shaped like a Stag's skull
1x Longsword

Also, Hiram would be unaware of any political implications, but would be interested in "borrowing" the House Lodovka breastplate for use during the mission, with the understanding that it is borrowed only and not really his, and he would gladly surrender it upon request to it's rightful owner.

I, again, would like to ask for one of the suits of Master Work Chain.

You are aware that those are chain shirts (+4 armor bonus/+4 max dex) and not chainmail (+6 armor bonus/+2 max dex), right? I don't mind if the rest of the party is cool with that, just making sure you know what you are asking for.

Sovereign Court

He already has chain mail, so its likely pyjamas ;)

Now, I was not aware. *Bows*

I apologise. Some times my shifts do not allow time for a good perusal of threads.

I was actually thinking of adding a 'Chain Skirt', basically the 'Armoured Skirt/Kilt' from the Golarion Guide and the Adventurers Armoury, in the fullness of time. *Bows*

Here's the google doc I made for dividing loot. Anybody can edit it without signing in.

Eseldra has no interest in any of that loot, other than the spellbook (which isn't really loot). She would like to buy some stuff, however, so selling stuff would be good.

I'll update the spreadsheet tonight, when I get home and put the link in Karthas's profile for future reference.

Hiram wants the Agile Breastplate....

Tyr, do you still want one of the MW Chain Shirts? I would suggest once we are able to sell stuff, you should really look into heavy armor. It won't slow you down anymore than the chainmail already does and will protect you better.

Ok, party treasure sheet is updated. I am assuming Hiram is taking the Agile Breastplate and Tyr is taking the fuse grenades for now.

Max, what are the value of:

cat's eye daggers (2)
crates of furs and hides (8)
barrels of salted fish (4)
casks of ale (6)

Would anyone care to try and identify the potions we have?

If you want to claim an item, let me know and I will remove it from the list.

*Bows* While the suggestion of heavier armour is appreciated. I'm kind of more looking to keeping the 'Full Chain mail' look.

Technically, chain-mail should be easier to upkeep/make more of for our resources into the future.

With tools Tyr should be able to fix, maintain and possibly even make more chain-mail. =)

The crates of furs and hides are worth 50 gp each.

The barrels of salted fish are worth 30 gp each.
The casks of ale are worth 30 gp each.

I believe Hiram claimed one of the cat's eye daggers. I'll have the cost for the other dagger for you this evening - I left my notes at home.

Each cat's eye dagger is worth 1500 gp, but may be difficult to sell in the Stolen Lands as it is associated with the cult of the Angry Hag.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

I have a suggestion for the group.

Normally we would have 7 dividers for division of treasure. My suggestion is that we divide things 8 ways, with eighth divider being a general party fund for items and spells that benefit the party as a whole.

What does everyone think?

I have no objections and it does sound like a good idea. *Bows*

Male Human Paladin: 2

Wow! 1500gp!

My original intent was just to hold onto them, in the hopes that if the old superstition that the Old Hag could see through them, the maybe she would only see me. I was trying to keep her from spying on us.

Are they worth that much because of the jewels?

If no one else wants them, Hiram will claim them for no other reason than to keep an eye on them. If anyone comes for them...he will step up to the plate.

Also the "8th companion share" is a great idea! My vote is yea.

Oops! I forgot that you all hadn't identified the daggers yet. Well, between Eseldra, Cinders, and Berenkor (when you get back to Oleg's) you discover that each dagger allows the wielder to use the Death Knell spell once per day if the dagger is used to deliver the killing blow. This is a use-activated item whose activation is part of the standard action used to deliver the attack. Additionally, the obsidian used to craft the dagger has been enchanted to be as hard as steel. (This is technically a masterwork dagger that also acts as a wondrous item.)

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

I don't have a problem with Hiram holding on to the daggers....just for information's sake, not selling them decreases the eight shares by ~225 gp each.

Also, the 4 unidentified potions are:

Cure Moderate Wounds,
Cure Moderate Wounds,
Shield of Faith +2, and
Oil of Magic Weapon +1

We should get these onto someone's character sheet soon. Karthas would like either one of the CMW or the Shield of Faith. He tends to take a lot of damage due to his poor AC. That being said, he has one of the party's few permanent magic items (boots of elvenkind) and if others want the potions I fully understand.

Yes, it would be helpful if everyone would update their sheets with the items they've claimed and note any changes to AC and/or combat statistics as a result of those items. So far it looks like the following have been claimed:

Karthas:
Masterwork Chain Shirt

Eseldra:
Spellbook (of course!)

Tyr:
2 Fuse Grenades

Hiram:
Masterwork Agile Breastplate (House Lodovka)
Longsword
Silver Stag-skull Amulet
2 Cat's Eye Daggers (instruments of cult of Gyronna - I don't really consider this as claimed gear since Hiram is really just keeping them out of the hands of evildoers)

Anybody else want anything?

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

Someone should take the following as well: (or if you already have them on your sheet, speak up)

everburning torch
broken wayfinder
potion of CLW
anti-toxin herbs
masterwork backpack

*Holds up hand for the CLW going*

Something to tide the character over whence next it takes combat damage. =)

*Bows*

Euron has the broken wayfinder.

Male Human Cleric 2

May I have the potion of Shield of Faith +2? I promise I'll keep you up, Karthas - even if it means going down myself to do it. :-)

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 2

Cinders wouldn't mind the oil of magic weapon. Could be useful.

I also like the idea of dividing the treasure eight ways and using the eighth as a party fund.

Jamison Walker wrote:

Go for it, like I said before, I have one of the party's few permanent magic items, so I'm not going to fight for too many things.

Male Human Paladin: 2

I will carry the torch if no one else wants to.

Hiram is okay with being singled out as a target.

Also, if you will allow me to take the matching shield to the breastplate, I will throw in my current armor and shield to be sold for the parties benefit.

And though I am carrying the daggers for RP reasons, if you want to give others more treasure for doing so, I am okay with it.

There is a sacrifice to be paid for protecting others from evil, and Hiram is ready to pay.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

Take the torch and the shield. I'm seeing you have a MW quickdraw shield and MW chain shirt in you inventory currently, is that correct?

Male Human Paladin: 2

Yes, i believe it is.

Male Human Paladin: 2

bump, lest we be forgotten

Never forgotten, merely unavoidably delayed. We'll get there though...

DM casts Raise Thread.

Great battle folks!

Since this rusty DM is still learning the ropes for running games in PbP, I'd appreciate a little feedback.

What do you think of the challenges you've faced so far? Have the battles been too hard? Too easy? Just right?

Does the game need more of a variety of challenges? More skill challenges? More roleplaying encounters with NPCs?

I realize it's been a LONG time since our last big battle against the large band of bandits, but would you like more encounters like that, or less?

Any other suggestions/concerns?

As always, thanks for being so patient with me, and thanks for your input.

Best Regards!
-Max

You are doing well with game, now that it is going again. In a wilderness setting, many of the roleplay opportunities are going to have to be created by the PC's or else you have a highly populated unexplored wilderness.

The big bandit battle was quite challenging, and the battle with the flabby skinned, razor clawed giants was much as I would expect vs. a party this size...dangerous because of the damage that they can cause per hit.

I think you'll see things pick up some once we make it back to Oleg's and regroup with a bit more defined direction.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Nice one JW! Ha!

Male Human Paladin: 2

Had a thought.

DM Max...are you opposed to having dark or evil magic items purified?

If you are so inclined, perhaps we could engage a local cleric of Erastil that we know at a special temple to purify these cat's eye daggers.

Hiram-

That is a very interesting idea. Did you have any details in mind?

You know, purifying something as dark and evil as the cat's eye daggers would probably require the assistance of some type of embodiment of pureness and good - like a unicorn, perhaps...

Male Human Paladin: 2

Well, I don't know. I will think on it. I was primarily asking due to the fact that those are expensive daggers, and while it makes sense in character for him to keep an eye on them...pardon the pun...it is not fair as far as the WBL goes, because he really doesn't use or need them, and others could certainly use a magic weapon. Barring that, they could be sold after cleansing to provide some much needed supplies.

A unicorn would be good. Maybe some ceremony up at the local Erastil shrine, some moonlight, some holy water...definitely a quest.
