I've got no problem with that! My only request is that we try to track down the mites that stole Svetlana's ring. According to the bandits, they are located somewhere east of the bandit camp.

It sounds like the group is keen on that, so we'll start exploring south-easterly. Helmsman, come to a new heading!

Hey group- just a quick note here - and not on your IC thread- to say that I just sat down and read all 699 (is that it?) of the postings in your campaign- in more or less a single sitting. Great fun- and you are all doing a fantastically good job bringing this cool campaign to life.

Thanks for the joy you've given this humble lurker- I'm going to bookmark the IC thread for sure!

Wow. We really are at 700 posts...and we're just getting started. LOL. Glad you like the game. It has been fun.

Thanks, mate! Good to have you lurking! The boys at Paizo have put together a great campaign and I'm just doing my best to bring it to life. I appreciate the kind words, and this is only going so well because I found an awesome group to game with on here.

Keep on lurkin'!

You're welcome, all. It's been a pleasure lurking here. Some of the party, feel free to borrow my stellar Stealth rolls! You know who you are! ; )

I'll take a few of those. :) Should keep me from loudly singing barbarian songs while everyone else is trying to be sneaky.

(I'm putting this here as I don't want to double post on the IC)

Rani btw you have a strength penalty; you know it applies to your bows damage yeah?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/weapons#TOC-Longbow

And due to the strength penalty your melee attacks should be -1, and the damage on your wooden fists 1d3 (-1 for strength penalty, +1 for 1/2 cleric level).

Sorry to be a pain, was actually only looking at your character sheet to check I had my XP correct lol.

Not a pain at all. I have no idea how I missed it, in fact. Last night when I was making up the Climb roll info I had to check to see what her strength bonus was and only then even remembered that she had an 8. I will take a look at the sheet and fix it. Sorry, all, about that.

Think I've got it all fixed up now, but auditing would be appreciated if anyone has the time. I would say that I forgot you take a Str penalty but don't get a bonus with a regular bow. But seeing how I didn't put it on anything I guess I just forgot she had a penalty at all.

Sovereign Court

I'll give your sheet another look, will edit this post in 5 mins.

Edit: All looks ok, the channel energy DC should possibly be 13, most things done on a 1/2 level basis have a mininum of 1 (Bardic Knowledge comes to mine)

Just remember on a critical hit, your penalty is not multiplied. So on a crit she would be 3d8-1.

On alignment, so as not to dirty up the IC thread too much:

Rani wrote:
On chaotic, I don't agree. James T. Kirk going into a society that conducts its wars by computer, and sends people to the disintegration chamber to die because they've been marked as casualties, and destroying that computer so they have to fight real wars again just because it doesn't fit *his* idea of order...that's chaotic. And it's the reason the Federation invented the Prime Directive.
Berenkor wrote:
Free-spirited, 'let them be how they want to be' is chaotic in my book but we agree to disagree eh :). And your Kirk analogy reeks of Lawful Evil with emphasis on Lawful to me lol.

I've always seen Kirk as an exemplar of chaotic good behavior. His heart is always (well, usually) in the right place and he has good intentions...but he has a very bad habit of kicking the struts out from under societies that are functioning perfectly well without his intervention (though the way they function may not be to his, or the Federation's, taste).

I believe a lawful person respects order. If he/she wants to change a system he doesn't destroy it and hope that the system he wants rises from the ensuing chaos...he does it from within, using the society's own existing mechanisms. Good people are required to fight evil but I believe that lawful good people must do so within the laws that govern.

Taking down an evil necromancer menacing a good city is one thing. Visiting a city in hell and expecting to right every wrong he sees is insanity - and gives rise to cries of "lawful stupid" on gaming messageboards. Want to save the slave from a beating in an evil city where slavery is legal and beating is okay? Buy the slave. Find a loophole that the master has forgotten or never knew (maybe you can't beat them between 3pm and 5pm). I see that as how a lawful good person must react in such a situation.

To Rani, the kobolds have a society that's working...to her knowledge. Jumping to conclusions about the motives of those involved in the society and making plans to go in and "put it to rights" is beyond her ken. If the Chief says, "help, I'm being repressed" then maybe that's another matter. Still, she'd like to find out what their society's rules are before acting. How can a shaman be deposed there, etc.?

So. Anyway. Not trying to cause an inter-party argument with all of this. If I was playing a NG wizard I'd be all over upsetting their apple cart.
M

Ladies and gentlemen, I do indeed love this campaign.
If you ever need an extra character, FOR INSTANCE MIKMEK, I guarantee you lots of great roleplaying and fun...

(I lurked on a pbp Village of Hommlet campaign for - oh, about a year or two - eventually joining the party as Pipgnuk Tuh, a goblin rascal who slowly converted to the stern ways of St. Cuthbert...)

Also as a note, I check this tale at least twice a day-- it is perhaps the most entertaining of the Kingmaker PbPs partially due to the number of posts, partially due to the personalities.

Tee hee, glad you like!

I'm picturing him totally all but worshipping Rani and Esaldra too. Because they healed him and can do 'big-big magic, more strong than Sharptooth!'

He will emulate the two ladies slavishly if ineptly. The gnome he'll live in mortal terror of, terror tempered with awe. The other party members he'll basically ignore, because, duh, they're not Rani or Esaldra. But since R. & E. LIKE the other characters, Mikmek will be obsequious to Tyr, etc., at least when he thinks the Big Pretty Ladies are watching...

Oh I've got big plans...

Glad to see our lurker community :)

For clarity, when I said the analogy was Lawful Evil, I meant the computer scenario, not Kirk interfering with it. If this has got to you to the point where you are worrying about upsetting people, it's not worth my time discussing it.

Huzzah for the lurkers! The Mikmek idea is fun. We had a campaign where the party captured a goblin, then decided to make him a cohort. He basically ran around the battlefield, handing out potions and items as the party needed them.

His name was Meerg, and I miss him.

Regardless, I'm glad we've got people following along! I'm having a blast running this, and am considering starting up CotCT on the boards...

CotCT huh, I'll have to keep my eyes open for that one. :)

I don't know if you (and the rest of our group) would be interested, but I've been strongly considering running Council of Thieves on here and would like to have people from our current group if possible. I'm a big fan of the pace that we've had.

EDIT: At the very least I'd like to give the current group first shot at a spot anyway.

Yep, agree here as well. As far as Harther is concerned, he is interested in forging an alliance with the kobolds, and he has made a deal with their leader (Chief Sootscale) in order to make that happen. I wouldn't say that Harther is interested in "going in and putting things to rights" at this time, because he doesn't really know the details of whatever strife there may be within the tribe. However, Tartuk didn't give Harther a warm and fuzzy feeling, so Harther will be more likely to be sympathetic to the Chief's side than the shaman's side (if there even ARE sides).

Ok then I will run Council of Thieves (probably start up a recruiting thread, if needed, in a week or two - just to give myself time to review bits of it again.)

Sully and Alexander: you can each consider one of the spots yours if you want it.

I'm really enjoying the pace that we've had with this PbP as well - it's exactly what I've been looking for, since PbP is currently the only way in which I can play D&D/Pathfinder at this time. So needless to say, I'd be interested in participating in a Curse of the Crimson Throne and/or a Council of Thieves PbP if you guys are running them!

Male Halfling Cavalier 1 (Honor Guard, Emissary)

Sully how are we doing HP when we level up? Take the average (if so, start low or high?)?

I thought it might also be worth roughly setting out what our plans for our Level 2 are.

Berenkor will be taking versatile performance (Oratory) for a total of +9 to Diplomacy and Sense Motive to help be the party's face.

He will be continuing the trend his skill points have set, raising Perform's, Knowledges, Stealth and Linguistics (probably Sylvan).

He will take Ghost Sound or Detect Magic as his next cantrip, and will be taking Cure Light Wounds to help Rani with the healing.

You can take the average or roll. Player's choice. :) That way you can gamble if you so desire...

HP Roll for Level 2-

1d8 ⇒ 8

Edit: Woot!!!

I would so love to play either of those, especially Curse of the Crimson Throne. I currently have several characters waiting in Limbo (literally, its a RP thread someone started where characters can gather and interact, it's crazy fun). All the Mystic Theurge bashing has got me wanting to make one of them to prove that they can be fun; also have a dagger-throwing rogue that I want to prove is viable too.

Have we all gone up a level????

No I just had some enquiries of people as we are pretty close now.

Mystic Theurges can be amazing. They have more juice than anyone else. They are only considered inferior IMO, due to the low amount of encounters most DM's tend to run in one day.

Plus the people who don't play wizards very well and just want to start racking up the d6 damage dice...

Haha yup :). I'm a big fan of Theurges, people really miss the point comparing them to a full caster...

Sully,

Thanks for the offer on Crimson Throne and would happily take one of the spots. (Something along the lines of a Varisan Bard heading towards Harrower.)

As far as our Kingmaker game: when leveling, if we choose not to roll you say we can take the average...for instance d8 average =(8+1)/2 = 4.5 (rounded down or up?) Or are you calling average (1/2*die)+1 like they do for Pathfinder Society? Just curious.

(1/2*die)+1 like they do for Pathfinder Society is how I usually do it.

So thoughts on a Mystic Theurge for Curse of the Crimson Throne...

Two options are interesting me...
A human or elf conjurer (graduate of the Academy with the Academy Graduate feat)/cleric of Pharasma (main worry with this idea is that I don't want people to think that I only ever play elven conjurers!) Elf and human make no real difference in stats with Sully's method, so elf advantage is +2 to spell penetration, and human advantage is extra feat.

A gnome (or human) illusionist/cleric of Sivanah (tough with no racial bonus to either primary casting stat. Offset a bit by the gnomish virtual Spell Focus Illusion feat, but still (with Sully's creation methods) stats of 6, 10, 14, 16, 14, 15. Would definitely need one of those boost two mental stat headbands just to get access to higher level spells in both classes, let alone decent save DCs; obviously a battlefield control and buffing caster. Human stats of 8, 10, 12, 16, 16, 13 and an extra feat to take Spell Focus Illusion.

Both builds take the Religious trait from the player's guide to help offset the low concentration bonuses, and the human versions might take Combat Casting too, because this character can really only cast. Either way, take barred schools of enchantment and abjuration (I know, just like Eseldra; I'd be tempted to take Enchantment and Necromancy, but I'd want the spectral hand for delivering cure spells trick).

Wow, that's a lot of incoherent rambling! Any thoughts?

Male Why's it always got to be that way? DM 14

May I butt in and be a bit presumptious for a moment?

First off, I am excited to see where y'all take your interactions with the Kobolds in the future...I always appreciate it when players look to the future and see a possibility for a diplomatic relation rather than viewing npc's and monsters as walking xp bags. Your group is really doing great things here.

Back to my point.

I have noticed your rumblings about running some of the other AP's, both Sully's CoCT and Talomyr's CoT. I was wondering if I might be able to throw my hat in for consideration in the SECOND round of choosing after the first round draft picks. I totally respect a good group dynamic and will continue to watch and lurk regardless in both games, but I would like to try this whole PbP gaming thing. My main issue with PbP so far has been that the players don't seem to maintain an agreeable pace, but this group DOES NOT suffer from that!

At any rate, I just wanted to take a moment to express my interest, so that y'all didn't think that you were alone out there on the intertubes.

As always,
Berwick

P.S. Thank you all so much for adding so much fun to my day! Also, please make sure to link to the other games from here or something so those of us in the shadows can be ever vigilant.

First of all, from the group: Thanks for reading, and we're glad you've enjoyed it.

Secondly, speaking only for myself. (I'll let Sully speak his own opinions on the matter). After our current group has decided what they would like to do, (play or not play in my proposed CoT game) it seems only fair that the next opportunities would go to our "lurkers".

For other lurkers: I appreciate that you may be interested, but please hold your requests to join until we know if there are spots available. (not wanting to flood Sully's discusion thread with requests.) Thanks.

I'll just throw this out there...I have been running a pbp on this site- homebrew Elizabethan colonize the new world (Arcadia) style. Higher RP/diplomacy/cut-throat politics to combat ratio than most published adventures (the politics start right at first level), which makes it a nice fit with the PbP method. It has been going very well, though the posting rate is a little slower than I would like. I have been considering running it again in parallel, but not on this site as that might get a bit confusing. What other PbP sites that allow you to incorporate dice rolls are there? Google searching has led me to a lot of really sketching places.

Edit: Oh, and anybody interested in such a game?

Berwick, I totally agree with Tal. I'm probably going to put up a recruitment thread this morning for CotCT, so you will most certainly be up for consideration!

And for the record, it really makes my day that we've got people following this, even if they aren't playing. This group is outstanding and the only regret I have is that I'll probably never game with all you guys IRL.
