DM Stormwind |

For this feat, I'll probably track it on the Campaign Info page for everyone. If there are any other Achievements you are shooting for, let me know.

DM Stormwind |

You've listed your disable device skill as a +2, but you have a +4 Dex. With one rank, you should have a +5.
You could also exchange your Legacy of Sand Trait for vagabond Child, though since that would require some rewrites, and I like your backstory, I would allow the Nimble Fingers, Keen Mind trait to apply, since your story has you working in a gunsmith throughout your youth, and Flintlock mechanisms were derived from... locks; hence the name. We would apply the trait to Alkenstar instead of Brigh, and skill consider it a regional trait.
Either trait would take your Disable Device skill up to a +9.

Xanyon |

I'm in Medium Load which imposes a -3 armor check on Disable Device. As part of the sheet clean up I'll make sure to mark that. I could trade out the trait but I really do like the backstory I crafted around them. I'm planning on dipping a level of ranger in level 2 with the Trapper Archetype, that gets me Disable Device as a class skill as well. Hopefully we don't run into too many traps before level 2, or I can drop Legacy of Sand for Nimble Fingers, Keen Mind. Whichever you think would be most helpful to the party I'm ok with.

DM Stormwind |

However you would like to run your character is fine with me, I was just making suggestions. As I hinted at previously, I tend to believe that the character should be the purview of the player, and the GM should just worry about the world with which they interact. If the way you have him set up now works with his character story and your general intent with the character, then by all means, carry on.
On a different note, I've added a section for achievement tracking into the campaign info tab, as promised. Some might be harder to record than others, but we'll do what we can.

Gin Dharak |

Not gonna lie, I feel bad for all the gnolls we are going to smash. I don't think I will be the one killing them at first, but I figure with a CMB of 6 to trip them on a flurry of blows, I can drop there AC by 4 for everybody else. Oh and we get AofO if they try to get up, if not, they get the -4 to there BAB as well.

Sati |

My statblock is finished up, and my background story is posted. I think I'm ready to go, though feedback on my build is always welcome. I am also a pretty good party face; I ended up with +12 on Diplomacy.
My Eidolon profile is up too, though I'm still trying to think of a permanent name.

DM Stormwind |

Looks good Sati, though the Eidolon is still missing a few things.
A question inspired by Seif and Tarin, but one that also applies to Sati, and maybe others: Are any of you formally recognized at Priests (or the equivalent) by your religion? While out of game we tend to think of only Clerics as priests, anyone can be a priest regardless of class, as it is an in-game title, and not a mechanical feature. All it would represent would be a certain level of dedication and history with your church.

Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |

Regarding Seif, I would say that he is recognised as a priest, albeit a very junior one.
@Sati: Out of curiousity, why do you have 10 languages? Common and Celestial are 'free', you should have an extra two due to your Int, and an additional one for a rank in Linguistics... If there is something that I am missing, please let me know, as I would love to pull the same trick ;-)
@Gin: You appear to still have an additional two languages to choose...

Muqaq al-Varisi |

Muqaq is not a priest yet, but I believe I mentioned somewhere once he finds out what happened to his mom I'm going to dip a level of Flame oracle. At which point he would likely become the equivalent of an itinerant priest of Sarenrae. Gotta put that 350 GP holy symbol to use :P

Gin Dharak |

So, at present, if I am right (based on profiles), we have the following:
Sarenrae: Seif-al-Din, Sati, Muqaq, Zerekias
Torag: Xanyon
Cayden Cailean: Tarin
Erastil: Gin
Yeah, I may end up changing though. Sarenrae has Restoration and Heroism as subdomains which, while not important to character abilites, would fairly well describe what Gin is trying to do (restore the town he grew up in).

Tarin Larvendi |

Ok, profile is fixed up and expanded. I'm going to stick with Cayden, but Tarin also worships Sarenrae as a secondary deity - Cayden is the god of his family and heart, but Sarenrae is obviously also great and worthy of his worship, and praying to her doesn't offend Cayden in the slightest, I wouldn't think.
Also, I invite everyone to check out and comment on my skill selection - most stuff is based on usefulness and flavour/backstory, but if there's something the party needs (does anyone have stealth?) I'd look into changing before we start.
By the way, when do we start? :D

Sati |

Hmm. I've been playing that way for a long time, and no one has ever mentioned it. When I reread the skill, it does say 'Ranks' and not skill level. I'll have to take a look and see if that has come up before. In the meantime I suppose I'll have to give up some languages.

Muqaq al-Varisi |

One advantage to playing PBP is you will learn the real rules. I can't tell you the amount of things I've learned I was doing wrong since I started playing on these boards, and I was our real life group's DM. There's a lot of people on here who know the rules really well, and having essentially unlimited time to look up rules without disrupting the game helps a lot too. I still regularly make mistakes and am corrected by my players and I'm running 6 games on the boards right now.

DM Stormwind |

By the way, when do we start? :D
We can begin as soon as everyone's characters are finalized. I'll create the gameplay forum now, and try to get the initial post up asap. Once your characters are ready to go, feel free to post and introduce yourself.
I like players to be effusive in their initial posts as much as they can; give a physical description down to what you are wearing and carrying, how you act, and how you interact, if you talk to anyone. Think of this as your character making their first strong impression. There is never a second chance.

Tarin Larvendi |

By the by, is anyone interested in creating character connections before we start, or shall we just be strangers gathered by Garavel, and meet in-game? I'm an Andoran Pathfinder coming via Absalom, so I'm not sure who would have had the opportunity to meet me, but I just thought I'd bring it up.
Thoughts DM?
Edit: Ah ok, first gameplay post answers this question pretty well.
@ Muqaq: I'm looking forward to sharpening up rules-fu as well. Like you were, I'm the home GM in isolation to a wider RPG culture, so I'm sure I'll get quite a bit out of this too.

Tarin Larvendi |

@ DM: Also, as an Andoran, I wouldn't mind pursuing this achievement feat if you're cool with that.
Chainbreaker (Achievement)
Nothing rouses your fury and makes you more deadly in battle than the sight of slaves cowering before their masters.
Prerequisites: Over the course of at least five different occasions, free a cumulative total of 50+ sentient beings held in unjust captivity.
Benefit: When in combat with an opponent that you know owns or trades in slaves, once per round you may add a bonus to damage rolls for a melee attack, ranged attack, or targeted spell against that opponent. This bonus damage is +1 for every four Hit Dice you have.

Sati |

I just wanted to let everyone know that , not only am I new to play-by-post but I am fairly new to role-playing IRL. I appreciate being given the opportunity to play with such an advanced group of players.
Any suggestions, tips, tricks, critiques you have re: my game play and/or character would be good.

Truth be told, Im in a similar boat. I've been playing pathfinder for a little over a year now but all of the games I've played were in person. So PbP is new to me as well.
Random side note though. Is it odd that in an entire caravan of men, no one has tried to flirt with the only woman?
DM Stormwind |

Heck, I think it's great there's a real gal in this game. There are so many dudes who try to play a woman, it's just terrible. I'd rather a gal be played by a real gal.
Ironically enough, they just do a better job of it. Go figure. ;)
Strange how that works.
On a side note Mr DM, is Garavel a Pathfinder? Away from my computer to check the Players Guide...

He has made no indication of such a connection. As for the achievement, for sure. I'd had been thinking of adding that one for Sati already, given her background.

Muqaq al-Varisi |

For the first time in my life my real life gaming group is half women half men. It's different, but not so much so. My wife usually plays very masculine lesbian characters (or old ladies, or young girls. Things that aren't targets for flirting from men). The other girl always plays a badass Red Sonja type, who also takes no s@~+ from men.

DM Stormwind |

Thank you for the heads up Muqaq. We will continue on as best we can until you get back.

DM Stormwind |

No worries Muqaq, I've gotten that threat myself, so I understand.
Sounds like we have a lot of married people in this group. I am, Muqaq, Tarin, and Sati. Anyone else?
