DM Stormwind |

My workload is up again a little bit at present, so please be patient if I'm not posting as often. Hopefully I will all caught up soon and able to get back into the routine.

DM Stormwind |

I've talked to Sati and it sounds like her schedule and/or level of business is not likely to change soon. She said that she has still been following the game, and is reading along, but has not had the time to post and contribute. Out of fairness to her companions, it probably makes the most sense for her to withdraw, and I reluctantly agree. She said that she is going to continue to read along with us, and she has been enjoying the story, the characterizations, and the roleplaying immensely. Thanks everyone for making this such an entertaining game. Best of luck with your PhD Sati!

Gruthic Shalebreaker |

>.<
Just realized in re-reading the way the tower shield works that I had made an unfortunate assumption: I thought that setting your tower shield prevented you from moving, cause you were, you know, setting it on the ground.
I could have changed the order of my round 1 actions and denied the boar the second AoO. Oh well, live and learn (if Gruthic lives, that is).

Muqaq al-Varisi |

Any chance we could up our posting rate guys? This game was really awesome when it first started, but I feel like it keeps getting slower and slower. I know DM Stormwind is more busy now, but he seems to have returned to a more normal posting rate. Lets keep up our end and try for a post a day. We can get this thing really moving again!

DM Stormwind |

Glad you noticed my efforts. I've probably gotten even busier, if truth be told, but I've been trying to make a greater effort to make sure I'm posting. I'd be glad to see the team step up to a daily posting rate as well.
Weekends will continue to be hit and miss for me as I have small children and I like to spend my time with them when I can, but I'll continue my efforts to make sure things are moved along during the week.

DM Stormwind |

There is an opportunity that occurs in the near future of the storyline that provides for the opportunity to introduce a new character. With Sati having bowed out, would you like me to recruit another player?

DM Stormwind |

OK everyone, I've invited Dreaming Warforged to join our little party here. He was one of the original applicants for the game when it was first pitched, and one I considered long and hard before going another way. He is pretty well known on the boards, so hopefully some of you have had the opportunity to play with him before. If not, let me tell you I have always enjoyed my interactions with him and I think he'll be a great addition.
I'm going to invite him to share his ideas here to the extent of his character ideas, and you can provide your feedback in terms of what you would like to see as an addition to party resources. Your party is pretty well balanced at present, with plenty of melee capability, two primary range fighters, and good divine resources, and at least a bit of arcane. With Gruthic, you even have trapfinding covered. All that being said, it seems that there are no glaring areas that need to be covered, and DW's options are pretty open.
At present, his proposed character is a Human Desert Druid.

N'Dateh |

Hello All,
Glad to join. This is very much a work in progress. Feel free to make comments and suggestions. I'm hoping to have it finished tonight.

N'Dateh |

Hi Jelani!
Only equipment is missing...
Regarding feats, there is just so many interesting ones!!! I'll have a closer look once I get some sleep and make some hard choices in order to center the character. I'm worried it's a little too spread atm.

DM Stormwind |

Notes on N'Dateh:
HP: We're using max HP at present, probably until level three, after which we'll switch to average +1. So, you should have 22 HP by my count.
Spear: Keep in mind the house rule
Spear: Spears are one handed weapons when used with a shield in the off hand. A character with Martial Weapon proficiencies may always treat a spear as a one handed weapon.
As Druids are specifically proficient with spears, I would consider that a Martial proficiency.
Prepared Spells: No Entangle? That's a pretty standard low level battlefield control spell, and quite useful. Hide from animals may come up, but probably not often. Just a suggestion.
Feats: In your potential future feat list you have Natural Spell listed at level 5; Desert Druids don't get wild shape until level 6, and thus wouldn't qualify at that level. You're not going to be there for a while, but just thought I'd point that out.
Traits: The reclaiming your roots trait is perfect for your character story, but I'd like to see the wand mentioned in said story if it is to be your heirloom... Where did you get it, why is it so significant?
Languages: You need to pick two bonus languages from your intelligence.
Animal Companion: You can list your animal companion on your character profile, or create a distinct alias for the creature, whatever you prefer. I often find having a separate profile handy, and enjoyed the way it worked with Sati, the summoner who's spot you are filling. She used a separate profile for her eidolon. Either way, I'd like to see it stated up.
Summary: All in all, she looks solid and should be a great addition. As you don't have your gear done up yet, I'm not sure how you envision her in her combat roll, being up front, support, or ranged, so it might be good to hear a bit about how you intend for her to function in those kind of situations. The high strength kind of indicates melee, so I am guessing you are headed for a wild shape fighter, though that may be well down the road.

Dreaming Warforged |

Some quick answers. More later.
HP: Ok.
Spear: No worries. This is a placeholder until I do equipment.
As Druids are specifically proficient with spears, I would consider that a Martial proficiency. Great!
Prepared Spells: I like Entangle, but you need plants. I don't know to what extent I'll be able to cast it...
Feats: Thanks, I had forgotten. I'm reviewing my list tonight.
Traits: It's in my background. The feather is how I got my training after "sacrificing" the boy.
Languages: I picked them. They are at the top. I probably forgot to update the line later in the profile. Will do so tonight.
Animal Companion: I have none for now. I don't mind stating it up and having a different profile for it, but it makes retrieving combat stats a little more cumbersome for me. Let me know if it's a big thing. I'll adjust.
Summary: I'll try to come up with a summary of how I see her contribute in combat.

DM Stormwind |

The summary is not particularly important, I was just curious how you envisioned things. On the rest, all is good. If you prefer to have your animal companion on your Druid's profile, I have no problem with that, I just thought it was neat the way Sati did it.

N'Dateh |

Ok, got your comments in, went over the feats (tortured myself quite a bit) and got the companion done.
All left now should be equipment ;)

DM Stormwind |

I'll be out of town for a couple of days; taking my family to see the dinosaur museum in the Alberta Badlands. They have quite a good fossil collection with all the usual favorites, like T-Rex and Allosaurus, though Triceratops definitely seem to have been one of the predominant species in the area, so they have about 20 different versions of Ceratopsians, and not as many of the big sauropods. If you're ever in Western Canada, it's worth checking out, though I don't know how it compares to the big American natural history museums. Its major claim to fame is that almost all the dino's on exhibit were found locally, as Alberta is one of the richest fossil sites in the world, probably rivaled only by Mongolia.
As for the game, I will try to update when I get back, but it may be Monday before I get into the swing of things again.

DM Stormwind |

N'Dateh: Looks great. I'm surprised you took a horse as your animal companion; I was expecting a lion for some reason. Horses are not a natural desert creature, but then the ones bred for those climates, such as arabians, have long been considered the best in the world. As well, from a purely mechanical standpoint, I've been told horses are one of, if not the most powerful animal companions. Though it is a little silly, by RAW, horses can also be trained to track by scent, like a bloodhound. For his skills, Acrobatics is very handy for a mount if you want him to be able to jump anything, or, the aforementioned Survival skill for tracking.
Feats are good, though at your caster level, Craft will only allow you to make scrolls at this level, though you'll be able to add Potions to your repertoire at level 3.
Everything looks great. As soon as you can get your gear done, we can work towards your introduction. When calculating gear, you may Craft as many scrolls as you like, paying the manufacturing cost of course.

N'Dateh |

Gear is done.
Gave acrobatics to the horse. Yes, I was thinking arabian horse :) She'll probably change as needed through her career. I could even flirt with taking a level of Mammoth Rider at some point!!!

N'Dateh |

My best wishes!!!
(I too will be mostly away from a computer until Monday or Tuesday.)

DM Stormwind |

I can attest that they do... I stayed on the boards through my second, but only because I have the kind of job that allows me to post from work on lunch and at breaks.

Xanyon |

Thanks all. Mom and baby are healthy, we're all taking a much needed sleep break tonight. I'm too tired to post but I'm up to date on all threads, and not to worry, this shouldn't affect my ability to post as I'm normally in front of a computer for 12+ hours a day.

DM Stormwind |

Sorry for the delay folks. I'm getting slammed at work again and so I haven't had much time this week. I will try to get something up asap.

DM Stormwind |

Again, sorry for the delays. In addition to my workload issues I got to add computer issues to the mix. My work computer suffered a hard drive failure, leaving me with a loaner for a bit, and then now a new computer that I haven't had a chance to customize yet. All of my map files were on the old computer and so while I can download them again, I haven't had the chance. Maps may be a little crude for a while as a result.

N'Dateh |

I will likely be unable to post (or very little) until Tuesday.

DM Stormwind |

When you are done your leveling up, please note here any improvements you have made. I'd like to know what feat or class features everyone has selected. You may once again take max HP for this level.
