Okay, seems like an ambush will be set up for the bandits.

I know where the NPC's are, but the position of the PC's is kinda unclear to me...

Hobson is hiding in the guest house,
Svetlana is hiding in the main house,
Oleg is behind one of the gate-sides, while
Kay is behind the other.

Anyone hiding in the stable?
Anyone hiding under the furs in the storage pen?
Anyone up on the palisade?

Where would you like to be?
What would you like to prepare?

Big Ern will hide on the roof of one of the buildings (provided the roof will take his weight...). Maybe the stable roof, if there is a roof?

F Gnome Alchamist 2

Majet will hide in an elevated position that gives her a good view of most of the courtyard

Male Human (Kellid) Oracle 2

Agerron will pick a spot where he can hurl his spear and close to melee range in one round, if possible (so about 20' from about the center of the courtyard). Otherwise, I suppose the stables are the place he might go.

Michael said he would go inside the stable.

We can share, can't we?

Dark Archive

I'm thinking we could use a little deception to make it easier on us when they arrive. Devlin could be sitting at the far table and have Delfey acting like he's organizing things I've "purchased" to distract/anger the bandits, hopefully making it easier to close the doors before they realize they're screwed. Delfey would be wearing his cloak until combat actually starts.

Grand Lodge

I think it would be best if things looked as much like the bandits expected as possible. That way they will be less on guard and easier prey. I suggest:
- Oleg should be out to meet them with the 'tax'. He can join in or go to cover when the fighting starts.

- Svetlana can either be out with Oleg or already hiding as she prefers

- Two really good melee fighters behind the gates, my guess would be Agerron, Michael, Branomonrik, or Medvyed. Whoever stands in front of those gates is going to become the target of anyone trying to escape

- The other melee fighters can hide in the stables and guest house.

- The ranged fighters, Queslin, Majet, and Devlin by my guess, can take places on one of the roofs or palisade. Unless the bandits are particularly perceptive, we would be the ones to signal the attack.

- Queslin will be on the palisade first looking out for the bandits to arrive, then once they're spotted, hiding behind the catapult.

- We could hide Michael's cart behind the fort.

- We could have two horses saddled and ready behind the fort with Kay and Hobson watching over them. They can lead the horses to the front when combat starts in case some bandits do make it out of our trap (not to disparage their combat skills, but this will allow for maximum pc heroics while keeping the npc's useful).

My two cents.

I would suggest that he is out there to meet them, but he steps inside to get the 'tax'. Once he's inside with the door barred, the rest of the plan can begin.

Grand Lodge

As long as that's how he did it before, it should be good. Any deviation from 'normal' could set the bandits on alert.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Branomonrik could be by the gate or hidden somewhere he could snip with the crossbow. He also gets 3 spells so was thinking of taking Bane at lest, that would help us out a bit if it came to melee.

Gamemaster

Bits of clarification:

There's a roof on the stable, sturdy enough to support Big Ern.

There's enough space in the stable for all of you, if you want in.

I'm going to put Majet up the palisade, west of the gate. She can hide behind the battlement and see most of the market square from there.

Agerron could hide under the furs in the storage den, where he'd be closest to the square and still out of site, and be able to see much of it.

Talking with Oleg a bit more will get you the previous order of events as following:

The bandits ride in the gate, while Oleg waits for them next to the main house entry. Svetlana is normally in the house, behind barred doors.
The bandits dismount, taunt and threaten the Levetons, while loading the goods from the storade den on the pack-horses they bring.
Then they taunt Svetlana a bit more, threaten Oleg some more and finally ride off.

Sure can, I meant that as an answer to Sothal's question rather than a comment on your location, sorry for the confusion.

Yeah I knew that, and forgot to add my own ";-)" Sorry!

Gamemaster

Here's a preview of the battleplan.
Big Ern's position is on the roof, not in the stable, but I have no means to display that...
I used the avatar-pictures for your characters so you should be able to find yourself.
Also on the northern edge of the map, behind the palisade are Kay and Hobson with the saddled horses.

Tell me if that looks okay to you, what needs a change.
For the three PC's (and Delfey) in the market square I would need a placement.

This is also a sort of a 'show of hands' to see who's still here or not.
Haven't heard from Memento Mori in the last days for example, just checking who's in and who's gone.

Big Ern would like to be 10' further (north?) towards the 'market square', if possible. He'll lie prone until the action begins.

Grand Lodge

Queslin should be on the palisade. In the tower facing the direction the bandits are expected to come from. I plan to use the catapult to hide behind until the trap is sprung.

Okay, that compass-rose is really bad to see... North is upwards.

It's a saddle-roof, with the gable running north to south.
Would he be further east, towards the square, he would be rather plain in view.
If you want him to be there, no problem, but it would kinda take away the surprise.

@Dax: K, Queslin's on the south-eastern tower.

Here's an updated version.

Ah, if it's a peaked roof, then he'll hide behind the peak as you suggest (probably kneeling -- or the equivalent -- instead of prone).

Male Human (Kellid) Oracle 2

Looks good for Agerron.

Dark Archive

Devlin and Delfey will begin behind the Leveton's house. Devlin will cast shield on Delfey when the bandits are riding in as quietly as possible.

After that, Devlin will move along the north side (back) of the Leveton's house and wait until stuff starts happening before summoning a celestial eagle.

Delfey will move the opposite direction, and then south along the eastern wall and wait until the fun starts, then he'll charge in.

Thanks Justin.

Will put them two behind the edges of the main house.
Celestial Eagle hu?

I am in, I plan to have my 3 spears stuck in the ground next to me (inside the stable)

Open combat, hopefully with a single action surprise round by throwing a spear at the nearest bandit.

Round 2, if I win initiative I will head in drawing a sword. If I lose initiative I will be reactive to them.

I want to get to the 'Boss' and smite his arse.

I hope fully will be able to post this, but MPC me if I am not about.

No problem there.

Okay, most Players are here. I still miss Memento Mori...

I think we could fast foreward to the next morning intime and get to the action.

Gamemaster

Queslin: Instead of the Bow-shot?
Or starting the calming act in round 2?

Round 2

Gamemaster

Okay. Let me finish round 1 and the bandits action, then I'll see how much of the posted actions can still be done.

Dark Archive

male human

sorry for being a bit slow with my updates; kids have been sick and looks like I'm catching it ...

Not that it really matters, considering the rolls I'm getting! ;-)

Gamemaster

Don't worry about that Bryan. I'm pretty surprised about the current speed, to tell the truth.

Round 1 is over now.
Review your round 2 actions, if you already posted them.

Dark Archive

Btw, I just noticed an error I made in Devlin's stats. I somehow gave him the same Perception bonus as Delfey....oops....

Fixed.

Gamemaster

Majet: Which doors? The gate?
Devlin: The banditleader goes down after the first talon-hit.

Dark Archive

hehe, I'm liking this.

Gamemaster

So, that was the eagle's turn. What about Devlin and Delfey?

Who's still missing this round:
-Majet (need better description),
-Matius,
-Michael and
-Agerron.

Dark Archive

DM Sothal wrote:

Devlin didn't see the last bandit drop, so he'll continue around the back of the building. Delfey will remain standing atop the table watching for more things to kill.

Updated map!

F Gnome Alchamist 2

Since it seems to be only the horses left Majet is going to let someone more nature inclined try and calm them doewn.

Dark Archive

Devlin is in the wrong location. He should be moving along the eastern wall, not that it matters much since the bandits are down.

Gamemaster

Majet: Okay.

Justin: *confused*... "around the back of the building" I thought you meant the storage den. In front of Devlin is a paniced horse...

Behind the Leveton's house.

Devlin Medvyed wrote:

Gamemaster

Ah! I didn't see the edit...

Noone's going to help Queslin quiet the horses?

Michael will, he is also better at it, so maybe he should help me.

Big Ern doesn't like animals, and they don't like him. :-)

Gamemaster

I updated my DM profile, XP are in now.

Gamemaster

I'm gonna let Majet and Devlin work out, what happened, if she was faster and smashed the flask in the bandit's face, or if Devlin was there to prevent it.

Dark Archive

Ive already edited it all Since going through with it was probably a bit much to begin with

Okay, but how do you want to resolve the bluff of casting acid splash?

Gamemaster

Acid splash's a cantrip, so that goes without a roll. Edit: I'm going to allow 'holding the charge' on this non-touch-spell.
If Devlin wants to bluff, you should roll diplomacy.

Dark Archive

Damn nice roll Memento Mori!
