Human Paladin 3

Don loads his crossbow and nods as he advances with Lynn.


As the group approaches the building Aniva and the others move to an area between buildings seeking some cover. The store appears to be a beauty boutique, the front window is smashed into the street by a mannequin, murmuring and screaming can be heard from with in the shadowed building.

K. Planes DC 18:

The Creature is smashing everything in the shop, the dresses and clothing all have large slash marks and there is broken bits all over the floor creating difficult terrain to move through.

From somewhere else in the building you hear "Just leave, you have destroyed everything already."

"We must help those inside." Iko says firmly and slinks inside, using the shelves as cover to sneak into the store and get between the demon and the people at the back.

The Creature Squawks like a dying bird and launches a bunch of broken silverware at Iko

Broken Silverware: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The Silver Ware flies by Iko landing with a loud noise, the voice shouts from the back room.

"We are in here, that thing chased us and we have been stuck here for a day."

Iko shouts at his travelling companions "Get them out of here!" Then faces off against the creature.

Iko then charges forward drawing his Cold Iron Temple Sword and moving left to right and tries to catch the demon off balance, trying to bring him down.

Improved Trip: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15


The beast avoids Iko's trip attack, moving deftly to avoid his limb.

The Beast's head moves at Iko as well as it's two oddly large hands.

Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Claw 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 211d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The store is cramped will the debris all over, 2 people can move into attack but the ground is rough and difficult to walk on.

One of the creature's claws clips Iko on his shoulder. He retaliates in kind with two rapid attacks of his own.

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I don't see a crit, you rolled a 16+3 for a 19

Iko's blade lashes into the creature, leaving a deep wound the colour of lavender. The creature dodges Iko and Lynn's attacks, their longer blades having a tough time in the cramped and upset store.

The Demon attacks Iko again for ruining its fun.

Claw 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The Creature backs away from Iko after and out of reach of Lynn.

Lynn can advance about 5 more feet Iko can get in to the creature no problem. As I said Don and Tink can shoot through the window but SteelGate will be kept to the rear.

Lynn follows the thing to hit it again. Passing Iko if needed.

Iko sees Lynn pass by and hit the creature and backs Lynn up by moving forward and sliding between Lynn's legs and brings his own leg around to sweep the leg of the demon.

But misjudges and kicks out at air.

Iko Misses and Don's shot connects but only ruffles some slimy skin/scales on the creature, leaving a purple line across a bare shoulder.

The creature feeling the pressure of being attacked by 2 combatants sees its escape round is blocked, attempts to finish Iko off.

Blue spots a blue bit of fabric and flies into the shop, he lands and struggles to take off again with the large piece of blue silk.
Tink watched him and detects magic

My shining breastplate also has a nice effect on the creature. Not that I'm fond of seeing it in action ;)

Lynn continues to press on

but doesn't manage to complete the X on the demon's chest.


Blue flies off with the fabric, it doesn't detect as magic but there is a small button on the fabric that does have magic upon it.

Spellcraft DC 17:

It is a button of spell storing, it can store a first level spell

Lynn misses the creature in its desperation, upon noticing Lynn the creature cocks its head to the left and Screams at Lynn.

Will Save vs DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

that is a lot of 20s from the rng

Moving while the sharp end of a glaive points at you is no good idea. This is also true for this demon. And the urgency to help Iko additionally motivates Lynn to end this monster.

Lynn's vicious slash ends the beast, it bleeds purple blood all over the ground and broken debris.

"Is it safe? Did you drive it off?" The voice is of a female now that you are closer and can hear it.

Aniva and the others come into the shop as well, Horgus steering clear of the creature.

"Hmm Fine Fittings, I bought a suit here once, they did good work." Horgus comments

"Huh...uh, urk. What happened? Did we kill the demon?" Iko says thanks to Don's potion.


Ratfolk Crafter 6 (HP 63)

Tink has been murmering to blue and as the demon collapses blue flies of into the debris and starts picking up buttons. Every time he does Tink shakes his head. After half a dozen tink finally nods at Blue and the bird brings the button to him.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

"I will repair as many of your goods as I can in trade for this." he shouts to the lady

The demon is dead, you took a pretty nasty hit there.

"Driving it off is no option. We ended it." Lynn replies to the female voice. "You're lying in the demon-goo." she adds to Iko.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to stay here for the night." she tells the female.

Groaning as he rises to his feet. Iko nods agreement. "Agreed...ugh..rest...sounds good."


A haggered looking man and woman come from the back of the shop, when the door opens it only opens a bit till they see the group.

"Thank you for killing it, we had no hope and the Eagle Watch didn't come." The woman says, looking at Tink kind of strange about asking for a single button. "You can keep the button, we even have clothing in the back that wasn't destroyed."

The man comes out next, using a cane to get around. "Thank you as my wife has said, I will out fit you all with a outfit as a rewards."

As the others pile in The man notices Horgus and Aniva.

"Horgus Gwerm and Aniva Tirablade, I am glad to see you. Mr. Gwerm I have your suit ready in the back for you."

Horgus nods at the man, "I might not be needing it any time soon, I will get your payment once we reach my home. I would like to go home now, I can arrange things better from there and my Vault is safe."

Aniva perks up at home, "I also wish to get home, I have to check on Irabeth, if she isn't there she will have left something for me to know where she is going." Aniva gets a bit excited.

Aravashnial speaks up as well, "Blackwing Library is where I would like to go, there will be many things there that can help us."

The man goes into the back again, coming out with a few nice out fits for the group. 100 gp each outfits for the PC's

The man arrives at Tink, "I guess I will have to make a hole in the back for your tail to come out. As to sleeping, you are more than welcome to rest here for the remainder of the day."

"What a wonderful dress." Lynn muses with shining eyes as she receives the garment and feels the wonderful cloth it is made of.

To Horgus and Aniva she replies "We were pressing on on not much more than thin air and the hope we can make it since we met that last pair of cultists. We are all hurt and Iko here was already dying. I can understand that you want to go home right now instead of sitting here in this shop - only a short walk away from where you'd like to be."

After a pause she adds "But if your home is befallen by demons we are in no condition to clear them out anymore. I at least need a rest."

Thank you very much for your generosity. Don says to the shop keepers. Now that we see the poor condition the city is in, figuring out what to do while we take a breather is wise. Don packs away his things. Who lives closest? They can be the ones we escort first.

Ratfolk Crafter 6 (HP 63)

"So we are staying here a while?" Tink asks as he walks amongst the clothes, picking up bits that match together. He starts to pile the clothes into piles for later, clearing a bit of space.
"Any product has a price, I offered to repair what I could, and I will." Tink says as he picks a dress with a gash, sits down, and starts to slowly match the sides together, and the threads re sew themselves and tie together without seam. Mending, 10 min cantrip Mending: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Lynn looks around, grabs a broom ans starts cleaning up the shop. "It's a pity. All these beautiful things this vile creature destroyed."

"That evil thing is a fat hunchbacked, ratlike thing just without fur. Human like face, but pointy ears and overbite like a rodent. Four horns on the head. Greasy hair. Tail. And it bleeds out purple ooze." Lynn describes the thing.

"We can use some blankets to hang in front of the windows. And believe me - I'd rather stay a night at your house than in a shop - even if it's a nice one like this here. That is if your house still stands." Lynn replies to Horgus.


The lady goes into the back and pulls out a spool of large dark fabric. "Here use this, Thank master..., we didn't get anyone's names."

The Husband gives the wife a funny look, "My name is Bernerd and she is Sophie, we run this shop as Mr. Gwerm knows, we also know Miss Tirablade and her wife. Master Elf by your garb you are a member of the Rift Wardens, can we change the bandages on your eyes?"

Aravashnial touches the bandages over his eyes.

"I would rather you not, it is not something that you need to witness." Aravashnial retreats into the back room and rest.

"Call my Lynn." Lynn replies.

She grabs the remains of the demon and drags it out of the shop and besides a pile of rubble on the other side of the road. When coming back she continues to mop up the mess.

Well let us head there after we are done here. Don breaks out the iron rations. Beef jerky, yumm.

As the biggest mess is removed, the parts to repair are all stashed with Tink and the rest on a large pile Lynn unpacks her bedroll and blanket and lies down for a rest.


It is mid day by the time you are done cleaning and fixing, the couple makes a meal for everyone in the back of the store. The space is cramped as their house is further north in the city and they got stuck here during the assault.

Each of the survivors you have found wants to go home first, the couple has a map of the city and Horgus' house is the closest to where you are at present.

You can move about this area of shops if you wish to explore and see if you can find anything else, the Rend in the ground will be to difficult to traverse with the wagon, and going into the city seems the safest route because you will have buildings to hide out in.

Wake me when 8 hours are over or someone found a wand of CLW or any other way to bring all of us back to full or close to full HP. Because even if we use all the potions we have that will not be enough.
