Nah. A longspear really isn't Khaz's style. While mechanically he could use it, I don't see him having ever trained with anything like that. I see him as having trained exclusively with large, heavy weapons. Like longswords, bastard swords, axes and hammers. Things you can swing with all of your strength. A spear? He'd probably break it using it like a hammer.

Oh come on, who wouldn't want a cold iron improvised greatclub? I'm not sure if a cold iron spear is just the spearhead or an entire cold-iron shaft, but if it's the latter... :)
The problem with reach weapons is that (if you follow RAW, which I know many groups don't on this) you usually attack through cover of some kind, not to mention any other penalties of being further than 5 ft away, such as concealment in a fog/stink cloud. Divine Favor only halves the half-cover penalty and barely makes an impact on the full-cover penalty. I've been attacking at +0 with a 20% chance to miss even if I pass the enemy AC. The 1d8+5 damage with no DR would be nice...if I can get around to rolling it.
Hmm I tend to avoid Fate's Favored but that does look quite interesting...

It's actually 50% chance to miss from reach range in a stink cloud, plus being unable to see that far anyways. Claw has a 50% chance of just getting through DR. I guess I could go ILW (which bypasses DR too). Probably not much help right now, but I'll definitely rush to heal you up once it's done.

That last round truly hurt. Khaz is going to want fullplate as soon as he can afford it, as this AC17 isn't cutting it.

Oh, uhm...am I supposed to do the fort save before taking actions? Spell text isn't quite clear on that. If so I guess I'll have to keep holding the charge.

Happy that I chose max HP right now...this fight shows that I need them. If my last attack missed then I think on average I can last 2 more rounds. :p
Also does spell resistance work on the cloud?
It is a poison effect and an area not directed at you, SR only works on targeted spells.

Hello.

I know I vanished without warning. Trust me, it wasn't planned. My wife had a new medical condition flare up, and I've been going to work, doing my job, coming home, doing bothe her chores and mine, taking care of her because she's had extermely limited mobility, taking care of her service animal, covering chunks of time that she had pledged towards watching our grand-daughter, and then still trying to keep up with my existing Scouting obligations.
I was suddenly very busy.
She's been better the last couple of days, so I've built the time to craft this message and distribute it. Today she started having a reaction to the medication that was helping her be better, so that bodes poorly. She also has a procedure tomorrow that is part fo the continuum of care for her problem (as required by insurance companies), but her doctor doesn't think is actually going to address her cause. He said tha's another 3 procedures down the list, but the insurance won't approve him skipping down the list or trying multiple things in quick succession.
I want to apologize to everyone for the impact my real-life has had on your entertainment. You at least deserved to hear from me sooner, honestly.
Now you know why I vanished. And why I don't know if my availability is actually going to get any better in the short term or not.

Khaz had 20 health. He just took 23 damage. So he is at -2. Unless he received healing that I missed, in which case he is at 1HP.
Can I get a confirmation on his status before I post?
I would assume that everyone topped up, Lorena can confirm this plus you all have consumables that would have been good idea to use.

Just noticed...two potential crits from the tieflngs. Khaz might be in trouble. On a 14+ the tiefling will do an extra 1d6+1 damage against this dwarf. As he is at 1HP? Well...
...had to point it out. Live by the dice, die by the dice. Wouldn’t feel right to keep it to myself.

You'd have to ask Firinn about the topping off spell-wise, actually. I used my second-to-last spell on Carson IIRC, and specifically saved the last for an emergency (which is now used up).
Now I will just offer that I did offer earlier if you wanted to camp for the night. I would suggest it after this.

Though if the crit confirms and Khaz straight-up dies, my action will make zero sense...

Well...1 HP left. 2d6+1 damage can put him down to -12. At -14 he dies. So it would still stabilize him...but wouldn’t be a good use of resources as someone else will likely need it.
Now if he goes down to -5 or less, he would be back in the fight.

So...I’m at -7 HP. We have no spells left and are all injured. The smart thing to do might be to run. I wouldn’t hold it against the party. It’s 3v4, and Firinn’s pet is hurting bad. We could end up with a TPK.

I have an idea. If our kind DM would let you change your action too, I could change my move to the right of Firinn, heal you (up to 0) through the doorway, and then you can withdraw out of there. Then all we need is Rionnag to get out and then they've reached their goal of kicking us out of the building.

I don’t think you all can carry Khaz out. He’s...likely very heavy. We have a chance of winning this, but at the same time it could be a TPK. We got unlucky with the first round being near max damage from a boss and a rogue. Nothing that could be done about that though, even if we had all Spell slots.
So, what is everyone thinking? Should we fight this out and hope that summons can tip the scales, or call it quits?
If the party does flee, I’ll be rerolling as another paladin. A dex based one, for better initiative...

There really should be a flow chart or something for copying spells. I never thought it would be this complicated. "See this section, now see this section, if you make the roll see this section, find the table, pay the fee." Geeze. I'll be working on this.
I have never really thought about it since on my casters I do it in the background and the GM doesn't make me do the rolls, which here I won't really make you do either.
