DM Rah's "The Citadel of Flame" PFS PBP Gameday (Inactive)

This is for those players signed up for this Scenario to participate in the Official PFS Gameday.

Let's get organized.

Let's start with introductions - player and/or character. This is intended to be OOC for now so we all know what sort of party we might have and which Tier we might play in. I would prefer to save the In-Character roleplay for the Game thread.

This is Aeshuura. I will be playing Konnar, an Invulnerable Rager. Not exactly an optimized build, but fun, none-the-less.

I haven't finished updating the profile, but the character sheet is done. I need to scan two or three of his chronicles, but I can have them put in a Google Docs folder by the end of the week.

Konnar is modeled after Superboy from the newer DC comics. He was found and given a home and purpose by Grandmaster Torch, and though he was betrayed by Torch, he refuses to believe that there isn't some greater purpose that led Torch to that course of action.

He tries to live up to the spirit of what the Shadow Lodge was supposed to be. Keep his fellow Pathfinders alive.

Aeshuura, sounds good. We have time to get this all in order, so just let me know when you're updated and I'll give him a looksee. Still not sure of tier yet, but I'm hoping we'll be able to play 4-5.

I’m guessing with the use of real names in Warhorn, the GM doesn’t know every player’s alias? I used ‘Pathmaker PFS’, same as the boards here. I’ll be running Haris Hawkson, Level 3 Hedonist (and Acrobat), Sczarni.

This is John Woodford. Leonides is an L2 melee inquisitor of Arshea, and I haven't played him online yet so I have to get his profile updated. He's also something of a hedonist.

This is nightdeath also Herman.

I have a level 1 Tower Shield Fighter, the rest are currently locked in another game of they're too high level..

If there's space then I'll join in, I don't wish to pull the party down.

If I need to, I have lower level characters that I can play as well. Let me know if I need to lower the APL. ;)

Welcome Sailen! This thread HERE is an excellent primer for playing characters in PFS PBP. Right now you have an message board Alias, but I would prefer if you had an official PFS Alias (they show up green like Konnor's does. That thread explains pretty much everything.

Hello everyone!

Before we get to far I would like to give my PFS PBP GM disclaimer for how I run my games.

Characters:
I would like everyone to copy a statblock into their alias. This thread HERE explains what I mean.

Text Formatting:
-"Bold" for speech (quotes optional, but I like them)
-Italics for thoughts
-"Small"italics in quotes for whispers
-Feel free to be creative with size, language (google translator can be fun for certain languages), but try to be clear in intent. If posting in another language for roleplaying purposes, give a spoiler in English.

Dice rolls:
I am more interested in keeping momentum going and giving more time for roleplaying and action. Everyone is free to make dice rolls for their characters, but in order to keep the game moving I will roll most reactive dice, such as perception, initiative, saving throws, and certain knowledge skills (particularly creature identification). If you think I missed a roll you should have gotten, feel free to say so and make the roll yourself.

Maps:
I use google drive drawings for my maps, linked in the Campaign description at the top of the page. The maps are designed to be accessed and edited by both GM and players, so you should be able to move your own tokens and create notes right on the map.

Looks like there is one more player not yet here (listed as a caster 1 on Warhorn). I don't recognize his name, but I'll try to track him down.

With the current characters we will have to play in the lower tier. Konnar has already said he has lower level characters available, but let's discuss all options before forcing that.

Nightdeath and Mike, I'm assuming you only have 1st level characters available?

On another note, can everyone put a quick reference in the Classes/Levels field of their alias? Pascal and Konnar have examples of what I mean. Here is a template:

To be honest I have several characters but currently I only have level 1s available to play.

I have a level 3 but I'm missing 4 Chronicle sheets at this time as my GM is away.

I'll only be able to post regularly once I get back from work on the 5th October.

Nightdeath, I'm not auditing chronicles unless something looks off about your character. Please list the completed scenarios for him and that will be fine.

I have several other characters, but all are either currently tied up in other PBP games, or are listed as playing in a different PBP Gameday.

If we want to do the high tier the best I can do is a fighter 1/barbarian 1 or an Oracle 2(melee build). They're currently listed as playing in other Gameday PBPs, but I could swap them with Pascal.

I don't think that I am ready to use my cleric... Having too much trouble figuring out if I want to make him an arcane healer bard or cleric or ranger even. I wish there were more archetypes for the cleric to fit a more islander native concept. ;p

It would probably have to be my 2nd lvl summoner, if it is better to change.

It's looking pretty certain that we will play Tier 1-2.

Konnar, if you are uncertain about how to build your cleric you can always experiment with a build and rebuild him before 2nd level if you don't like it. Otherwise the 2nd level summoner would be fine.

Do we have a healer? What is our breakdown so far?

Leonides can cast CLW, and also has a CLW wand. With two fighters and a barbarian, he can spend more time healing.

This is Konnar. Haku is the cleric I was talking about. ^_^

Hopefully, I will make it easier for us to make it through alive! ;)

Haris the Acrobat is out, I'll be bringing a level 1 of I-have-no-idea right now.

Haku has the Seasons sub-domain of Weather, found in the APG, other than that, he is pretty much easy-peasy!

A quick update. While the first day of the official Gameday event is the 5th, I am going out of town for most of the first week, so I might be slow in posting for that time. For those that have not played in my games, fear not. I usually keep a good pace and I am sure we will finish well before the deadline.

Having played in a fair number of DM Rah's PFS PbPs, I can attest to that. We're probably going to wrap Tide of Morning in about two weeks; started it on September 18, and have almost finished it. With six players and not pushing the pace, we got through all of Thornkeep Level 2 in about six weeks. But it's not coming at the expense of depth or degree of coverage.

Tide of Morning could be done in as little as 1 or 2 days actually.

Awesome, I look forward to it. I tend to post pretty actively, though one thing I'm concerned with is not being notified when new posts are made.

Is there a way I can 'subscribe' to this thread so I get email notifications each time there is a new post?

I haven't tried to use it, but in the top RH corner of the page there's an icon that in theory is an RSS feed for recent posts to the thread.

Pascal, under your primary Alias there should be a "Campaign" tab. Any campaign in which you have made at least one post in the "Gameplay" thread should show up there with a list of connected threads that should indicate the number of new posts made since you last viewed the thread.

I haven't converted this to a campaign yet, so I don't have a gameplay thread to post in, but I will do that soon.

Hi guys i am the other player, i normally play on Mythweaver which has the best PBP support on the net IMO. I am looking at 1st level since i dont have any character. Right now looks like there is no sneaky guy so i will make a 1st level rogue that will dip into divine caster at some point.

Note - there is a 7th player listed as an alternate on Warhorn. I am not going to run a 7 player scenario.

Also, for those that haven't done so yet, I would like a copy of your characters in your alias description with a quick reference in the "class/levels" field. THIS POST explains what I mean and offers good advice for players using the paizo site for PbP games.

Welcome wrathgon, I'm on MW too since launch and its DNDOG predecessor. I sometimes create long posts in MW and copy/paste here. The keyboard format feature is real nice.

The game is here. Warhorn is just organizing tables.

Use the suggested format for the quick reference. You can add more if you like, but try not to overcrowd it.

If i take the Chameleon alt class for rogue, it says

At 1st level, a chameleon begins her career knowing that the secret to disappearing lies in deceiving the senses of her observers. Every day she gains a pool of stealth points equal to her ranks in Bluff. These points refresh at the start of each day. Before making a Stealth check, she can choose to put stealth points into the roll, gaining a bonus on Stealth checks equal to the number of stealth points she puts into the roll.

If she gains a bonus on Bluff checks because of a feat (such as Skill Focus [Bluff ]), she adds a number of points to her stealth pool equal to the bonus the feat grants.
This ability replaces trapfinding.

Wary Many trait( half-elves have spent their long lives moving from place to place, often driven out by the hostility of others. Such experiences have made them wary of others' motivations. Half-elves with this trait gain a +1 racial bonus on Sense Motive and Bluff checks. This racial trait replaces the keen senses racial trait.)

Do i add the point to my pool or not?

man this board is so much more basic than i am used it, going to take some time to get use to it here.

I don't think the spellthief is PFS-legal, but I may be missing something.

The main advantage of the Paizo boards for me is that they aren't blocked at work (yet), unlike Myth Weavers or Obsidian Portal.

Not sure about adding the trait bonus to the chameleon's stealth pool. It's a pretty weak ability, so my gut is to say ok.

Who mentioned spellthief? I don't see it in any posts.

Wrathgon, can you create an official PFS alias and quick reference for your character?

There's an RSS feed option, though I've never used it. See the icon up in the upper right corner of the page. Once the actual game play thread goes live, after you've posted in it once it'll appear on your Campaigns page, and new post alerts will show up there.
