M Dwarf Urban Ranger 1

After having waited quite some time, Balta slowly walks to the very edge of the door and angles his small mirror around it to better gauge the situation. Ready to charge upon first sight of hostilities, or discovery of his location.

So here is what I told you guys about this weekend.

Spoiler:
Hey, all!

About six weeks ago we passed a significant milestone. As of September 1st, Super Genius Games had been producing the content and managing the website for Dungeonaday.com for one full year. We didn't make a big deal out of it publicly. We were in the midst of dealing with problems with SubHub and executing long-planned revisions to the site, and it just didn't seem like the right time to start banging the drums and popping champagne corks.

But it WAS a good time for us to sit down with "the books" and see exactly how the year had fared from several perspectives--number of subscribers, traffic at the site and our social media hubs, and (of course) financial statements. In the past six weeks we've given all of these things a thorough going through, and I have to be honest with you ... the news was not good on any front. The number of subscribers is down across every category, web traffic is holding steady at a the moment but (understandably) also down with the drop in subscribers, and let's just say that no one is planning a Hawaiian holiday on the profits generated by the site.

I'll be frank and say that the viability of continuing the site under this current model is not clear. At this point, we're taking the information we've gathered and holding it up next to our current business model and previously announced plans and finding that the two do not synching well. Because we don't know what the long term plans are, we've temporarily disabled the ability for new customers to get annual or quarterly subscriptions--only the monthly option is available for the moment. This won't affect any current subscribers, and once we figure out what the future does hold, new monthly subscribers will be able to upgrade their memberships, if they so choose.

Right now, we're engaged in a new phase of brainstorming and planning, to find out what is feasible, what is not, and whether the end result is a product that lives up to the name and history of Dungeonaday.com. In order to do this right, we have to take our time ... and we're determined to do this right. And part of "right" is keeping the subscribers informed as we move through this tricky situation.

You can expect updates from us regularly ... that is, as regularly as there is anything substantive to say. (One of the maddening things about this kind of thing is much of it consists of long data gathering periods before any number crunching can actually be done.)

In the meanwhile, Dungeonaday.com rolls on. We're moving into the second half of the Night of the Starbird mini-adventure, and after that we'll begin a longer adventure by Rich Redman called Temple of the Black Goat.

Sorry to be the bearer of less-than-glad tidings but, as I said, we think it's important to keep an open and honest communication going with you, the subscribers. We'll continue to do that and, hopefully, next time we'll have a more cheerful message to share.

Not really sure what to do about it. I'm probably going to cancel my sub though. I don't want to keep paying for it, only to have it get canceled in two months. If we've gotta restart, it might as well be now, while we don't have a huge amount of time invested in it. I've got a bunch of modules and adventure paths that we can do.. Let me know what you guys think.

Well I really think whatever is easiest for you. We really only have entered one room as of right now. ALSO i like this pbp thing. it would seem less stressful. Because we as players seem to give alot more to the movement of the adventure then in a normal tabletop. so really im up for just starting over thing. why stress over something we have no chance of changing?

second. well said.

agreed

Okay, cool. I guess we've just got to figure out what to play next.
