I am interested in getting back into pbp. I have played once in the past maybe a year or two ago, so I have some experience but that game petered out fairly quick. I can post multiple times/day 7 days/week. If I am not deemed too experienced I will build a Inquisitor for the game.
Thanks for your time.

martinaj |

How much non-experience are you looking for? I've played in a few PbPs, but the vast majority of them have fallen apart after the first month or two. I'm in one somewhat steady game now, and would love to pick up a second if you'll have me.
I don't want to draft up anything too specific until I know whether or not my application would even be valid, but I've had a premise for a CotCT character in mind for a while now. Not sure what the class would be - likely a wizard or a magus, though it could be nearly anything. All I know is that he's visiting from Magnimaar (or MAYBE Egorian in Cheliax), trying to find out what happened to his cousin, who was a student at the Acadamae. His family received a letter last month mentioning a man named Lamm, and they've not heard from him since.

Twigs |

Very interested. Had to turn down the last game I got into thanks to uni work, but I do all of my procrastinating here so I'm avaliable pretty regularly. East Coast Aussie (GMT+10) however, but my response time shouldnt be too bad. Let me know if it's a problem however.
Seeing as we've got a potential wizard and rogue, I'll happily play a fighter or a bard.

DM Hector |

The whole PbP novices was just to let people know that I'm open to helping out inexperienced players. I'm not turning down anyone with too much experience.
If you're all interested, seven sounds like a fine party size for me (it's how many are in the other PbP I play in). I'll start up the discussion thread so you guys can start bouncing around character ideas.

Very good answer,
a little too vague for the lawyer in me though.

Funny since I'm in law school... Hence the intentional vagueness.

DM Hector |

I would rather have players who weren't intimately familiar with the story, but as it's a rather popular AP (as well as one that's been out for some time now), I understand how that might be a little difficult.
As I've gotten more attention than I (somewhat foolishly it seems) thought I would, how about those who decide that they do want in to post their character rough for me to decide. Class, race, archetype if you want one, and basic concept should be sufficient at this stage.

Titus Darunde |

Even with the gray hood covering his head, It is easy to see the scars on this pale skinned Chelaxian mans face as he seats himself next to you in the darkened rear booth. This is definitely the man you have been waiting for.
Holding out his hand, the stranger speaks, "Titus Darunde, Bounty Hunter. I hear you may be able to get me some information on these men." Titus lays several wanted posters on the table. As you silenty nod, sipping your ale, Titus continues, "Those who break the laws of this city must face justice." Titus slides several gold coins onto the table and pushes them towards you, "Keep your ears sharp for word on any of my bounties, and if you ever hear of one Gaedren Lamm, there'll be more coin for you."
What's the worst event of your life so far?
Finding out his father was a drug addict and then losing his father when their manor was torched by the drug dealer for failure to pay debts.
Do you stay in contact with your family?
Titus' father squandared the family fortune on a drug addiction, and then died when his drug dealer burned their manor down because he hadnt paid his debts. Titus was scarred in the fire, and barely escaped with his life. Although he managed to save his mother from the fire, she passed away soon after in despair, leaving Titus on his own.
What's the best thing that's ever happened to you?
Meeting Garrickus Ulunstar as a depressed young teen while breaking into Garrickus' house. Garrickus saved Titus from his destructive spiral of despair and self loathing and gave him a purpose in life.
How did you acquire your class?
Apprenticed to Garrickus Ulunstar an old Korvosan Bounty Hunter.
How did you assemble your starting equipment?
Titus sold the few small heirlooms his family had left to buy his starting equipment.
How do others perceive you in social interactions?
Titus is perceived as very focused, and driven, not one for idle chatter. His demeanor is gruff, and all business.
How assertive are you when making a decision?
When Titus makes a decision he is all in.
How do you feel when faced by setbacks?
Any current setbacks matter little when compared to the trials he has survived in his past.
Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you?
In the time after his parents died, and before he met Garrickus, Titus broke into noble and merchant houses on a regular basis to support himself. He regrets his actions then, and fears it may come back to haunt him.
How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city?
Titus has lived in Korvosa all of his life. In his youth his family lived in The Heights, later Titus lived on his own in Old Korvosa.
What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa?
Titus believes that the government has let small gangs and criminal enterprises go unchecked for too long. He feels that many of those lower tier criminals are slipping through the hands of justice, and he aims to do something about it, one bounty at a time.
What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm?
Revenge, and a desire for Justice drive Titus' hunt for Gaedren Lamm.

I swear I can control myself with the meta-game. And I've changed so much of the original adventure path, including every NPC's name, I might not even know what is coming!
CG worshiper of Desna Witch of Ancestors Green Widow Changeling if you allow it, Half-Orc if you don't.
-How did you acquire your class?
My grandmother was secretly a hearth witch, and when she died, as I cleaned her house, her old familiar, a Bat named Alisha, flew down from the rafters, ceiling, attic. I thought it was some wild bat who was attacking me, but then I felt my grandmother's spirit comforting me, and teaching me her ancient secrets, techniques, ways.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment?
Most, if not all of it, I gained from what my grandmother left me, myself, Trio. My Holy Symbol of Desna and Starknife I got from Teldorn. (I'm not sure what her starting equipment would be yet)
-What's the worst event of your life so far?
The night Gaedren Lamm killed my brother and gave me my curse of three-speech, a night I will never forget, consign to oblivion, let slip from memory.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you?
The night that Teldorn, a follower of Desna, taught me about the butterfly goddess, and gave me hope for the future, my destiny, the path that lay before me.
-How do others perceive you in social interactions?
Even thought I am (I've been told) quite beautiful, people sometimes react with fear or jealousy when they meet me, because of my red eyes and green skin, hide, flesh. However, I am quite outgoing, and most who meet me like me, myself, this gal here.
-How assertive are you when making a decision?
Very assertive, aggressive, confident. Little can dissuade me from my path, decision, choice.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks?
Angry, Frustrated, Peeved.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you?
My only living relative is a younger brother, whom I now call Solo, who was one of Gaedren's little lambs and has since become a slimy thief, who thinks only of himself, thus, I have named him Solo, Solitary, Loner. Me, my, mine mother and father both died sometime ago now. I still visit my mother, older brother, and grandmother's graves, but my father, pa, pop? *Spits* May he burn for his sins, debts, evil ways.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you?
Well, there is my curse, which I’ll talk about in three more questions, inquiries, query. My brother Solo sometimes leaves my name to his debtors, and they chase me down looking for money, or worse, something else, another thing entirely. Teldorn was my first love, but travels with a caravan as their fortune teller, seer, clairvoyant. I, me, myself, knows not where she is now. (Trio also doesn’t understand that she is a changeling, should you allow that race, and doesn’t know that she was adopted by her parents at her grandmother’s insistence. If half-orc, then forget all that, her parents were half-orcs.)
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city?
I live in a studio apartment in Bridgefront, located in the Old Korvosa district, area, quarter. I get to my residence through flight, flying, levitation. I serve the members of the community as a maid, nursemaid, and healer, selling my potions when they can afford the cost, price, fee. I have lived in Korvosa since I was born, alive, created. I was raised in Bridgeport, and spent my years after Gaedren Lamm’s enslavement living in Old Dock, Wharf, Pier. Thank Desna and Teldorn that those years are far behind me now, currently, at present. (If she is a half-orc, she won't be flying to her residence, as I intend to take Pass for Human instead. If she is a Changeling, I'm taking Extra Hex)
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa?
What do you mean, insinuate, imply? One, Someone, This witch hopes that you are not saying something nasty about the great and wonderful city that is Korvosa! Why, Case in point, Understand this, the Gateway to Varisia isn’t some rathole like Riddleport! Damn them and damn you for your implications! Long live King Eodred, and damn the whore queen Ileosa, who has called our city a backwater village, hamlet, community! He needs to find someone who’ll do her wifely duty and produce an heir, successor, inheritor!
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm?
My father loved to shake, if you catch my meaning, gist, connotation? And when he ran out of money to keep shaking, he sold me and my brothers as slaves to Lamm, to get a little loan for some more shiver, drugs, smack. Well, when he sold my mother to Lamm not a week later, to be sold as a sex slave, me and my older brother Daichi tried to kill Lamm and the man purchasing my mum, mother, mom. Gaedren sliced my brother’s head off, and the man who was purchasing mother took out a broken wand and fired it at me. Apparently, it was supposed to do something else, because the man got furious and told Lamm that he wasn’t going to purchase anymore broken products, and when Lamm asked what he was talking about, the man tried shooting Lamm, but Lamm moved my mother in front of the blast and it killed her! I can’t remember how it all played out from there, but I can remember trying to escape, and Lamm beating me until I couldn’t move…and when I awoke sometime later, I was in a trash heap, left for dead.
Edit: Here is a picture I commissioned long ago of Trio, an old favorite of mine

Alright, more to follow later, but for now, my submission is a LN human magus (possibly with the staff magus archetype, but still uncertain). He comes from a wealthy Chelaxian family with a long (for Cheliax) history of service to the state. Most of his family either studied at Egorian's prestigious academy, served in the military, or joined the Hellknights. This last route was the path chosen by my my character - he was training to become a Hellknight signifier. His cousin (also his best friend) had always had a more independent streak, though, and had chosen (much to the family's disapproval) to leave Cheliax to study abroad. He chose Korvosa due to its similarities to his home, and was accepted to the Academae. My character continued to correspond with him, but in recent months, it seems that my impressionable and adventurous young cousin had gotten involved in events beyond his experience. I'd received several worried letters mentioning debts, favors, and a man named Lamm, but they were vague and cryptic. I haven't heard from him in over a month now, and after several restless nights, I've decided I must abandon my training, for now, and find out what's happened to him. My family doesn't approve of course, and if it were anyone else, I'd leave them to whatever they've gotten themself into, but my cousin has been my best friend since we were children, and I can't turn my back on him when everyone else has. I know I'll regret this decision, and when I find that cousin, I intend to give him a thorough thrashing for putting me in this position, but I'll never again rest easy unless I find out what's befallen him.

Twigs |

Hmm... I'm rather torn between a half-elf fighter or gnome bard. The former is stemming from the realisation I've never played a capital 'h' Hero before. The latter from my GM writing both gnomes and bards out of his setting, easily my two favourite classes. Browsing through the traits, they seem a bit awkward for a travelling gnome. I'd happily tie him to another party member if need be.
No, looking above it seems a fighter would be a better choice. More as I wake up a bit.

Aeleanor Asaaru |

I have a Drow rogue, and my friend has an elven wizard ready. Let us know if you are interested. Both of us are new to the PBP and D&D worlds. We are currently in a game but are looking for more.
Aeleanor the Drow has just arrived in Korvosa after fleeing her homeland and knows nothing of the politics there. She has no connections or interactions with Gaedren Lamm Yet. If you would like, I can add a section after where my background leaves off where Aeleanor is living in Korvosa, but I think it might be interesting to have her completely new to the city.
Here is her background:
Preview:
Aeleanor has dark blue skin and a shock of snow-white hair in keeping with her Drow heritage. She is slender and quick, and as deadly with a blade as she is with her tongue. She is quiet and reserved, and generally travels alone, keeping to the shadows. The suffering in her past is manifest in her eyes, and though she seems to want company, she generally keeps herself distanced from others. She is a staunch advocate for civil rights and opposes monarchy and repression of the common people.
Early life to present:
Aeleanor is the daughter of a long line of Drow nobles, the Asaaru clan. Though fair and much admired as a promising noble-in-training, she never felt comfortable in the society and found herself isolated by her different temperament. Her mother introduced her to the children of other powerful Drow families, but she was uninterested in their plotting and competitive nature.
She spent much of her childhood sneaking out of her manor-house and into the slums and back alleys of Unterdahli, the subterranean city of her upbringing. There she met many Muhrg, the common Drow and slaves of other races that were second-class citizens at best and rarely had the chance to advance themselves in society except through murder and conniving. A Muhrg would occasionally be born with special powers that would allow them entrance into the Noble class, but they were not readily accepted and were often killed when recognized as special. Because of this, those born with special powers often killed their parents to hide their lowly birth and worked their way into the noble class through murder and deceit.
Aeleanor was fascinated by different people and in the innocent curiosity of her youth, she explored outside the Noble district. Despite her mother's admonitions and derision for the Muhrg, she continued to return to the lower levels of the city and society and became well-known among them.
A natural leader, Aeleanor drew talented Muhrg children to her and formed a small band. They explored the caves and tunnels near the city and went on adventures into the underdark, many of which they barely escaped alive from. This group of close friends included Kahlii, Rubin, Gruutzi, and Khemal.
When her mother found she had been consorting with Muhrg, she beat Aeleanor and locked her in her room for a week before finally letting her out and immediately enrolling her at an institute for the education of Drow nobles. She did poorly, and learned more of subterfuge and deceit than anything else. She received classical combat training there, but never felt that it was right to subjugate her own people using these skills. She did not believe their ruthless teachings of supremacy and how to control and extort those less intelligent or fortunate.
One day, during a lecture about etiquette and how Nobles were expected to act towards Muhrg, she spoke out against the instructors and was subjected to persecution and was inspected for expulsion from the institute and into the Muhrg. It was only by her mother's strategic exertion of favors and power that she was allowed to return back to the school.
She quickly learned to control her emotions and hide her dangerous thoughts. However, she continued to meet with her small band of Muhrg friends, and she began teaching them what she learned in the institute they were not even allowed to view. She taught them from her books and trained them to fight with traditional Drow weapons as she herself learned.
She became a prodigious fencer and she was well on her way to becoming a powerful member of the matriarchal society. Aeleanor did all that was expected of her, and did well in all disciplines, including magic. She danced as well, and this brought her recognition and acceptance from the Noble community. She no longer opposed the matriarchs openly, but she was becoming more and more jaded, and outraged as she watched her friends devour what she taught them. They were learning just as quickly as the Noble children, and were already comparable fighters.
As she matured, Aeleanor and her friends began exploring further, including into the deeper parts of the world and even to the surface. There, she acquired philosophical texts by human scholars who emphasized egalitarianism and altruism, two concepts that she had been nursing but had not yet formulated into fruitful thoughts. She shared these with her Muhrg friends and they, too found these texts to be a legitimization of their plight and struggle towards liberation and equality.
She and her friends were now almost adults, and Aeleanor was close to gaining the full status of citizen. They felt that they could no longer bear the injustice and inequality of the society, and formed a group called the ]Muhrg Liberation Front. They organized secret basement meetings to teach Muhrg to think and to fight. They passed on the gospel of equality and civil rights, and they rapidly gained popularity among the Muhrg. In fact, it grew too much, and soon, the entire Muhrg population knew of this secret union.
Soon, the Drow matriarchy began to notice a restlessness in their slaves and subordinates that did not at all sit well with them. There were whispers in the streets and rumors of rebellion flew. Through extortion, bribes, and torture, the matriarchy traced the Liberation Front back to its roots and came for the leaders: Aeleanor and her friends; Kahlii, Rubin, Gruutzi, and Khemal.
Though they had feared discovery, they had no idea how sudden it would be and how swift the retribution of the nobles would be exacted. Rubin and Gruutzi were caught by the nobles, and gruesomely publicly executed as Aeleanor, Kahlii, and Khemal watched from the shadows.
They packed their belongings and disappeared into a city of enemies. Their knowledge of the city and its back-ways from their early adventuring days served them well, and they were able to make it to the main gate. Here, their plan failed. The half-mile stone bridge to the city that spanned over a chasm of unknown depth was lined with guards up and down, with orders to take them alive or dead.
They had no way out and they would surely be killed if they stayed. Aeleanor, Kahlii, and Khemal waited for the guards to change shifts, then scaled down the city wall and climbed on narrow ledges to the underside of the bridge. They then climbed along the bottom of the bridge until they reached the other side.
Exhausted, they clambered up to the landing only to find a platoon of guards waiting for them. Khemal took a poisoned crossbow bolt to the chest and fell backwards over the precipice, screaming and flailing his arms. Khalii and Aeleanor fought bravely with magic, fire and steel, but there were simply too many guards. Though Khalii had never been particularly skilled at the magic arts, he surprised Aeleanor. Suddenly, he stopped fighting and grasped his sword in both hands, then sank it into his own chest. With an emanating blast of pure energy, the entire platoon was knocked back and unconscious. Khalii sank to his knees and turned to Aeleanor, who stood unaffected by the magic but unable to speak for wonder and shock.
"Take the sword..." he said as blood filled his mouth.
"...I......I love you..."
With that, he pulled the sword from his body and fell to the ground, dead.
With guards pounding across the bridge towards her and the fallen platoon starting to regain consciousness, she snatched the sword from his still-warm hands. She ran towards the surface with tears in her eyes and the poisoned bolts of her own people whistling over her head.

Presenting my answers to your questions for Marcus Ignatius.
-How did you acquire your class?
I learned the fundamental skills of my craft during my training as a signifier in the Hellknight Order of the Scourge. I'm equally adept in spell-based or martial combat, and skilled in small unit tactics.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment?
It was a gift from my family upon my acceptance into the Order. As it turns out, I've had little occasion to use it, as all we need during training is provided for us. Having left my Order, though, I've found need to dust it off.
-What's the worst event of your life so far?
The day my cousin left for Korvosa. He was my best friend growing up, a bit of an idealist to temper my own hard realism. He's a fool, but I can't help but admire that part of him. He was always a reminder of what I was trying to protect. It was hard when he left, and for a while, I think I lost a better part of myself, though maybe that will change when we're re-united in Korvosa. If he's still alive...
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you?
The proudest day of my life was when I was accepted into the Order of the Scourge. Serving the betterment of Cheliax, and the larger world, has always been the duty of my family. Leaving them was difficult, but not impossible. I've always sought to bring order to the world so that others might flourish. I've made sacrifices, but all for the greater good. Sometimes, it felt like the Order was a bit radical for my tastes. Maybe the Order of the Nail will more amiable?
-How do others perceive you in social interactions?
I keep a civil tongue, but that's the extent of social concessions I'm willing to make. I've been called cool at times, blunt at others, but in the end I don't have time for nonsense. I speak my mind as politely as I'm able, and I wish more people would follow suit. Those who are righteous have no need to lie, except as a stratagem. That tells me that when someone lies to me, they're either a villain or I'm part of their scheme.
-How assertive are you when making a decision?
Very. I like to act quickly and directly. In battle, hesitation means death, and I see no reason I shouldn't act with the same resolve in other situations. My instructors alternately praised and condemned my directness, and several of them told me my greatest weakness was my shortsightedness. I have a great mind for tactics, but usually on a small, immediate scale, and my mentor once said that while I'm winning the battle I'm likely to loose the war.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks?
Frustrated, but I try not to linger on them. To do so is a waste of time, energy, and resources. I may gripe and I may moan, but withing five minutes I'll be looking for a solution. Move always forward, that's what I say!
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you?
My family and I are not on speaking terms right now, and aren't likely to be again anytime soon. They weren't pleased with my decision to leave the Hellknights, but I had to do what I felt was right. It's difficult to accept, but with certain bridges burned and not much to my name, I don't really have a home to go home to. Korvosa will probably become my residence for the foreseeable future. They say it's a lot like Cheliax, though, so maybe it won't be so bad...
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you?
I wonder sometimes if I really ever belonged in Cheliax. I love having an ideal to forge to, and I really do believe that fostering order in the world makes it a better place for all within. I do not tolerate criminals or those who would sow chaos, but from time to time, there is a shred of sense in their rants against "tyranny." I am committed to my path, but now and again I find myself wondering what my life would be like, what ideals I would have found, had I been born elsewhere.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city?
I've been here only a week. I've been staying at an inn in what the locals call the Midlands. I'll have to take up a more permanent residence soon, but for now, I need to focus on finding this Lamm fellow and my cousin.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa?
I suppose it isn't really my affair, as I'm not actually a citizen, but the dissent seems baseless. For now, Eodred seems to have things under control, and if this is anything like Cheliax, then a fussy and petulant queen like Illeosa is sure to have a more competent magistrate pulling her strings once she takes charge. I try to stay out of politics - it's in the streets and the trenches that I can make a difference.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm?
Whatever business he has with my cousin he'll have to take up with me. I don't know much of this man, but what I have learned since arriving is not too flattering. When I find him, he may well have to be brought to justice regardless of his connection with my kin. In the absence of consequences, all men will become criminals...
As far as crunch goes, I really hate to draft an alias until I'm certain I'll use it, but Marcus will be a Human Magus with the Staff Magus archtype. He focuses on spellcasting and melee control, using spells for damage and his quarterstaff (and the Combat Expertise feat groups) to keep enemies on their toes. Due to a high int (and being human) he'll have quite a few skill points, and will cross-class several skills to make him an acrobatic fighter, with modest abilities in social situations.

Here is the answers to your questions. Hope it sounds all ok.
How did you acquire your class?
Dad was a “Finder”, a person who was hired to locate lost or stolen items. Quite often it was a simple job of touring the local pawn shops, or putting word on the street that a specific item, or person, was being sought. Other times it took a great deal of working the streets to find leads and following them all to their conclusion.
How did you assemble your starting equipment?
Most of my gear was inheritated from my father, at least the masterwork ‘Thieves’ Tools’ were. Most of the other items were purchased with money from work, a little bit at a time over the last 2 years. Last last item purchased was a used, but still very serviceable rapier. It, and a few lessons, were the payment from a recent client.
What's the worst event of your life so far?
My best friend, and workmate, Seris Tak, a warrior and my personal protector became addicted to Shiver. It was a few months until I realized the signs, and by that time it was too late. I found him in an alley, dead. Using all my skills as a Finder, I traced the drug back to a Gaedren Lamm. He will pay for taking my friends life!!
What's the best thing that's ever happened to you?
Starting my own Finder business. I still remember my first case. It was noting too difficult, but when I received my payment for a job well done, well there was no greater feeling to take the money home, lay it on the table and see the look of pride on my father’s face. I will always remember that day.
How do others perceive you in social interactions?
Most people only come to me when they are in trouble. And many quickly want to forget me as soon as that trouble is over. A Finder can end up in many tight situations, and being able to talk oneself out of a tight bind is standard. Making the client feel you are the person for any job is key in landing a case.
How assertive are you when making a decision?
Hehe..well usually I am very assertive, however only for those things that really mean something to me, otherwise I do not really care. It might sound a bit mercenary, but in my line of work you don’t stick your neck out for no one...unless the retainer is good!!
How do you feel when faced by setbacks?
Well tomorrow is another day, as my father would always say. Sure it can be frustrating to track a lead for a few days and have it go nowhere, but thats part of the game. If you can’t take the bad with the good, well maybe this kind of business is not for you.
Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you?
Yeah. Its just dad and me, so not too much of a family. Mom, so I’m told, is living in the Mierani Forest, so I have only seen her once or twice. Dad doesn’t talk about it much, but I think she was the daughter of someone he did some work for, but, like I said, he doesn’t like talking about it.
Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you?
Well that is a kind of personal question! Listen, in my line of work you sometimes step on toes. So yeah, there are a few crooked-nosed individuals who might like to see me hurt. Some even work for the Families, if you catch my drift. But let’s face it. I am small potatoes to most of those sharks. It’s the local gangs you have to watch out for.
How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city?
Well I have lived here all my life. And, ummm..you’re at my house here on Baker Street, so I suppose you know where I live.
What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa?
Truth be told, I could care less. There will always be poor and rich. We try to scratch out an exsistance and those stronger take from us what they want. The only way you get change is becoming more powerful. And how do you do that? By taking advantage of those around you. No sir, I like what I do and unfortunately I do not thing anything will change any time soon.

Here is Korg Duthelm, Inqusitor. Well at least its his background. I will put the full summary behind spoiler tags and give you the quick summary here.
Korg was the epoch of dwarven success, a powerful cleric of Torag a hero of his people. A crack commando entrusted with only the most dangerous of missions for the church. His final mission left him trapped by a spirit of hate that slowly tortured his very essence away. Stripping him of all that he was and leaving him a hollowed out shell, a shadow of the man he was. Self-exiled from his peoples lands he found himself living in the shanties of Korvosa, Shingles where he was a drug addicted wretch struggling for a way to get his next fix. A vision during one such drug induced dream included a visit from Dranngvit who gave him a new purpose in life as a champion of vengeance. This quest starts with the pusher that so often fixed him a petty crime lord named Gaedren.
Ok here is the full long story, I will include a character sheet if I am included in the game, or if I have time tomorrow.
Eventually he was given a squad of his own. His unit received numerous awards, and after a short ten years he began to rise in the ranks of his people, bringing great honor to his family. He became a commando of sorts, sent out to deal with the enemies of the Dwarven people, he toured the dwarven lands throughout the inner-sea region, always victorious in his endeavors always the champion.
Until five years ago.
His final mission was an expedition into the under-realms below the Hold of Belzken to recover an artifact of dwarven antiquity lost during the quest for sky. His team, his companions penetrated deep into the earth destroying an uncountable number of orcs and other foul minions before arriving at a point beyond any they had maps for. A region uncharted on any modern map and obviously shunned by the orcs and the other creatures from above. They traveled for near a week going deeper and deeper without seeing any signs of life, all they perceived was a steady feeling of unease and terror that ate away at their vary souls. One by one they were overcome by a psychotic ailment that caused dwarf to turn on dwarf, in the end only Korg survived the brutal infighting, so strong was his will and his love for Torag. In those final days as he arrived at his goal the Maker’s Anvil, rumored to be Torag’s anvil from time before time. He had but the strength to lie atop it and cry, success was his, or so he thought.
For lurking in the ancient dark recesses of these once great halls was an entity, a spirit, a composite of all the trapped dwarven souls, souls of those that were left behind those that could not achieve the sky, those that were never interned properly. It was a spirit of hatred of contempt for the living and chiefly the dwarven living. It easily overcame Korg and trapped him in a phsycic prison where it tortured him daily over the next year. Slowly bit by bit removing every part of him that he held dear but never allowing him to perish, the creature drained the very essence of Korg away, and once almost every last semblance of dwarven life was drained the final and greatest torture was bestowed. It let him live. Depositing him in a tunnel that led back to his homeland it let him go.
Korg was drained of all his abilities, all his memories, of the histories of the dwarves, their fights and their struggles it was all gone. Or mostly, bits remained fragments of memories haunting echoes of the man he was once and would never be again. When he was found naked and struggling through the caves by a band of dwarven soldiers he was taken back to Kovlar the nearest dwarven city.
He was nearly unrecognizable, he had left as the epitome of a dwarven hero, and returned a wretch whose mind was shattered, he was eventually recognized and the greatest healers could do nothing to return him to his previous stature. In the end he was interned in a hospice, to live out his days. The great pride his father had in him eventually turned to sorrow at the loss of his once great son, and eventually to shame. Korg escaped the hospice care, still mad as a loon he fled the dwarven lands and all the ghosts of memories that lingered there. He lived the life of a vagabond until one day he found himself in Korvosa a denizen of shingles, the lowest of the low, living day to day by begging and stealing, an addict whose drug of choice was shiver. When he was high he could recall more of who he was, he would dream of the things he had done, the people he had known and the people he could call his own, but sadly these memories were retained only on a primal level when he came to.
It was during this time that he had a dream and in this dream the bitter goddess Dranngvit came to him she offered him the chance of redemption the chance to make things right, so her brother Torag had forsaken him, it was within her power as the goddess of vengeance to make him whole again, all he needed to do was to put his faith in her, to fight her enemies, to remember who he was. Not some drug addled destitute wretch but a man, a dwarven man, a creature of will and fortitude a creature of strength.
She rekindled the fire that all but died in his soul replacing the vacume with a furnace of vengeance, and a purpose. In the following weeks he kicked his habit and has become obsessed with ridding the streets of the pusher that so often fixed him, a petty crime lord named Gaedren.
-How did you acquire your class? Korg’s class draws on abilities he once had as a cleric before he was energy drained back to level 0. Detailed in background. He became an Inquisitor at the call of Dranngvit, dwarven god of vengeance, detailed in background.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment?
Scraped together as he put his life back together, working hard long hours.
-What's the worst event of your life so far?
The loss of his previous life, the essence of who he was, all his experiences having his cultural awareness and history stripped from him.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you?
The only good thing he can remember, besides the memories delivered to him when he was high on shiver is the moment that Draangvit entered his life and gave him a purpose.
-How do others perceive you in social interactions? Cold, distant and a bit crazy initially, upon further inspection Korg shows his righteous side, a dedication to his goddess and her call for vengeance.
-How assertive are you when making a decision? Korg is driven by an inner fury that helps him see the right decision and act on it. I would say he can be very assertive, but not without consideration of others he respects.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks? Furious, Korg has delt with more setbacks then maybe any other man and when balked today in his new life it infuriates him, causing him to ruminate and dwell on the issue and possible solutions.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you? Korg is ashamed of all that he has lost, and for the most part can’t remember it anyway. He has glimpses of memories of his proud father and his siblings but much of that is lost in his shattered mind.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you? Background is full of them.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city? 2.5 years all of it in Shingles.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa? Korg sees Korvosa as the pinnacle of the rich living off the struggles of the poor. If he was not so obsessed with his own inner demons, he could become a champion of the people.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm? Gaedren Lamm was Korg’s pusher, for the entire time he has been here. Now he tops Korg’s list. Korg’s efforts today are entirely focused on paying back the wretched criminal Lamm for the drugs he peddles and the lives he has ruined.

Lokio |

Want to toss in my character for consideration: an as-of-yet unnamed Elf paladin (divine hunter) of Erastil.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment? She managed to hang on to a little coin after getting away from Gaedren, and the church of Abadar showed her how to manage it and turn it into what she has today. Some of the first things she bought after striking out on her own are the tools she uses to enact justice.
-What's the worst event of your life so far? The day her "sister" died. Gaedren fed her to the alligator.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you? The job when she found the holy symbol of Erastil. Not only did it lead her to her calling, but it also lead to her being beaten so badly Gadren assumed her dead and through her out.
-How do others perceive you in social interactions? Aloof. Like other Forlorn, she hides a deep depression which is often perceived by others as typical elven disinterest.
-How assertive are you when making a decision? Compromising. Though driven, she has a long history of being told what to do that is hard to break. While acquiescing to the choices of the group, she sticks to her guns and has no problem reminding them of what her thoughts on a matter are.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks? Self-abusive. While no longer flogged within an inch of her life for the slightest error, she still mentally berates herself when she feels that she has not performed to her perceived standards.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you? She has no memory of her birth family. Most of her "brothers" and "sisters" are still Little Lambs, and she hasn't heard from them since she escaped. She still has members of the church of Abadar that she maintains friendly contact with on a semi-regular basis.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you? Her birth family, her childhood of crime, and her Forlorn depression could all have interesting future possibilities.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city? All her life as far as she knows. She currently resides in South Shore, trying to find some sense of belonging among others of her kind.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa? She feels that Korvosa is plagued by all manner of scum and villainy, and she intends to remove that problem. She is far to focused on the small scale that she rarely worries much about what the royalty and politicians are up to.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm? For as long as she can remember, she's been one of Lamm's Little Lambs. That is, until she escaped. She's been trying to get over it, but you can bet that if she ever got wind of where he was hiding, he'd go strait to the top of her list of people who need to be removed from the city.

Guardsman Henric |

Twigs, here. This is my submission. I've been a little hesitant to post it because I was hoping to find the time today to write up a Gnome character as well. (I didn't.) I reverted to human because we already had a half elf. I'm quite happy with how my white-bread human fighter turned out, but don't want to miss out on any urban acrobatics so I might adjust my skills before the game, depending on the party makeup.
I had a little flick through the wiki and tried to fit into the city as best as I could. I like a simpler backstory than most, it seems, so we'll see how I hold up.
-How did you acquire your class? Three years in the Endrin Military Academy and another on the streets.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment? Most of it is standard issue. His longsword was crafted by his brother Aleric, who owns a smithy in South Shore, as a graduation gift. It has a silver hippogryph set into the hilt.
-What's the worst event of your life so far? His hunt for Gaedren Lamm took a bad turn two weeks ago. His nephew, Aaron, has dissapeared.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you? His time with an old flame. While they slowly drifted apart, Henric still has fond memories. (If there's an appropriate female NPC in the path, I wouldn't mind having a connection at your discretion. If not this can remain purely in the background.)
-How do others perceive you in social interactions? Confident, easygoing and good-hearted, if not particularly bright. In a conflict, however, he seems an entirely different person.
-How assertive are you when making a decision? Henric is confident he knows what's best for his friends and for his city.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks? Henric puts on a calm demeanor and bottles up his frustration.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you? Since his father's death, Henric has kept what family he has close. He shares a hearty camaraderie with his brother, Aleric, and treats his nephew Aaron as his own. He has a cousin in the Sable Company, though he hasn't seen the man in years.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you? Henric has lived in this city all of his life, with all the rivalries, romance and friendships that brings. His line of work has likely made him many enemies in the Cerulean Society and the criminal gangs they finance.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city? Henric was born in the South Shore district, but spent his training years in Old Korvosa and currently living in the barracks in Midland district.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa? Korvosa is strong. Good, honest people and the finest armies this side of Bloodsworn Vale. While the last few weeks especially have shown him the criminal underworld is given too much compromise, he earnestly works hard to make his city better.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm? Henric has been hunting the man for several months, but just two weeks ago his beloved Nephew was kidnapped, and Henric suspects the worst.

Alexei Robertovich Sadron-Kuzne |

I am new to PbP and have yet to play Pathfinder as a player. So far my experience has been as a DM only.
This is him starting as a wizard preparing to going multi into cleric for mystic theurge. The background and some of the stats were designed with him to be in a Kingmaker campaign preparing to multi to druid on a 20 point build. If chosen, I will adjust accordingly.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment? It's what I had when I graduate from school. Can I get off the dock now?
-What's the worst event of your life so far? Being held up at customs by you? Seriously though, in the past I would said being forced to dropout of the Acadamae.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you? Going to school at the Arcanamirim
-How do others perceive you in social interactions? As a friendly, practical, normal guy.
-How assertive are you when making a decision? For myself or my students, quite. For everyone else, not particularly so.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks? If it's my thesis, curse and get a beer. If not, just roll with it. Things generally work out in the end.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you? Yes, I usually get a sending from Mom and Dad every few days, so I'd say pretty good. Honestly she danced with glee when she found heard I was switching schools to her alma mater.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you? Yeah, if the Acadamae finds out that the new acolyte at the temple of Abador is a dropout who then graduated from a rival school, they'd have a conniption. I'd probably get transferred to another temple, which would be annoying.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city? Well, I spent most of my youth and early adulthood here, 15 years. My childhood was mostly spent in Brevoy though.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa? Honestly I'm just here to gain some clerical training and practical business experience.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm? The bastard got me kicked out of the Acadamae.
This is Alexei starting from cleric. Just tell me which you would prefer. From the looks of things, I'd say cleric might be the more logical choice.
-How did you acquire your class? I've been a acolyte here at the Temple of Abadar since my 20th year.
-How did you assemble your starting equipment? I've made a few wise investments.
-What's the worst event of your life so far? The disappearance of my younger sister.
-What's the best thing that's ever happened to you? Finding a faith in the First Vault. By making a pure and orderly society we can prevent a 'mysterious' disappearance from happening to other families.
-How do others perceive you in social interactions? As friendly banker who understands what it's like. Honestly most people come out satisfied with my deals, even those who end up paying. If it's dealing with criminals though, I seem a bit zealous.
-How assertive are you when making a decision? I'm rather playful aggressive about most things, like a friendly salesman, it sets people at ease.
-How do you feel when faced by setbacks? Smile and laugh, then find out how it happened. If it was a normal setback, learn the lesson and let go. If it relates to my sister, find out who got in my way and make their life hell.
-Do you stay in contact with your family? What do they think of you? Absolutely. Honestly my parents think I'm a bit paranoid about keeping tabs on them. I guess that's what happens when one's an artist and the other varisian.
-Do you have any secrets or conflicts from your past that might come back to haunt you? No.
-How long have you lived in Korvosa and in what part of the city? Well, I spent most of my youth and early adulthood here, 15 years. My childhood was mostly spent in Brevoy though.
-What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Korvosa? I am convinced that Gaedren was behind my sister's disappearance, and the government is complicit. Crimelords rule the slums and nothing is done. When I have enough power and evidence. Heads. Will. Role.
-What is your connection (past or present) to Gaedren Lamm? He kidnapped my sister. I will have erase his stain from the city.

Azure_Zero |

Btw, Azure_Zero, are you posting that char. for consideration, or are you just enjoying the conversation?
Just giving a hand to one who is new to the forums.
You have much to choose from, so I will not enter and increase the load, unless you are planning 2 groups. Then I'll use either Etna, Tina or Mai Sagara characters to fill the needed part that's missing.
Even though I am new to PBP (started Mid-August),
I as a PBP GM have come up with a few good tricks for PBP GMs.
(namely my Generic NPC aliases and how to use them. Increased immersion and less confusing when the GM has multiple characters in a single post)

Just wondering since I was starting to consider players. I'm only planning on a single group at the moment. Or at least until I see just how much time and effort this will take up. I've done something similar to your NPC aliases in games I've run over Maptools, but I thought it would be more difficult via PbP without really adding that much to the game.

Hello, I am Aeleanor Asaaru's friend that was mentioned earlier. This is the wizard class that I was playing with a little. I am relatively new at PbP and D&D in general, so I am welcome to feedback in all respects. I haven't gotten a chance to flesh out Corey's story yet. Trying to think of things that aren't too cliché.

Your Will save is incorrect: +2 Base Save, -2 from Wisdom penalty gives you a +0 Will save not -3.
Looks good otherwise at a quick glance.
