Missed the tentacles.
The black tentacles continue to grasp and crush at the hobgoblins struggling within, slowly crushing the vile taint that is goblin kind from their green corpses.

Tom sees the magic from the scroll dissipate with no effect, and decides to ignore his wounds and try to finish off the devil. Not wanting the devil to escape, Tom casts another Litany of Righteousness to augment the already considerable power of the divine mark he had put on the creature earlier in the day. The power of the litany was so intense and so sudden, Tomkin has considered it the most powerful magic a divine warrior could call upon. His glaive strikes repeatedly at the devil, the enchanted weapon augmented by a divine glow stronger than the sunlight.
